Not good news from Virginia. A judge has allowed the purge of 40,000 voters from the rolls.
Terry Macauliffe is leading by about 9 points but 40,000 fewer voters is quite worrying, to say the least.

So did that guy just admit to trying to incite a riot (metaphorically speaking)? Then he did what they always do when they get mad or backed into a corner, they let the race thing slip out., their real issue with PBO. His mention of Trayvon showed what is his real problem with PBO.

The guy is a loon and a racist. He use to come up with conspiracy theories about President Clinton and was one of the main people on the extreme right calling for his impeachment. Now he accuses President Obama of being a secret Muslim who wasn’t born here. The guy has no evidence and he just makes things up.

I love how they went on and on about President Obama’s church, Rev. Wright, and other churches and pastors in Washington that are associated with the Obama’s while calling him a secret Muslim.

JPMorgan Chase has reached a tentative $4 billion settlement with the Federal Housing Finance Agency, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday. The bank is accused of misleading Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over mortgages it sold to the government agencies during the late-2000s housing boom, according to CNBC.

I hope we can get more positive stories out there about the ACA. Of course now that the POTUS has made the repubs look like jackasses the media has jumped on the website crap and is acting as if the end of the world.

millions of people will have insurance for the first time or affordable insurance for the first time. Insurance companies can no longer discriminate against anyone based on preexisting conditions which includes being born a woman. No lifetime caps. No longer having the fear of going broke if you get sick….on and on and on

the fact that a few people are are getting stirred up about a tool hat is used to register for ACA which opened only 18 days ago is just silly to me. Especially when there are other options to get registered. A little inconvenience while they work out the kinks in a new system is not a big deal and will not stop the person who truly wants to sign up for Obamacare from registering.

Dear Claire, I just have to say that even though I have great health insurance for myself. It does not matter what the media says. The people who needs it and deserves it is the only thing that matters. Knowing that makes me glad that our president stepped out on boldness and courage so that this could happen. I am grateful that he made the sacrifices to take the bumps and bruises that comes along with a vision that has never been implemented fully before. I am grateful for that alone. Knowing that people will have affordable coverage like myself makes me joyful. Why would anyone want this to fail is pure evil.
      Do not fret. It’s covered.

        October 18, 2013 at 5:56 pm

What a lot of people forget is that Obamacare isn’t just about giving affordable care to Americans – although that’s a really HUGE part. It’s also about making sure Americans can rely on the healthcare they have. That they can be sure their premiums are being used to actually pay for health services. To ensure the American people aren’t just being gouged in order to line the pockets of insurance companies, without making sure they’re getting value for money. To make sure that Americans actually have access to the health care that so many rich people from other countries come here to use. And to reduce the cost of healthcare for future generations.

These things benefit everybody – those with insurance, and those trying to get insurance. I’ve heard so many stories of people with healthcare who still went bankrupt paying for cancer treatment. Those who had insurance, but were presented with a huge bill when the insurance company retroactively decided they wouldn’t pay for treatment already received. Those with insurance who reached caps and had to stop treatment before they were well. People who could afford insurance, but couldn’t find anyone willing to sell it to them because of pre-existing conditions.

The security provided by the Affordable Care Act will benefit every single American. Every single one.

My Representative Karen Bass will be holding a Town Hall meeting at West LA College on Nov. 10th to answer questions and help people get signed up. We are having a “Taste of Soul” festival tomorrow on Crenshaw Blvd (in the hood). There will be plenty of folks there to answer questions and sign people up. Of course. This is why the left has to stop giving the right ammo. Now I am actually not sure what side of the aisle Ezra stands on. I think his wife got a lot of negative push back when she did that article in the NY Times about the WH not having many females in high level positions because ever since that article he has been a total jerk. The Memorial is lovely. The Police Presence when I visited was so oppresive that it practically ruined it for me. And this was my visit with Downtown Residents Only with our elected officials. They screened us at so many points it made me feel I was living in some Futuristic dystopian nightmare.

  20. October 18, 2013 at 5:40 pm

Well another issue that can be laid at Jindal’s doorstep.

I know that probably a good bit of you guys don’t really spend much time thinking about HBCU big team sports, but here in Louisiana, one of the best known HBCU teams and sports programs is going through a big crisis. That is beginning to affect other things as well. No one really knows what is going in, but if it continues it could effect one of the biggest “bowl” games in HBCU football.

Anyway, like I said, alot of the issues can be squarely put at Jindal’s feet or just has been exacerbated by his stupid fiscal policies.

There has already been some talk about the longevity of Bayou Classic (it’s the biggest game of the HBCU football season I’m pretty sure the only one shown nationally) anyway, and this type of thing could sure be the things that lets the money talkers jump ship…they’ve been waiting for just the right opportunity.

What’s Behind The Grambling Football Team’s Protest

The inside story of what caused Grambling football players to revolt

    • 87 GGail
      October 18, 2013 at 6:15 pm

lamh, I fault the alumni. This is a HBCU. It was not founded on a hand-out. I know many HBC alumn and those from FAMU meet regularly and take care of their school. Those I know from Grambling, don’t even talk to one another, mo less send financial support or fund raise.

      • October 18, 2013 at 6:32 pm

Grambling is a relatively small public-funded state university. It is NOT the size of FAMU or Southern University. It has always been so. It was established to educate some of the poorest Black folk in North Louisiana, sharecroppers and their families and the like.

There is only so much alumni can do. The university thrives on public funds. Yes the alumni can help, but it is NOT all on them.

And so those YOU talk to don’t talk to one another, I live here in Louisiana and the people I KNOW from Grambling who are alumni are very supportive and give financially as much as they can.

Grambling while steeped in history has some illustrious alumni, but I guess their alumni are not as illustrious as FAMUs.

Alumni funding IS NOT to blame here. And I’m sorry, but I bet alumin funding is NOT what keeps FAMU afloat. Unless FAMU has a Bill Gates or Johnson family type of endowment, then you bet your sweet bippy that public funds and funds from sports and the band are the bulk of what funds the university.

    The White House, Washington

    Hello, everyone —

Late Wednesday night, after a 16-day shutdown, the President signed a bill to reopen the government and pay our country’s bills. Today, a government shutdown over delaying or defunding the health care law can no longer hurt our economy. We are no longer facing the threat of default.

While this bipartisan compromise is the right thing to do for the country, there are no winners when Washington keeps hijacking our economy month after month.

Nobody wins when hundreds of thousands of people don’t know when their next paycheck will come. Nobody wins when millions of veterans and seniors risk losing benefits that they’ve paid for, earned, and rely on. Nobody wins when businesses stop hiring and our economy grows slower than it could.

Ultimately, the reason this shutdown ended was simple: Democrats and responsible Republicans got together, recognized that holding the American economy hostage should have no place in our politics, and got the job done. They did what the American people elected them to do.

Today, every American should have a clear sense of where we stand, and where we’re going. Watch the President’s statement yesterday about the end of the shutdown, and then pass it along so that other folks see it, too.

In his remarks, the President asked Congress to focus on finishing three specific policy priorities in the weeks to come.

First, that means passing a budget that invests in the things that will create a better bargain for the middle class — like educating our children, and improving our infrastructure — while continuing to cut our deficit in a balanced way.

Second, it means fixing our broken immigration system so everyone plays by the same rules. The Senate has already passed a bill that would continue to strengthen our borders and grow our economy by bringing millions of undocumented immigrants out of the shadows and give them the chance to earn their citizenship by paying a fine and taxes, passing a background check, and going to the back of the line.

And third, it means passing a farm bill that ranching and farming families can rely on: one that protects working families and gives rural communities opportunities to grow.

We’ll be back in touch soon with more specific ways that every one of us can support this work. But for now, we should all have the facts on exactly what ending this shutdown means for all of us — today, and in the weeks to come.

Take a look at the President’s remarks from yesterday, and pass them along to the folks you think need to see them:

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/share/the-shutdown-is-over

    Thanks, and stay tuned.

P.S. — It’s been a while since we’ve talked about immigration reform, and how it would help make our economy a lot better. Let’s change that. Take a look at this whiteboard video our team put together. Then share it.
