Wow…..Leave A Message? Okay….Hello p
Congrats on 1st Nena!
Thank you LP for the compilation of toons!!!
Thanks Doc. I love your Tweets.
How are you all doing? I love Toons thank LP.
It looks lonely……
Having a party for one, are you, Nena? You dance moves look just lovely as you twirl across the floor.
I think that I might have pulled some muscles…. Dancing…oops….twirling across the floor
Here, lean on……. one of the other guys/gals. I’m not too stable, myself.
I knew that I could always Count on You, VC. Thanks.
Lean On Me a great Song that I love
I love that so much it was one of the early songs offspring learned to play as a birthday gift for me – when he was younger and used to ‘give’ BD gifts.
I don’t know, you might want to enjoy the spaciousness and freedom to fling your arms wide any which way you choose.
*I* won’t interrupt; I’ll simply read the toons quietly.

Late responding to HF2 on the previous thread, re: the loathsome opportunist Drudge-bait Ezra Klein and equally bad wife, Annie Lowrey.
But I hope this is the death knell for the Chris Hayes/Ezra Kleins on MSNBC.
They are doubling down on being increasingly irrelevant to their audience.
They have no real-world experience and rarely get outside the Acela corridor.
Posted on a previous thread; for good reading about Snowdenwald, check out previous days tweets in @Gus_802 and @JeffersonObama’s timeline; GG has teamed up with fellow anarchists which includes a billionaire, with Snowden being left out to dry.

And someone mentioned that Ezra seems to have taken this particularly nasty turn against our President after his wife was thoroughly ridiculed and humiliated by the echo-chamber because of her lame and snobbish articles. Think that explains a lot. His wife is a snob and he’s protecting her snobbish honor.
Oh, forgot to mention that MSNBC’s audience is evolving, despite the fact their anchors aren’t (Ronan Farrow, really? I’m sure he’s a good kid, it’s impossible to get a more blue-eyed blond than him).

Glad you got a kick out of them, Sailor! You usually provide wonderful mid-afternoon smiles….. so I thought I would return the favor

Thank You, sir
LP, thanks for the new thread.

Good. The more people know, the better off we’ll all be…
And I know how hot-and-cold, hit-and-miss Chris Matthews can be, but yesterday he attributed the GOP resurrection in the House squarely at the feet of “The Cause.”
Which makes sense, since no amount of reason or logic or quiet discussion will sway those firmly against Obamacare, even if they or their families and relatives might benefit.
Here’s what Matthews said:
“For his enemies, the demolition of this president remains their most exciting quest.
They call it the cause.
Its battle flag is the stars and bars, its religion.
The notion somehow the minority who backed Cruz and Lee and the rest are the real Americans. Thats their job to take back the country back from the other.
Those people who live in big cities, minorites and liberals and others who to them constitute the enemy.
Be warned with every fresh defeat, this crowd becomes more frustrated, more angry, dismayed that they, who are the true, indeed, super-Americans assume their vote should count more than those lesser folk, they think are lesser, who voted for the President.
How else do you explain that a group that is outnumbered at the polls call itself again and again, as it does so predictably, the American people.”

If Twitter’s transformation from “that micro-blogging service” to publicly traded advertising titan works out, it’s going to have a painful tax bill. But there’s good news! Twitter is already pulling an Apple and setting itself up with Irish money loopholes.
Apple has saved over $74 billion dollars in American corporate taxes since it started moving assets to Irish shell corporations that consist of little more than an address and paperwork a few decades ago. It’s simple corporate “rationality”—taxes in the U.S. are higher than they are elsewhere in the world, so large, clever firms will exercise every legal trick at their disposal to skirt these taxes and pay a much, much lower rate in Ireland. Taxes aren’t really supposed to work this way, but they can, and so any company with the means—including Gawker Media—will pay the bare minimum, no matter how much navigating it takes. Ireland doesn’t scream disruption, but it’s made a name for itself as a Yankee corporate haven. Twitter appears to be the latest high profile tax tourist in the Emerald Isle.
And Ireland went belly up in the global recession – low taxes do not a working economy make
Didn’t ireland fix that loophole recently?
Barbara Buono is on Rachel!
Barbara Buono is reminding New Jerseyans that Chris Christie is anti-choice, anti-pay equity, anti-marriage equality – anti-everything to do with “freedom,” sounds like to me!
Like how she knows her mind and will call out people immediately (like Rachel) if they even slightly misrepresent her. Jersey Girl!
This is good to hear. I saw her once on Lawrence O’Donnell, and she seemed very no-nonsense. She takes this seriously, and I like that.
Hope it all works out for her. And, of course, for me, it’s ABC – Anyone But Christie.
It would be so nice – but it seems there needs to be a massive fail for Christie to be defeated – by refusing to have the senate election at the same time he (Christie) used NJ government money to get himself a larger majority. I do not understand why women seem to think it doesn’t matter when politicians want to legislate their bodies – weird.

From an earlier post – the lies they tell about the ACA
Someone needs to fact check the two prep school buddies – Ezra Klein and Chris Hayes
I’d be more surprised if someone fact-checked Hannity and found facts. Lies? Par for the course.
Sean Hannity has been fact-checked, and the results aren’t pretty.
In an article posted on Salon on Friday, Eric Stern “re-reported” a recent episode of Fox News’ “Hannity” during which host Sean Hannity invited six guests to tell their Obamacare “horror stories.”
According to Stern, there was a lot more to each of the guests’ stories than Hannity led on. Stern decided to conduct his own investigation by separately interviewing each guest, and what he said he found was not that the guests were cheated by Obamacare, but rather that they had tried very little, if at all, to participate in the ACA.
Rev AL did a piece on this this evening.
Rev Fr. Charles Coughlin was using his radio show during FDR to lie and spread misinformation over the airwaves. Eventually he was stopped. Today Fox and the 1300 radio stations are willful liars, unchecked using propaganda tactics that were strongly scorned and rejected especially after WWII. Why are lies accepted today over the airwaves? Is Cable not considered airwave?
To be honest, anyone stupid enough to avoid buying affordable healthcare for themselves – or even investigating the truth for themselves, isn’t worth my time or worry. Obamacare is now live and online. If someone cares about their health, their family’s health and their pocketbook – they’ll do what’s necessary to get information. If they allow themselves to be swayed by nonsense, then so be it.
As you know theo67 millions of our fellow citizens do things that are against their own interests. Those who exploit them know what they are doing. Those who need ACA most are those who we must continue to encourage to seek the truth, walk through, plead and bend over backwards to get them to select common sense.

How to play poker
Two couples were playing poker one evening.
Jim accidentally dropped some cards on the floor. When he bent down under the table to pick them up, he noticed Bob’s wife, Sue wasn’t wearing any underwear under her dress! Shocked by this, Jim upon trying to sit back up again, hit his head on the table and emerged red-faced.
Later, Jim went to the kitchen to get some refreshments. Bob’s wife followed and asked, ‘Did you see anything that you liked under there?’
Surprised by her boldness, Jim admitted that, well, yes, indeed he did.
She said, ‘Well, you can have it but it will cost you $500.’
After taking a minute or two to assess the financial and moral costs of this offer, Jim confirms that he is, in fact, interested.
Sue told him that since her husband Bob worked Friday afternoons and Jim didn’t, Jim should be at her house around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon. When Friday rolled around, Jim showed up at Bob’s house at 2 p.m. sharp – and after paying Sue the agreed sum of $500 – they went to the bedroom and closed their transaction, as agreed.
Jim quickly dressed and left.
As usual, Bob came home from work at 6 p.m. And upon arriving, asked his wife: ‘Did Jim come by the house this afternoon?’
With a lump in her throat Sue answered ‘Why yes, he did stop by for a few minutes this afternoon.’
Her heart nearly skipped a beat when her husband curtly asked, ‘And did he give you $500?’
Using her best poker face, she replied, ‘Well, yes, in fact he did give me $500.’ Bob, with a satisfied look on his face, surprised his wife by saying, ‘He came by the office this morning and borrowed $500 from me. He promised he’d stop by our house on his way home and pay me back.’
Now THAT, my friends, is a poker player!
Very sly. Karma will get him!
Ya takes yer chances once in a while.

Lunar Eclipse Live….I hope it works
Observations from NASA’s Kepler spacecraft have uncovered a ’tilted’ solar system, a finding that gives clues as to how some planets come to orbit their stars on paths that are misaligned with the stars’ equators, astronomers report today in Science.
I read an idea from another site of how you can get all your tax forms and instruction booklets from libraries, post offices and federal buildings.. Perhaps something like that could/should be implemented for ACA. At one time, they were mailed to your home. This still may be the case, but I don’t get them that way anymore. Just a thought.
Also, I wonder how much money was allocated to make sure that enough resources, flexibility, and innovation to ensure a smooth roll out. It makes me think that maybe there’s folks behind the scene who are not that invested in its success.
Cookemom, the GOP deliberately denied funding for the ACA roll-out and to properly staff various offices. In addition, the GOP launched an attack to convince the NFL from helping to publicize the roll-out, and they launched a misinformation campaign – including spreading lies at their town halls. There were definitely folks behind the scene who were/are not invested in its success!
Yes, I’m sure there are those who absolutely want it to fail. Are they the programmers, IT folks, engineers, worker bees? Probably not, they have too much pride in their work and have just the right amount of technerdiness to be political with the bits and bytes. It’s the management, no nothings whose sole job is to deliver on time under budget. The only code they know, is their own zip code. Thearticle I read on the other site was written by an IT person who made some very good points. The comments by other programmers were very eye opening.
Bill Gates should be asked by the President to jump in. No, don’t go crazy on me! The guy is devoted to World Health and the biggest philanthropist in history. As has been posted many times, The ACA is NOT a website. But I bet Gates with his genius and resources could have the system working better FAST.
Understand, but it’s a government system and unless one could declare Gates “a sole source” contractor, it would have to go out for bids, etc. (This is old knowledge, so maybe not.)
Microsoft is well known for it’s troubled software releases… Truth is, many of the glitches are already tweaked out of the system. Let’s not fall for this focus on the tool, rather than focusing on the much-needed benefits being extended to the American people. I’ve said this before – I’ve never heard of a computer software program being implemented without a single hitch – and there is story after story of famed software companies experiencing crippling releases just this very month alone. If we focus on glitches, then we’re buying into the emoprog/media plan.
Someone sent a tweet out last week that healthcare.gov is simply a tool. It’s not the law. The law is bigger than the tool – and it’s working. Let’s make sure that message gets out.
Or bring back the ace campaign team. The company who was given the contract, was originally hired for government work by the Bush administration. ACA is not the website, and the 800 number should accompany every ACA article and report we hear. I just wonder if the paper form/s, available as are the IRS form, at libraries and post offices could have been a consideration.
I think they ought to open up the window for getting healthcare and put info into everyone’s tax bill in January….
I agree with much of what was said but paper forms should be a friggin’ OPTION (last resort) and that’s all. OMG. I…probably WE all do everything online with virtually zero problems. Government sites….commercial sites…EASY. ACA was bombarded with HUGE demand and possibly refugglian attacks on the site? It was overwhelmed but IT CAN BE FIXED!!
Ask the seniors or folks without access to PCs how WE all do everything online with virtually no problems. I agree with you and I’m not suggesting that technical difficulties have anything to do with the product itself. I was sharing an idea that seemed to work with IRS forms. Yes, you can file your taxes online, but you can also get the paper version and send the forms in via snail mail. I’m thinking that may have released some of the pressure off the high volume hits. Not to mention, those with security hesitations would feel less exposed. Either way, this will be fixed before the closed enrollment date, so this may be a mute point. However, there is no mistake that the roll out was not stellar for whatever reasons.
Let me bring over my conversation with Meta from previous thread on my experience so far. There is a paper option if you request it.
Me: I have been trying to get premium quotes since Oct. 3, when Experian verified my account. The following week if I could log in it would just say “application in process” the week after that I couldn’t log in anymore. The people on the hotline are not getting any assists from the IT people, and are just getting yelled at 24/7. I spent a hour with a lady last weekend just having a nice conversation, telling her I understand they left her out to dry, and she was so appreciative. The problem is for the last 10 days around 10 p.m. EST they shut the site down for maintenance and in that process they erased the passwords of the accounts of early applications, due to privacy conformity. So my suggestion to anybody is create a new account and skip the “subsidy eligibility” info (much shorter process) and try to get the plans offered through that process. I got the furthest by doing that. Still haven’t been able to see what Plans are available, but am noticing improvements every day. My asshole A.G. is also suing the Federal Government to prevent anyone from receiving subsides, on top of RWNJ Gov. Mike Pence not expanding Medicaid(after passing laws to prevent union organization last year)……. because he is running for President in 2016. I have till Nov. 6, before I have to decide to keep my current coverage with AnthemBCBS…..so I just implore patience to everyone. In due time………
Meta: WHOA. Can’t believe the hotline doesn’t have IT back-up. What’s the point of that? Wow, I hope it all works out for you, SOON.
Me: It is B.S. the I.T. folks leave the phone reps in the wind, Meta. One other option I suggest for people trying to sign up is have the Telephone Rep. fill out an application manually. It is a much more longer/tedious process, but they are happy to do it if you wish. By doing so, they submit the paper application to the proper channel, and you are supposed to be contacted within 10 days by either Healthcare.Gov rep or an Insurance Provider personally. At that point they will walk you through your coverage options, but it is a guaranteed way to have your application processed, and bypass any website hiccups.
Completely different problem set but I’ve been wondering if Harper could work on this.
I think that it will be taken care of and is already showing signs of improving. It’s just that I can imagine how awful HHS and others responsible must feel about the glitches and tech issues for such a high profile roll-out. I’ve been involved with many process/program management deliveries and this one would have some folks begging for mercy. They were under the gun from the very beginning with such a short turn around. As I read on another site, they probably couldn’t even get started until after the election was settled. Here’s the link: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/10/18/1248612/-A-Software-Engineer-s-take-on-Healthcare-gov
