Good Morning Chips
Congrats on 1st Roberta. Morning Chips. Happy Friday.
I told Hope in a tweet that I felt realllllly left out yesterday in that Nightmare thread yesterday. LOL!! That was soooooo fun.
Nooooo! Did the rascal forget to give you a ‘costume’?
Yup. Next year, she’s gonna have to come up with a special one for me.
Thanks africa and a good morning too you too. TGIF.
Here’s hoping you have a wonderful Friday!!
Good morning everyone..
Hope everyone had a excellent Halloween. I partied out early. Pierce was a downer last night. LOL How did Danny do with the tricksters last night?
I had to work. But it was fun, too. Late home visits and then take some of the other kids on my case load to a Halloween thingy. But well worth it.

A teachable moment amk?
Yes, never be fooled by the cuteness overload,
I’m getting sentimental this morning, every time I see a picture of our President, I want to just give him a BIG BEAR HUG and tell home much I appreciate his Presidency. He just brings tears of joy for his steadfast way of governing our country for everyone. sigh. I just pray more people wake up to that fact he is really doing one helluva job for the American people. Now done with that. BBL

All their gripes are too easily dismissed as sour grapes. You shut down the government to try to kill Obamacare, then open hearings to try to fix it? C’mon.
And it points to a bigger Republican problem: the party is too consumed with ax grinding and not concerned enough with idea generation.
When is the last time you heard a truly big idea coming from the right that could become law and could move this country forward? Don’t worry, I’ll wait. Exactly. Silence.
They are less interested in making laws that get things done than in making laws that prevent people from doing things. They want to halt progress and rewind it a few decades. For them, what used to be is always better than what can be, and that is a fatal logic flaw in a dynamic society.
(Reposting from previous thread.)
“When is the last time you heard a truly big idea coming from the right that could become law and could move this country forward? Don’t worry, I’ll wait. Exactly. Silence.”
And this very point is so lost in the discussion. GOP has done NOTHING at all, but govern by gimmicks and attempts to destroy the president. And the corrupt MSM says nothing about it.
Thanks for sharing this.
I am amused how DC conventional wisdom swung wildly from "GOP lose House over shutdown" to "Dems lose Senate over Obamacare" in just 2 weeks— Can I Change Back? (@wyethwire) November 01, 2013
MSM is just simply horrible.
THE MORAL DEPRAVITY OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ON FULL DISPLAY
If We Can’t Have It, You Can’t Have It Either
By David Kurtz
It should be mentioned that Republicans let a D.C. Circuit confirmation through earlier this year, as part of a deal to get some Obama nominees through in the face of threats from Harry Reid to change Senate rules to weaken the filibuster. This whole mindset of “if we can’t have it, we’ll break it so you can’t have it either” manifested itself then, too. Senate Republicans at that time wouldn’t allow the confirmation of anyone to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or to fill the vacancies on the National Labor Relations Board.
If we can’t have it, you can’t have it either — and we don’t care if we break it.
That’s where the Tea Party crowd that preferred shutdown to negotiations, default to compromise was, too. It’s all of a piece.
It’s Hard To Run A Democracy With An Ignorant Public
By Gene Lyons
“In other words,” writes economist Dean Baker of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, “the story of out-of-control debts and deficits is just plain wrong. Less polite people would call it a lie, but it stands at the center of the public debate because the media consider it rude to point out a truth that would embarrass so many important politicians…”
But as I say, it’s almost impossible to seriously discuss such issues in a country where 90 percent of the citizenry either don’t know or aggressively refuse to understand simple budgetary arithmetic.
If it were possible, though, here’s one basic question Americans should ponder. If it’s not Obama’s profligate spending keeping the U.S. economy in low gear, could it be government layoffs and lack of public investment?
Good Morning Chipsticks…TOD Early Birds/Extended Night Owls
I really enjoyed the TOD Halloween festivities on yesterday. Thanks to Hopefruit, Chipsticks, and UT for organizing and hosting. I look forward to next year’s Halloween party blog. I’m sure we will be provided with a host of materials (and personalities) to incorporate between now and then.
MUST SEE VIDEO DEBUNKING SLOPPY REPORTING ON OBAMACARE
The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell (10/31/13)
Reporters debunk some of the claims made about the Affordable Care Act. Lawrence talks to Michael Hillzik and Wendell Potter.
Thanks for posting this Ladyhawke. I watched it and was going to tell Chips how great it was. Very informative!
Called On To Explain Big Story, Media Botches Obamacare
By Eric Boehlert
The truth is, the Beltway press rarely bothers to explain, let alone cover, public policy any more. With a media model that almost uniformly revolves around the political process of Washington (who’s winning, who’s losing?), journalists have distanced themselves from the grungy facts of governance, especially in terms of how government programs work and how they effect the citizenry.
But explaining is the job of journalism. It’s one of the crucial roles that newsrooms play in a democracy. And in the recent case of Obamacare, the press has failed badly in its role. Worse, it has actively misinformed about the new health law and routinely highlighted consumers unhappy with Obamacare, while ignoring those who praise it.
Obamacare helped me keep my doctor of 27 years ~ what IS working whatisworking.com/2013/10/obamac…— Pretty Foot (@PrettyFootWoman) November 01, 2013
That’s why I signed up for Obamacare on Day One. Thanks to the new law, I will no longer be denied coverage, and I can keep my doctor of 27 years. Health care is an important security that all Americans deserve, and I am thankful to have access to affordable and quality care
I don’t know what Morning Jerk said today but it must have been especially despicable. Riled up the entire twitter feed.
He said FLOTUS watches Morning Joe while working out and when he says something aginst the President that the First Lady makes Valerie Jarrett go after him on twitter.
LOL…..So, Joe thinks that the First Lady really gives a damn about what he says. SMH….ARROGANT!!
Wow, what an egotist. I’m so sick of seeing nothing but Joe crap in my TL day after day after day. There’s no earthly reason to watch that toxic garbage. It’s pure idiocy. FLOTUS wouldn’t waste her precious time and energy on that nonsense.
Why don’t Morning Joke act like a man and leave the First Lady alone. I don’t believe his lie anyway. Valerie Jarrett is a grown woman, she has a mind of her own, the First Lady can’t make Valerie do anything.
I see my nutty nut tea party rep co-sponsored and introduced a bill, “Keep your health plan act”——sounds like a political ploy to me, trying to
highlight the current media firestorm over cancelled policies.
I’m glad you spoke out to educate others in spite of the trolls.
I wonder if Abby Huntsman will talk about her Grampa telling Reid that Romney did not pay taxes….
Yesterday she slammed Mike Lee and said he will NEVER win re-election in Utah…
Good Friday morning, TODville!! It’s November and off we go into the holiday season……
Here is where I shop for the holidays
