Congrats UT and thank you Chips. I was so happy (understatement) that night! When the results came in I cried, just cried, not what I was expecting at all. I thought I’d be jumping up and down with joy. Hubby did the cheering. Oh Happy Day for eight years. . .

      November 4, 2013 at 2:02 pm

Hmmm…Whatever! The same media that didn’t want to believe Robert Gibbs when he was WH press sec, are now finding his words gospel?

When the President said “If you like your plan, you will keep it”, he probably thought that people who had crappy plans didn’t like it. He forgot that many people who had crappy plans weren’t aware those were crappy plans. The vulnerability of this president is that he’s so analytical, rational, well informed, he has a tendency to underestimate the ignorance of others.

President Obama is also so honest he can underestimate the intellectual and moral corruption in others. He won’t admit it, but I suspect he didn’t think the republicans would be SUCH hypocrites, he didn’t think the media would be SO shallow and dishonest. He anticipated obstruction and problems, but not on that UNPRECEDENTED level.

I pray each day for him to keep his spirit in the face of so much, so much ugliness. Thank God he’s getting out and meets people these days. Because it’s good for his heart and his soul.

Jay was asked about that kind of by Ed Henry and Jay didn’t deal with that and he went on to repeat what POTUS had said last Wed in Boston.

THose who have Gibbs Twitter Acct should ask him what is he all about. I don’t think that Gibbs is as close to POTUS as before. There is a gap in his words. As a communication director, Gibbs knows the VERY damage that he is doing when this WH is trying to resolve the Website issue.

The only mistake President Obama made was not realizing that people would actually like insurance that f””d them over. Jeeze.

Tears! Just beautiful Chips – wonderful memories.

I had just started working for the library a few months before election day. I had the last couple of hours to myself, so I was following the election results online. I yelped when Ohio was called for PBO.

What a remarkable moment! Given that there have only ever been 42 other men/people elected and sworn into that role, it would have been a remarkable day, African American or not. President Obama is an uncommon individual for more qualities than just his skin color. We’re lucky to have him.

I still sob every time I watch those election night videos, and I’ve watched them 100’s of times. “Barack Obama WILL BE the next President of the United States”—–see, I’m crying again just typing those words. It was so thrilling, still is.

I don’t think the candle site is isolated for TOD users, so we’re bound to have trolls who found it and are abusing it. Let them spend their precious moments spreading hate on a site that solely exists to spread love, comfort and hope. They are only hurting themselves, sadly.

Ha! Governor Christie sign says Thank You Governor.
    For what? Thanks for what?
Remind me never to go to NJ, they’re trending RED!
    Stupid is as stupid does!

    • 47 Nena20409
      November 4, 2013 at 2:18 pm

      They are NOT trending Red.

Dems would go out of their way to get along than to wage a real fight against bullies like Christie.

GW Bush rolled Dems on Tax Cuts, Iraq war, Medicare Part D, No Child Left Behind. During Clinton….So many laws were changed unnecessarily.

    • 48 jackiegrumbacher
      November 4, 2013 at 4:01 pm

Jovie, NJ is under some kind of stupid spell right now. But I honestly believe that if Christie runs for president and IF he gets the nomination, he will not win NJ’s electoral votes. NJ will go blue, partly because voters will go back to their roots and partly because they will be sick to the teeth of their absentee governor by then. Moreover, they will see their image of a so-called moderate Christie turn into the rabid right Christie and the scales will fall from their eyes. And you can quote me in 2016.

Because VP Biden did not mention PBO or Obamacare at the Virginia Rally….Howard Fineman quickley put up an artile on HP with this headline.

” Biden Totally Ignores Obama ” and has nothing good to say about him.

Howard is convinced it is because of the ” Book ” saying the admin was thinking about ” dumping ” Biden.

No doubt he will show up on Hardball to push this.

    • November 4, 2013 at 8:29 pm

Yup! Fineman was on Hardball pushing that line along with one of the authors. I was turning off my TiVo and the tv was set on MSNBC. Hardball was on in the middle of that very interview so I turned the tv off. I would rather have no sound than lies.

Just got chills – again – seeing these lovely photos. The two best things about both election nights in ’08 and ’12 were first that Barack Obama became our President, twice, and second that – coincidentally – both nights, my oldest granddaughter was visiting to share the moment. The first time she hugged me, but in 2012, she said, “You’re STILL crying?” And I laughed through my tears.

    • 61 jackiegrumbacher
      November 4, 2013 at 4:04 pm

And guess what was a third best thing JOB. We had a Dem majority in both houses that night and the possibilities were limitless.

Oh Chips, Just looking at those pictures brings chills and tears. What a day and what a night. I remember sitting in a room full of workers who had been working all day, taking folks to the polls, etc and all of us crying. We knew it was going to hard but I don’t think any of us realized the hatred that would come.

Again thank you Chips for this place!!!! Now back to work cleaning house.

      • November 4, 2013 at 2:36 pm

Based on comments from Jeff, Charles and others (since I’ve never watched anything she’s broadcasted) she’s become a full fledged GG cultist …

        • November 4, 2013 at 2:38 pm

I’ve never watched her either, since I’m at work. Sad.

          November 4, 2013 at 2:47 pm

I just really doubt that. Is this because the horrid Jeremy Scahill was on her show today? I’m not sure why, but it seems every msnbc program has to take a turn with his occasional presence. I noticed he was appearing but got a phone call so didn’t really hear the discussion. I cannot know what’s in Wagner’s heart, of course, as is the case with everyone. But my assessment has always been that she is a true blue Dem liberal, very supportive of President Obama but will mention when there are problematic issues in the news. And just the fact that she is engaged to someone very close to President Obama, his family’s personal chef and frequent golf buddy, I doubt whether she harbors any real negative Obama views or supports anyone/anything which would harm him.

            November 4, 2013 at 3:29 pm

Due to the recent remarks here about Alex I rearranged my schedule today and tuned in to her show.
Yikes!!! First an extended section bashing the ACA rollout and website. Depite the fact that there are reports that problems are being seen to and solved the tone of the show was doom gloom failure and what if it never works craziness.

Then as Dotster mentioned we had an enraged Jeremy Scahill just insane in my view as he criticizes all of our foreign policy. Ground wars bad, ok, but apparently to Mr. Scahill all forms of military engagement are sinful. Alex wwas eager to agree that citizens killed by drones is a problem and we surely all would like not another single citizen anywhere in the world to be hurt by the US.
But I have to ask Jeremy S, What is your plan for America? or is the only reason you live is to spread anger and distrust? He sneers with contempt. GOPTP must love him

Howard Fineman’s “little man” syndrome is bubbling to the surface, once again…

  35. November 4, 2013 at 3:01 pm

Went to the urgent care clinic for my recurrent leg pain and this lil cough. I’m glad I went when I did cause the lobby was empty (the occupational clinic next door though was FULL). So I was in to see the RN and the NP in like 30 minutes flat.

First off, the cough, no fever, my ear were okay, my throat was a little red, but probably due to cough, and my lungs sounded clear. So diagnosis: upper respiratory infection, Rx: cough syrup and let cough run its course. I hope it does so by the time I leave for DFW Thursday!

Second and most important, the consistent recurring upper thigh pain, which after questioning I realized also involved lower back pain that radiated into the thigh. Diagnosis: Prob inflammation of the Sciatic nerve due to newly developed bowling skills (HA!). Rx: Steroid shot to the buttocks, and anti-inflammation med for about 5 days (give or take one, since I actually got some samples from RN too). The butt shot didn’t hurt going in, but it sure burned a little afterwards. I looked like a fool with a limping right leg and rubbing my but in family dollar…LOL

I didn’t feel like going to Walmart at Lunch rush hour, so I’ll put in my Rx tomorrow (my 37th B-day BTW) and just use the cough meds I have at home and the samples the RN gave me will last me til tmrw.

This is one of my favorite Election Night 2008 videos. It’s Richmond, VA Democrats celebrating PBO’s win in Virginia first, then totally losing their minds one minute later as he wins the presidency. Kool and the Gang’s “Celebrate” is blaring in the background. Party!

I will NEVER forget that night…..our long eight year nightmare was over…..and yes, even with all the stuff we’ve suffered the last five years, we are not living in the nightmare of GWB and Cheney. Barack Obama IS our president, and will be for three more years. Thank you for those wonderful, beautiful memories!!!

Well, you had me in tears. Thanks for the memories. It was a beautiful night.

As I listened to President-Elect Obama’s speech, filled with gratitude, love and inclusion, I noted that everything that he said, the GOP/TP has and continues to undermine to this day! Based on their behaviors over the last five years, they have highlighted to the world the ugly, hate and divisive aspects of our country.

I’ll be at the polls tomorrow to vote for our Democrat justices AND I will be there on Election Day 2014 to help to oust our current governor and to end the GOP/TP majority in the statehouse.

I just knew I would do it again in 2012.

    Thanks for the memories.
