Oh, GOP. Such hypocrites. Claims to hate ObamaCare yet successfully signed up.

He is the perfect example that ObamaCare works.

And I see 35 minutes of that was because they kept the health care people on hold.

dotster, that’s now how the story is being reported…

House Speaker John Boehner says he is signed up for “Obamacare,” but only after receiving the same error message experienced by other Americans. The Ohio Republican says the process worked after he tweeted his frustration with the delay.

Boehner said Thursday he re-started the process several times, tweeted about it, and about 45 minutes later, received an email from DC Health Link confirming he was signed up.

Boehner’s experience came about nine days before a deadline by which the Obama administration says the web site will improve. President Barack Obama has apologized to the nation for the problems implementing his signature law. Many Democrats are squirming over the difficulties on the eve of a midterm election year. Republicans, led by Boehner, already are aggressively campaigning against the law’s congressional supporters.

The filibuster requirement today is just for Judicial appointments, right. But not the Supreme Court. Everything else will still be filibustered?

Bob, forgive me if this is a dumb question but how much would eliminating the filibuster for legislation actually help us?
What I mean is that even when the Senate passes something, Immigration, for example, it goes nowhere because of the House.

In view of bills dying rather than being voted on in the House, would it still be important for the Senate to keep on legislating?

When Nancy ran the House many of the bills they passed died on the way to the Senate.
I must be missing something here.

        November 21, 2013 at 6:50 pm

I’m thinking the more pressure there is on the House to pass the legislation, the more likely they are to actually pass it. The Senate, by filibustering, gives the House GOP a lot of cover and removes the pressure from them.

If the Senate no longer has that kind of leverage, there will be more bills going from the Senate to the House for passage – and the House GOP will ultimately pay a heavy price for failing to vote for legislation that the majority of the public supports.

Bob may have other excellent insights on this issue.

The GOP and their media will regret the day they tried to make Obamacare a political issue for the President….they will be reaping what they sow come 2014…

Well it certainly didn’t make their lead stories – which is strange considering how they blasted headlines about 1 or 2 people whose junk insurance got cancelled.

Richard Engle can calm dow now.
Apparently President Karzai will not sign any agreement until after the Afghan presidential elections in April 2014.

    Good news, right, Jovie?

    • November 21, 2013 at 7:22 pm

The sticking point is the same as it was in Iraq, in that the US wants jurisdiction over its soldiers. Karzai doesn’t want this. So, there’s a good chance we’ll leave Karzai to his own devices.

      • 88 Vicki
        November 21, 2013 at 7:44 pm

Yep. Leaving Afghanistan and Karzai to their own devices is what I want. However:
I do not know what PBO wants. If the President wants an enduring presence then there must be benefits in that position that I am unaware of.

Good to see – politics in my world is quite ghastly at the minute – GG and friend are adding to the internal RW efforts.

Also too – having raised the pension age (SS age) to 67 (a LEFT leaning government) the others want it raised to 70. Soon we shall be back in 1800s where most people worked until they dropped dead.

American style “think tanks” seem to be taking over our legislative process at the federal level & there is no polite way to describe the right wing hate of my current state government.
