I wrote this at the bottom of the last thread.

We have shared this here at TOD. We are so blessed. Again thank you Chips for this heaven!!! We are living history. This is what we all have worked for. I am so emotional. Don’t know if I will be able to sleep tonight.

Thank you, LL, for the music. I think we can all us some mellowing out. I still feel so high strung.

The beltway does not know when to sit down and let PBO do his thing on behalf of the world !

as usual, we have to give thanks to PBO and his team and yes, rub it in when haters surface

Oh, and it feels so good to have a laugh at the expense of the usual suspects who will come out swinging in their attempt to downplay or oppose PBO’s achievements

    yes, we have to celebrate

Geneva Deal Strong First Step Toward Addressing Iran’s Nuclear Program

    ==========================

The leadership of Ploughshares Fund has issued the following statements:

“Freezing Iran’s nuclear program is a major step toward stopping it completely. This is a strong deal that advances American security interests in the region.

“This first phase agreement ensures that we will continue to negotiate a complete end to Iran’s nuclear program and should reassure U.S. allies in the region that Iran cannot make a dash for the bomb.

“Ploughshares Fund urges U.S. negotiators to continue negotiations toward a final deal with the same urgency that they have demonstrated over the past few weeks.”

      - Joe Cirincione, President

ha. and to think it was hillary clinton who brought the “3:00am call” into the discourse as she was trying to discredit the man. john kerry has far surpassed her in accomplishment as s.o.s, and in a fraction of the time. i can’t get over how much kerry and obama have mutually given each other some of the biggest moments of their lives. amazing connection those two have!

      • November 24, 2013 at 12:03 pm

I know Kerry ran for the presidency before and got swift boated, but if he keeps this up could he be a prospective presidential candidate again? It would be nice to have someone as tireless as him with the same visionary dreams of Obama in the office after PBO.

The statement from John Cornyn epitomizes his unhinged and deranged Republican Party. I hope he becomes a laughingstock because of this stupid comment. What an embarrassment. surprised how much i’m moved by this news tonight. perhaps because i spent years worrying about republicans getting control again, and as john mccain and the audience filled with republicans laughed “bomb, bomb, bomb, iran” and i worried for the hundreds of thousands of innocent women and children who would be killed by bombs paid for by my tax dollars, as happened in iraq and afghanistan?

with the help of “the news” we’ve been dangerously close to this happening still, yet we pulled it off again in 2012 and this is what we get instead. i suggest to anyone here over the holidays who has to endure republican relatives spewing the talking points, that you need to call them out for the murderous thugs that they are. your republican relatives vote for the mass execution of hundreds of thousands of innocent people. not an exaggeration. i don’t care how nice they’ve been to you in the past or if they raised you…voting for today’s republicans means that person supports mass killings of innocents. it’s that simple.

barack obama, john kerry, and most other democrats are the alternative.

Already 74 posts here, and I just finished posting the following at tail-end of previous thread:

This is a glorious evening! I’ve been surreptitiously following TOD all evening, but unable to post for most of this time. I am so very thankful, Chips, for this place you have created for us.

The press? Certainly not liberal. I refer to the corporate press as NEO-FASCIST. Fascism, in summary, is the merging of the state and the corporate economy. We get our news, our “media,” from only about four-six giant corporate-conglomerates who benefit financially from wars and war preparations. Even Disney has defense corporations under their conglomerate umbrella. Increasingly I’m daring to call it as it is. PBO is a threat to their bottom line…. PROFIT!

“When I sit down with my six-year old and my three -year -old at night and I’m reading a book to them and then I tuck them in to go to sleep, that’s a little piece of heaven that I hang onto.” Barack Obama , American Libraries, August 2005.

I hope and pray that parents all over the world will feel deeply a little “piece of heaven” that they can hang onto when they tuck their children in at night because of what this president and his leadership has done on this glorious day. Because we here, and millions of others, all across this nation saw a light of hope, compassion, in a brilliant man with the core of decency to lead a nation to the well of it finding constantly the better angel within;, we made this part of the journey with you, Mr. President on this historic night.

We give thanks that joy, hope, and prayerfully, a sense of peace will rest in a nation of people who also want to have a touch of that “better angel” reach their core because of a “Born Peace Maker” as President Barack H. Obama. We thank you, Mr. President and your team for answering the 3:00 am call. We all can tuck our children, grand children, and great-grand children in tonight with a little piece of heaven to hang onto here on earth. Thank you, Mr. President and Sec. Kerry and the entire team. We are so grateful, in that we had the glorious opportunity to help elect you and re-elect you, Mr. President twice. Not one minute was wasted on our efforts.

It is an honor to live with you as our president. Thank you, and God bless you and our nation as we try to let our better angels come forth.
Good night Chips and my TOD family.
Thank you LL for the lovely music. My heart has met its calmness now. HZ

Did this idiot women forget Baroness Ashton, FM of Iran, Russia , France etc and everyone involved?
PBO was explaining the rationale for the deal and its implications. She wanted old style American “We did it” rather than PBO style of we are all in this together which could have been so interpreted if PBO just praised Americans in this statement. The appropriate time will come to praise the SOS and his team.
She needs to be replaced since she is useless as a reporter. No substantive comments from her just barbs. Yuck.

I have noticed a big part of problems with the MSM is their inability to embrace/understand/measure/evaluate a different way of doing things. We that elected PBO elected him just for that reason his vision of doing things differently. They continue comparing his achievements based on the old ways. We are measuring his successes based on results we want.

  55. November 24, 2013 at 2:18 am

Get ready, TODers. We’ll have our hands full on Twitter tomorrow swatting down the RW nutcases. They are sooooo jealous that PBO could do the things that GWB couldn’t do. This is not just a great achievement for America, but for the world. It’s a damn shame that PBO is given so little credit in the U.S. but is beloved by people around the world. Although many Americans aren’t kind to him, as a student of history, I believe history will definitely give him all of his props, and that will be our greatest revenge on the hatemongers.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The United States and Iran secretly engaged in a series of high-level, face-to-face talks over the past year, in a high-stakes diplomatic gamble by the Obama administration that paved the way for the historic deal sealed early Sunday in Geneva aimed at slowing Tehran’s nuclear program, The Associated Press has learned.

The discussions were kept hidden even from America’s closest friends, including its negotiating partners and Israel, until two months ago, and that may explain how the nuclear accord appeared to come together so quickly after years of stalemate and fierce hostility between Iran and the West…..

    High On Their Own Supply
    by BooMan

    http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2013/11/23/174758/36

….Mitch McConnell doesn’t intend to engage in any high-profile retaliatory procedural actions in the Senate. That’s fine with me, but it calls to mind McConnell’s immediate response to the invocation of the Nuclear Option. He took to the Senate floor and declared not that Harry Reid had just done something historical or significant or even abominable, but that Reid was merely trying to distract people from ObamaCare….

….This makes me think that the Republicans are truly on another one of their Moby Dick adventures, like Whitewater, like the White House Travel Office, like Vince Foster, like l’affaire Lewinsky, like Saddam’s WMD, like Fast and Furious, like Solyndra, like the New Black Panther Party, like Benghazi, and like the most recent government shutdown. More than anything, it reminds me of when they convinced themselves not that the presidential polling numbers could be oversampling blacks, but that they were oversampling blacks. It’s like their theory that systematically trying to make it harder for blacks to vote would result in reduced black turnout rather than a black community more determined than ever to cast their ballots.

It’s some variation of stupidity and delusion, with a little evil sprinkled into the mix…..
