Winning is irresistible, Bob —-> #CheesyPuffDiplomacy
I thought you were sleeping off that Bloody Mary …. :D :D :D :D
It’s the brandy courage speaking.
Oh, yeah? I’ll let vc speak for me.
Fine. It is your blog afterall.
At least you didn’t give yourself a prize too. :-)
You KNOW what’s next, Dudette!!! Just imagine what she’ll post … probably a dripping wet #PBO :D :D :D
I am *literally* crying here, posted that pic before seeing your comment Bob, damn it, you know me too well
Darn right I do, Ms Chips!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
You’re a prophet Bob! :-)
Prize for me:
By his expression it’s obvious that POTUS thinks your humor on this matter is just a little “off” but he’s smiling anyway. :)
 I’m guessing he’s saying: “If I brought an umbrella, no way would this pic feature at TOD, oh, daily.”
No actually he’s saying “Girl, you think it’s a hoot to post first on your own blog? You playin’ them as fools? Huh, huh? Callin’ yourself a winner? Ok, I gotcha.”
I gotcha! I dedicate the first 12 seconds of this to Chips. After that, she’s on her own (well, not really on her own).
lol, I remember that song. Here’s the original from 1971. OMG. We would have to race to turn this song off; for the reasons that we were even embarrassed to hear it and that if we didn’t, Mother ban the radio for the rest of the day. Even the bus driver would turn it off. Frankly, I cannot believe they got away with playing it.
Oh, the ‘innocent days’ of 1971!!!! :D :D :D
OMG. When I first found the other song, I was so disturbed with only that intro, because I remembered the full song YOU posted! Thank you, thank you!
Oh, great! Now I can’t stop playing this song. I am the goddess of overkill. But it’s all good, since – starting tomorrow – it’ll be my exercise bike ridin’ (with Biden) tune!
gawd. “looks like”. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 7 million was exceeded if they already have 1 million in the first 2 months.
ok how in the hell did this get way up here? It’s supposed to follow my typo in my Obamacare comment waaaaay down there.
[Evil laugh] Heheheheh! You fell right into my web. I got you to give ME a prize and I didn’t even have to come in first!
:-D :-D :-D
Well done, Dudette. VERY well done :)
Thank you, Kind Sir! :-)
Well there goes my hope of a peaceful night’s sleep!!!
meta – Hi – did you see the Prez and/or his motorcade today? (Sorry so late checkin’ – I wasn’t on the blog much earlier.)
Hi, JO’B. Saw the motorcade, didn’t see POTUS. The security was very tight and they barricaded people back a half a block away. Disappointing but still fun! I wrote about it on the last thread.
Great – closer than some of the rest of us got!
It’s really just exciting knowing he’s in the same town! When I got home and saw his speech, I just felt so great about his trip. Loved the speech and knowing he went on to give another speech at the SF Jazz Center with Herbie Hancock and Esmeralda Spaulding performing and then on to an IT roundtable just makes me very happy. And I know he’s having a great time tonight in LA.

super @ColinKahl piece on a good deal in Geneva #Iran bit.ly/1b1dP33— Laura Rozen (@lrozen) November 26, 2013
Finally two paragraphs of Colin Kahl’s essay:
” There is thus no need at this point for Congress to pass additional sanctions legislation. Indeed, doing so would violate the letter and spirit of the Geneva agreement. Rushing ahead with fresh penalties now would almost certainly collapse the interim deal and likely end the prospects for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear challenge altogether. Instead, lawmakers should work closely with the Obama administration to ensure that Iran complies with the Geneva agreement and takes the next step toward a comprehensive accord. Congress should certainly be prepared to rapidly ramp up pressure again if Iran violates its commitments or drags its feet. But, as Congress does so, lawmakers should avoid the temptation to micromanage the negotiations as they enter the next phase. In particular, threatening new sanctions, or refusing to consider meaningful sanctions relief down the line, unless Iran meets a set of maximalist demands — such as a permanent end to all enrichment activities, no matter how constrained — would likely backfire, dooming diplomacy and increasing the odds of a nuclear-armed Iran, a war, or both.
Upon close examination, the interim agreement between the P5+1 and Iran provides meaningful and verifiable constraints on Tehran’s nuclear program, and it does so in a way that sustains momentum and leverage for further progress. If implemented, the deal will buy precious time to negotiate an enduring, peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear challenge. Although no diplomatic agreement is perfect, the one reached in Geneva is pretty darn good.
Colin H. Kahl is an associate professor in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a senior fellow and director of the Middle East Security Program at the Center for a New American Security. From 2009 to 2011, he was the deputy assistant secretary of defense for the Middle East.”

(Reuters) – Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai has refused to sign a security deal with the United States, the White House said, and Washington may have to resort to the “zero option” of withdrawing all American troops from the strife-torn country next year, as it did in Iraq.
Karzai told U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice in Kabul on Monday that the United States must put an immediate end to military raids on Afghan homes and demonstrate its commitment to peace talks before he would sign a bilateral security pact, Karzai’s spokesman said.
The White House said Karzai had outlined new conditions in the meeting with Rice and “indicated he is not prepared to sign the (bilateral security agreement) promptly.

My latest piece for Reuters: This is about much more than just nukes – implications of Iran deal reut.rs/1gc5U8k @lrozen @rosiegray— Trita Parsi (@tparsi) November 26, 2013
From Trita Parsi’s essay, these are absolutely critical paragraphs:
“An Iran that is defined by the win-win paradigm of Zarif and guided by Rouhani’s moderation could be a game-changer in the Middle East.
The domestic political situation may open and revive the Iranian civil society – long a key driver of political reform and democratization. This educated demographic had thrived under the Khatami presidency but been crushed by Ahmadinejad.
While there are still no signs of systemic change in Iran’s human rights record, the public is pressing Rouhani to address this critical issue. The pressure will likely increase now that the nuclear issue is being dealt with. The chants at the airport calling for the release of all political prisoners were a stark reminder.
Now that the long shadow of the nuclear issue no longer separates Iran from the United States, there may be opportunities for diplomatic solutions in Syria. There can also be collaboration to stabilize Afghanistan, as well as a a general shoring up of regional security.”
Thank you, so much, LP for posting that tweet!
YES @tparsi "Iran & US can also now begin to collaborate .. against a common strategic foe – al Qaeda & Salafist forces" cc @JohnKerry @vj44— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) November 26, 2013
Sure thing, Bob. Aside from the headlines, I know many don’t have the time to get into the weeds….. It can be overwhelming, and depending on *TV reports/ers is a hapless task. So by illuminating the crux/context (as you so kindly did for everyone) can make understanding the complexities a little easier for a layman’s ear.
Thank you, LP. We each must do all we can to BE the 4th Estate since it’s blatantly obvious that corporate media – be it print, broadcast or cable – is nothing more than the #Plutocrats propaganda instrument.

Some context for the young’uns out there…
So from the last thread there was some good news about healthcare signups being almost 1 million so far. (956,798) http://obamacaresignups.net/
The White House wants 7 million signed up by March 31st. So 6 million more over the next 4 months. Look like that would be doable…

Decided to address this simple message to 2 people close to President Obama – VP Biden and Ms Valerie Jarrett.
