Io sono prima! Google says that means ‘I am first.’ :grin:
Gobble Gobble! Hellooooooo VC!
Helloooooooo, my dearest of dears! How is you….and the little man?
Little? LITTLE?! He do be highly well, VC!!!
I hear you, CC, but ‘little’ is a means to remind myself that the burgeoning giant is still a puppy. At the rate he’s going, he’ll be towering over you in a few more blinks of the eye. I admit particularly loved his intelligent demeanor while watching TV recently; all that was missing was a pair of glasses. :grin:
You said it, VC!! :lol:
Honey, you’ll be able to gobble, gobble it all on your own, as Danny (he better not) and I don’t eat turkey.
Google can’t be wrong, right?
[Happy Thanksgiving, Mama Danny, BT's, TODville. I'm ever so thankful you're all here! ]
Italy Senate Expels 3-Time Ex-Premier Berlusconi
by The Associated
ROME (AP) — The Italian Senate on Wednesday expelled three-time ex-Premier Silvio Berlusconi from Parliament over his tax fraud conviction, ending, for now, his two-decade legislative run but not his political career.
Rest here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=247483581
[Yes indeedy!! :) Just a sec, I'm looking for my violin.]:
Twenty years ago, half the 12 largest U.S. municipalities had a Republican mayor. When Bill de Blasio takes office in New York on Jan. 1, none will.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve, y’all!
Funny how the Presidential pardon o’ the turkeys is covered nationwide, isn’t it? It’s all over the TV, too, because we Americans sure love to see the stuff that makes us feel good. (I am just as guilty because I personally would watch if President Obama just walked outside of the White House for three minutes to look up at the sky – that’s my idea of lovely!)
By the way, my comment was a dig at the media for not covering some of the more important things the President does, as well!
Pres. Obama is really enjoying himself – and the girls are putting up with it all, quite graciously (as usual)!
Chips, BTW, did you see those guys and gals on the previous post who were begging for a Thanksgiving ‘sticky’ tomorrow? I guess all that’s left to do, IF THEY GET ONE, is to remind them to ‘keep it clean’ as a thanks giving post WITHOUT ANY MOANS AND GROANS AND ‘DID YOU SEE THIS/’ FROM THE non-thankful GOPs/media.
Hey VC, none of here beg. We respectfully request of our wonderful hostess, not beg nor demand.
Anyway, good to see you and congrats on first.
Oh, and yes, also on my list are all the wonderful folks here at TODville, and that does include you, front and center.
Apologies, Mr. Japa – poor word choice indeed. I will respectfully edit my comment to the Lady Mayor.
Yo Chips! Did you see those guys and gals on the previous post who were REQUESTING a Thanksgiving ‘sticky’ tomorrow? One mentioned something about a ‘wonderful hostess’, but I wasn’t sure who that was.
You are too cool. So glad you are part of the TOD family.
Back at you, Japa! We here definitely have the best web family, IMO. :grin:
I think your opinion is spot on VC! We do have the best web family!
Full disclosure: I’m only watching this turkey pardon to see President Barack Obama :D
I want to see the turkeys too. :)
Tut! Tut! Tut! Shameful. No proper sentiment expressed for the poor turkeys. Just shameful, if you ask me.
I will be thinking about and expressing sentiment for the smoked turkey legs that I will be eating tomorrow.
:shock: You actually smoke them, before actually eating them!!! ;) To each his/her own.
In case I miss you tomorrow, GGail – Have yourself a great Thanksgiving celebration! Are you going ‘south’ or are you hosting?
Thank you my dear! and to you and my nephew too :-)
I’m here and I’ll be semi-hosting. My daughter is here from her Residency and is “passing thru Hotel GGail” on her way to hang with friends. I’m the spot to eat, shower, throw clothes/change clothes, run out the door and occasionally catch some sleep. But it’s nice to have her home….for a minute :-)
Well, make the most of and enjoy your minute! :grin:
O, forgot to say out late with your nephew last night as he recorded his ‘debut’ piano CD (or was it DVD?). It’s actually part of the packet for a course he’s taking – you know the one where he has to work on a biography with professional pics etc, etc. If you ask me it’s quite an expensive course given that all these frills have to be done ‘professionally’, but I suppose he’s at least getting the knowledge, and practice, of ways to market himself.
VC, this is soooooo exciting!!!
I’ll be looking for my snippet when it’s ready.
I must send him a note of support. He laughs at how I get excited over these progressive steps. This is the CD & Bio that he will be able to send out. I’m going to encourage him to send one to our new Conductor friend :-)
Thank you for the 411 VC!
My concern is that I think he does a better job as a clarinettist than as a pianist, yet he chose to do only piano for the CD. Of course, he would have needed to have an accompanist if he had chosen to include that, but ….
Do you argue with yourself often….?
:roll: Of course! Daily. How else am I going to get the answers I really want?
[Juanita Jean! ;) ]:
Houston Mayor Annise Parker was re-elected to her third term last month with a landslide. She got like 80% of the vote because she’s a damn good mayor. There were, like maybe, six candidates and there wasn’t even a second place. Honey, she was so hot that she glowed in the dark for three days after the election.
Last week she announced that the City of Houston would start giving employee spousal benefits to same-gender couples who were married outside of Texas.
Holy crap, with the way Republicans reacted you’d think the only reason she did it was to distract from the computer problems of Obamacare. Jared Woodfill, the chairman of the Harris County Republican Party, pounded his spoon on his high chair tray and screeched that the Mayor has “abused her office.” Woodfill then proceeds to abuse her.
You gotta read this.
Rest here: http://www.juanitajean.com/2013/11/27/yeah-yeah-the-gays-are-messin-with-republicans-again/
I just love the way Juanita Jean uses her language:
“Jared Woodfill, the chairman of the Harris County Republican Party, pounded his spoon on his high chair tray …”
“Never mind her overwhelming victory showing that she has more support than a Cross Your Heart Bra.”
I agree, Gazelle. JuanitaJ has a wicked sense of humour! I enjoy the way she approaches things, even while chipping away at the Texas political stupidity (they seem to have so much of it).
That bird was too cool. Was it drunk? :wink:
Coulda been. Lovely-lookin’ fowl. Glad the eagle’s our national symbol, though!
True dat J’OB
That pardon was fast – good. (Don’t know who came up with this ‘dumb’ activity – yes I know it’s an old custom.) I was mostly interested to see if the girls would come out with PBO this year.
For those of you waiting on pins and needles, meet your National Thanksgiving Turkey: Popcorn. suntm.es/1eAymA8 http://t.co/WbqFFD6u5s— Chicago Sun-Times (@Suntimes) November 27, 2013
Sasha and Malia are so beautiful…they are growing up right befre our eyes ,…it warms my heart whenever i see them…smilin….they kept glancing at their father…as he read the proclamation,…i can’t help but wonder what their thoughts were…….hahaha
They’ve definitely grown into lovely young women. I think one of the things that President Obama is thankful for is that he has armed guards around them. They might not be so grateful about that. ;-)
What’s That Again About the So-Called IRS Scandal?
BY Bob Cesca
This is what happens when you make a big deal over nothing. Now it’s going to be more difficult for these obviously political groups to attain tax-exempt status. It’s similar to how Edward Snowden has made it more — not less — difficult for future leakers.
GA TODable TOD Gold for VC ;) Yes!
I came in, went to get a banana and some nuts to munch and then to watch my 1st Live POTUS Turkey Pardon and missed it? :shock:
Oh well, I will have to wait for a taped version, A UT Tweet Summary or a C-SPAN.org Video.
Feeling old, look how Malia and Sasha have grown! http://t.co/j5f4cOR67d— TheObamaDiary.com (@TheObamaDiary) November 27, 2013
You could be right, because I don’t think the President’s getting any shorter!
Wow. What a difference FOUR Yrs make :!:
They have also ‘grown’ in their reaction to the turkey ceremony. Heck, the president has too. I personally love the fact that they are doing their duty here with a certain air of detachment (IMO). I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the young ladies ‘last’ year at this event.
i knowwww…they are growing up before our eyes….Beautiful!
When you see the changes with the girls since first term you can understand the natural grayling of PBO’s hair even without the stressful job.
Sorry my IPad did not like the word graying. I forget to notice how it changes things I don’t want changed.
@colorabob @ShareThis Yes — all of us President @BarackObama supporters!— (@JOBoomr) November 27, 2013
That’s exactly it! YET they will refuse to admit the truth behind this loss of viewership and instead spin it as a decline in enthusiasm for PBO’s and/or “liberal” policies.
Yes, and they are “refusing to admit” themselves right into oblivion. I’m not even sure I’d watch regularly after 2017, because I am so very disgusted with their constant anti-President Obama spin.
For Jovie, if he’s here.
Jovie and Sec of State Kerry share something in common, a yellow lab puppy!

Welcome Ben! Hope you have a frolicking good time with Bo, Sunny, Danny, JovieJr, amkJr, BobJrs., and all of the other four-legged family members that I can’t remember :D
If healthcare.gov were running as well on 10/1 as today, there wouldn't have been any complaints. But MSM seems not to see that.— john miller (@deaconmill) November 27, 2013
[Uh-huh. Isn't Fager a little late in sending out CYA emails? ]:
Beyond Ms. Logan, who has been a rising star at CBS News, the review could have implications for the leadership of Jeffrey Fager, the chairman of CBS News, who is also the executive producer of “60 Minutes.” Mr. Fager sent an email to the staff on Tuesday, saying: “As executive producer, I am responsible for what gets on the air. I pride myself in catching almost everything, but this deception got through and it shouldn’t have.”
He added: “We are making adjustments at ’60 Minutes’ to reduce the chances of it happening again.”
I can see the Fox News coverage of this already, “Benghazi claims yet another victim.” [.....]
Sad and Horrific. This happened in PA. No national attention.
There was on in TN/MS 2-3 yrs ago where this lawmaker killed the Mistress. Now one drugged and raped? Only resigned after he was caught. The National media looks the other way. A Dem would be the News 24/7
NORRISTOWN, Pa. – November 26, 2013 (WPVI) — The former chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Committee is in police custody, charged with drugging and sexually assaulting a female employee.
Robert Kerns is charged with indecent assault of a person unconscious, indecent assault of a person substantially impaired, and other offenses.
The alleged incident happened on October 25th. The victim was an employee at Kerns’ private law practice at the time.
Prosecutors say Kerns met with the victim and tricked her, giving her wine laced with the sleeping medication Ambien. They say he then sexually assaulted her both in his car and at her home after she passed out.
Court documents say the assaults were violent and that the victim suffered severe injuries as a result.
In TN early this year:

Ms. Cottle, obviously feeling the heat, tries to find excuses…
.@mcottle If you are focusing on the headline, you clearly have no sense of why people were upset with your entire article. #Wow— Lizz Winstead (@lizzwinstead) November 27, 2013
I don’t excuse Mrs Cottle, but the person who created the trolling headline should get some heat too. He’s probably an editor…
Although I find it strange that she didn’t call out the headline until well AFTER she received a great amount of negative feedback on the article. I would think that the author has some knowledge about how their article appears in print (including the headlines) before it’s actually published!
No need of Ms. Cottle trying to save her ass.
I’m not buying whatever she is selling. That Cottle woman deserve the B.S. she is getting for that piece of crap article.
History of Turkey Pardon:
Most presidents have had turkeys formally given to them, but it was not until the first President George Bush officially used the word “pardon” during the ceremony in 1989 that the custom formally began……Other presidents had plenty of photo ops with their birds – Ronald Reagan used Thanksgiving in 1987 to make a joke about pardoning a turkey in the midst of the Iran-contra affair – but President George Bush was the first to grant an official stay of execution, in his first year in office.
Wow, this was the first live stream from the WH I could actually watch on my Linux based system, using Firefox.
Perhaps we can now retire UT’s tweet-athons ?
Just kiddin’ :-)
CNN is a joke.
Today they are tracking three of their ” reporters” racing to get to DC from NYC.
One by Plane
One by Train
One by Automobile…
I have no clue why, and I bet they don’t either
Maybe they want to “throw Momma off” one of them.
Because of the winter storm, I heard The Weather Channel mention even President Obama was having trouble “landing in D.C. and had to land at Andrews.” Go figure ~ I thought AF1 always landed at Andrews.
~~~ :???: ~~~ Is there a secret party going on at another venue?
Kinda quiet around here – huh?
I’m still at work…for another couple of hours and I’m trying to wrap things up so I don’t have to come in on Friday.
Ah! Okay, wrap away, then drive home safely to get the turkey ready.
Oh My! Thanks for the heads-up. Fortunately, I don’t have to go in that area today.
HEY!, I see that you’re following KTLA – look at you!!! :D
No, I’m not. It just looked vaguely familiar as it flashed by me on twitter.
You could have lied to me VC! I would not have known any better (hanging head)
:lol: :lol: Until you asked me to find KTLA.
The party can’t start without you, VC, so … uh … no!
Glad I caught up with you, honey bunch – here’s last night’s “find” for “our” exercise bike routines (nothing to do with Thanksgiving)!
:oops: I totally forgot about the bike – haven’t done a lick of exercise in weeks (months, really) – since about 2 days after you sent the last piece of music! :oops: I’ll take this as a nudge……for a fresh start……. next wek. /a very sheepish/ Thanks :neutral:
Hey, if shame and guilt work for you, maybe they’ll work for me! (I needed a nudge, too … )
Phew! I don’t feel quite so badly, now. (You’re a kind soul.) I had visions of you joining a cycling marathon soon, while I had totally forgotten that I was supposed to be making a periodic attempt to do SOME-THING!
Yes, I’m the president of our local cycling marathon group. NOT. Ha!!!!!
Anyone know whether Walmart actually improved their employee rights or are they just advertising how great they are while still being really bad?
no. they have not improved their employee rights
Probably the latter, since they’re in a big state of corporate denial!
Wasn’t able to reply to you directly last night, but did you see the info that LP provided in his tweets re: Senate and greater Iran sanctions?
Beware that the MSM theme of moment is that recalcitrant Dems are now the obstacle impeding Iran nuclear deal. This includes @Maddow.
She mentioned this on Monday and I guess yesterday too, judging by your comment. It’s also the wire services headlines now.
If the Senate does increase sanctions against Iran when they return on Dec 9 the greater sanctions would not take effect until after the 6 month interim agreement expires. This is consistent with what our President said on Saturday — if Iran fails to keep their end of the bargain they will pay the consequences.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain (or in this case the MSM, including emoprogs like @Maddow who thrive on causing trouble for Dems instead of supporting them [unless its more fun to make fun of the GOP instead]).
Thanks for this info. I always know to come here when I hear something disconcerting.
No, they definitely haven’t — they have been retaliating against workers who speak out / organize and those “we are such a great place to work” commercials are complete PR Company fabrications — actually featuring actors and even their Social Media Strategy director as supposed “associates”. I know it’s hard in some communities, but if you can boycott Walmart, please do.
I have been personally boycotting Walmart for about eight years now since I found out they treat their employees terribly. I lived in Juneau, Alaska prior to that with no Walmart. I try to convince family but making only partial success for my efforts. For some reason people like to buy crap cheaply.
Strangely, I received a phone call from a representative of Walmart on my cell phone that I do not give the number out to anyone except for my kids and family. They started out with words like how they want to reward their supporters with blah, blah, blah. I stopped them with “I am not a Walmart supporter and where did you get this phone number since I do not give it out?…” I also said to take me off their list as it is the last place I would ever go to get anything. The guy wasted no time in getting off the phone.
I love shopping at employee owned BiMart. Just bought some furniture from Ohio that is made in the USA with free shipping. My brother put it together for me as my Xmas gift from him. I certainly am liking that gift.
@ezweber @chowandchatter My experience @TheWhiteHouse today was unbelievable! #presidentialturkey13— Lara Durben (@MNGobbleGal) November 27, 2013
Many people actually enjoy the Thanksgiving turkey pardoning tradition and don’t have a problem with it simply because it’s PBO doing it! :)
If PBO was reading names from a DC phonebook, I would find it interesting!
Me too !
Will FLOTUS and the girls received the Christmas tree for the WH Friday? I hope it’s okay for the feminists like Ms. Cottle.
