Congrats on 1st Bob.
Thanks Jackie – was just getting ready to post that message at the bottom of the other thread when the new one appeared :)
Hi Chipstar. Hope you and Danny had a fabulous Thanksgiving.
A perfect day Jackiestar, I hope yours was too!
Yes thank you. Always wonderful when I am surrounded by family.
How are you & Danny doing this fine Friday early evening (EST), dear Chips?
BTW, am still waiting for you to post the ‘zoom in’ of that very fashion clever Sasha’s silver polished nails – perfectly coordinated with a pair of shoes that has likely caused the suppliers website to meltdown!!!
Danny and his servant are doing mighty well Bob, thank you!
I am ashamed to admit I failed to spot the silver polished nails, had to rush back and check the pics – you and Don have been our fashion spotters extraordinaire today, I doff my bonnet to you both!
:D :D :D
:D :D :D :D
Great to see comments from you, Layla. Hope you and your loved ones enjoyed a great Thanksgiving and that you remain in good health. Have been keeping you in my thoughts.
Dear Bob, you are just the most in soooo many ways!!!!!! Yes, good Canadian Thanksgiving a few weeks back. I hope yours was the finest! I am wishing you and your family the best! As pour moi, plugging away to the best of my ability!
Thank you, Layla, for the update. A day at time, enjoy every moment. All the best!!

Great tweet, Bob! Congrats on taking the gold! Hope you and your family had a fabulous Thanksgiving day.
Thank you, nath. We had a delightful time. Hope the same for you and your loved ones!
I am so proud of our President and First Lady. We are in for a busy three years and I am looking forward to the ride! Raising the minimum wage, immigration reform, climate change, voter rights and infrastructure.
Great list, Jackie!! Yes, so much we can all accomplish, together. And, with Afghanistan over & the economy steadily improving we just need to get everyone to the polls on 4 Nov 2014 and deal a decade’s long lasting, crushing defeat to the GOP.
Yes We Can
Hell Yes We Can!
I’m confused by something I’m hopeing someone has some wisdom about. I live in CA and we all know how well the healthcare exchange is working here. I went to the gym today with a friend who works at a doctor’s office, and she’s telling me that patients are calling freaked out saying they can’t get healthcare and they’re having to pay more. This is so opposed to what I’ve heard. I told a girl at work about the exchange and she went on the website and is very happy getting subsidies, as she has 2 part time jobs and her husband owns his own business. Why would someone working at a doctor’s office hear such horror stories? Anyone understand this?
It must be people paid by the Koch brothers to spread fear based on lies! Right wingers are using every means to misinform, scare, and confuse low information people about Obama Care. The so called mainstream media (which are basically GOP’s propaganda machines) are happily obliging in spreading negativity and scaring people about Obama Care.
I have no doubt the Koch brothers are speading fear. I think its telling that she’s getting calls at a doctor’s office.
I have a friend at the gym on medicare who had ovarian cancer in her family and got check ups regularly because of this. I told her since she was on medicare, preventative things were coverd. The doctors freaked her out. I send her the medicare website, plus a video on medicare and how it was effected by the new ACA rules.
I’m not sure all doctors are excited about ACA. She said patients are telling her they’re not getting any subsidies, which is not what I heard from the girl and her family at work. Are the doctors negative about it, or are the patients uninformed and freaking out?
It looks like PBO and the First Lady are praying with the fasters. Has there been a report about this?
Of course not. CNN is banging the drums of war on the disputed new no fly zone by China.
Yep, the Yosemite Sam of news!!!!
Proud to call them President and First Lady of the United States of America.
So am I ut. So am I.

Love my Pope! He and President Obama and Vice President Biden are cut from the same cloth!
Yes, I think they really are jacqueo. I just read those comments/tweets to my son, and he smiled and said, “I don’t know how he got elected Pope!” But we are grateful that he did.
I think he got elected through some “magic” or something! Ha.
i got emotional reading that article. there really is a sea change toward caring happening throughout the world right now, i feel, and we all know who has been out front leading the charge for many years now. when 250 thousand people showed up on the streets of berlin germany to hear CANDIDATE obama, i knew something special was happening across the globe. so thankful to be alive during this time and able to contribute to this revolution. forward!!
PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY VISIT “FAST FOR FAMILIES” ON THE NATIONAL MALL
America’s Voice Online
During their meeting, the President also held the shoe of an immigrant who perished
“The President and First Lady’s visit has reignited our spirits,” stated 67-year-old Medina who has abstained from all food for 18 days. “Their encouraging words reconfirm their commitment to immigration reform and the countless aspiring Americans who seek to come out of the shadows of fear and repression.”
Adding, “We appreciate the President’s words and concern over our health. We connected on a human level, discussing the moral crisis impacting our country and our immigrant communities. We are moved by their visit and hope to continue efforts in making immigration reform and citizenship a reality.”
God bless the President and First Lady – and, earlier, the Vice President – for visiting these families and “reigniting their spirits”!
Good evening after, TODville!
With little effort on my part, although I am a happy and eager matriarch, I am now the proud great grandmother of not one but TWO great grandsons! The littlest boy was born today at 3:03 p.m., in Florida, thus bringing more sunshine into The Sunshine State, as his older cousin did almost three years ago! All photos reveal a fine and handsome lad who may grow up to be Vice President of the United States – wouldn’t be surprised – at the same time my oldest great grandboy is President!
Oooooooooooh Jacqueline, that is gooooooorgeous news, endless congratulations, thrilled for you and your family, what a ticket your two great grandsons will make! Hugs!
Chips – Thanks so very much to you and all of the other wonderful TOD people for the congrats (as though I had much to do with it – Ha!). We are so entertained by the first great grandson, that I’m guessing the second will follow suit. That’s the real ticket!
JoB – you so put me to shame – 1 grandbabe and no g grandbabes is all I can muster – congrats to the parents – and may you continue to be overwhelmed by the joy of grandbabes. It seems you are working to add a new family dynasty to the history of US Presidents :)
Wishing you all much fun and love and happiness.
Congrats Proud Great grandma JO’B!!! :) :) :) What a fine and precious gift to have – a lot to be thankful for!!
Off to listen to this! Thanks, darlin’.
Congratulations, J’OB on the birth of your great grandson!
Congrats Mrs. O’Boomer.
J”OB, You never know. The youngest may wind up being President! You know, after all, Pres Obama is YOUNGER than Vice President Biden. Ya just never know…
Oh my!!!! Congrats!
Big congrats JB. Love ‘em till they’re full :-D
J`OB!!! congratulations on your new addition to your family :-)
Hear Ye, Hear Ye!! How exciting!! CONGRATS to you and all of your family!!!!
awww Congratulations great-grandma ~ best wishes to you, mom & dad, big brother and new ggrandbaby!
Congratulations, JOB. I couldn’t be happier for you. I hope you get to see the little guy very soon. To be a “great” grandmother at your young age is really an achievement. I’m a little older than you are and have only managed one grandchild so far. You must be feeling very happy tonight.
Can’t get the new little baby’s face out of my head! Another treasure to add to my treasures. And the oldest great grandson will be here right after Christmas! Yes, happy hearts here tonight (my son – the grandfather – is over the moon about his second grandboy).
Thanks so much to you – and the others – for all the sweet comments!
Congrats, Jacqueline!!!! How wonderful for your family.
JOB……no question “moonball boy” for president; I’m in
It’s about time ALL OF AMERICA figured this out!

I double dare you to imagine a new capitalist paradigm. Capitalism Redefined by me and @EricBeinhocker democracyjournal.org/30/capitalism-…— Nick Hanauer (@NickHanauer) November 30, 2013
What prosperity is, where growth comes from, why markets work—and how we resolve the tension between a prosperous world and a moral one.
Nick Hanauer & Eric Beinhocker
For everyone but the top 1 percent of earners, the American economy is broken. Since the 1980s, there has been a widening disconnect between the lives lived by ordinary Americans and the statistics that say our prosperity is growing. Despite the setback of the Great Recession, the U.S. economy more than doubled in size during the last three decades while middle-class incomes and buying power have stagnated. Great fortunes were made while many baby boomers lost their retirement savings. Corporate profits reached record highs while social mobility reached record lows, lagging behind other developed countries. For too many families, the American Dream is becoming more a historical memory than an achievable reality.
These facts don’t just highlight the issues of inequality and the growing power of a plutocracy. They should also force us to ask a deeper set of questions about how our economy works—and, crucially, about how we assess and measure the very idea of economic progress.
How can it be that great wealth is created on Wall Street with products like credit-default swaps that destroyed the wealth of ordinary Americans—and yet we count this activity as growth? Likewise, fortunes are made manufacturing food products that make Americans fatter, sicker, and shorter-lived. And yet we count this as growth too—including the massive extra costs of health care. Global warming creates more frequent hurricanes, which destroy cities and lives. Yet the economic activity to repair the damage ends up getting counted as growth as well.
Our economic policy discussions are nearly always focused on making us wealthier and on generating the economic growth to accomplish that. Great debates rage about whether to raise or lower interest rates, or increase or decrease regulation, and our political system has been paralyzed by a bitter ideological struggle over the budget. But there is too little debate about what it is all for. Hardly anyone ever asks: What kind of growth do we want? What does “wealth” mean? And what will it do for our lives?”

Highly consistent with everything we’ve heard from President Obama since the earliest days of his public service. And, similarly consistent with what the Pope has stated, this week.
A great dialectic is emerging, globally, for real ….
NBC local news showed NOTHING of PBO’s visit with the Fast for Families hunger strikers. Instead they kept concern trolling about the ACA website “deadline” of Nov 30.

Soon you’ll have another little one chatting you up on the phone. Does this mean you will be busy knitting something blue in the fashion of days gone by? There is still time before Christmas, after all (so says the one who knows nothing about knitting)! Remember the little booties and the matching cap? O, yes, and the little tiny, cute sweater. I can picture your fingers flying. Blessings on baby, parents, and extended family!
Thanks, sweet VC and everyone else kind enough to acknowledge my “feat”! And, no, no fingers will be flying here knitting anything, but what a sweet thought!
Oh Jacqueline, let me knit something…I learned from this guy:
Ha! That would be me – trying to knit!
Prez or not, methinks Sasha is the one who’ll give nightmares for the dad.
I just noticed she is almost as tall as her sister. Must be the silver heels.
Has any other president met & joined with the protesters in US history? Amazing.
I was thinking that very same thing, amk. Not sure I’ve heard of it before, either! (And thanks for the congrats!)
I thought I couldn’t love the fella any more …. but after this…..!
I know Chips! Can you imagine the aura of love around him!
Please scroll up a bit and bask in the essay that Nick Hanuer has just published and began tweeting about in the past hour or so … timing is everything :)
Seriously great tweet.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed your holiday!
I am so proud of PBO for talking with the folks who are fasting for immigration reform. I just knew in my heart when PBO spoke of his “good friend Eliseo Medina from SEIU” and their cause in his speech in SF the other day that he would go and visit with them and I really thought FLOTUS would go with him, too. So to see that this actually happened is such a THRILL. I’m sure it meant quite a lot to all of them.
It also reminds me a lot of the time Cesar Chavez went on a hunger strike for farmworker’s rights and Ethel Kennedy came to visit him. That was a big moment.
Ah, yes, I remember Ethel’s visit, now!
I remember that, meta!!
@fast4families Reminded today by #PBO & @FLOTUS of Ethel Kennedy's solidarity with Cesar Chavez cc @PeteSouza @OFA http://t.co/9i57GPkiKM— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) November 30, 2013
Thank you for the inspiration!! BTW, what has been reported is that she was whispering, teasingly, her family recipe for corn beef and cabbage :) Given her gumption and boundless good humor, I have no doubt that she would do just that to cheer him up!!
I read somewhere long ago that she had a deep crush on Cesar. She thought he was quite handsome and wonderful. I always wondered if he knew that.
And of course Ethel’s daughter Kathleen visited the fasting group today as well.
Thought it might be nice to tie it all together … anything we can do to keep the spirits of the @fast4families as positive as possible given that they are truly suffering – anyone who doubts that, just try not eating for even 2 days ….
@fast4families Wonderful that Kathleen Kennedy visited with you on the same day as #PBO & @FLOTUS. #FamilyTradition http://t.co/jxp9hfLXVm— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) November 30, 2013
Hello Ms. Chips. Thank you for that most inspiring picture above POB and FLOTUS joining hands in prayer with the Fast for Families protestors. It just makes my heart glad to know that we have two of the most compassionate couple in the WH who believes and practices what they stand for privately and in public. Fast and Prayer are the most power tools we as believers have to get results and lasting changes that will impact you forever.
Congratulations, Mr. Bobfr on being #1 in so many ways.
Still enjoying a restful, peaceful day. I pray that everyone had or is experiencing the same.
It’s hard for me to keep tabs on all the action this Admin initiates. Here’s one that’s been out of the limelight for a bit.
GENEVA — After months of delay, the United Nations said Monday that Syria’s government and the opposition would hold their first negotiations aimed at ending that country’s civil war in Geneva on Jan. 22. But the precise agenda for the negotiations, as well as a complete list of participants, remained unresolved.
The fixing of a date, which was reached here after a meeting of senior diplomats from the United Nations, the United States and Russia, was welcomed by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. He told reporters at United Nations headquarters in New York that he regarded the impending negotiations as a “mission of hope” to halt the nearly three-year-old conflict in Syria. More than 100,000 people have been killed and almost nine million have been driven from their homes in the mayhem, which has sent tremors of instability through the Middle East.
“At long last and for the first time, the Syrian government and opposition will meet at the negotiating table instead of the battlefield,” Mr. Ban said.
Another proud grandparent! Isn’t it sweet how all (great) grandparents think *their* little one is the greatest thing since sliced bread? (I’m also remembering Dotster’s announcement not so long ago.)

It’s bothered me ever since I was old enough – in the early 1960′s – to realize how much it represented our failing as a society.

Miami Gardens mayor calls new footage of police behavior ‘unacceptable’
BY JULIE K. BROWN jbrown@MiamiHerald.com – Posted on Tuesday, 11.26.13
For more than a year, the cameras at 207 Quickstop in Miami Gardens rolled around the clock.
They caught a police officer confronting a frail-looking woman, shoving his hand in her purse, dumping its contents on the pavement, then kicking at the scattered items before walking away.
They were rolling as another uniformed police officer handcuffed a 69-year-old man, then rifled through his pockets and ordered him to sit down while cuffed behind his back, a feat the man could only accomplish by falling on his backside.
There’s more footage: An officer grabs a plastic bag full of Red Bull drinks from a man, flinging the cans on the sidewalk, then picking up one and giving it away to someone in a parked car.
It’s not like the officers didn’t know they were being recorded.
They not only knew, the videos show, but in some cases, they relished it, taunting the store’s owner by waving open beer cans and cups, taken from customers, directly in front of the cameras as if the cans were trophies.
The store’s owner, together with a group of his customers and employees, on Wednesday filed a federal civil rights lawsuit accusing Miami Gardens police of racial profiling, illegal search and seizure, harassment and intimidation of the store’s largely African American employees and customers.
