      December 2, 2013 at 7:53 am

So are ABC, NBC, CBS etc telling people about this?

      • December 2, 2013 at 7:56 am

        Of course they aren’t 99ts.

The MSM is reporting that the ACA website is working…*.but* only on the front end; insurance companies say there are problems on the back end.

Are those same insurance companies trying to help resolve the “problems”? Are these “problems” preventing the insurance companies from billing the people who have signed up? Is this “working BUT” just the result of the MSM’s quest to maintain a negative spin on the ACA law?

          December 2, 2013 at 8:04 am

I remember when our universal cover started (early 1970s) – the insurance companies fought it all the way (it was a single payer govt system – but private insurance was available as an extra – rather than the “total” they had previously had) – it took a few years but they eventually accepted reality. In those times most insurance was non-profit – of course they have now followed the great free enterprise way & become for profit.

Almost guaranteed the GOP will be running on single payer in 2016 – to fix the system! It would be entertaining to watch – if it wasn’t such a critical issue for most people.

That new car is pretty BUT it has a speck of dust on the hood.
I am noticing the entire news media only reports the good on healthcare with an added “but”.
And you could add a “but” to almost any bit of news. There’s always a speck of dust somewhere.

NY Times front page “Insurers Claim Website is Still Flawed.”

MSM will be inventing a new reason to denigrate our President and his Administration soon, just you watch and see. This website failing thing is getting really Stale.

Dudette, you’re right about Aravosis, who went off the rails when Barack Obama got elected president. It must have been difficult to say something positive about anything that’s happened under PBO, so,yes, this is a big deal.

Well, Chips, that’s kids for you. By Christmas mid day, ours were already bored with their toys and looking for new loot. Our daughter takes some toys away each day and hides them. When she brings them back out a few days later, our granddaughter thinks they’re new and enjoys them all over again. Worth a try.

My how he has grown! Looks like he’s already a teenager! Sure hope he’s nice and gentle with his new chicken friend, that you’ve taught him well.
(Danny and I are alike—-I had a chicken friend with I was a wee toddler—-a real live chicken—–on my grandparents’ farm—–multiple photos of me carrying around the poor thing with my arms around its neck. Until—-one day—–Sunday dinner. Sad ending to true story)

      • December 2, 2013 at 8:45 am

“Sure hope he’s nice and gentle with his new chicken friend, that you’ve taught him well.”

Dotster, the chicken appears to be stretched to double its original size. It’s WWIII in the garden.

Your chicken story is tooooo funny, at times I have been tempted to cook Danny for Sunday dinner, but I’ll resist ….. for now.

Morning everyone!! Did you all see this? http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2013/12/02/immigration-military-policy/3799627/

The policy, which went into effect Nov. 15, allows the undocumented spouses, children and parents of military personnel to be “paroled” into the United States.

Once paroled, undocumented relatives then will be able to apply for green cards without first having to go back to their home countries, where those who entered illegally face bans from returning to the U.S. for up to 10 years.

Thousands of military families may benefit, experts say.

You think they’ll hit the target of 7 mil by March ?

    • 62 forus50
      December 2, 2013 at 8:39 am

Difficult. As you know the 7 million goal is for private signups and so far only have 230,324 so it’s a very long way to go. Looks like Connecticut won’t have any trouble meeting their goal. I read on Slate that Oregon hasn’t been able to sign up anyone – Larry Ellison’s Oracle company got the bid and they are having major tech problems. Bill here I know would know more about it but the chart does show zero for Oregon.

I think the HHS should launch a well publicized competition between states. Without something like that I don’t see how it happens.

    • December 2, 2013 at 8:40 am

I think that any number of the previously uninsured or under-insured who sign-up for and receive insurance is a big deal, and I’m sure that number will be significant.

I also think that sadly, there is enough cynicism and distrust about any system/agency purporting to help those in need (especially if there is a link to government) that it will result in many taking a wait and see approach.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/12/02/us-usa-economy-idUSBRE9AO0H120131202

U.S. manufacturing growth rebounded from a one-year low in November, while factory output grew at its fastest pace in 20 months, an industry report showed on Monday.

Financial data firm Markit said its final U.S. Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index rose to 54.7 from 51.8 in October, which had been a one-year low. November’s reading was the highest for the index since January, and stronger than the preliminary reading October of 54.3.

A reading above 50 indicates expansion.

The rebound in the main index from its October level, which was negatively impacted by the 16-day partial U.S. government shutdown, came amid faster growth in output and new work intakes.

Output grew at its fastest clip since March 2012 after nearly flat-lining in October. The subindex jumped to 57.4 from 50.6 and was stronger than the preliminary 57.1 reading.

New orders rose at the fastest pace since January, with a final reading of 56.2 beating both a preliminary November figure of 54.9 and the final reading of 52.7 in October.

    Who’s fault???
