Their smiles – Mandela's, PBO's, Pope Francis's – combined with their commitment to 'equitable opportunity' define their potency. #HOPE— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) December 06, 2013
#FORWARD Together & Thank you LP!
FYI, Chips. Wanted to thank LP for his tweet which was how I first saw this stunning tribute by Dr Angelou.
Lovely that you’ve posted it as it’s own thread.
It’s so beautiful Bob, on my third play.
Chips and TOD thanks for the lovely threads paying tribute to a real icon.
A pleasure COS, wonderful posts from LP and LL.
Special thanks to LL and LP also.
Will be watching that video and President Obama’s speech on ‘equitable opportunity’ throughout the remainder of my life – especially in moments of doubt as to why I should persist in the very difficult task I’ve been pursuing for a very long time.
It was great speech. I could not take my eyes off the tv while he was talking. I hate to say it, but I really, really enjoyed the Tweety interview also. I am sure it brought Tweety good ratings.
It was Tweety’s best interview ever, COS, if you didn’t watch the pundits that followed. And I didn’t!
TY, Bob. I’m glad Chips highlighted this beautiful poem…..
Beautiful @StateDept video, @DrMayaAngelou presents a poem in tribute of the late Nelson Mandela. "His day is done" youtu.be/PqQzjit7b1w— The Lovely Plains (@DaRiverZkind) December 06, 2013
I just got chills from your tweet, Bob. Beautiful.
Thank you Jacqueline. As do others, I pay a lot of attention to people’s smiles – much more than happiness can be conveyed and, for those three, a vast depth of human capacity is obvious in their smile. It’s why children are immediately attracted to them and why those of evil intent are totally fearful of them.
More chills – Ha! But, ya know, if we ever all meet at a future TOD reunion (with President Obama and Vice President Biden as our special guests), I’ll bet we’ll know YOU by your smile.
Thank you LP & Chipsticks for bringing this beautiful tribute by Dr. Angelou to TOD for all of us to see & hear!
Bobfr – I am sending you strength to continue your pursuit. “Difficulties break some men but make others.” ~Nelson Mandela~
Thank you Gail :)
I will never forget this day:
What a hero. What a mighty legend. What a humble yet magnificent man.
There really is no one quite like Dr. Maya Angelou. She reaches into your soul and and warms you up.
Totally agree. She’s another soul I wish could “live forever.” Her words will, of course.
Don’t forget the replay of yesterday interview with PBO just started on MSNBC
Some beautiful photos @ The Sowetan:

BEAUTIFUL Tribute! ••►’His Day is Done’
It’s absolutely beautiful. So much respect and love. Will share far and wide. Thank you.
Madiba quotes. Last one had me cackling!
“I now know that when my time comes, Walter will be there to meet me, and I am almost certain he will hold out an enrolment form to register me into the ANC in that world, cajoling me with one of his favourite songs we sang when mobilising people behind the Freedom Charter…” — On the death of struggle stalwart Walter Sisulu in 2003.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever die. There is that possibility. If that happens I’ll move to the next world… and the first thing I’ll look for will be the nearest branch of the ANC.”
“I voted for South Africa.” — Asked which party got his vote in the 2000 local government elections.
“At least we have the right to get drunk.” — After South Africa failed in 2000 to clinch the 2006 soccer World Cup tournament.
What a lovely tribute by Dr. Angelou. Thanks Chips, for posting! :)
Isn’t it just beautiful Hopefruit?
Indeed Chips. Will have to do a few replays like you and the others :)
