Not to change the subject, but this is a HUGE Obamacare success story! Sorry for HP, but here it is.
Hi DF! Congrats!
My night owls TOD peeps. I need a favor. PLEASE vote for these folks:
They are fierce advocates for public schools and specifically children with special needs in Philadelphia.
PARENTS UNITED FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION as “Non-profit of the Year” & EILEEN DUFFEY, RN, as “Do-Gooder of the Year.”
And as other TODers have mentioned, there is also category for EX-COMMUNICATION, Gov. Tom Corbett is a choice. It’s the only time that I have EVER voted for him.
Greetings from Albuquerque!
Greetings from a blue oasis in a red desert! :-)
 I know I’m hanging too much in the TOD village when I actually got that reference right away.
:-D :-D :-D
Too much TOD? No such ting, meh darling!
I think if I could qualify myself as a psychotherapist I could make some funds treating recovering TODers after 2016. There has got to be a few cogs loose for most of us regulars. ;)
Good night! I’m fading fast.
I will need intensive, long term treatment. Starting Jan 19, 2017 (in fact, starting election night, 2016). Actually, even the thought of this is depressing – I need to sign up for treatment right now! ;)
My receptionist will be in touch – as soon as he is hired.
Red HOLE in a serious blue state, Dudette. This election season….nothing but rethugs on the ballot. Not one dem, lib, prog…..just unopposed.
Thanks, LL:) Araphaho..if you’re here…he must be a new guy:) Never heard of him, but then, I tend to stay away from broadcast news. Even local.
LL…Your question about whoever that was that was trending on Twitter….the answer is on Raw Story right now. Not bringing that smut here.
Oh, I read the story, because I was curious. And still, why is she STILL trending on Twitter hours later? It’s amazing.
Oh who knows. People are idiots that thrive on this kind of titillation. Annoying.
Live English stream of the Kiev protests. Storm troopers are clearing the square.
I wondeer if John Kerry is working the phones right now…
Thank God for the Internet. The regime can’t be too harsh can they? The world is watching LIVE.
They are being quite harsh now …. but the cameras are rolling ….
I’m rather surprised about that. Dictatorships aren’t what they used to be. Lots of ways to get out information.
Wonderful post LL! Much needed! Thank you!

Love this law.
Wonder if PBO should have massaged someone’s shoulders? OMG. Just the THOUGHT of GWB doing that makes me ill. He had no class or social graces
.. or thrown up on someone. Or started a war for no reason.
Well, yes…there’s always that!
Not to mention leaving 10s of 1,000s of fellow Americans to drown or die of thirst or starve and definitely suffer from a hurricane…
That’s why he took with him some of the guys who actually did all those things…
… or tanked the world economy
… or ignore warnings that terrorists planned to blow of the WTC
We could go on and on and on and on and……. Could be the topic of a whole separate site. Probably is! Not worth our energy but to this day PISSES US OFF! How in the hell that stupid, ignorant, privileged little spoiled fucker slipped on the banana peel of life and ended up in that office WITHOUT BEING ELECTED. Ok, I’ll stop. (Probably not!)

So sad to see this beautiful memorial day tarnished by the repression in Ukraine.
What’s happening in Ukraine has Putin written all over it. To think that some people looked at Putin as a hero a few months ago. Poor fools. Putin is and has always been an authoritarian, a bully. He stalled on the Syria situation during at least two years, and only relented after President Obama, who didn’t have any choice, made a serious threat.
Completely perfect LL, you’re a treasure, thank you so much.
You’ll love my night owl chat for tomorrow night!
Peace & love from the State of Washington. :) >^..^<

 Out of wack! O well, that was my moment of ‘creativity’ for the day.
Other than a bit of jaw re-alignment…looks good to me, vc.

Your President is hailed by the world as everything that is good in the USA – and the US media is fixated on a handshake. If ever there was any doubt that the GOP and the US media are warmongers and racists of the worst kind – this is it. They would prefer the US to hate on every country, every person who is other than a white male anglosaxon.
They pretend to believe in democracy and are doing all they can to turn the US into the new version of apartheid. They learned NOTHING from the life of Nelson Mandela – and are learning nothing from the life and times of PBO. There are times when I forget to be like Nelson Mandela – and sometimes – whether Christian or not I need the words pounded into my head “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”
Excellent commentary 99ts. This should be front-paged. Something about PBO’s excellent speech and uniquely warm reception from the people of SA today made the US media VERY uncomfortable – because it spoke an undeniable truth that none of their silly reports can ever obscure.
Chris Cuomo of CNN got defensive when called out on his silly and childish focus on the handshake. He tried to act as though he simply reported about it in a nonchalant way. I pointed out to him that PBO shook the hands of every dignitary and head of state he came into contact with – so why is the media singling out one handshake, crickets from Cuomo.
Well said, 99.
Truth seems to be something the US media often forgets.

Have a good evening folks. Lots of work to do tonight.
Thanks africa – excellent points!
I think today the US media was truly dumbfounded, if not STUNG by the exceptional reception that PBO received at that memorial…I will admit that even I was a bit surprised by the almost unique appreciation for PBO that the people displayed. Yes, I was expecting a positive reaction from the crowd, but this had a uniquely reverent and sharply contrasted element that simply blew me away. This is one for the history books…long after the handshake, selfie, and other US media-manufactured nonsense have faded into obscurity….
That’s my “Let me Finish” segment for tonight! :) :)
Wait for me Hopef so I’ll have some company to cross the parking lot! Though I wasn’t surprised by PBO’s reception, this is actually a good note for me to ‘finish’ on too. Except for food and nature breaks I’ve literally been hanging in the village since minutes before 4am! Enough’s enough, I’m going to get some sleep, I Hope!
G.Night/Morning TODobots, wherever you are!
Thanks vc – have a good nite, and sleep tite! I know that nothing will bite! :)
TY. TY. TY, Hf. Couldn’t handle being bitten tonight at all! Let’s go.
HF2, your “Let me Finish” segment is spot on. You have a way with words that expresses what I would like to say. You do not miss a beat.
Thank you. Thank everyone here for keeping this day truly memorable for a humble man who just wanted freedom for his country and its people. The world is better because of his humble, loving, forgiving spirit.
Thanks LDS. I appreciate your kind words :)
Don’t linger in the door. I’m heading for the barn along with everyone else. I’m bushed!
Good night, VC and Hope. I’m just getting on TOD and everyone’s leaving… Sleep tight!
TY. It was bad, only woke up 3x before the phone rang.
The commentary in my world – after the event – “President Obama and other world leaders spoke at the memorial for Nelson Mandela” – no “let me finish” required after that one.
Heh! Case closed. :)

Bob, I feel sick about this. World leaders have to join in a massive condemnation of Yanukovych and his puppet master, Putin. Yanukovych has lost all authority to lead–he’s nothing but a repressive dictator who thinks he can just model Stalin and start killing and injuring people. He has to be removed.

Our press is amazingly positive – especially about that handshake – what a difference to the US press
“Handshake between Barack Obama and Raul Castro offers hope for US-Cuba ties”
Analyst Jorge Gomez Barata said the Obama-Castro handshake was simply a result of “Mandela diplomacy” – and a testament to the example set by the anti-apartheid icon and South Africa’s first black president.
“Mandela did not know that such a meeting was going to occur … but he most certainly cleared a path that allowed for the avoidance of confrontation and created the basis for such an important meeting.”
heh ut, hats off.
heh bt, start your own friggin’ teevee.
Jeez, been on teevee for years, keep up Mister
“heh bt, start your own friggin’ teevee.”
A very good, and biz-ness worthy suggestion, amk. The audience for accurate news – local, State, Federal, Global – is enormous. None of the US broadcast biz’s are fulfilling their responsibility regarding their rights to use public spectrum.
And when it starts – let folks watch it worldwide – I’m so sick of reading “this video is not available in your location”
heh, fab job is fab job.
No, not you jaquiline.
I think POTUS is going to get the long term unemployment extension. Here’s a portion of his comments tonight on the 2 year budget deal:
////Today’s bipartisan budget agreement is a good first step.//////
And while today’s agreement is a good first step, Congress has a lot more to do on that front. In the immediate term, Congress should extend unemployment insurance, so more than a million Americans looking for work don’t lose a vital economic lifeline right after Christmas, and our economy doesn’t take a hit. And beyond that, they should do more to expand broad-based growth and opportunity – by creating more jobs that pay better wages, by growing our economy, and by offering a path into the middle class for every American willing to work for it.
If I was a betting person, I would bet Pres. Obama gets long term Unemployment Insurance before end of year. talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/obama…— ForUS50 (@FORUS50) December 11, 2013
Was just about to post your tweet – I completely agree.
it’s been a good day, huh hopefruit? This news on a budget means the gears are finally moving.
I was at work all day so just now got a chance to listen to our President’s tribute to Mr. Mandela, Just beautiful, wow. Once again showing billions around the world that the United States has the capacity to provide leadership through dignity, grace and unity. Not sure it erases all the harm we caused around the world during GW Bush era but I’ve never heard that thunderous applause EVER for any elected official before. He is changing the world.
President Obama and democrats have “isolated” the problem of UE benefits. They will apply political pressure to republicans so they don’t cut benefits before Christmas. And democrats will REFUSE to touch the present budget deal.
I’m afraid that the President will , AGAIN, see his Christmas vacation cut short. But he will WIN. AGAIN.
It wouldn’t be Christmas if the GOP didn’t separate the President from his family for part of their vacation – only GOP Presidents are allowed to have vacations.
With that communist handshake, Obama screwed the bankers too.
What a day.

What a voice of reason this woman is. I hope she can make a difference.
Did anyone catch any of Rachel tonight were she were talking about the media wanting the Sandy Hook 911 tapes released. They sued and got them released and it was up to the media to play the 911 tapes, well most decided not to play the Sandy Hook 911 tapes, except for CBS and Fox. They played the tapes. If I ever had any doubt that CBS News ain’t worth shit, I no longer have any doubt. I used to respect Scott Pelley so much. But CBS has really sunk low. They are disgusting.
Very ugly situation in the maidan now …
People will begin pouring into Kiev at 6a (about 1 hour from now) as the public transportation system begins functioning. Undoubtedly they are all witnessing the massive police presence and the violent behavior of the police which has now intensified.
Reports of cars loaded with protestors headed to maidam …
The question which is paramount: How much force is Yanukovych willing to use? Assad-sized force? Ukraine is not Syria. Ukraine, whether Yanukovych likes it or not, is European. And Putin won’t be able to protect him.
Yanukovych is likely smart enough to know not to emulate Assad, LL. For the sake of Ukrainians let’s hope that that is the case.
More and more protestors arriving …
Back! And this:
They’ll REALLY have a cow when he moves to open commerce again with Cuba —-once Castro agrees to whatever the hell POTUS wants him to agree to. :)
