For the last in my Christmas music series, let’s have a little visit with Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, et al. It’s the golden age of Christmas pop songs!
Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song
Dean Martin – Let it Snow
Gene Autry – Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer
Bobby Helms – Jingle Bell Rock
Perry Como – Silver Bells
Chuck Berry – Run Rudolph Run
Frank Sinatra – The First Noel
Johnny Mathis – Winter Wonderland
May your Yule be blessed and may you bask in the comfort of family and friends.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night!
Merry Christmas Judith and G’nite! Sleep tite and don’t let “mission accomplished” Snowden bite! Congrats on #1 :) :)
And a very merry Christmas to you Judith!
Merry Christmas Judith.
Congrats on First.
Good night :D
Merry Christmas & sweet dreams Judith
Merry Christmas. . .
Happy New Year. . .
Merry Christmas CarolMae – all good wishes to you and your family
Thank you, enjoy your great weather!
I love Belafonte’s version of “Mary’s Boy Child.” I believe it was also the original version but I could be wrong.
Hmm, does this one fit the theme? :-D
Childhood memories – my grandmother used to sing it – and she sand Danny Boy and she sang this one
Oh dear – how dated it this – think I will give it away – not my favorite any more.
The oldies are still good! :)
The words – are not reality any more – is how I see it – but we used to cry our eyes out when my Grandmother sang it.
She passed over 50 years ago – I think I have reached the age where I can remember 50 years ago – but not yesterday! Oh dear.
Be thankful you’re still remembering, and that you’ve got lovely memories to remember! :)
No worries. It still has legs.
Thank you yardarm – may all good things happen for you this Christmas – and in the year ahead.
May have peace, joy, and contentment.
Company gone, now I can catch up. I love the golfing pictures. It is blustery here today, wind blowing, and slush. I love looking at the sunshine(of his smile) in those pictures. You have brighten my day. Now I can listen to music as I read the posts.
Nat King Cole, Chestnuts roasting on a open fire, that is one of FLOTUS favorite Christmas song.
I can listen to these as I prepare to retire for the night.
End of the year work is wearing me down and I don’t get a chance to play with my TOD family :-)
I have been entrusted by my mother unit with starting the Christmas Eve lechon asado. Fortunately, she got someone else to actually stay there and watch over it.
What is lechon asado?
Lechon asado is the Cuban national dish. Translated simply, it’s roast pork. But, oh oh oh, it’s so much more than that. It IS Cuba. It is hundreds of years of history. It’s families gathered around tables on Christmas Eve for generation after generation. It is memory and culture. Even if I ever wandered into vegetarianism, I would break my vows on Christmas Eve.
Oh, LL, that sounds wonderful. I am going to have to look it up. I love traditions from everywhere. Thank you for sharing. These are the best shared knowledge. Have a wonderful Christmas eve.
Obamacare deadline extended until Christmas Eve. #lastword— The Last Word (@TheLastWord) December 24, 2013
The deadline to sign up for January 1st, 2014 coverage on the federal exchange marketplace (healthcare.gov) was extended until Dec. 24th, 2013. Over 850,000 visits were logged today so it’s accommodating lots of people.
What was the original date?
So much demand is why I said the deadline should be extended to March 31st.
The deadline to get coverage on January 1st, 2014 was Dec. 23rd, 2013. This extra day causes no harm. It only helps thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people.
The overall sign up period for ObamaCare is October 1st, 2013 – March 31st, 2014. That was always set in stone. That’s how it has been since ObamaCare became law in 2010. After March 2014, the penalty kicks in.
This is good news for me, as I thought I was signed up and fully covered; but have a letter today describing a qualifyng process called a ‘spend down’, which somehow activated in August THIS year, and unless I meet the payment demanded by 2/28/14, I cannot access a healthcare provider. I am confused and more than a little upset, as I am very much in need of finding a provider super fast. I will hope I can get it sorted out tomorrow on the phone. My heart fell at first when I thought today was the last day to enroll, and I would have no recourse but to wait until mid-March. These poor aching bones will not get me through until then!

As they say in the ‘hood, “Sh*# about to get real up in here!”
My favorite part is “Mommy and Daddy are mad!” – a couple days before Christmas, with the high excitement level in the kids who believe in Santa, all Mommys and Daddys are “mad” and threatening “Santa won’t come”! Well, maybe all of them aren’t saying that “won’t come” part out loud, but they’re thinking about it!
:-D I heard those threats every year.
:) Why am I not so surprised, darlin’?

One of my favorite books which I used at Storytime this year is “Woof: A Love Story.’ Yes, it’s a kid’s book. I don’t care. It’s awesome. Go to your library and get it. It fits in with the tweet’s theme.
Git it 9t9.

texted this to my daughter today.
Your pigeon is here asking for you. What should I tell him?
 What was the reply?!
She is on duty. Won’t answer my calls/texts when she is on duty,
May I ask: Why does she have a pigeon awaiting her?
When she was with us, every morning she would leave bread crumbs, rice, biscuits for a buncha pigeons that live in our apt building. Now that duty has fallen on the wifey unit.
What do you do, you ask ? Oh, I just sit and watch.
“Now that duty has fallen on the wifey unit.”
I soooooo want Mrs Amk Wifey Unit to post here one day so we can hear about her trials and tribulations with you know who.
who ? dunnowhatchertalkinabout.
One of my fondest memories was going to the park with my grandfather and feeding the pigeons. Kind of a New York tradition.
Well, in our village called the city, there ain’t no central park. So the mountain has to come to moses. If it wants to eat, that is.
I just remember being shat on by one in Trafalgar Square.
Jesus, that’s one scary motherfucking bird.
Hyde Park, Sydney – my childhood memories again
Back to the chores – I will have earned my rest tonight – must tell Santa how good I have been this Christmas Eve :) :)

Well, folks, apart from grocery shopping there is not ONE aspect of hosting Christmas dinner for which I am completely ready!
So I drag myself online to cast a flash eye down the page, and what do you know, someone else chose Mom Dancing as one of their memo moments! It’s kind of nice to see same 2013 events resonating for different people, possibly for slightly different reasons. Of course, by the time I get done with Christmas and turn my pen to my 2013 memo moments, a group of someones would have penned them for me already. ;)
BTW, I’m only breezing through to get a quick pic (or two) of what the O’s, and you all, got done today. ;) ;)
So, so funny! It’s been QUITE a while since WordPress asked me for my ID; I guess I was off for a long, time…..for me.

Hey UT – many Christmas wishes – love the tweets
Wishing you the same, 99ts. :D
Yes, I would say the dog has some issues, he’s horny.
“What do they call fruitcake in Italy?” “Pannetone.”
The panettone in my world is much lighter than our Christmas cake – not as much fruit – but I am reminded – I just cut open my Christmas cake – being home alone – with a glass of vino – and it is the best ever. There is always a disaster at my place around Christmas – I’m waiting for it to happen.
oops, meant this one-
One of my favorites – I have an LP with this one! – no stereo any more to play it. Christmas wishes to you Susanne
