Love that. “In latest loving move.” Beautiful! We should all try to do more “latest loving moves” in our own lives, of course!

I treated myself to the TIME magazine edition with Pope Francis on the cover, and shall read it on Christmas Day to be reminded that we should “love one another.”

      Peace!

    This is awful.

A Santa’s helper delivering toys in the US city of Washington has been shot in the back with a pellet gun.

As a TV crew videoed him in the street, he said “Merry…” before staggering in pain as the pellet hit.

The man, who has not been named and is recovering in hospital, initially said he wanted to carry on with the giveaway but paramedics stepped in and took him away in an ambulance.

Chips….I sent you an email. Head’s up :)!! You want to know how lazy I am? I ordered dinner for tomorrow so I wouldn’t have to cook…is that bad? Honestly, I just wanted to sit around with my family and hang out, not be in the kitchen all day….my kids have to work, but not all day….prime rib dinner with all the fixin’s was just too tempting to pass up for me!

Yes the GOP want the poor to be drug tested to get food stamps, but what about the Congressmen and women being drug tested to serve in Congress.

    polar bear follows the president….

    ‘ KAILUA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) –

The polar bear protester who’s been trailing President Obama during his Hawaii vacation took off his mask Tuesday and spoke about his efforts to oppose a controversial oil pipeline thousands of miles away from the islands.

Bill Snape, 49, is an environmental lawyer with the Center for Biological Diversity in Washington, DC, which sent him to Hawaii to wear a polar bear costume with a message.

“We’ve been all over the country trying to remind the president: ‘Say no to Keystone,'” Snape said.
    ~
Snape, who teaches law at American University law school, also was at the University of Hawaii Sunday, following the president and entourage as they watched a basketball game.

As he spoke to Hawaii News Now on a sidewalk in Kailua at early afternoon Tuesday, people surrounded the bear and wanted to take photos with the bear, who’s called Frostpaw.

“Frostpaw’s a magnet. People want to have their photo with Frostpaw. People want to touch the fur, touch my head. That’s great. That’s what it’s all about. That elicits a conversation and questions. We talk about the Keystone pipeline,” Snape said. ‘

While I too don’t care for the pipeline, I would wish people & organizations would afford the President and his family some “down” time. It’s not like the President hasn’t spoken on the situation.

yes, he deserves a break. i’m just glad this protester is doing it with some humor and respect. love that pbo said ‘hi polar bear!’

        December 25, 2013 at 1:42 am

Indeed, AMK! The “loony left idijts,” as you call them, are targeting the wrong person. They should be out there pressuring “rethugs,” and blue dog Democrats beholden to the oil industry, who are clamoring for allowing the keystone pipeline to go into operation. The fact that it’s taken so long to allow the Keystone pipeline to proceed shows the seriousness of the Obama Administration about the environmental issues involved.

Merry Christmas, everyone! I’m here in GA cooking. I’ll probably be up more several hours. I’m just glad to see another Christmas and to see that the TODers are still doing their thang, especially Ms. Chipsticks, our blog priestess extraordinaire. I’ve been visiting everyday but not doing much commenting. I’m addicted to this blog! It has the best news, best pics, and best people of all blogs on the internet, imho. Have a great Christmas Day and enjoy the holidays. I know desertflower, Mary, and others are enjoying the break from school. I’m looking forward to hearing that our young ones like UT and College Kay are forging ahead in pursuing their goals. Go for it! You make me so proud!!! I want to thank every one of you for being the wonderful person that you are, and I want to warn amk, yardarm, and LL to be very good so that Santa will stop by their houses because I know they can be very mischievous at times. LOL

  19. December 25, 2013 at 2:11 am

The ravages on the United States of America due to 60 years of not heeding President Eisenhower’s warnings are now obvious – a plutocratic class, controlling a major political party, profiting from armaments and war mongering who have plundered the American middle class and have done more harm to more Americans than the Soviet Union, China, Al Qaeda terrorists, and any other ‘enemies’ could have hoped to accomplish without being annihilated.

What President Eisenhower proposed in 1953 …

“Neither the United States nor any other nation can properly claim to possess a perfect, immutable formula. But the formula matters less than the faith — the good faith without which no formula can work justly and effectively.

The fruit of success in all these tasks would present the world with the greatest task, and the greatest opportunity, of all. It is this: the dedication of the energies, the resources, and the imaginations of all peaceful nations to a new kind of war. This would be a declared total war, not upon any human enemy but upon the brute forces of poverty and need.

The peace we seek, founded upon decent trust and cooperative effort among nations, can be fortified, not by weapons of war but by wheat and by cotton, by milk and by wool, by meat and timber and rice. These are words that translate into every language on earth. These are the needs that challenge this world in arms.”

…. must become Americans unflinching priority in 2014 and beyond. It is the only sustainable path forward – the only one.

We have a Pope and a President who get it. In reality, the vast majority of the world’s population gets it and can readily identify with why the change is mandatory.

The experiment has been done, for 60 years. The results are obvious. Those who profit from armaments and perpetual war are the enemy – the bulk of whom happen to be American citizens. The only folk who can stop the experiment and begin the one President Eisenhower proscribed are US.

    Yes We Can

    Merry Christmas TOD

    • December 25, 2013 at 2:34 am

Have no idea how I substituted and ‘o’ for an ‘e’ …. regret the typo, but I’m not surprised given how exhausted I am …. it should be ‘prescribed’ not ‘proscribed’!!!!!!

… now for a bit of rest …

      • December 25, 2013 at 2:50 am

        Get some rest, Bob!

Merry Christmas Bob! I wish you and your family a happy and peaceful holiday season. Please take all the rest you can because you deserve it. I know of no one who has passionately and relentlessly championed our cause as you have, while at the same attending to a seriously demanding job. In my humble opinion, you are one of the treasurers of TOD. Your principled commitment to truth, justice, fairness, and humanity to all the people, shines through all your commentaries, the news and letters you share, and your incredible succinct tweets. I say take all the rest you need because the world needs to hear your principled, righteous and pragmatic voice.

Okay, I’m here! There has to be *some* honor in being last vs. first. I’m totally pooped, but bedtime wouldn’t be the same without catching up on the nightly TODing. I spent the evening with my sister, niece, and brother-in-law; as most b-i-l’s, he’s insufferable. I mean stupid (though well educated, which I’m realizing is less and less a factor w these people) and, well, I can’t go on b/c the fact is he’s dying of cancer. I’ve been biting my tongue for 20 years with his regurgitated fox and limbaugh bullshit. At any rate, I’m realizing I’m not a very good person, ’cause I still can’t bare much of a conservation with him. I will need forbearance, all this to say, I am soooo thankful that I can come to TOD and feel life’s in its proper place, afterall. Thank you all!! Merry Christmas!!

  27. December 25, 2013 at 4:31 am

There is so much good that President Obama has created for us. It just keeps coming to fruition.

….In 2009, President Obama and Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric K. Shinseki announced an initiative to combat veteran homelessness with the goal of housing every veteran in the country by 2015. The most recent nationwide homeless count found 57,849 homeless veterans in the United States, fully 12 percent of the total adult homeless population. Though that number is still unbearably high, it represents a 24 percent decline over the past four years…..

This gingerbread house is amazing. I looks like everything is made out of food. It even has a little Bo and Sunny out front and is decorated inside too. I would love to see it, but this time lapse is the next best thing.

  30. December 25, 2013 at 4:53 am

I probably shouldn’t be putting these here because you will start a rise and shine chat at some point. Maybe I’ll come back and put them in the new post, but I’m getting sleepy. Might finally be able to go to bed. Some more good news first. Helps workers and is a stimulus too.
