Congrats Carol on #1 :)
Thank you.
Congrats to CarolMae!
Thank you
Did I beat Chips? Oh myyy!
Want to know my secret? ;)
I miss him..Enough holiday…
Who do you miss? If it’s POTUS, considering all the B.S. he has to put up with from that crowd in D.C, the Republicans, the media, and at times the Dems, let him get some relaxation and rest with his family, he deserve it don’t you think.?
love this photo!
here’s some news too:
‘ The Italian motors giant Fiat has agreed to buy the remaining 41% of Chrysler it does not own in a move that will create the world’s seventh-largest car company.
Fiat has owned a majority stake in the US company since 2009.
The agreement ends drawn-out negotiations with the current owners, Veba, the healthcare trust affiliated to the United Auto Workers’ union.
The Veba trust looks after medical benefits for retired Chrysler workers.
The alliance between the two companies came amid the major restructuring of the US car industry following the financial crisis of the late 2000s.
The link-up gave Fiat access to the vast US car market, while Chrysler was able to benefit from the Italian firm’s expertise in developing small, fuel efficient vehicles.
Recently, Chrysler reported a 22% rise in third-quarter profits to $464m, with net revenue up 13.5% to $17.6bn.
The company said its results had been helped by strong sales of its Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Ram 1500 pickup. ‘
Good Evening Fabulous TODable TODers ;)

That is one adorable picture!
Just posted on the previous thread in response to hf2′s comment re: MMFlint
Here's a New Year's suggestion @MMFlint – emulate Mayor @BilldeBlasio & become Mayor of Detroit. That'd be truly progressive. #YesYouCan— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) January 02, 2014
Put him in the kitchen and turn the heat ….
Yes We Can
Awesome…glad you reposted this hear. I think every TODer on twitter should retweet this. Let’s turn the tables on MMFLINT and challenge him to BE the “progressive” change that he claims to so badly seek
Agree, hf. For any of these ‘celebrities’ – from Flint to Ed Schultz to Kos to whomever – insist that until they are willing to enter public service they are just noise makers not solution providers. And, we will not tolerate their efforts to suppress the vote as they did in 2010 and attempted to do in 2012.
Yes WE Can
Terrific idea! MM should put up or shut up!
Funny you said this…I was thinking the very same thing BEFORE I saw this:) Bloviating, self serving idiot that he is. Put up or shut up.
As always, well said.
My late dad’s Motto: Not to equal, but to excel.
MMFlint speaks of idealism, but Never offering ways to achieve his Utopianism. He is wealthy. He has the microphone. Yet he has stood idly by while Snyder(sp) and the TBGOPer controlled state houses in MI had decimated MI democratic system.
MMFlint was on TV on CNN, Current and MSNBC and he said nothing on Voting Rights in MI, 5 Cities/Counties where the gov denied elected officials their rights to govern. He was silent on Detroit. Until MMFlint is of DOING, I hope folks ignore his form of Kucinichism forever.
“My late dad’s Motto: Not to equal, but to excel.”
That should be every person’s motto, Nena!! Thank you for sharing it with us.
As to Flint, agree with what you, 99, df, et al, have stated. That dude gets zero tolerance, as should be the case for all #Emotarians.
Thank you Nena. Unlike true activists e.g., Eclectablog who spend more time featuring their actual work on the ground in MI and less time griping and complaining about what other Democrats (including PBO) should or should not be doing, MMFlint spends a lion’s share of his time on the TV screen whining, penning worthless articles, or tweeting crap – usually empty threats to PBO.
He has done NOTHING to help the local MI politics move towards more progressive candidates or legislation.
I thought I was talking to myself on the last thread – but a few people were there with me :). Michael Moore makes money out of “exposing” his views – he appears to have no interest in doing anything to improve anyone’s situation – except his own. Cannot understand why – as he had a massive following after the Columbine film – he could have stayed with gun control and done something worthwhile – but prefers to whinge because the President can’t force the RWNJs to stop with the hate of people and love of guns.
Ralph Nader, once a hero, and even Al Gore, a big climate change hero, kind of became too lost in themselves to continue doing good, as well.
I guess I shouldn’t be too critical – they have all tried – at some time – to do much more than I have ever done. However, I can add, I have not tried to take down anyone who really is trying to help the many – given what the three of them (and I add Clinton) could not achieve, their criticism of PBO and/or support for the 1% is very out of place.
Well said, 99ts. Very out of place.
What the hell was the point of Robert Gibbs talking trash about Sebelius, etc. on October rollout? I don’t understand why these people don’t know how to be supportive and not damaging when they leave the White House. No loyalty. I hope one of the changes in 2014 is a very aggressive and unified PR staff in the White House. Supposedly John Podesta is going to take this on.
.@davidplouffe Robert Gibbs isn't on Twitter but all over TV talking crap on O Admin. Thinks someone s/b fired re ACA rollout. #Traitor— ForUS50 (@FORUS50) January 02, 2014
Ah – I’m still talking to you on the last thread :)
:) no worries – I just keep both open. Plus discussing on Twitter. He should be introduced on tv as “the disgruntled former press secretary”. :)
Be interesting to know why he got that way – thus said Jay is so far ahead of him the change was a good move.
Thanks for mentioning twitter – you have some interesting conversations – I am enjoying reading them
Actually, I would describe Robert Gibbs as one of President Obama’s most loyal foot soldiers. If you are upset about what he is saying then it’s working. This is how Presidents get rid of people.
I’m glad Gibbs is gone, he is no Jay Carney.
I was reading History’s year in review. There were a lot of significant anniversaries. They shared many of the memories TOD did.
This Year in History: 2013 @history fw.to/mzeQPYW— CarolMae (@CarolMaeWY) January 02, 2014
The History website is much different than the TV channel.
Right on cue the local NY media is foaming at the mouth at the “negative tone” of the DeBlasio Inauguration.
Media so deep in bs and denial. They will dedicate themselves to demonizing the new Mayor, no surprise.
That means WE ARE WINNING, Vicki!!! And, let’s just let them know that we’re on to their nonsense and will not tolerate it.
#ClickOFF is the perfect response to them because that’s what hits their bottom line the quickest.
Bob!!! ‘click off !!!!! We should start a click off campaign!!!!!!!
I agree that we are winning Bob. Today was a shock to GOP’s idea that they are in control and deserve respect. I’ve followed DeBlasios campaign pretty closely and I did not see this coming. DeBlasio camp had promised surprises. Maybe this is what they meant.
Reminds me of the time POTUS tore Paul Ryan into bits while Ryan was sitting proudly in the front row thinking he was the hottest thing in town.
Vicki, Bloomberg was the proxy, today, for all that is rotten at the core of America. Mayor de Blasio, and every other participant in the ceremony, from 14 y/o Poet Laureate to Public Advocate, exposed that rot for all to see.
One of the finest moments in American history, imo.
I was wondering if they would. SMH
hahahaha – negative for the wealthy whites – that is the media in the US
Right. TOD was cheering during the Inauguration.
Congrats to you, CarolMaeWY…how did you sneak in there without the Chipster beating you to the punch? :)
I don’t know. Maybe she’s getting tired or Danny distracted her. ;)
Chips, the Daily a Butters website is have a month of training ideas for dogs. You might want to check it out. ;)
Why is spell-check throwing an a in front of so many of my words? I usually catch them, sorry I missed this one.
Because technology is FULL PROOF! Right???
but not fool proof :)
this quote says it all:
‘ Snapchat is a mobile messaging application that lets users send self-destructing photo and video messages. ‘ see–they meant to say ‘self-destructive’. :)
Well…they meant “self destructive” because you can’t see them again after a certain amount of time…they just “vanish”…poof! But your personal info is a keeper!
MMFlint forgets that In Theory, Governing is 1001% correct.
Just like House TBGOPers……saying No works best until Dems said No to at the TBGOPers’ zeal to shut the government down. Then Reality gets baked at a melting point.

@TheObamaDiary that grinding sound you hear is #MMFlint meeting the #TODTruthSTONE. Zero tolerance 4 #Emotarians suppressing the #2014VOTE.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) January 02, 2014
Go for it Chips!!!!
:-) Bob!!!! I actually used to have some time for Moore years back, but then I finally got around to reading Stupid White Men and his chapter on the Irish conflict was the most moronic, clueless, embarrassing, uninformed piece of drivel I have ever read. So, since then, I just laugh at the fool – and in light of his record on using non-union crew, it’s beyond comical that any genuine progressive takes this man seriously.
RW Bubble/ LW Bubble…makes no difference. They both think their shit don’t stink, know everything, and have nothing to learn. Screw them both
“… it’s beyond comical that any genuine progressive takes this man seriously … ”
Agree, Chips. Only ‘progressives’ who take the dude ‘seriously’ are posers – #Emotarians, as we fondly describe them.
I just wrote the President a letter in honor of today being the first day of the ACA. This law and my new coverage is so personally meaningful and life-changing for me. I volunteered for my local OFA this summer helping to get information to the students at our local community college in honor of my father, myself and a late friend of mine. Here is my letter to our President:
Dear Mr. President:
Today, thanks to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Americans can no longer be turned down for health insurance due to a pre-existing condition.
This law is personal to me and also in memory of my Dad, who went through his entire Cancer battle uninsured. He had just started working for a new company and was waiting the obligatory 3 months for his insurance to take effect. During that time he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and, therefore, had a pre-existing condition and no coverage!
My Dad died in 1993 after a seven year, uninsured battle with cancer. But I know that he will rest easier on the other side, knowing that what happened to him can no longer happen to his daughter, thanks to the ACA.
Today I also remember my friend Giselle who died a few years after my father. She worked as an independent contractor and, therefore, couldn’t obtain employer-based insurance. She was young but still couldn’t afford the premiums on the private market so she did without insurance coverage, ignoring some minor symptoms because she couldn’t afford to go to the doctor uninsured. One night, something seemed terribly wrong and she went to the emergency room. They discovered late stage ovarian cancer and she passed away within a few weeks.
I am self-employed and have bought insurance on the private market for years now. Even with my excellent health, every year the coverage got more expensive and covered less. The only plan I could afford had a deductible so high I avoided going to the doctor except for my annual preventative check-ups. Even those appointments filled me with fear that the doctor would order a test that wasn’t covered, since my high deductible plan meant I would have to pay for it in full.
Today, January 1st, 2014, thanks to the ACA and Covered California, I have an insurance policy with a monthly premium that’s a fraction of what I was paying and co-pays that won’t keep me from going to the doctor. I can finally sleep easy at night knowing that if something doesn’t seem right, I can afford to go get it checked out.
Thank you, Mr. President and everyone in Congress who fought for this law’s passage and for continuing to work for its successful implementation!
Beautiful, timely and personal letter, MadameSoph. I know that examples just like these are why he took this on. Thanks for paying it forward and educating those students about the importance and peace of mind of having healthcare.
Beautiful letter. So glad you shared it here.
Beautiful letter Soph. Your Dad is very proud of you I’m sure.
Wow. This is wonderful MSoph. So glad you took the time to write. Starting out the year right on a positive note! :D
MadameSoph, what a wonderful letter. This letter need to go to your local paper and any other media who will listen. We have to put forth good news about Obamacare as often as we can.
If you are on twitter, please share your experience with @ACASuccessStory.
I’m not on twitter, amk, but I have shared my story with friends and family who have forwarded and posted on Facebook. Good idea anniebella, I will try to find some print sources to share it on too. I’m in the middle of moving to a new house, so it may be a few weeks, but I think the need to shout our success stories won’t stop for awhile and I’m here to stay. This isn’t my last shout of gratitude to our wonderful President.
what an inspiring testimonial soph! i know our president and his staff will appreciate knowing how much their hard work is recognized, and necessary to the very lives of the people of this country. thank you for sharing your letter with us here.
interesting article about the economy in 2014–it’s going to be great but they just can’t understand how that happened!
‘ As the new year begins, most economists’ annual forecasts are brimming with good cheer.
“The economic news remains broadly encouraging,” the Goldman Sachs forecasters write in their 2014 outlook.
And the brighter prospects are not limited to this country. “The global economy is likely to emerge in 2014 with modest growth of 3.3 percent compared with 2.5 percent this year,” according to Nariman Behravesh, chief economist at the forecasting firm IHS Global Insight.
Most stock analysts also see more gains coming on Wall Street. JPMorgan chief U.S. equity strategist Tom Lee, who accurately predicted stock advances for 2013, says Americans are now in the midst of “a classic bull market,” driven by good earnings.
So, why all the upbeat forecasts? What has changed? ‘
then a list, familiar to everyone who regularly visits here, explains why the economy is so much better. they stop just short of saying, ‘because obama, of course!’
but others say (always):
‘ Lindsey Piegza, chief economist for Sterne Agee, writes that growth likely will slow a bit in 2014 “because the consumer remains under pressure from a lack of quality job creation and minimal wage growth.” ‘
now, i just want to point out that those two issues can be laid smartly at the doorstep of boner and the rethugs! so in conclusion, things are looking up, thank you mr president obaama! that’s what they should have said.
Michael Moore. In 2014…..your pimping for Distracting Dems and looking for Corporate media love in 2014 SHALL Not be acceptable. You want attention? Run for office. Win an election. Stop the idiotic attention driven self promotions.
2014 is for serious lefties of all stripes to KICK some TBGOPer butts and get Dems elected in 50 states form dog catcher to state houses seats and maintaining control of the senate.
Join MMFlint or step Out of the way.
little reminder how dumb this fake-liberal is, when he tried to suppress the vote for president obama shortly before the last election:
