MoooOOOooorning Early Birds!
Incorrigible – Good Morning Ms first
Good moooooooorning 99ts!!!
Chips are you out playing with Danny? You seemed to have left us alone to make mischief.
And the pictures are wonderful – PBO must have to walk the links with a perpetual smile – knowing the media are longing to catch him frowning – must be hard when the game isn’t going so well!!
As a beautiful snow falls over my part of the midwest I am still envious of the Hawaiian warmth shown by these photos. However, I can’t wish that reassuring and strengthening sun and warmth on anyone more deserving than our President and his family. May the warmth and strength spread across this community of brilliant, stalwart and down right clever creators, writers, commenters, and (mostly but loving) lurkers like myself. Blessings on you Chips, by the way.
What a lovely message catrst, happy new year to you!
They well deserve their time in the sun catrst – your comment is delightful – do lurk less
Hello and Blessings to you, ‘mostly but loving’ lurker, Catrst! We are auditioning for more involvement in 2014, so do ‘come on down’!
Hear hear! Couldn’t agree more!
Beautiful, catrst! Happy New Year.
Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD Family. I hope everyone had a wonderful News Years Day of celebration and rest. Congrats 99t on being first the lovely Thursday morning. It’s not fair that someone who opens the door to their business to declare themselves as the “first customer”
Happy NY ranman11 – but catrst’s comment was posted before mine – Ms Chips of course, cheats her way into 1st most mornings
Morning, Ranman! I’m giving Ms Chips the credit this morning as it seems she had 10 minutes of alone time to wander around the ‘business’ and do maintenance work. She didn’t squeeze her way through the door while grabbing the medal from the truly first customer. In fairness when she is (morally) right, I have to stand with her.
Thanks vc for the clarification. lol
Hey, it may not be the truth; just my interpretation.
PRESIDENT OBAMA vs REPUBLICAN DO NOTHING CONGRESS
1) President Obama – ’2013 Year In Review’
2) A Guide to the House Republican Do-Nothing Congress: 113th Congress Edition
3) These Charts Show Just How Good Congress Was At Being Terrible In 2013
NOTE: The House scheduled 239 days off in 2013.
Thanks for the links, LH. We put out a monthly e-newsletter to about 1000 people and I’m including these links. They’re terrific and will help people combat any claims by their R reps that they’re worth re-electing.
I have seen countless segments on network and cable television professing that 2013 was a terrible year for President Obama. They love to call it the fifth year curse. But the White House did something brilliant, they posted a 2013 year in review to help refresh the memories of the American people, the GOP and the talking heads. Surprisingly, a lot got done (much of it under the radar) in spite of the ‘Republican Do Nothing Congress’.
The rollout of the healthcare marketplace was clearly a problem that the media/GOP relished. But now that the healthcare.gov website has improved significantly and millions of Americans are getting health insurance for the very first time – the silence from the media and the GOP is deafening. So I guess it is back to Benghazi even though the GOP silly conspiracy theories have been completely debunked.
Facts are stubborn things. The Democrats have a lot to work with for the 2014 midterms. Every Democrat who gets near a camera/microphone should be hammering the GOP (with specifics) for abdicating their responsibility to govern. I still struggle to understand exactly what the GOP will run on in 2014. They got nothin….

This is from DKOS, but it one great read about the president’s year. Worth reading and saving. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/01/01/1266513/-President-Obama-s-year-of-failures
Jackie, you said you were from the Midwest? Would this newsletter help me get something started in WY and CO and MT? Could I get one, please? :green:
Ha! That was supposed to be
Carol, I’m from PA. The key to starting is to accumulate a lot of e-mail addresses. Since we’ve worked on campaigns since 2004 and have a monthly progressive meeting, our e-mail list has grown. You can start small, using the names you got in the 2012 campaign. Then whenever you encounter someone who’s a Dem, you ask if they’d like to have a monthly update. People are especially interested in the “calendar” where we list events coming up so no one misses them. If I knew how to send you one I would. Perhaps I could send it to Chips and she could forward to you. We’ll send ours out in another day or two.
I was really interested in what you included in the newsletter. I think I can get a few names. I’m also interested in writing letters to the Editor to rebut the foolishness in our local paper. Wyoming will take a long time I’m afraid. Way too dependent on fossil fuels. We don’t have to let that cloud everything. Thanks.
Jackie, your “homie” from eastern pa would love to be added to your mailing list.
Confirmed: This is the worst Congress ever
John Boehner Blames President Obama For Three Years of Republican Incompetence
GooOOOood Night, 99ts! GooOOOood MooOOOoorrrning, everyone else!
Hmmmm, looks like the lady Mayor was actually and morally first!
GoooOOOoooddd MoooOOOooorrrning Chips Chica, and Danny O’Cheesy!
O, GooOOOood Day, to anyone I might have missed!
GM vc – just saw your note on Sec Kerry – like PBO he seems to be very results oriented – and works 24×7 to achieve those results. We see a little of what was lost in 2004.
There isn’t any doubt in my mind that Kerry would have made a very good president, 99ts, but I don’t think we would then have had President Obama. Many people had to suffer and learn through eight miserable years in order to full appreciate the wonder that is Barack Obama.
it is interesting to think what may have been the options – and you could be correct – although I think it may just have been a delay for PBO – he could have been running in 2016 – Not sure what would have happened in 2008/12 if a democrat had been President through the Global financial collapse.
Given the magnitude of electing a black President – the lead in of a disastrous 8 years under Bush was an advantage.
I’ve decided (in retrospect and since things unfurled the way they did) it wasn’t lost; Kerry simply retrenched so that he now comes at this with greater focus, determination, inner strength, and in-your-faced-ness! The extra time Dumbo spent wrecking the kingdom also played into the nourishment of Kerry’s, and PBO’s, determination. I think.
I’ve never been a great fan of Winston Churchill, his oratory skills are beyond comparison, but politically and as a military leader – I’m not so sure of his outcomes. Thus said, I just read this remark – which explains well the disaster of having an ignorant person with no literary skills and minimal intelligence in the white house. Those who do not understand history, those who do not read and study are sure to wreck the kingdom. This comment could have been written for GWB – if only he had read it
“Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realise that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events. Antiquated War Offices, weak, incompetent, or arrogant Commanders, untrustworthy allies, hostile neutrals, malignant Fortune, ugly surprises, awful miscalculations — all take their seats at the Council Board on the morrow of a declaration of war. “
Before PBO I was never interested in (American/British) history per se but I’d say from the little I know of Georgie B, even if he had read this he wouldn’t have gotten the message. The man seemed to be lacking in so many ways and majorly dense IMO, I was flabbergasted he got a 2nd term! An image that comes to mind, on the rare occasion of him coming to my mind, is that video clip where he talks about terrorists in one breath and in the next says ‘Watch this (golf) drive.’
I truly find it more frightening that he hadn’t read it – Churchill created history – he also wrote it – mainly writing the truth (may have glossed over a few of his own short comings) – that any world leader would head off to war without a historical perspective of such is a disaster in the making.
Do you honestly think that many of the current senators/congresspeople voting for war, sanctions or whatever have ANY historical perspective? Frankly, I don’t think many of them have any perspective on what is happening in the world TODAY!
I agree vc – which is why I am such a fan of PBO – he reads, studies and understands – as does Sec Kerry
The dumbing down of congress is a very scary thing for the US and the world.

Good morning Chips and thanks Catrst for the lovely thoughts about the president in the warmth and sunshine. I hope he can store the warmth away to call on in his infuriating encounters with Boehner and his clowns. There’s going to be a lot of GOP deflecting in the months ahead as the House tries to place blame for their gross incompetence on the president and the Senate R’s blame Harry Reid and the democrats. We, like the president, will have to keep our eyes firmly on the prize and not get distracted by the media or the deflections. We have no Senate races in our state and have still not had one person come forward to challenge our idiot R congressman, but we do have a governor’s race and we absolutely have to succeed in replacing the nincompoop in our state house. I’m trying to gather physical and emotional resources for this big fight, but still fighting holiday lethargy. How’s everyone else doing?
G’Morning, JG! I say as it’s only 2nd day of 2014, relax into the holiday lethargy for a bit longer and it might just give up. Fighting it gives it incentive and energy to fight back. That’s my theory anyways. Have a great relaxing rest-of-the-week!
Ha! I never thought of that VC– “Fighting it gives it incentive and energy to fight back.” Okay, I’m giving in to it and will laze about like a sloth for the next three days. You are full of good ideas.
He’s so cute, that President Obama. I won’t mention again the need to pass the plate to get him a new pair of shorts—-because I actually have always loved that about him. I made the mistake of trying to share these photos with mr. dotster, a fellow golf enthusiast, and now he’s babbling away about HIS 3 holes in one and how I never paid as much attention to those as I do to Obama golf pics.
Looks like it was a PBO/Sam Kass winning duo from yesterday’s game——maybe the most attractive golf partnership in the history of time.
I totally agree dotster3. As soon as I saw the post this morning the first thing I said was: He’s so darn cute.
Good morning Jackie. With the recent successes of Obamacare sign ups and the good economic forecasts, I feel so much more positive about the 2014 elections here in Arizona. The wicked witch of the west Jan Brewer is term limited and we have a great candidate running for Governor. Fred Duval worked with Bruce Babbitt at the Department of the Interior and I haven’t heard of a Republican candidate as yet. We have a Democratic Mayor in Phoenix and he has done many good things, such as getting homeless veterans off the street.
J4O, if you can make progress in AZ this year, it will be a banner year indeed. I wish you well from the bottom of my heart.

President Obama’s Approval Rating Jumps 5 Points as Millions Sign Up for Obamacare
By: Jason Easley
Wednesday, January, 1st, 2014, 2:09 pm
President Obama is beginning 2014 on the upswing as millions are signing up for the ACA, and his approval rating has increased by 5 points according to Gallup.
The Gallup Obama approval daily tracking poll reveals that the president’s approval rating has jumped five points since the days before Christmas from 39%-44%. Disapproval of the president has fallen from 54%-49%. President Obama’s approval numbers shift wildly based on the tone of the media coverage that he is receiving, but media’s negativity was hiding a convergence of positive things.
Now that the ACA website is repaired, and millions of Americans are signing up, the media’s endless drumbeat of negativity has temporarily stopped. Without the Republican fueled Obama bashing from the corporate media, the president’s approval rating has gone up, and his disapproval rating has gone down.
Republicans and the media have consistently failed to understand, and in many cases actively worked to undermine, the fact that President Obama remains basically popular. For the sixth year in a row, the president was named the most admired man in the world. For as much as Republicans try to project their hatred and contempt for this president on to the nation, the rest of the country has never shared their feelings.
Obama’s poll numbers never went down by as much as the media and their pollster friends claimed. In fact, I would wager that for the entirety of his Presidency, PBO’s ACTUAL approvals remained relatively stable, hovering somewhere between 47-53. Any “approval” in the high 30s or low 40′s reflects a systematically rigged methodology.
HF, they HAD to have a gloom and doom scenario at the end of the year to 1) cover up the GOP failures last year after the govt. shutdown and debt ceiling fiascoes 2) depress enrollment in ObamaCare; and 3) encourage GOP expectations and depress Dem enthusiasm for the 2014 election. This was a concerted, well orchestrated effort that included poll rigging.
You nailed it jackie.
Yes Jackie nailed it. Both of you are awesome and relentless.
Of course, Rikyra, what supporters of the president have developed is a deep-seated contempt for and disgust with the media and the GOP.
Looks like the whole country supports gun control. Only the NRA, horrible congress people and uneducated goofballs are opposed.

Happy Thursday everyone. It’s the new year, PBO still my president. Obamacare here to stay. YES!!
I cannot help but note the STARK difference in tone when our “liberal” media is reporting on the GOP versus when they are reporting on the Dems, particularly our President and/or anyone in his administration.
Today I saw the NYT headline “Boehner is said to Back Immigration.” If Boehner were a Democrat (e.g., Nancy Pelosi), we KNOW the headline would have read something like: “Against Tea Party wishes, a reluctant (or weakened) Boehner concedes on Immigration Reform.” The language used when reporting headlines about PBO or Democrats is hyperbolic, and negatively slanted by the reporter – versus that for the GOP, which is usually reported in neutral terms, or even framed in a positive way to ward off any possible interpretations of weakness or conflict where the Republicans are concerned.
Hey media, we see you. As LL had written some months ago, there is no such thing as a “liberal media.” They are all a bunch of corporate right-wing hogs who play the “good cop-bad cop” game to keep people coming back for their crap. NO THANK YOU.
Hf, WE’VE seen the media hypocrisy for a long time and have never been fooled by it. Our big challenge is to make sure as many people as possible begin to catch on. My sense is that it has become more and more blatant since PBO took office. It was easy to demonize Clinton and unfairly swiftboat Kerry, but there were (and are) masses of people who love the president AND there are demographics and social media changes to deal with. They can’t ‘control the message the way they used to and so they’ve gotten desperate and very obvious.
I do not understand why 70% of NJ voters voted for Christie – perhaps a few may start to see who he is and what he supports
The local media in NJ has been very friendly to Christie, and the national media did not highlight his weaknesses but spent the year focusing on GOP manufactured scandals about PBO.
However, local politics has a VERY different dynamic from national politics, and the difference is even more pronounced for Republicans -as people like Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney found out.
99ts, they’ve got several years to regret their foolishness in NJ because I believe that the GW bridge fiasco is the first of many rocks that will be uncovered about Christie. I imagine the Clinton forces are quietly at work in NJ doing some investigating these days.
It’s still mind-boggling that NJ allowed one good gesture (Sandy) to trump the vileness of this man. Oh yes, they will regret.
I could certainly start my new year watching Pres. play golf!

Republicans vow retaliation after Reid uses nuclear option in Senate
The aide accused McConnell of acting like a sore loser by trying to force a vote on Obama’s jobs package after the Senate already voted to move to final passage of the China bill.
“McConnell isn’t happy unless the Senate is in a state of dysfunction. It personally bothered him this week that members on his side bucked him and voted to cut off a filibuster on a bipartisan bill so it could pass the Senate. He got hot under the collar [Thursday] and was grasping at procedural straws to try to tank a bipartisan bill at the eleventh hour,” said the aide.
Good morning TOD family, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I am a long time follower of this site and the information that you guys submit is unbelievable. When I come here, I feel as though I am in “TOD University”, learning and growing each day. My major, truth-in-politics. Thank you Chipsticks for developing this site, and all of the contributors for their insightful minds and writings. If you want to learn and know the truth, this is the place to be in 2014. Ladyhawke, old man McConnell is a miserable soul. How awful it must be to wake up every morning with such hatred in one’s heart; plotting, scheming and hating on the President, the best President ever. He is truly a pitiful soul and his time to serve is coming to a rapid end. We must get these hateful, non-productive, mean spirited creatures out of President Obama’s way in 2014, no exceptions.
Thank you Cindy for saying what I think too. I have a lot of tabs open waiting to be read. I guess the columnists are back to work. Last year was my first full year at TOD and I’ve learned so much too.
You are welcome CarolMaeWY,
Indeed this is the place for truths. The media is in with the repukes and they are out to destroy our awesome President. We must stay informed and fight back with truth. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Happy New a Year. They are in it for money, the idjits!
Today Show had a little segment on the Obamas xmas gift to the Obama daughters’ godmother, Mama Kaye, somehow was delivered to the wrong recipient, a resident north of Chicago. The recipient said they received a late delivered box delivered yesterday from a relative in New York, that it had been repackaged in a different box, all the gifts were opened inside and at the bottom of the box was this gift for Mama Kaye, signed by the Obama family. It was a photo book of all the pictures taken this year of Mama Kaye and the girls——the recipient gal refused to show on the air, said it was private for Mama Kaye—–and the gift has now been sent to its rightful owner, who I’m sure was happy to get it, even by its circuitous route.
Here’s some background on Mama Kaye, a long time Obama friend, babysitter of the girls, good friend of Grandma Robinson
It IS one grea read grrrr! Don’t let the title fool ‘ya.
Superb article filled with verifiable facts. Good overview of the year, totally rebutting the MSM’s stupidity.
Love to see the president looking so relaxed……..if anyone ever needed this kind of time, he did.
GM from snowy Chicago, where it has been snowing non-stop since 4 PM on New Year’s Eve. Fortunately, it is a light, fluffy stuff. Got around 10″ at my place. Area wide anywhere from around 15″ down to 4-5″. However, did take me 3 times longer than the norm to get to work today.
Quick comment about poll numbers. I don’t pooh-pooh the poll numbers. Instead, I use them as motivation. Sure, maybe the actual numbers are higher, but then again, maybe not. We would be as blind as the GOP was in 2012 to totally dismiss them. The GOP just assumed they were wrong and didn’t do anything to really make up ground. Let’s use this as motivation going into this fall’s elections.
japa, I am not against all polls. However, I do not accept media sponsored polls (e.g., NBC/Rupert Murdoch-WSJ, CNN/WashPo, ABC/NYT, etc) because, I strongly believer they are created with a pre-defined outcome to manufacture a news narrative.
I could not disagree more. People are wise to not allow the corrupt msm to affect their perception of reality with polls designed to reinforce the msm created meme of PBO’s supposed horrible 2013. Polls in 2012 used outdated models that grossly underrepresented the Black anbBrown vote. Pollsters like Gallup destroyed its reputation to create polls that exaggerated Romney’s support. It is foolish to blindly accept anything the msm puts out. How many times does the media have to lie to you before you understand this unfortunate reality. In 2012 pollsters and pundits predicted PBO would lose the popular vote. Polls were and are used to support the msm’so products GOP propaganda.
Eric, I hope you don’t mind me use this as a quote on tweet: “People are wise to not allow the corrupt msm to affect their perception of reality with polls designed to reinforce the msm created meme of PBO’s supposed horrible 2013.”
Feel free to spread the word. We need to discredit the MSM. Our collective voice can wake people up to the propaganda that passes for news in this country.
Good morning everyone!! Happy Jan 2nd…my anniversary day!!! Hard to believe it’s been 33 years already….
Anyway, this is a short read, but the good part of this is this particular comment:
And now, what Democrats have to hammer home relentlessly to these millions of people and the rest to come, is that this is what the republicans want to take away. This. Your insurance. Yes, from you personally. Not from “those” people. From you.
The republicans want to take away those doctor visits, those preventive tests. They want the insurance company to be able to cancel your policy, yes, yours, because you have been sick before. You have a nice employer plan? They want to take that insurance away from your still struggling young adult child. They want to allow you care up to a certain dollar amount. After that, well, not their problem. They want to be able to raise premiums relentlessly, far beyond the average increase in wages or income.
The ACA/Obamacare is not some bad old monolithic boogy-boogy-boogyman socialistic Frankenstein monster lumbering across the country destroying all we hold dear.
It is not some abstract concept, born of the Muslim Brotherhood and the ghosts of Stalin and Mussolini, its diabolical intent solely to bring America to her knees.
It is you, being able to go to the doctor for an affordable price when you are sick. It is you being able to have the tests that will prevent you from getting sick in the first place. It is you, not having to file for bankruptcy due to medical expenses, dying anyway, and leaving your family destitute.

FROM THE PURVEYORS OF ‘VICTIMHOOD’
2013: Twelve Months Of Fox News Race-Baiting
Viewers who spent 2013 absorbed in Fox News might be under the impression that an all-out race war has erupted across the nation this year, thanks to the network’s coverage of everything from voter fraud to Santa Claus echoing one common theme: white folks are being victimized in Obama’s America.
completely OT, but 57 needs to rant. I ask you, do I yell at my 74 year old husband when he’s on the roof, pushing 13 inches of snow off the roof? Or do I wait until he’s back in the house and then just hit him with a frying pan?
Are all men this stupid?
He crawls out the window to get the roof. After waiting helplessly for about 10 minutes, my bichon/maltese mix Kasper comes running down the stairs. That means that little dog was up there, with the window open and could have decided at any point that he wanted to play with Daddy in the snow.
One of our best friends fell on New Year’s Eve and blew out his knee. But he thought it was a good idea to hobble down the basement stairs to get the hot chocolate mix! When he has an 8 and 15 year old who would have been happy to get it for him.
I ask again, are all men this STUPID?
I just ordered him a roof rake. Maybe that will corral some of the STUPIDITY.
Bad enough I had to leave all the shoveling to him since I was down with the flu the last three days. I snuck out early this morning and shoveled. God knows I need the exercise anyway.
Oh 57, it’s reading stories like yours that makes me dance with glee that I’ve been living in sunny Southern Calif for the past 20 years. You go ahead and rant – considering what Winter has in store for you folks
Good for you for thinking of the roof rake!
We have a good friend who was on a ladder doing some last minute adjustments to his outdoor lights on xmas eve—-they were expecting a big house full that night——well, he of course fell off the ladder, conked his head and was out for a few minutes, taken to the hospital for fear of concussion but ended up having to have some big surgery on his leg, blew out his knee cap which had to be reconstructed, tore all kinds of tendons and is now in a full leg cast, out of commission for 6 months. Yes, men are stupido, think they’re indestructible.
Sigh. I’m so sorry for your friend, but a little common sense would have avoided it. STUPID!
It’s my 33rd anniversary today. Do you REALLY want me to answer that question? I remind my husband as often as possible that the MAIN reason we’ve been married so long, is because I have such a damn good sense of humor. Now you know the answer to your question:)
We’re married 33.5 years. We live the same experience. Sigh.
LOL! Hubby and I will be married 34 years in May and like DF says, it does takes a sense of humor!
Either that or drugs. I can’t decide which today.
However, when you figure Mr. 57 and I got married 6 weeks to the day we met and we’re still here, 33. 5 years later – I must have a sense of humor!
You know what? I would give anything to have my husband back even if he also did stupid things. I had a realization recently when I remembered PBO is 52 years old. It made me realize how young my husband was as he unexpectedly died of a heart attack at 52 years old.
Great article on that FAUX OUTRAGE about lightbulbs….
This month, Ohio-based Advanced Lighting Technologies is releasing the Vybrant 2x, a 21st century incandescent powered by nanotechnology. It lasts twice as long as an old-fashioned Edison bulb and uses 50% less energy. It’s also just one-fourth the price of a Cree LED. Meanwhile, the top lighting manufacturers are all selling even cheaper incandescents that are not as efficient as Vybrants—much less LEDs—but use 25% less juice than older bulbs.
This all might sound confusing, because when Republicans denounce President Obama’s tyrannical left-wing ways, they often cite his “ban” on incandescent lightbulbs. Wasn’t he consigning us to a green dystopia full of expensive, curlicued bulbs that leak mercury and won’t dim? Wasn’t the ban a classic example, as House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman Fred Upton put it, of Big Government substituting its own judgment for the market’s?
In fact, there was never a ban on incandescent lightbulbs. There is a 2007 law—signed by President Bush—that requires all lightbulbs to meet gradually increasing energy-efficiency standards. As one of its sponsors noted, the law would “help preserve energy resources and reduce harmful emissions, all while saving American families billions of dollars on their electric bills.” Yep, that sponsor was Fred Upton. He later led a Tea Party–fueled effort to stop Obama from enforcing the new standards, but the lighting industry is already meeting them anyway.
H/T Mike Grunwald…and if you haven’t read his book, “The New New Deal” put it on your “to do list” for the New Year. Excellent!
NEW YORK (AP) — The Associated Press is asking Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio’s transition team to open his swearing-in ceremony to the news media.
De Blasio is to be sworn in by State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday at his Brooklyn home.
The ceremony will be streamed on NYC.gov. The transition team also plans to release photos.
The AP has a policy against using handout images unless they are of significant news value and shot in areas that the press doesn’t expect to have access to. The de Blasio team says past mayors have restricted access to such ceremonies, so there is precedent.
AP Senior Managing Editor Michael Oreskes says access to media should be provided. He notes that streaming the event means it isn’t private at all
I hope they told the AP to go pound salt !
Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi! Everyone here is so on the ball, someone probably posted this already, but it’s worth another mention.
Coup and counter-coup in Washington
This year, a cabal of generals evidently believed it could secure the White House for Mitt Romney by staging the Benghazi incident and using it as the signal for a cold coup under cover of elections — probably including computer-generated election fraud — to bring down Obama. They guessed wrong.
In the 47 % video he talks about taking advantage of any foreign policy problems that may happen……..
That isn’t taking advantage, Linda…that’s creating.
Hope those Generals have “Retired”!
They’ve all been banished one by one, beginning with Petraeus.
He was at the heart of it IMO!
Sounds like a lotsa CT’s to me. Not a shred of evidence cited. The only fact there is that the neocons wanted mittbot at the WH. Rest is all conjecture.
Everything we know about Benghazi is conjecture. I must admit, I suspected some ind of inside hanky panky because I never bought the story about Petraeus’ sudden retirement and I watched as one high-ranking military man after another was quietly moved into retirement. Benghazi reminded me of what the Generals tried to do to Roosevelt.
And what they tried to do to Kennedy. I’m reading Dallas 1963 right now, and we are fortunate Kennedy had some control over Curtis LeMay and others. They wanted nuclear war with the USSR, using Cuba as a surrogate, even though they knew Krushchev would hit back at us. They thought one or two American cities were worth it. The framers of the Constitution were definitely correct giving the civilians checks over the military. DDE was rather unusual as a military man to warn against the military-industrial complex.
I read that long article, and there are no sources cited, which always concerns me. It sounds like some truths and some half truths and some speculation. We will one day entire story.
The book Dallas 1963 is sourced and has specific citations. It is a GREAT read. New this year. One takeaway so far…..Dallas was ruled like a medieval fiefdom until probably the 1980s.
I agree with both amk and you regarding the article, though I’m not certain how one validates information that is meant to be secret and/or distorted for public consumption. It took decades for the truth to surface regarding Roosevelt because politicians and the media were complicit in covering up the truth. Most probably the only reason sources can now be cited regarding Kennedy is because we now have the Freedom of Information Act. For me history and logical conclusion are always strong indicators, and both exist in spades when it comes to the Benghazi story. I also agree about DDE. He also had strong feelings about men involving themselves in decisions regarding women’s health and welfare, as well as the judicial system and income inequality. He might well have been the last decent Republican.
Many were annoyed with me when I said the President had no intention of bombing Syria, but my sense, based on his prior statements, was that he didn’t trust the Intel (though he couldn’t very well say that). Few noticed that he drew the “red line” and a few days later Syrians were suddenly dying of chemical poisoning or that Snowden surfaced a week after the President called on Congress to curtail the war powers of the President. In fact the NSA story is old news that was first exposed way back in 2003 and the truth is, we’ve learned nothing new. So why?
Regarding Dallas 1963…I received it as a Christmas gift and put it on the shelf. Thanks to your fine review, I’ll crack the cover now.
The Media’s Year In Health Care Coverage
2013 will be remembered as the year of health care policy. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) dominated media outlets across the spectrum, especially following the implementation of the law’s health care exchanges in October. Yet often lost in all the noise was factual reporting on the new law. Much right-wing and even mainstream media coverage pushed misleading, hyperbolic, and outright false attacks about the ACA.
While channel surfing, there was a Governor on MSNBC (repug) stating how bad ACA is and he will not accept any monies for the expansion. 20% of his state (6 million plus) are uninsured, and many would qualify for Medicaid. He says no; bad for the state because of rising cost. Lots of BS why he will not accept it. This is sad and criminal. HOW in America, we would deny people health care who can not afford it? We spend billions in manufactured wars by the repukes; lives are lost and families are devastated, and these nasty mean, President hating repukes will not take care of the people in their states. WHY is America not in an uproar? These are real human beings and these nasty repukes will not allow them to have a chance to have health care. I wanted to throw a chair at this clown for his ignorance. Democrats must vote these repukes out of office.
The Coverage Gap: Uninsured Poor Adults in States that Do Not Expand Medicaid
Oct 23, 2013
Thank you Ladyhawke,
I just printed the information. We are trying our best to get Scott out of Florida. I have this feeling that he is going to accept it in order to take away talking points from Chris, who many are planning to bring back as our Governor in 2014. “Knowledge is Power”
Medicaid expansion becomes weapon against GOP governors
By Greg Sargent
It’s widely accepted as an article of faith that Obamacare will be uniformly bad politics for Dems in 2014. After all, the rollout is a disaster and majorities disapprove of the law, so how could it possibly be any other way, right?
Here’s something that counter-programs that narrative a bit: Democrats are currently using a major pillar of the health law — the Medicaid expansion — as a weapon against Republican Governors in multiple 2014 races. Many of these Governors opted out of the expansion or have advanced their own replacement solutions, and many are facing serious challenges.
Get the repukes out of office so that this great country can move forward. President Obama needs a real Congress and our states need real Governors to govern.
I hope it works in Wyoming. We usually elect a Dem Gov to clean up the Republican Gov’s mess.

Oscar-nominated actress Juaninta Moore dies: Moore, best known for her Oscar-nominated role in the 1959 film Imitation of Life, died Wednesday at her home in Los Angeles after collapsing, her grandson Kirk Kelleykahn confirms for The Hollywood Reporter. While reports of Moore’s age have differed, Kelleykahn says his grandmother was 99. Sorry if this pic is blurry.

Carol, I remember watching Imitation of Life as a child, and I cried like a baby. As an adult, I still cried like a baby. She was excellent in this movie and if I watched it today, I would still cry like a baby. I hope that Mrs. Moore is Resting-in-Peace.
I’m sure she is. I will have to watch for the move on Turner Classics or somewhere. I hadn’t heard of it, but thought others would know her work.
Carol, it is a classic must watch. It is an amazing movie that will bring you to tears. Find your private time, turn off people (phones, computers etc.), grab a BIG box of tissues, empty your bladder and don’t move until it’s over. Yes, it’s that kind of movie. I hope you will enjoy it. Sadly, it’s not too different in where we are today as it relates to race, hate and discrimination.
Thanks Cindy. Will do. I’m a cryer too.
Imitation of Life is at Amazon Prime! Yeah!
Get it!!! a great investment.
It’s also available on Netflix.
I had the same reaction you did, Cindy. This was one of my mother’s favorite movies. May Mrs. Moore Rest in Peace.
That movie is a classic tearjerker. I saw that movie as a child with my best friend, who to this day cries at the merely slightly touching things. I thought we were gonna have to carry her out of there. Rest in Peace Ms. Moore.
I need to see this movie.
The family-owned business at the center of the hit TV show “Duck Dynasty” has launched its own line of guns.
The gunmaker Mossberg has teamed with Duck Commander, the company owned by “Duck Dynasty’s” Robertson clan, to release nine different shotguns, as well as two semiautomatic rifles and a semiautomatic pistol.
Mossberg has begun shipping some of the shotguns to distributors, according to spokeswoman Linda Powell. She declined to name specific retailers that will carry them.
Duck Commander was founded 40 years ago by Phil Robertson, the family patriarch who was recently suspended — and then reinstated — by A&E after making controversial remarks about gay people and African-Americans. He and his sons are featured prominently in four video ads for the new guns on Mossberg’s web site. Phil narrates one of the spots saying, “Do you know what makes me happy ladies and gentlemen? To blow a mallard drake’s head smooth off.”
There you have it.

1. NONE of this ‘ whistleblower’ shyt. It would have been labeled TREASON from DAY ONE.
2. They woulda gotten all into the fake educational credentials.
3. They would have trotted out every WHITE MAN ever turned down for a job with Booz Allen, complaining how this UNQUALIFIED BLACK MAN got a job over them.
4. If Snowden’s Black Daddy got on tv talking the bullshyt that White Snowden’s father did…they would have gotten his ass fired from his job too.
do I need to go on?
You are exactly correct rikyrah. If Snowden were Black or Hispanic the “national conversation” would not be on civil liberties and NSA abuses – it would be on the so-called follies of Affirmative Action and the need for complete elimination of race-based hiring decisions. NY Times would NOT ask to grant Snowden clemency, but instead call for a review of ALL credentials of individuals (esp. minorities) hired by the Federal government. You would not see Snowden’s face all over metrobuses in DC saying “Thanks Snowden.” And some of the same self-professed “civil libertarians” on Twitter and in the corporate media would be silent – or probably vocally pro-NSA – especially if the President were white.
As I told someone one Twitter, personal and social double standards are the root of systematic inequality and injustice.
Don’t forget, they would have said that President Obama used his influence to hire him (the black snowden), and now the President should be impeached.

@TheReidReport As you say you won't make the whole de Blasio story about the Clintons you make the whole de Blasio story about the Clintons.— (@JOBoomr) January 02, 2014
Congratulations, Mayor @BilldeBlasio ! Please continue supporting President @BarackObama! (Please don't parade out the Clintons.)— (@JOBoomr) January 02, 2014
We couldn’t enjoy the first year of the second term of President Obama last year, because the media was so busy concentrating on 2016 and Hillary and Bill Clinton. Now we can’t enjoy hearing about the first year of the new Mayor of NYC’s first term (much less the first week of it) because the media is making it a Clinton story. I was in such a good mood until I saw that type coverage on MSNBC. I so very much didn’t want to hear Bill Clinton’s voice this morning, instead of Bill deBlasio’s voice. Now I’m all like saying to myself those freakin’ freaky freaks!!! Out loud I’m sayin’ it – freakin’ freaky freaks! #CouldBeWorse (Ha!)
@MSNBC The news of 2014 should be about the administrations of @BarackObama and @BilldeBlasio and others, not about the Clintons. #TooEarly— (@JOBoomr) January 02, 2014
i agree except for the last bit. should read ‘too late’– their time is past.
Awesome reply to de Blasio, JOBoomr. This Clinton crap is making me sick. They are trying to force her on the Dems. I want to see who is in the field before committing to her. The Clinton’s seem to think that they are entitled to the WH and everyone who voted for President Obama, must vote for Hillary. Well, I don’t want to be pushed, I want the opportunity to see who is in the runnings. I didn’t commit last time and I am glad that I waited because we got the best President that has served; President Barack H. Obama, and I just want to savor his term until it’s over.
Poor Bill and Hillary, they literally don’t know when to leave the party.
Don, you are so correct. Bill has an oversized EGO (jealous of President Obama), and Hillary; prove a point that a woman can be President. You know that it will all come down to Bill and Monica Lewinsky again. I don’t want to relive that crap. Who cares about the stain on the dress? I want real leadership so that this country will move forward. We are lagging further behind because of the repukes. I am following the new comers such as; Castro brothers and Wendy Davis and others who are filled with fire energy. The Clintons are over and they need to take a seat. MSNBC is talking about Chelsea (don’t know how to spell her name), their daughter, as being a contender for the President in the years ahead. I am sick of this crap from MSNBC, the media is left with no credibility. Promote lies and hope that the uninformed will believe it. When I visit this site, I feel as though I am walking into class at TOD University. My major, truth-in-politics.

OT, but Best Buy is selling the new iPhone S for $1 both online and in stores. I don’t know if there is a catch.
Also, if you shop at Amazon you can go through Smile Amazon, pick a favorite charity and someone, forgot who, donates a small percentage to your charity. It doesn’t effect you or what you pay or your Amazon Prime at all.
I see that the 5c is free, but with a two year agreement. The 5s is showing as starting at $125.
Just passed on what I read. Didn’t take time to check it out. Thanks LL. Happy New Year! Feeling better?
Yeah, I am. Yesterday I was pretty much useless. Got up at noon, had breakfast, went back to bed. Got up at 3, showered, went to get dog food, went back to bed. Got up at six, cleaned up the kitchen, washed the missus’ scrubs, had dinner, and back in bed by 8. Which is why I do what I did on NYE pretty much 2 or 3 times a year, if that.
Glad you’re back. We missed you.
I’m sorry but I can’t blow a gasket because of what Eric Snowden did, I know better. You couldn’t find one single person that gave a damn about the NSA before President Obama was elected, now all of a sudden everyboby and their momma are so concerned. I assume every time I send an email not only is it going to the person I’m sending it to but also to some government agency. I must make one addmission, but before the NSA put my business in the streets, I’ll tell it here first, ocassionally I watch porn.
So funny. You are a hoot, Don – and I mean that in a good way. You always slide in those little one-liners to see if anybody’s paying attention! Glad you’re on President Obama’s team!
I love President Obama, I can’t get enought of the man.
With ya on that. My son did my profile page on his website and wrote on it “Her other son is Barack Obama.” Ha!
Don, you are too funny. I am a follower of you guys and you rock like it’s 1999. Everyone should know by now; there is no such thing called “PRIVACY.”
According to Glen Greenwald and his minions, Chris Hayes and Ezra Klein are the “reasonable” ones on MSNBC. Ed Schultz, MPH, Lawrence O’Donald (and I’m sure Rev Al, Joy Reid, and Martin Bashir) are the UNreasonable ones.

Its not that they are “reasonable,” its just that Reid, Al, Ed and MPH have all seen this movie before and knows how its going to end.
Edward Snowden is in his new home Russia. Why don’t he go where Greenwald is, Brazil. Go to China.
No darn clemency for Ed Snowden.
Before I try catching up with you, a comment is in order: IMHO, dear Chipsticks, the body language as I read it, is far more Hawaiian than ‘English’; I have never known any English to exude so much centered, at peace and on the way to being well-rested than PBO in these shots! If any of the GOP are thinking to mess with him in 2014, they had better be Aware that here is a Man with Work to do, and he has three years left to do it, given to him by God and the People who love him. There is no anger in this Soul who walks as Barack Obama, only Will-to-Good. His Will is on Fire, the Fire of Love runs Living in his Veins, His Heart knows no fear. Stay with him, be with him, walk beside him, and there will be no turning back to Darkness, ever again on this planet. But he cannot do it alone, he needs every single one of us to stay attuned and focussed, and to not allow evil or hatred to touch us in any way. Okay? Love y’all!
