Ooo, didn't consider that RT @sherifffruitfly how long til DOJ investigation? interstate commerce and all.— Liberal Librarian (@Lib_Librarian) January 08, 2014
Yeah. There’s no doubt that all sorts of commerce/employment was effected.
Yep……Hello hope everyone is staying warm.
Yes, thank you, as long as we don’t go OUTSIDE!
Chris Christie was leading Buono by 30 or so points. Bridgegate did not need to happen. This is horrific and if the family of the woman finds out, an apology might be the least of Chris Christie and his staff’s concerns. This could lead to state and federal investigations.
A Democrat wouldn't endorse Chris Christie, so #BridgeGate occurred. The result? A woman died. northjersey.com/fortlee/GWB_la… http://t.co/UNNZOPhu5v— Nerdy Wonka (@NerdyWonka) January 08, 2014
A woman died due to delays caused by #BridgeGate. Why? Because Chris Christie & his staff wanted to punish a Democrat.

I want to know who hid this from mid September until after the election – cause the media started asking questions – and then they stopped.
The Koch twins
I hope the press is happy now they got their pictures.
But look at the faces of PBO and VP Biden,,priceless!!!!
Hi sailor – GM from my world
Hiya 99. How’s the globa climate change down under?
Balmy 85 again today – but there will be more heat before the summer is over – just so I can write our PM and tell him putting your head under the pillow about climate change is not the sign of a great leader.
How folks are living in the inland with multiple days c120 and higher – not good.
I guess your camels feel right at home, eh?
They could be alone in that feeling!
don’t understand your comment
They’ve been whining about access for evah. They don’t like Pete’s.
Their bromance just tickles me to no end. Two wonderful men. Thx for these pics.
Wow…….I love those two men, but I don’t see anything unusual or shocking in those shots taken by the MSM!!!!! Two men…one at each end of the table with a white placemat, a napkin, a glass of water, silverware, a salt and pepper shaker at each place and a bouquet in the middle of the table. Groundbreaking stuff LOL
And the best part is that these “unstaged” photos (following some of the dorky media’s complaints that they’re inaccessible and all the photos of them are staged) look more staged than Pete Souza’s. His are candid.
And I laugh with you at this groundbreaking collage.
I love the way PBO approaches the press
- He reminds them that he lunches with the VP every week – that they work closely together
- The water in the wine class is a never ending reminder that working lunches are not spent over 3 bottles of A+ wine in a DC restaurant
- He rubs their egos by letting them take pictures that they would prefer NOT to show to their readers/watchers
They underestimate this guy so often my mind boggles at the stupid of the WHPC
And Pete takes MUCH better photos – they can’t even think outside of the box in selecting a focus point.
Also, I remembered earlier that the President said one of his New Year’s resolutions was to be nicer to the press or something. So letting the jackals in there with their dumbass cameras fulfills his … er … goals. He can always point to this type of throwaway invite and laugh.
And that makes me laugh!
FOUR shots of a long table with a man at each end…….creative? NO! Two shots of BP Biden. Think of the creativity we would have seen from Pete! In four shots, there is NO focus point…..
Yes, these look staged and static. Contrast these with the masterpiece in b/w Pete did of PBO alone in his office…..one person…..not static. It tells a story.
What I see is very amateurish photos. Bad light, weird angles, etc.
Congrats on 1st ber!
Thanks for the fine pics, UT!!!!

There is another horrifying aspect to Bridgegate on which the details—-if it is true—–haven’t come out yet.
A missing child search that the traffic jam prevented.
I see Lawsuits.
I haven’t read that yet. This is catastrophic for Christie. And his Sergeant Schulz act is laughable.
Here is something on that story and others…
Well, the Gates book has been blown out of the water by Bully Christie having a dime dropped on him. Funny how it seems that the Universe always takes care of Barack Hussein Obama.
I love how that always seems to happen. Karma – works both ways!
Yep. Christie’s run for president should now be dead on arrival. Feel sorry for all those Democrats who voted for him. I always knew he was a bully.
I cannot feel sorry for a democrat who votes R – their brain was seeing what Christie wanted it to see. I would like to see an analysis of how Christie spent the money the state received for the storm recovery – how many people in the state shared those funds – how many are still waiting waiting.
RT @ritaag: @sherifffruitfly Mayor Sokolich called the DOJ to investigate // yep— SheriffFruitfly (@sherifffruitfly) January 08, 2014
Delays in emergency responses is a big big story. An old woman died.
If Christie asked his staff to fall on the sword for him, I’m not sure it will stay that way if there is a criminal investigation… I mean… the staff may be willing to take a political hit, but accept responsibility when a woman died is another story…
Yes, I admit I have a prejudice against Christie and I doubt that he didn’t know anything. I doubt it very much. Sam Stein says that Barack Obama doesn’t know many things that his team is doing, but this is a very weak try for false equivalency. Anyway, Christie at a minimum participated in the cover up, with this ridiculous story about the traffic study!
Let's recap. #BridgeGate happened because Christie didn't get an endorsement he didn't need. He was winning by 30 points.— Liberal Librarian (@Lib_Librarian) January 08, 2014
He’s a nasty er, ah, ‘little’ man!
I don’t know if I completely agree with you Lib-L.
.@Lib_Librarian: I'd say #BridgeGate happened bcz Christie is a bully, lacks character, & his subordinates know his penchant for retaliation— Vick C. (@sonamie) January 09, 2014
Well, the catalyst was the withholding of the endorsement. Someone else would have just shrugged it off when they were surging to victory. But, as you said, then Christie’s pathology kicked in.
Typical GOP though, right? If they don’t get what they want, they try to hurt as many somebodies as they can. /smh/
Oh, don’t you worry, I have a piece percolating in my noggin about that very topic.

They don’t look like his pictures.
I think the press took them
Ew. No wonder they look so…bleh.
Bleh is right……four, count’em, four pictures of two men sitting at a long table with dining chairs in the foreground, and their places mirror images of each other…..no story told, no focus, as I said above: contrast it with Pete’s b/w picture two days ago of PBO in his office…..dynamic, focused, storytelling.
A little levity.

I am a Senior citizen of this District of Columbia residing here since 1941; witness to every President and every Congress since President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Never have I seen, or dreamed of, such a disrespectful and venomous congress as the one we suffer. Never have I seen such a group of alleged ‘american leaders’ so hell-bent on destroying our Country (for the purpose of destroying the Legacy of our President) What on earth do they think History will record of their purposeful hatred and deliberate neglect of the working poor and nearly middle class? I am amazed at the actions of those who obviously come to congress to become rich and receive all the benefits that being such a member affords them. I feel such pain for those in our citizenry who obviously have no idea the real benefits that this “do-nothing” team of elected men, and yes, a few women, enjoy now – and still after serving just one term. I am long retired and still volunteering in the school system , along with other seniors, to share the joy of reading with our young children. It is imperative that they learn early to read and to comprehend what a democracy really should mean to its citizens. So many in this congress have forgotten who elected them and their needs. What on earth are they thinking of allowing the ‘unemployment insurance benefits’ languish as if they were unnecessary sable coats. These are earned benefits focused on assisting the survival of a person, and/or their Family until a replacement job is obtained! How dare they cut into benefits for any part of our Military servants?? What goes through the mind of a congressperson who wants to cut ‘food stamps?’. I have raised five children here in this expensive city; worked two jobs for 27 years before retiring from federal government, driving a taxi-cab, and various other menial jobs. Yet, I have never been on public assistance or applied for any such benefits – yet I am appalled that these semi-educated idiots seem to want to punish the poorest of the poor. They have no concern for those they see still sleeping on the streets (mostly mentally impoverished or otherwise unable to care for themselves). On a lighter note; I am thankful for people like you that use this medium to expose some of the hateful things that congress really does, and doesn’t do for those that elect them. I am thrilled to see our wonderful President and his supportive, strong Vice-President sitting across the table from one another – possibly relaxing for a moment between putting out fires!! I am uncertain about the empty plates – perhaps that is symbolic of the state of some family’s situation at lunch today…. Thanks for allowing me to vent this evening. I will now turn my heat up to 68; yes I keep it off when I am at school during the day since my ‘fixed income’ is so low that I must often choose between a monthly hair-do, a manicure, or cable t.v. A $25.000.00 pension sounds great but it doesn’t go very far here in the nations’ capitol. I can’t have lunch on either end of Pennsylvania Ave. but I am thankful that I have lived to see the brilliant Obama Team elected and I applaud the plans they have tried to layout for the idiots to slam-down. When the Bridges and roads in Ohio, West Virginia, and the mid-west continue to crumble; I hope this congress will be remembered for their short-sighted ‘budget planning’. Keep up the good work and Hat’s off to our President and our Vice-President; there is a special throne reserved for them in the real WHITE House not made with Hands.
Oh my Yvonne, we need you to comment more here. Your voice is needed. We need everyone to speak out. This has gone on too long.
Yvonne, this is beautifully stated and it has the makings of a powerful letter to the editor. You are doing great work in helping children to read so they can understand what’s happening around them. Bravo to you for your life’s work, your support of the president and your courage in raising five children and making ends meet throughout your busy life. Please comment often.

Can’t let this day go by without saying Happy Birthday Elvis, my first musical love. I think my first 45 was Heartbreak Hotel which I played over and over and over, millions of times, drove my dad nuts, he said “Turn down that racket!”
Here’s Elvis being adorable—early years—-singing Heartbreak Hotel in a casual, small club setting.
When Elvis first was on Ed Sullivan’s TV show, my mother was sitting on the floor with my sisters and me, watching him with us! Decades later, I took her to see him in Philly at one of his last concerts. Good times!

Awwww! Too too sweet.
NASA will complete a $350 million structure to test rocket engines at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi early this year. Then, it plans to mothball the 300-foot-high, steel-frame tower for the foreseeable future.
The reason: Congress ordered the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to finish building the facility even though the agency doesn’t need it.
The tower was designed to test a GenCorp Inc. (GY) engine for a rocket program canceled in 2010. Its funding survived thanks to Mississippi Republican senators led by Roger Wicker, who crafted a provision requiring the agency to complete the work.
The test stand is an example of how U.S. lawmakers thwart efforts to cut costs and eliminate government waste, even as they criticize agencies for failing to do so. Attempts to close military bases, mail-processing plants and other NASA facilities also have been fought by congressional members whose districts benefit from the operations.
These millions of dollars wasted…no problem! Need to feed hungry people? We need offsets for that! SMH

Unfortunately, Christie will probably escape unscathed by this bridge fiasco. Now, if he were a Democrat, this story would be the talk of the world for several months. Not a Blago fan, but what he went to jail for (rightfully in my opinion) pales in comparison to this. But Christie will get away with pinning this on a subordinate. GOP is allowed to do that (see Plame), Dems aren’t, even when there is no there there.
All those who believe a top aide arranged for bridge lanes closure w/o Christie's knowledge please say "Aye". Awfully quiet out there.— john miller (@deaconmill) January 09, 2014
I would agree with you save for one thing: This happened in NJ/NY. That media will latch onto any big story, whatever the party of the principals.
But will it play in the fly over states? Did see one tweet which referenced a huff post article which I haven’t read yet, but I think it was along the lines of, what if a terrorist attack had happened at that time? That would have played all over the country. As it is, I think a lot of people around the country see this as more or less politics as usual for NJ.
I think this will be a drip-drip story, as more revelations come out. And if it’s shown that in fact the lane closures cost that lady her life, this story isn’t going away.
And Christie’s rivals won’t let this go. It’s more the fact that Paul, Palin, et al will keep this alive, than our feckless press.
And, although God forbid we have to see them ever again, Newt and Mitt would bring it up at a later point over and over, with drool coming out of their mouths. Neither has an affiliation with any other RWNJ.
And the allies of Bill and Hillary Clinton. Those allies are numerous and powerful.
Then again, if somebody did a good parody of Becket, with Christie pondering out loud in front of his aides “If only someone could punish this upstart Dem mayor”. His denials ring as true as Henry II’s.

LibLib, maybe you can help me out here.
If this happened in Los Angeles, there would be riots in the streets.
Folks in LA take their traffic very seriously.
FWIW, the worst traffic I was ever in was in DC, August 1998 during the aftermath of a hurricane. The hurricane didn’t make it as far north as DC, but the streets were flooded, and Constitution Avenue, a main drag, was closed.
It took us 3 hours to go 5 miles (from Georgetown to Capitol Hill).
Total gridlock. In CA it’s illegal to enter an intersection if you know you will block traffic by doing so. Not so in DC. Also, in those 3 hours, I saw a total of ZERO traffic control officers.
If this were LA, the mayor would have been impeached/recalled/whatever shortly thereafter.
A few traffic officers would have made a world of difference. This was in the afternoon, and it was summer, so darkness was not a factor.
End of rant.
Oh, if this happened in LA, the miscreant would’ve been strung up.
The time of the Blago sentence is (to me) the unbelievable part of that whole scene. This was a vindictive political action and Christie is attempting to throw his supporters to the sharks. If they decide not to go quietly – Christie may not be the escape artist he thinks he is.
A number of reasons, japa, why I don’t think Christie will escape this. 1. the scale of the coverup is enormous and documented; 2. more importantly, at least one person died; 3. it’s an interstate commerce issue and Gov Cuomo has been vigorous in laying the blame on Christie and we can expect DoJ investigation; 4. Folk like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Rick Perry, etc., … will use it against him, viciously; 4. we are likely to see numerous civil suits – from corporations and individuals – claiming harm from the excessive transportation delays; 5. at least one senior NJ Senator has already opened the ‘criminal prosecution’ window and, when push comes to shove, folk that Christie already has or will throw under the bus, will sing to save their respective hides.
That’s my short list for the moment :)l
bbl … several more hours of meetings today …..
Okay, I am convinced. Just too used to seeing GOPers skate w/o consequences. The GOP primary season for 2016 should be interesting. Almost all the candidates have major mud to throw at each other, there is no way an escape unscathed.
