Can’t be !
No need to claim 1st – I AM first!
Yes, Yes!!! HZ
Ooops…vicki, congrats on snagging that gold. I’m still first in my heart of hearts!
I just saw hopefruits claiming of first on the last thread and I hereby cede my medal to her.
HF #1Vicki #2
You’re such an honorable soul Vicki – I hereby rescind my claim and return the gold medal to it’s rightful owner – YOU!.
Well, if you insist
Thanks for the tunes LL!
Did I miss your Billy Joel tribute?
I’d like to keep my gig here.
HEH! I wouldn’t mind seeing a Billy Joel Tribute. Perhaps when the Mayoress is on vacay, or asleep? We could get her permission?
What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her…or us.
I don’t want to make her cry. Bad enough she has to suffer through David Moyes.
Ooooooh, that is a low blow. True, but a low blow nonetheless.
Did you read the link I Tweeted you?
Afraid to look ….. but I will now…..
“Moyes is a lingering cloud of maladies”
I hate you. Ish.
Really, how he still has a job is beyond me.
That’s also true…
I completely saw that, you utter volcano-provoking rascal.
LL? Thanks a gazillion for the post ….. for fear of offending Beatles fans, I’ll be good. (Although Strawberry Fields Forever almost made up for their crimes against music /runs super fast).
We shall not speak of your Beatles-antipathy, for it offends the gods.
BTW, Chips, I always thought the proper pronunciation was Chip-sticks, but I realize you prefer Chips-ticks.
I’m completely easy with either, Jah Pa!
Which is my preference, but then you know me so well.
I do. Which is what I’d have said if we’d ever got to the flippin’ altar
Words media used on Gate's criticisms of Obama: 'devastating,' 'ripped,' 'unloaded,' 'blasted,' etc. Gates' actual criticisms were mild..— Neil (@NPSusa) January 09, 2014
If Bob Gates wants to salvage his reputation he needs to get on there and forcefully condemn Bob Woodward for misrepresenting his words.— FedUp_Mom (@Fedup_Mom) January 09, 2014
Let’s see if Gates will do that.
EDITORIAL: Christie’s Waterloo – How the George Washington Bridge fiasco is a damning window on his administration. nydn.us/1fesi4a— New York Daily News (@NYDailyNews) January 09, 2014
Oh oh! A waterloo…that’s BAAAAAD!
And that’s the NYDN. The Post is a joke and everyone knows it. The News is THE NY/NJ paper.
OMG!! A 100% GOP rag excoriating Christie!!! A little exit music please, maestro.
How about both?
Christie has shown, if this were reasonable country, he's too stupid to be President if he thought this wouldn't come out. But…Bush won.— john miller (@deaconmill) January 09, 2014
Correction: Bush stole!
And Christie is a bully, and is being shown more so all the time. When he bullied teachers and nurses no one stood up for them, but now, he’s bullying politicians and staff, so he’s getting told.
And yes Bush stole. He did not “win” either 2000 of 2004. He was selected in 2000, and I firmly believe Ohio was stolen in 2004, and Rove thought he had done it again in 2012 which is why he was so surprised election night, and so was Romney (Although, of course,PBO didn’t need Ohio.)
Thanks to an activist court.
Time for a cozy fire and a glass o’ wine.
I just played that with “Gator Boys” on in the background on the TV and a toddler running around pretending to be Sheriff Woody of Toy Story in the same space, and it was strangely calming. Ha!
I still like the wine and fire w/o the “Gator Boys”.
Tell me about it.
Did Rubio really advise poor women to get married if they wanted to escape poverty??? Thanks for the hot tip, Marco. (Republicans are dumb and crazy)
CONGRATULATIONS @marcorubio YOU definitely get DUFUS OF THE YEAR AWARD. Really? To combat poverty, poor women should get married? ROFLMAO!— Rhonda WE ARE OBAMA (@Rhon09) January 09, 2014
Full of mind numbing advice – how dumb are those who vote for such people?
Blame it on climate change and the Florida sun.
LOL indeed – why did we vote in a RW government! The Oz sun may be a reason
Isn’t Abbot’s nickname “The Monk”?
Oh dear yes – a religious RWNJ – I try to avoid knowing anything about the stupid of this man – religion is good, climate change is fiction.
This is the level of conservative leaders – world wide. They cannot win on logic so they use religion.
Competing for the Republican “Stupid of the Year” award is going to be a tough call. Rubio is such a lightweight, I don’t think he even thinks before he talks. If anyone in the Republican Party thinks this idiot is suitable presidential material, they are deluding themselves.
I have fond memories of the “British Invasion” led by the Beatles. They were on the Ed Sullivan show for several weeks in a row and my 9 year-old self was there for everyone. I even watched the Beatles cartoon show that followed a few years later. Another fond memory from my younger Beatle-fan days is singing “Yesterday” with hippie friends as one played an acoustic guitar. Thanks, LL for the trip down memory and Penny Lane.
PS. LL, I loved your brilliant and informative post from the earlier thread today.
Thank you, CEB!
Daily News is taking him down.
RT @BuzzFeedBen NY Daily News suggests Christie is a "lying thug." Et tu Mort. m.nydailynews.com/1.1570246 < Ouch!— Charles M. Blow (@CharlesMBlow) January 09, 2014
I am still trying to catch up
LL posted this little item before I got up this morning – and I bring it over for anyone else who missed it
36 seconds to define Gov Christie
You should tweet that one!
I don’t do twitter – but it is so sweet – sadly for Christie it is too easy to equate him physically with Schultz – LL hit the jackpot
When the Daily News – a rightwing cesspool rag – is disgusted with Christie, he’s got problems.
They perceive Christie as not right enough – which in itself is a joke.

Christie is doomed! Report: Jersey Bridge Closures Delayed Emergency Responses http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/christie-bridge-emergencies-delayed …
Retweeted by Jeff Gauvin
And still the pundits are saying “If this allegation is true” (to quote Wolf Blitzer”
Good interview from the Mayor – his concern is what may happen in the future – Christie has already spoken about Fort Worth having “too many lanes”
So I check CNN – this has hit the front page – I think the Mayor has good reason for his concerns about the future.
All those N.J. Dems who leaped to support Christie must feel kinda foolish about now. Wonder if Christie BFF Cory Booker has had any comments?
U.S. Sen. Cory Booker broke his silence on the growing scandal surrounding lane closures on the George Washington Bridge today, saying the allegations were ‘deeply troubling’ and promising to monitor the situation closely. …
More here: http://www.nj.com/essex/index.ssf/2014/01/cory_booker_calls_gwb_scandal_deeply_troubling.html
Thanks for the reply. Yes, “deeply troubling”.
Christie cost NJ millions because he didn’t want to be on the ticket with Cory Booker – why do the dems not talk about such things? Given the emails that have been released – I would not call it “allegations” – Proven facts seem to be the reality.
In retrospect, we underestimated @GovChristie's familiarity w/gridlock: "Christie Slams DC 'Absolutists' 4 Gridlock" talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/chris…— Lis Smith (@lis_Smith) January 09, 2014
Really tempted to edit LL’s post and replace the videos with something like this:
Would that be wrong?
Ugh, that would be grounds for a criminal complaint.
You’ve already confessed to playing with toy soldiers, bet you were a Tiffany fan too.
hush you Irish type person.
Christie is also the newly installed head of the Republican Governor's Association. Next meeting should be interesting. #bridgegate— Joy Reid (@TheReidReport) January 09, 2014
Nahhhh he’ll get some good old boy slaps on the blubber!
He’ll get a pass. We have a lame biased media.
.@GovChristie – How is that my way is highway working for ya? #asshole— (@amk4obama) January 09, 2014
Never change, Jersey. Never change. RT @TPM NJ mayor calls Christie an "idiot," says aide deserves "ass-kicking" bit.ly/1d0AZvR— Lis Smith (@lis_Smith) January 09, 2014
This mayor is amazing – Blitzer asks him what can he (Christie) do to fix this
Mayor replies – you have to reach out to the folks that were impacted – don’t reach out to me – if you haven’t reached out in the last 4 months – don’t reach out now. Not sure if he is talking about the Governor or the media – both can own that statement

P.S. Don’t forget that next month marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, the moment that offset JFK’s assassination less than three months earlier in my 5th grade classroom.
My 5th grade teacher was the absolute best. She engaged the class in a spirited discussion about the Beatles the following day. We also had at least one fun thing to do every month (first month: luau with poi, or field trips — most memorable, Bird Rock in La Jolla). Our history tests were “College Bowl” teams pitted against one another. No one wanted to let his/her teammates down, so pretty much everyone aced US history.

Hoping Lib_Lib is still here.
Bringing this rant over from the end of the last thread (because it is such a good rant, if I do say so myself, LOL).
re: Christie #Bridgegate
* * * * * * * * *
LibLib, maybe you can help me out here.
If this happened in Los Angeles, there would be riots in the streets.
Folks in LA take their traffic very seriously.
FWIW, the worst traffic I was ever in was in DC, August 1998 during the aftermath of a hurricane. The hurricane didn’t make it as far north as DC, but the streets were flooded, and Constitution Avenue, a main drag, was closed.
It took us 3 hours to go 5 miles (from Georgetown to Capitol Hill).
Total gridlock. In CA it’s illegal to enter an intersection if you know you will block traffic by doing so. Not so in DC. Also, in those 3 hours, I saw a total of ZERO traffic control officers.
If this were LA, the mayor would have been impeached/recalled/whatever shortly thereafter.
A few traffic officers would have made a world of difference. This was in the afternoon, and it was summer, so darkness was not a factor.
End of rant.
Yes, it was TRMS that brought the NJ Bridge-Gate to the national Wilderness. She has done at least 4 lengthy segments on this subject. Now the the story is going to get HUGE! No matter how apologetic the NY/DC Media plead Christie’s case.
A little more Karma for PBO – suddenly the media implodes against someone other than him. It has been years since I have seen the front page of CNN contain doubt about a RW politician. I think it can only happen because NJ is a dem state. The legislatures in Wisconsin, Florida, Texas etc just NEVER ask the questions
Every RWNJ is out and about once more screaming about the “liberal media”. If this were attempted by a democratic administration – state or DC – the resignation would be in. Actually, if it were a democrat involved it would have been found out BEFORE November – not after the election.
So that UI extension, it happened or not?
US media can only follow one story at a time – yesterday was UI – today is Christie – tomorrow – back to Benghazi
Public Corruption is what happened in NJ. Let No one who calls himself a Journalist dare to conflate what happened in NJ to any of the manufactured drummed up “Scandals” by the DC/NY Pundits.
A 91 yrs old woman died. People suffered and a Missing child’s search was delayed. This is not a NOTHING. IT is a BFD.
40-50 calls were made to STOP the insanity and the Corruption in NJ happened.
The NY/DC media are always impugning pres Obama’s Leadership, irrespective of the facts.
Enjoy your demise Christie. For what goes around comes around. This Christie was this way as a US Attorney. Petty and Vindictive.

TODville tweeters have echoed the same sentiments about Gates versus Biden, but here’s a few more:
When reading this article remember that Bob Gates was wrong on Afg; and Biden, Lute & Donilon were right: nytimes.com/2014/01/08/wor…— Michael Cohen (@speechboy71) January 07, 2014

I don’t bother giving myself heartburn by tuning into Morning Joe — remember, he’s on the air before 6 am on the west coast, but even Joe would agree with this:
Re Robert Gates "harsh" memoir, Obama's biggest problem was, he was focused on getting out of Afghanistan. To most of us, that's a positive.— Milt Shook (@MiltShook) January 08, 2014
Am I enjoying this Christie mess way too much? Nah!
Nah. I think we should have Christie Watch parties. As in: watch him go down!
