Quite frightening that the GOP insists that any of their congress folks always vote against the President and the democrats. It makes no sense whatsoever. Perhaps McCain should have voted against sending water to WV because their senator is a democrat?

Happy Middle of the Night:) Out of here early to take my son to the airport, thought I’d check in. You have to read this…FOX “news” doing its best faux outrage show. Seriously…they’re screwed up. Wonder if they’d like the alternative NO HELP FOR VETERANS WITHOUT PAYING FOR IT FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE! This is a non issue that they’re trying to make into outrage and division…so obvious.

Gee…I wonder if THIS could be the reason why there’s a backlog and issues at the VA?

      http://www.veteranstoday.com/2011/02/18/vas-union-afge-speaks-out-against-va-funding-cuts/

The WRONG Direction for Funding the Needs of America’s Veterans
Republicans’ proposed cuts will affect delivery of health care and timely benefits at the VA

WASHINGTON, Feb. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — On Monday, February 14, House Republicans introduced a Continuing Resolution (H.R. 1) to fund the federal government for the last seven months of the fiscal year while cutting $61 billion in current year spending. The bill proposes to cut $2.6 billion in funding provided to care for America’s veterans. Leaders of VA’s largest union, the American Federation of Government Employees, stated that the reductions threaten the health care and benefits delivery services provided by VA employees.

“This Nation is engaged in military operations and conflicts across the globe,” said AFGE Secretary Treasurer J. David Cox. ” The strength of our fighting force and the safety of our Nation depend on our ability to care for America’s veterans. Proposals to decrease spending for veterans during a time of war are dangerous, short-sighted, and just plain wrong.”
National VA Council President Alma Lee said, “Cuts in VA personnel do little to reduce the federal deficit and make it harder for frontline service providers to do their jobs. Current hiring practices cannot keep up with the present-day health care demands of our veterans, and we cannot afford hiring freezes or staffing reductions. AFGE members are already trying to do more with less, and cuts to construction projects will only further negatively impact VA employees’ ability to provide adequate care.”

This is not the first time that a Republican-led House of Representatives has irresponsibly cut funding for America’s veterans. From 2003 to 2006, VA health care funding did not increase, co-pay increases were proposed, and investment in much-needed research to provide the best care for veterans suffering from unknown injuries languished. Since 2007, the Democratic Congress increased health care funding to begin to address the uphill battle of providing appropriate care and access to all generations of veterans. These resources allowed VA to better immediately address needs of returning veterans, expand access, increase support for veteran caregivers, address the urgent mental health care needs of veterans, expand veteran homelessness prevention and care, and invest in research for maladies attributed to military service.

Good morning 99ts and good morning amk for obama,
You guys are the early birds this morning. amk for obama, one of the pundits brought this up last year regarding why they felt that mitt would not want to have Christie on the ticket. The guy is a 3rd class political thug. They are protecting him, and I will never be convinced that he is innocent of the bridgegate scandal. It is who he is and what he does, it’s his style and he owns it. He doesn’t deserve to be Governor, let alone President. I can’t begin to imagine how he would handle other countries if he and the repukes could not get their way. It would be a war every month with this creep.

Happy Sunday to you 99ts and amk for obama!

Bloggers (& maybe the media) are remembering that Christie was one of the US attorneys who was NOT fired in 2006 – “one of the takeaways from the scandal was that the U.S. Attorneys who weren’t dismissed were incredibly suspect”

    http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2014/1/11/82250/5972

Why do all these issues appear for the GOP after an election. With PBO every last thing they could dredge up – true or false – came out before both elections. He was vetted every which way what way. But the republicans – they simply say “that is not true” & the media says “yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir”

      99ts,
They are good for getting away with their crimes because the media protects them. Just look at how the media allow guest to come on and throw President Obama into this crap. The President has not endangered anyone by playing pay back or anything else. The President had nothing to do with those lying _________ in Jersey, and yet, the repukes have pulled the President into their lies.

I heard Rev. Al and Chris M. and Lawrence O. push back, but Joe jokester and mika the side kick, dragged President Obama through the mud on Friday as if the President created this mess.

Just my 2 cents, but I don’t like the “Obamawater” thing. I understand the point, but I think that even HE would find it divisive and unnecessary to do that. I think that it divides more than helps…because we are all in this together (which as ALWAYS been his point) When we need something, we are there for each other. I just feel like calling the water that is so desperately needed in WV, Obamawater….not helping the cause of one for all. We should call it “America’s water”…helping each other in a time of need.

      Good morning desertflower,
When I saw that last night, I thought to myself, oh no. It carries a negative connotation, and you are right, President Obama believes in helping when the time comes, regardless of politics. It’s “water” and the residents need it-period.

        January 12, 2014 at 7:33 am

That was my thought….I just don’t think that we need any more tit for tat when it comes to matters like this. It’s ugly and I just think we should all work together for a common good…this is just doing the right thing by our fellow citizens that need help now.

I don’t mind calling it Obamawater – it’s only negative for a certain small group of people. Pres Obama stands for the people, so whatever has the name “Obama” attached to it, represents the good will of the American people who sent him to Washington to represent them for two terms. For the most part, the hashtag is viewed (and used) quite positively on Twitter – like Obamacare, it will redeem itself. :) :)

      when I first heard of this word yesterday, it was being used by a person who was giving the reason that they would rather have no water than accept the help from the feds;

PBO is the head of the fed government and those who don’t accept it need to be reminded that the voters spoke.

I thinks it is past time to ask WHY people regard anything with the name of President Obama as decisive? unless we get to the bottom of this, this country will not move forward – bigotry must be challenged.

On Friday, the US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the original judge, Carl Barbier, did not err by failing to determine whether the class of eligible claimants included individuals who haven’t actually suffered any injury.

It means that the UK oil giant may have to pay out much more than it originally thought it would have to.

BP originally projected that the settlement would cost $7.8bn (£4.8bn) but last year increased its estimate to $9.6bn.

BP has faced about $42.4bn in criminal and civil charges since the disaster.

And the legal fees for arguing – hope they are charged interest for the delays – they thought they could do as was done in Alaska – not working that way at the minute.
