The Super Bowl – Pissing right wingers off since 2014

The fact that these two ads had many on the Right apoplectic says much of the current state of right-leaning friends. And it’s great news for the rest of us.

So has Phil Griffin apologized to the right wingers for the Coke ad and fired the ad person responsible yet???

Now remember the tweet that got a person fired last week from MSNBC was, “Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new #Cheerios ad w/ biracial family.”

The RNC cries and Phil Griffin grovels at his feet with an apology.

Sunday night the rightwing racists explode all over twitter because “American the beautiful” (apparently their National Anthem) was not sung exclusively in English.

I believe that anonymous persons tweet was vindicated by these nutjobs reactions.

A suggestion: Please email , call and/or tweet your Democratic House Rep and tell them NOT to sign on to the Iran sanctions bill. Also contact Steny Hoyer. I understand he’s being pressured to sign/vote for the bill.

Angry at multi-lingual Coke ad? Go out on the street. Americans are loving their country in all kinds of languages.

I guess I just can’t do “reply”, perhaps? Since my comment was two posts ago and we are still remarking incredulously on the silly RW reaction to some of the SB ads, I’d like to repeat it here, if I may: I browsed at the Univ of Iowa bookstore over lunch and what did I find? You can buy a University of Iowa Hawkeyes sweatshirt in English, Arabic, Spanish or Russian! Probably other lanQuages, as well. I predict nobody around here will get too bent out of shape. But then, we are known for being a bit liberal in this town…

The guy on the left cracks me up. He’s giving mini-duck lips as though he’s on the cover of Maxim. Love it.

Ed Schultz just came out in favor of the Keystone pipeline.

    Told ya…….

    • February 3, 2014 at 6:53 pm

I heard him earlier on his radio show. Rationale seems to be that the pipeline is safer than carrying the oil by rail car. I was surprised when I heard him and his guests…thought he was one of the ones against it.

One of the things I’ve said elsewhere, is that if the right wing complainers ever wanted a clue as to what the reactions are to their bigotry and complaints, they just need to see these commercials appearing. There was a lot of bigoted bile directed at the Cheerios commercial featuring these same actors last year, and making a sequel commercial is the company’s equivalent of giving them the middle finger.

Corporations don’t create such ads unless they generate sales – they are obviously successful at doing just that.

The American Civil Liberties Union and four couples on Monday sued Wisconsin state officials over the state’s ban on same-sex marriage.

“Wisconsin’s ban on marriage for same-sex couples prevents them from securing the hundreds of protections that state law provides to married couples,” a statement from the ACLU reads.

In Wisconsin, it’s a crime for a same-sex couple to get married in another state, which the ACLU is also looking to repeal.

“Wisconsin law subjects same-sex couples to an additional harm that is unique among states that deny same-sex couples the freedom to marry,” the statement reads. “The only way for Wisconsin couples to get the federal protections that come with marriage is for them to go out of state to marry. But Wisconsin law says that may be a crime punishable by nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine.”

Did they design these laws based on the inter-racial marriage laws – of not so very long ago? Sure sounds familiar

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loving_v._Virginia

Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967),[1] was a landmark civil rights decision of the United States Supreme Court which invalidated laws prohibiting interracial marriage.

The case was brought by Mildred Loving, a black woman, and Richard Loving, a white man, who had been sentenced to a year in prison in Virginia for marrying each other. Their marriage violated the state’s anti-miscegenation statute, the Racial Integrity Act of 1924, which prohibited marriage between people classified as “white” and people classified as “colored.” The Supreme Court’s unanimous decision held this prohibition was unconstitutional, overturning Pace v. Alabama (1883) and ending all race-based legal restrictions on marriage in the United States.

I’m so sorry to read this. It seems she lived a good and accomplished life but it’s still difficult on the family. May She Rest In Peace.

I lost a great Aunt this weekend and lord knows she lead a good long life. (102 years old) but she will be sorely missed. It’s still very difficult on the family. Aunt V had 21 children and over 300 grand, great grands and great-great grands. They are still trying to find a church big enough to accommodate the crowd that will attend her funeral service.

Her youngest daughter is my age (58) and she is practically inconsolable. I guess being blessed to have her so long it is unimaginable to her to be in this world without her mother.

Sensing what they are going through, my thoughts and prayers are with the Mondale Family.

I ♥ ♥ Jim Stuart’s interpretation of the President’s interview with O’Reilly. Please go and read it – it’s very short!

“Warriors need to be unflappable. If they do demonstrate anger, it’s their choice. They are never triggered by events (including aggressive interviewers) outside themselves.

    (snip)
….. This is Mastery. Not a type of personality given at birth. Self awareness. Non attachment. Beginner’s mind. Holding the paradox that there is no enemy and I am facing a dedicated adversary. Remembering Jesus; “Be gentle as a dove and shrewd as a serpent.” Both – at the same time.

    (snip)

Mastery is earned, not given. Ever.”

Did anyone see how Barbara Walters strongly defended Woody Allen, she even defended him marrying his step-daughter. I don’t know what Woody Allen did or didn’t do. But do we need any more proof that Barbara Walters should have retired 25 years ago.

Hello TOD. Checking in to report that I’ve had a good day. Much less pain and have cut back on amount of pain meds and supplementing with Motrin. Working on finding a good balance of being up and moving and resting.

I lurk throughout the day. Blessings and good wishes to all. Later……….:)

Do hope the MSNBC who was fired for the “unacceptable tweet” is suing for wrongful dismissal. It seems to be the aim of the GOP to increase unemployment. It is their goal in life.
