I’m dancing a little jig this morning. I don’t get MSNBC and my signal has been so weak, I’ve been unable to live-stream. I kept tweaking (didn’t have a clue what I was doing) and finally this morning…viola! But after listening to Morning Joke for a little while, I felt ill.

Sorry to hear CNN landed Michael Smerconish. I know lots of TODers don’t like him, but I absolutely adore him. Would have loved to see him on MSNBC.

Michael is with CNN? He was actually good when he talked about getting ACA for his family; very positive and actually walked through everything, step-by-step. The jokester was in full swing; advising the Christie cream how to over come his problem.

Jokester is convinced that he has the answers to “all” of the repukes problems. I wish that he would just grow the balls and run, stomp with the BIG Boys and get his rear end kicked…..because he CAN’T handle the truth.

      • February 11, 2014 at 8:01 am

None of them can handle the truth, Cindy. Like you, I would love to see Joke run for office…talk about getting his comeuppance. The thought makes me laugh.

      Thank you Africa…..

Like you, I want to help with Charlie Crist election. He spoke so passionately yesterday on the Ed show; showing support for President Obama and Obamacare. He is what we need on the trail for speaking truth to the valuable benefits of Obamacare.

Africa, I’m sure Crist would welcome the experience and intelligence you have to offer. I hope you contact the campaign and help to save Florida this November. We will be doing all we can to keep PA from falling further into oblivion with our utterly rotten governor.

    • February 11, 2014 at 8:22 am

Every time the media reports on an initiative PBO is about to undertake, they cannot help but start with a dig “criticized for blah blah blah…” First of all, only selection factions have criticized PBO for “not doing enough to help young minority men” and we know who they are and what their agenda is. Secondly, PBO’s initiative is not simply because he has been criticized by those factions, but because he has always done what is right for ALL US citizens.

As usual the media is full of the GOP talking points this morning – what is wrong with the democrats – there is so much GOOD they can say out there – and all they do is criticize the President – I am just screaming – Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

      I understand your torment : ( 99ts,

It makes me crazy!!!!!!!! I briefly listened to C. McCaskil (Morning jokester), and she was going on and on about how she is supporting the Hill, and how proud she is to help her get elected. I am soooooooo sick of these Dems and Hillary Clinton.

We have a over qualified, loving, caring, the hardest working President I’ve had the pleasure of supporting, and they run around talking about how proud they are of Hillary; while running from the President as if he has the plague.

Dems have the best of both worlds right now, and all they can talk about; Hillary and Bill…….while Rand “the crazy” Paul
run around calling Bill a pedophile.

      I’M SCREAMING WITH YOU!!!! : o

PBO is currently BIGGER and better than the US Presidency. And after he completes his second term, he will remain an internationally renowned figure. The fact that Bill & Hillary still need the US Presidency to feel validated, suggests that they have not grown or moved on from where they were 20 years ago.

What a week! So much to catch up on and no time. Will be “hosting” for the next couple of days, so please keep the excitement level low or I won’t be able to stand it. This area will then cap the week with another snow storm and there is absolutely NO ice melt to be found anywhere. The big box stores say that all of their suppliers have run out. So we’ll be slip sliding away for the rest of the winter.

The whole Hillary focus is a distraction from the 2014 midterms. It has nothing to do with Hillary per se.

        February 11, 2014 at 8:32 am

        Good morning hopefruit2…

        Happy Tuesday to you!

The problem is that, the media has written President Obama off, as if he has had a 2nd term failure. When they do speak of him, it’s always negative, you wouldn’t know that he is working hard everyday.

Congress isn’t doing anything to help with the unemployment extension while 1.6 million plus families are hurting. Rand crazy Paul is even dominating the news by declaring the Bill a pedophile. So the Clintons are dominating the news, a distraction yes, but we still have a President in the WH who is working hard every day, and the media would have one to believe that he “went down” in a bed of failures.

        • 43 hopefruit2
          February 11, 2014 at 8:41 am

Fortunately Cindy, the US media has become largely irrelevant where PBO is concerned. If the media’s opinions dictated what PBO did or how he were perceived by the majority, he would NOT be president, let alone get re-elected.

The US media has “written him off” 100 times before, and they’ll keep doing that because that’s the juvenile level from which they operate – but as I said, PBO is BIGGER and BETTER than the US Presidency. Unlike the Clintons, he doesn’t need or require the media’s validation. He does what he has to do, and people respond accordingly.

At this point, anyone who actually believes the stuff coming from the media is probably mentally retarded (and I don’t mean this in a bad way). Most people KNOW the media is not honest about this President – even those who pretend to not know. Most people who currently vote GOP have ulterior motives (most likely race-based) and are not being honest with themselves and with others as to why they vote GOP.

            February 11, 2014 at 8:49 am

            Thank you hopefruit2….

Beautifully and factually stated. I just wish he was recognized for his hard work by the media. So much negativity but this is where the “real news” is reported.

            • 45 hopefruit2
              February 11, 2014 at 8:56 am

Trust me, the US media does recognize his hard work, and his EFFECTIVE work. But because they are largely made up of Republicans who are inherently dishonest, immature, and view a competent Democrat as a huge threat to their privileged 1% existence – don’t expect them to explicitly give him his due until he’s well dead and gone, or too old to know the difference.

        • 47 carolyn
          February 11, 2014 at 8:37 am

Isn’t this about what happened in 2006 and 2007 into 2008? Too much Hillary, too soon…….She is such a target. If she is president, the righties and others will go after her as hard as they have PBO……for different reasons. I do not think she is the right person to have as first woman president.

          • 48 hopefruit2
            February 11, 2014 at 8:49 am

The media is trying to use a kind of reverse psychology – by pretending to slam her, they will actually get people more interested in her. If you notice, their so-called “slams” aren’t on any real policy issues, where she would really show up as inadequate. But the truth is, Hillary’s time has passed. She cannot inspire people the way PBO did. She is a re-tread of old, obsolete political ideas, and that is not going to draw young people and minorities to the polls. The Baby boomers who were excited by Bubba during the ’90’s may think a Hillary Presidency is cute, but this is a completely different and global era that calls for a new kind of candidate.

            • 49 Cindy
              February 11, 2014 at 9:01 am

She doesn’t inspire me one bit hopefruit2. In fact, when I see her and or Bill, I think of the pass and their drama and I don’t want it anymore. I am sick of hearing about Monica Lewinsky. Pretty soon, she will be appearing on every news station.

CNN already has a story up; What’s Monica Lewinsky been up to?

The media will play a part in dragging her on the scenes to use against the Dems because they supported Bill during his mischiefs. This is old school junk that needs to be left in the trunk.

I WANT TO GO FORWARD AND CELEBRATE THE FUTURE!!! The Clintons do not represent the future.

          February 11, 2014 at 8:43 am

They also bring on Democrats day after day to praise her. The point is, Hillary really should NOT be in the media’s discourse right now – 10 months before an important midterm.

    http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/08/10/15-things-everyone-would-know-if-there-were-a-liberal-media/

If the media were “liberal,” it would serve the public interest and shine a light on issues like the ones above.

More people would also have a better understanding of global warming, peak oil, population growth, political lobbying, government’s role in a functioning economy, how much we spend on the military, and countless other issues.

What you’re more likely to see in the media, however, are stories designed to get you to buy their paper, or watch their show, or listen to their radio station. If it bleeds, it leads. This is why the media is concerned with scandal, celebrities, gossip, and fear.

If anything, our news consists of paid advertisements and outlets too scared of offending anyone to publish much of substance. Investigative journalism is also expensive; entertainment is cheap.

Good list…we all know there is no “liberal media”…. pass this along.

    • February 11, 2014 at 8:31 am

I feel a little differently about this matter of a liberal media. I don’t think coverage should be liberal or conservative. I’m just interested in hearing the facts. If MSNBC were the opposite of Fox, I would hate them as much as I do those idiots. I believe if the news is presented in a factual, unbiased manner….it will be liberal.

      • 53 carolyn
        February 11, 2014 at 8:35 am

I agree with you. I think they just were making fun of the fact that the RW always goes on and on and on about ” Liberal Media” being the crux of all the world’s problems…when there IS no such thing.

    Good Morning……

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada’s attorney general and governor said Monday that they won’t defend the state’s gay marriage ban when it goes before a federal appeals court, saying that a recent court decision makes the state’s arguments supporting its constitutional amendment “no longer defensible.”

Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto, in a motion filed with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, said Nevada’s legal arguments defending the voter-approved prohibition aren’t viable after the court’s recent ruling that potential jurors cannot be removed from a trial during jury selection solely because of sexual orientation.

“After thoughtful review and analysis, the state has determined that its arguments grounded upon equal protection and due process are no longer sustainable,” Masto said in a statement.

    • February 11, 2014 at 8:47 am

On that note, I must quickly tell this story. My seven-year-old grandson entered the National Spelling Bee. He will soon be 8, but he is in the fourth grade. Just so you know, I don’t like all that grade skipping, but I’m just the Grandmother. Anyway, he eliminated everyone in his tier up through the 6th grade. He was so proud…new boy in school and all. Winners go to Munich to compete.

Another elimination round ensued and he came home on time.
      “Why are you here?”
Eyes overflowing with tears, “I didn’t get an invitation to continue the competition.” Alligator tears falling everywhere, he kept saying, “It’s okay, it’s okay.”

I met with the Board members yesterday, who explained that after some deliberation, they decided they should have and did rearrange the competition based on age. Their new formula, eliminated my grandson and advanced the students he had beat.

I’m telling this because, as I sat there I was thinking, “this is why people shouldn’t be allowed to have guns.” Because if I had had one I would have shot everyone of them, called the police and been waiting on the school steps. Today Dotster would be writing about me.

Seriously! His lesson….life’s not fair. He deserves a hug and a night on the town. ” It’s ok, it’s ok.” got me….I know that feeling and those quivering lips…

Ahhhhh……faypax, I am sorry to hear that he didn’t make it, poor baby. Now that was so unfair to your grandson.

I feel you on this one….what a shame. I hope he doesn’t carry the pain too long and bounce back; roaring to go again.

        • February 11, 2014 at 9:03 am

Thanks Cindy to both you and Desert, but don’t miss my point. This is the kind of situation that spurs people to act foolishly. I don’t know that I’ve ever been as angry and I could imagine the reaction of someone with far less self-control. They were so cavalier and dismissive. I’m not doing it very well, but I’m trying to speak to the mood and lack of empathy in the country.

Understood. I am watching the trial here in Florida; whereby, this guy shot and killed Jordan Davis over loud music. People are flying off the handle over things that doesn’t make sense. Everyone is carrying a gun and it’s just scary. Someone can draw an innocent person into an argument just because they want to shoot someone-anyone.

It feels like the wild, wild west. Your point is well taken, empathy doesn’t exist any more faypax.

            February 11, 2014 at 9:14 am

I can imagine situations where I may have used a gun – especially with 1 set of neighbors – so I’m happy to live in a world where that is not an option. It seems to have become the new option – rather than yell, swear or make the usual gesture – just shoot.

I’veread about the Dunn trial in Florida – seems the AG wants to win this one – as they did not want to win the Zimmerman trial. Such an example – kill someone because you do not like their music!

    http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/11/science/camels-had-no-business-in-genesis.html?ref=science?src=dayp&_r=0

There are too many camels in the Bible, out of time and out of place.

Camels probably had little or no role in the lives of such early Jewish patriarchs as Abraham, Jacob and Joseph, who lived in the first half of the second millennium B.C., and yet stories about them mention these domesticated pack animals more than 20 times. Genesis 24, for example, tells of Abraham’s servant going by camel on a mission to find a wife for Isaac.

These anachronisms are telling evidence that the Bible was written or edited long after the events it narrates and is not always reliable as verifiable history. These camel stories “do not encapsulate memories from the second millennium,” said Noam Mizrahi, an Israeli biblical scholar, “but should be viewed as back-projections from a much later period.”

Dr. Mizrahi likened the practice to a historical account of medieval events that veers off to a description of “how people in the Middle Ages used semitrailers in order to transport goods from one European kingdom to another.”

Apropos of nothing, but my own thoughts on the Bible…

14 Million Obamacare enrollments. Avalanche continues, but……

Arkansas is threatening to derail their public private Medicaid option which will affect 80,000 people.
PAGING BILL CLINTON. Anybody else recall how the Big Dog was instructing PBO about how Arkansas should be included on list of states POTUS was praising for ACA initiatives?
I think it was at The Clinton Global Initiative.
Clinton was smirking about how His state has an innovative health program.
Well, Bill, that program seems to have hit a speed bump and may be derailing altogether.
Maybe now you can use your Big Bark and actually do something good for the people of Arkansas.

The picture at the top of the post just breaks my heart. What a Lady our FLOTUS is! This little girl whose eyes are just truly amazed at the presence of this person who is gently reaching over says to me, Gee, she looks like me. I could be her. She is kind, warm and beautiful. I wonder is she sees me…..

And then, this Lady comes back and givers her HER undivided attention.
She acknowledges her. She touches her. She assures by doing that in one beautiful stroke that she is not forgotten.
    Be still my heart.
The wonder of amazement in her innocent eyes goes an assured profound……….YES!
    #I AM SOMEBODY.
