Salut Nerdy Wonka et merci pour le post.
Je t’en prie.
Top 10 for sure. G’day!
Mon Dieu! Je suis la premère… et suis toute seule.
I’m here with you NCLB! Congrats on #1 :) And to Mr. Yardarm for 2nd!
NW, didn’t get a chance to say how terrific the R&S was this a.m. You continue to amaze us with the broad sweep of information you include. You and Chips do a far better job than any national so-called media I can think of. I don’t know what your future career plants are, but I hope they include either a run for political office or creating a new and better media. You would be formidable in any field, that’s for sure.
Oh, wow. Thank you very much for your kind words, Jackie. I’m so glad that the articles, news, thought pieces in Rise and Shine are relevant to you and provide information that you find valuable.
It’s been a pleasure to help Chips out with TOD.
Thank you again.
this blog is the best media that exists. I am thankful everyday that Chips and Nerdy provide us with truthful and comprehensive news that really matters.
And, of course, the occasional lifestyle bits—-such as FLOTUS’ red coat today. Gorgeous.
I second that!
Boehner caves. Clean debt ceiling raise. This time it really is #obamasfault— Liberal Librarian (@Lib_Librarian) February 11, 2014
Bonjour, mes amis!
Or are we going to fall apart and resort to ‘franglais’ before the state dinner gets underway?
VC, on peut toujours essayer.
Spandan called this last week.
2104. 2014. 2014 is my Only Concern this Year.
But just read this and went…..Okay then……Karl Turd Blossom Rove said what?
In a Tuesday interview on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” Rove questioned Paul for “beating up on” Clinton and Lewinsky, adding that this move may not be a “particularly good thing to strengthen your skills.”
“Frankly, Rand Paul spending a lot of time talking about the mistakes of Bill Clinton does not look like a big agenda for the future of the country,” Rove said.
Rove’s comments arrive weeks after Paul revived the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal.
Well, Nena, if even Karl Rove thinks you’re being petty, you’re setting a new low. On the other hand, I think Rand should just keep his mouth running right into oblivion.
Rove nailed it.
Brianna Keiler says only two questions each for the President’s
She is hoping PBO gets asked about the employer mandate delay….. ( not sure what that has to do with our relationship with France )
Has to do with Brianna’s IQ
WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Tuesday urged states to repeal laws that prohibit felons from voting, a move that would restore the right to vote to millions of people.
The call was mostly symbolic — Mr. Holder has no authority to enact these changes himself — but it marked the attorney general’s latest effort to eliminate laws that he says disproportionately keep minorities from the polls. “It is unwise, it is unjust, and it is not in keeping with our democratic values,” Mr. Holder said at civil rights conference at Georgetown University. These laws deserve to be not only reconsidered, but repealed.”
The idea that felons cannot vote is absolutely maddening to me. Particularly when the Constitution grants felons the right to hold office. Remember that idiot in Alabama (?) that ran for President from his cell? Once an individual serves their time all citizenship rights should be restored. Instead the system continues to punish them. Only in Amurka…land of the free.

House Republicans plan to vote on a clean debt ceiling hike Tuesday night, according to House Republican leadership.
The vote on Tuesday night is partially in anticipation of a snow storm expected to hit the Washington D.C. area on Wednesday.
If only a snowstorm could fall over the GOP in Congress only…
…With all the nastiness associated with it – black ice, yellow ice, slippery falls, flu/pneumonia germs, extra frigid temps, etc – only for the GOP in congress…
What a dream!
One of the few good things about the Snowdenwald fiasco is discovering Bob Cesca:
Thank you for posting this 57, but i must admit i always lose interest in these kind of stories…i worry more about “Stand your ground “and “stop and frisk” laws….or about police and others..who see young black men as dangerous…than about how much info the NSA has or about drone strikes…
The point of the article was to point out Greenwald’s hypocrisy – plenty of ‘data mining’ going on on his own site and his serious lack of any journalism skills. The article gets into the weeds, but the reason I posted it was to poke a stick in the eye of the Hypocrisy Chief.
i know…it was not meant to be a criticism…. 57..these folks…GG and his followers annoy me…
Good afternoon 57andfemale…
HAPPY TUESDAY to you, Mr.57, Mr. Nickelby, Mr. Kasper and of course pretty girl Miss Pearl : )
The story of Harvey touched my heart. I felt your words and they were beautiful. You and Mr.57 are just awesome human beings.
If you decide to write children books one day, I am your agent. Here’s the 1st one.
Mr. Harvey Finds a Home and Our World Is Changed Forever
I can see FLOTUS sitting before the students and reading this beautiful story. : )
First of all, thank you for your kind words and the strong, positive energy I feel from you every day.
My goodness you hit on something: many, many years ago I wanted to write children’s books. Life took different directions and I haven’t thought about that in decades.
I would need an illustrator because I’m challenged to draw stick figures, much less illustrate a children’s book.
Now I can’t get that image of a book about Harvey out of my mind. Or the endless conversations I imagine my pups having that I cannot hear…….
FYI, I’m letting myself believe that my sweet Nickelby is out of the woods. Daddy let him out too many times yesterday but he still seems pain-free.
Pearl looked particularly lovely in her purple sweater with a little monkey applique on the back with a pretty pink bow. Although she, for one, has had enough of this terrible winter.
Love you, girl friend!
Too cute for words…..now I am visualizing Miss Pearl. Good news for Mr. Nickelby, puppy prayers are working : )
Go for it 57andfemale! write that book about Harvey, our pets can change our lives just as humans can and do. I can see it happening for you; Broadway play…a movie, a – okay I’ll slow down : ) Just Do It!
The dream has been resurrected and nothing is by coincidence. I always tell my students; reach for the moon, and if you miss it, you will be left among the stars. If you never do what you have thought about doing, you’ll never know, if it could have been done. Now get out there and introduce the world to Mr. Harvey.
YES YOU CAN!!!!!
Love you back : )
Aw so sweet and supportive! I gotta go read the story.
I just love this blog! This place is home to such smart, talented, courageous, and loving people! Y’all are awesome!
CSPAN TV is not covering this joint press conference. #shameful.

Free enterprise and advertising. We love it.
Only problem was that the dress-up was a giant banana and the product was an AK-27.

I bet it was a BFD to hear the words, but it’s even better to be able to read them over and over and over again! Especially the Syria reconsideration and the trust Pres. Obama has garnered.

President Hollande to visit Silicon Valley tomorrow. Both he and Obama mention the importance of technology in solving climate change.— POTUS Channel (@SXMPOTUS) February 11, 2014
The ‘simple’ answer to the Washington Post’s feeble assumption that PBO’s initiative arose as a result of criticism.
And so it comes as no surprise that this week President Obama will announce a new initiative titled “My Brother’s Keeper.”
President Obama will launch a significant new effort this week to bolster the lives of young men of color, seeking to use the power of the presidency to help a group of Americans whose lives are disproportionately affected by poverty and prison.
Obama on Thursday will announce a new White House initiative called “My Brother’s Keeper,” which will bring foundations and companies together to test a range of strategies across the country to support young male minorities, taking steps to keep them in school and out of the criminal justice system, a White House official said. He will also announce that his administration will launch a more vigorous evaluation of what policies work best and publicize results to school systems and others across the country.
This initiative will obviously build on the work Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Attorney General Eric Holder have done to eradicate the school-to-prison pipeline that currently affects so many young men of color.

Thanks Bob for the tweets! You messages are always on time.
[This "tent" is going to look fabulous!]
About 350 guests are expected for the glamorous formal affair, according to a Senior White House Official, which will be held in a massive, dramatically lit indoor pavilion on the South Lawn. The White House calls the structure a “tent,” but it is to a tent as the Flintstone’s car is to a hybrid of a Maserati and a Rolls Royce.

One of the three wines that will be served at the State Dinner…Morlet “La Proportion Doree” 2011
Napa Valley, California
That’s right! Napa Valley, California (GGail doing the happy dance)
Hello, GGail. Joining you in the “happy dance” to celebrate the selection of a California wine for the State Dinner. I am a wine lover and California has some of the most excellent wines I’ve ever tasted. I am also happy that the other wine selection is from Washington State. I love wines from Washington and Oregon.
I swear only the media gives a darn about this ‘spying’ nonsense.
You’re right. They are the only ones.
its laughable, the huge majority of us go through our day not worrying about whether anyone is watching us.. particularly the nsa- as if.
You are absolutely right Sherjr! I certainly don’t wake up every morning thinking that the NSA is after me. I am actually more alert when driving on some of the CA streets and highways, with all those hidden Cameras. I’ve got friends who received citations in the mail, with hefty fines, because the Cameras allegedly recorded their traffic violations.
Feminist groups to attack PBO for saying that his daughters are “gorgeous” in 3…2…1…
Please say that this is a joke hopefruit2…please : (
Yes, I’m joking. But it could very well happen… :)
ok, Good news…
I know you’re having a good day of laughter, so I am losing pace with what is fiction and non-fiction.
Now, you can proceed with your happy day of smiles and laughter : )
Hopefruit may be joking but I remember PBO being attacked for saying that our “gorgeous” CA AG was the best looking AG in the country.
Pardon me feminist groups, they ARE! Facts are facts!
Actually, someone did criticize him for calling them “beautiful” on the night he won re-election. I can’t recall the outlet, but they wrote about their grievance somewhere.
I don’t doubt you, Hf. Someone is always whining about what the Os say, but IMO the facts (in the form of PBO’s lovely princesses) are before our eyes, so I couldn’t care less what they think!
A daughter is always beautiful in her parents’ eyes. What is there so new for the MSM not to understand? or appreciate for that matter?
The person’s “issue” was that by calling girls “beautiful” we are overemphasizing their physical above other attributes…. //SMH

TY #PresHollande for neutering #Snowden, #Greenwald & all their #Emotarian fellow travelers & please pardon Todd & Hayes for their weeping.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 11, 2014
Great tweets as always, NW!!!
Bravo Bob! Between you and Nerdy Wonk, the unethical “Newstainers” and the “Emotarians” can run but they can’t hide.
[Hmmmm. From Boomnan]:
[.....] I think John Boehner and other Establishment mouthpieces have finally found a winning argument that is persuasive with the mouth-breathers. They think that their house majority is safe, and they’ve convinced themselves that they can win control of the Senate if they can just refrain from shooting themselves in the foot. They have been able to take positive polling numbers to the wingnut faction of the party and argue convincingly that they are on a glide path to victory in the midterms, and the idea is that they will win if they can just avoid rocking the boat too much.
That means that there can be no more government shutdowns or downgrading of the country’s credit rating. They don’t have to pass immigration reform. They don’t have to extend unemployment insurance. They really don’t have to do anything other than keep the government open and they will be rewarded by the public despite their role in making the government utterly dysfunctional. In fact, the dysfunction of government is the best argument for Republican governance, because the Democrats insist on behaving as if the government can do things effectively.
So, elected Tea Partiers (as opposed to the unelected kind) are willing to sit back and wait for their reward, and then they can really attack this president and his health care law. [.....]
They are in for a big surprise on 4 Nov 2014 …..
I hope so. I hope the American GOP class realizes that most of the actions of the GOP have no benefit for them and vote them out.
How are you? ça va?
Am doing well, NCLB, buried in work, as always :)
Hope your in as good of health as possible and enjoying each day!
Yes Indeed, Bob! Most importantly, it’s up to every one of us to make sure that we deliver the “big surprise.” Just as we did when we re-elected President Obama.
Shorter POTUS: media all over the world are indeed assholes.
Exactly, that’s how I read it.
uh-huh. also paid propagandists shilling for the 1%
Ha! I liked how they both just walked away.. nicely done :)
Wasn’t that great. I was just about to say — enough already with the snarky questions.
it was.. no thank yous, nada.. just walking away. we.are.done. :)
I reserve my biggest distrust, dislike for all media. It used to be they worked for the people, the majority – in the interest of the people.. ferreting out lies; etc… Now they work solely for the corporate owners.. they no longer expose dishonesty- they manufacture and propagate it… I believe basically nothing that they say anymore.. without evidence. Sick of their gossip and the way they go all out to set us all up against one another.
to be clear- I stopped watching all of them in 2007.. wouldn’t watch a pundit to save my life.
I am with you, Sherijr! I stopped watching t.v. (network and cable) two years after you, 2009. I still read selective newspapers, but no more subscriptions. I even cancelled my subscription to the Nation Magazine once it became the mouthpiece of the emoprogs who hate President Obama.
A massive attack that exploited a key vulnerability in the infrastructure of the internet is the “start of ugly things to come”, it has been warned.
Online security specialists Cloudflare said it recorded the “biggest” attack of its kind on Monday.
Hackers used weaknesses in the Network Time Protocol (NTP), a system used to synchronise computer clocks, to flood servers with huge amounts of data.
The technique could potentially be used to force popular services offline.
Several experts had predicted that the NTP would be used for malicious purposes.
The target of this latest onslaught is unknown, but it was directed at servers in Europe, Cloudflare said.

Too bad they had to cancel the dancing part of the state din due to Holland’s new single status—-well, sorta single, here without new actress pal. Guess there aren’t any single gals at the state din—-or even married gals—-willing to take him for a spin on the dance floor. (surprising because even tho he’s not that cute, they could have at least told their friends they danced with the president of France) (oh well) Guess the dancers at the event will just have to be happy with shimmying in their seats to Mary J.
