Woohoo, back atcha, 99ts!
Hi vc – you been the busy worker this week? Have not seen you around
Yea, I actually had to go to work – can you believe it!!! And of course, have had to cook upon my return home!
Life’s tough when work takes over We all have to eat – cooking is good.
Cooking is even better when someone else takes over. That’s my considered position, 99ts, and I’m sticking with it!
Hear, hear, VC!
I’ve been doing it too long – Mr 99 long forgot anything he ever knew about cooking. At least we do at times “eat out”. In the first 15 years of my life we ate out – once that I can remember – and take away – fish and chips as a very very special treat. My mom deserves 65 medals and more.
Chips all around us – thankyou NW – some great threads today
Can I be first?
In our hearts!
Wow Dudette, I’m honored
Virginia AG Herring announces VA same-sex marriage ban stuck down as unconstitutional by fed court, stayed pending appeal to 4th circuit.— Dave Stroup (@DaveStroup) February 14, 2014
I don’t think it’s too much to say that the DOMA case was the Roe v. Wade, or Brown v. Board of Education of our day. It was that important.
Who is doing the appealing? I would have thought not Herring?
This is in Virginia. Wow…wow…WOW!

Btw, that’s the new Dem AG right there! Woooooooot!
Hey Dudette, so glad to see you here. Elections have consequences and I hope everyone remember during the midterm.
Hey COS! Glad to see you too!
“Elections have consequences and I hope everyone remember during the midterm.” — Amen to that!
Yes indeed, COS! Elections do have consequences. Like you, I am always delighted to see Dudette. She brings so much joy, energy, and spirit, to TOD.
Darn! Knew I’d get beat to first by the pros!
Was just catching up on today’s posts and laughed out loud at the “So white outside” hashtag tweets! Thank you for those! I needed a little smile because I got some bad news yesterday concerning a dear friend’s health. I’m surrounding her with light, just like I do for my TOD folks who ask for light work, and I am confident she will be o.k., but the laughs today were much needed and appreciated!
I’m not on Twitter, but did anyone tweet this?:
“So white outside that I was asked for voter ID in order to vote on how white outside it is.”
I’m no pro Soph – just the right time of day in my world. I’m always amazed to see “leave a comment”
Sending all good thoughts to your friend
Thanks 99ts! I know that TOD love and light works!
Hope all is lovely in Australia!
Smart RT @ThePlumLineGS Ds will try to get Medicaid expansion on ballot in Louisiana on Election Day 2014, I'm told washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-lin…— Steve Benen (@stevebenen) February 13, 2014
This is all becoming a hoot!
I couldn't possibly comment, Mr. President. RT @BarackObama: Tomorrow: @HouseOfCards. No spoilers, please.— Frank Underwood (@Frank_Underwood) February 14, 2014
I find it absolutely delightful to think of PBO actually enjoying time to binge-watch anything his beautiful heart desires! To think he can make time to change the focus of the pressure of being POTUS, and just be human!
Inorite?! I can just see him lounging there in his comfy clothes with his chips, engrossed in the drama.
With his feet up. Feet must be up! Total relaxation! ♥
Indeed Mighty P. And people appreciate that about him – hence the overwhelmingly positive response from the masses.
Perfect comment – I can’t see the US show in my world but the English version – and the books – I just loved – that the politician was called Francis Urquhart – was the icing on the cake.
I loved the British version. The American version is DC-centric so ……well, it’s DC politics.
I recently re-watched the british version and by the end of season 2 found the show deeply depressing. Francis Urquhart Frank Underwood same initials FU
Gosh – I found it too real to be depressing – powerful man seducing young woman – must admit I wasn’t expecting some of the outcomes – but politics is often mean – why some things that happen for real are hidden from view – unless there is some real journalism.
I am probably more used to British drama – we see much more of it than the shows from the US (Probably cheaper for our networks to buy – I don’t do cable).
Seducing is one thing. throwing her off the roof—YIKES
People have been known to disappear when they know too much – and then follows the coverup.
It did, of course bring some unbelievable shudders – I haven’t seen the US version so I guess that was changed. I certainly wasn’t expecting it! The brits do like to shock – different to the view most have of their conservative take on anything.
But please don’t think I don’t see your point of view – it was very startling.
Urquhart was so sublimely villainous.
You have all the right words LL – I also thought deliciously villainous – his seduction technique was never in doubt.
Urquhart was the consummate villain……beautifully dressed, beautiful home, upper class wife, upper class diction…and totally evil! We loved it…..true some awful twists…..the end of season one was horrible (in a suspensebuilding way) but we went on to all three seasons. We tried House of Cards Am version, and couldn’t get through the first episode, so haven’t watched again.
However, it is fun to see so many people excited about a TV series……..kind of like the old days…….I think these short seasons are good. Powerful writing, great acting, total involvement.
So true – most of what we now see is “reality” – which I live with every day. Some drama with good writing good acting is much needed.
So cool. PBO is so much fun.
Anybody out there watching the Olympics?
Jeremy Abbott fell hard, got up and rocked the house! It was something to see!
We folks back home need to send that man some love for showing the world how it’s done.
Kudos to @jeremyabbottpcf for showing the world how we roll #Style #Class #GoTeamUSA youtu.be/Ajzpd-ONOdo :-)— Dudette (@Dudette9t9) February 14, 2014
Saw it. Felt so bad for him but he did “rock” the rest. Of course, his score took a hit.
What matters more is how he handled the fall. Straight up class.
High scores and medals are nice, but that he got up and powered through adversity, that’s what kids should see… Hell, it’s what everyone should see and remember.
I love your heart, Dudette. You’re incredibly thoughtful to those around you. Even if they’re not immediately around you!
Thanks JOB, but I’m merely a spectator! Jeremy’s the one who showed tremendous heart out there. We should all be proud of him!
I just love watching the Games – Summer and Winter. There’s so much more to it than just the scores. Every athlete’s got a story. Not everyone who goes will come home with a medal. For the vast majority, just having made it there is a great achievement. For some, doing their best on the same stage as the best in the world is enough. For some it’s about proving something to the world, for still others – proving something to themselves.
So many life lessons too. The rewards of hard work & dedication. Overcoming the odds. Believing in yourself. Being a part of something bigger. It’s all there. There’s nothing else like the Olympics.
They might not all come away with what they went there to get, but I’m sure many go home with indelible memories and lives all the more richer for the experience.
Beautifully said. . .
Do you remember “The thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat”?
Absolutely! Burned into my memory.
Thanks for the memories. . .
Happy Valentines tomorrow. ❤️
Beautifully written. Your last sentence is also a bit like “the story of life.” And you are a fine spectator, indeed.
GIT ON UP! Yeahahhhh. ♥ it.
I will finish with watching the Olympics before taking on Season 2 of House of Cards. Just finished watching the old mini series from the Netflix DVD mail of Backstairs at the White House. My daughter got me season 1-3 DVD collection of Downton Abbey. I am on season 2 right now while recording season 4 on tv to watch when I finish season 2 & 3. I have these to keep me busy during Winter months.
I’m just about to finish up the DVDs of Downtown Abbey Season 3 . I made the mistake of watching the first episode of Season 4 on TV. Dang, that was a major mistake. I’m still hyped to finish Season 3, but kinda bummed that I know too much now.
I see what the President means about spoilers for House Cards. Guess I need to order the DVDs of that too, so I’ll know what the fuss is all about.
http://www.simplyjune.org/p/downton-abbey.html You can watch it all here on June’s wonderful website!
Is it expensive? We have a high cable bill because everything is bundled. One reason we don’t go out to movies much. I don’t like this merger of the two cable companies. We don’t have either one of the companies, but it will be like electricity, airlines, everything. Glad Al Franken is on it.
I’m taping and watching as my eyes permit. How are you Dudette? Good to see you posting.
I don’t know if this will be of interest to anyone here at TOD but I’m pretty sure that the Christie investigation is going to mushroom in ways that may be surprising to many.
For example: the GW Bridge and the Port Authority that runs it, is a Joint agency of NY and NJ. We haven’t heard anything from NY Gov. Cuomo yet on Bridgegate not to mention that in 2010 when Christie stopped the NY to NJ tunnel between the 2 states and Christie kept the money for NJ well, I don’t remember New York’s Governor speaking up then, either. hmmmm
Records of this disgraceful event have now been subpoened indicating that Bridgegate is only one of Christies many many problems.
I’m interested. I had stopped watching MSNBC until I got a link in my email re: Kornacki’s Mayor Zimmer interview. What Christie did with the tunnel money is similar to some of the things Blagojevich was charged and convicted of. I think diverting money EARMARKED for a specific purpose to another purpose without due process is a crime. I believe some of the money if not most of it was federal. Maddow did an excellent reporting on this piece. Also, the New Atlantic article on Christie seduction of the mainstream media, which in turn duped and manipulated the public. I never admired Christie because to me he seemed to have little control over what he put in his mouth and what came out. He always seemed both emotionally disturbed and a thug. There’s also an interesting tidbit in the reporting by Maddow and the New Atlantic about Cory Booker. Cory may have went along with Christie’s election scheme in exchange for assurances that he would get a US Senate seat. Maybe if he had not gone along Buono would be gov and Cory would still be senator. I just thought that piece was interesting.
idon—-we are on the same page here and I think the Booker info will be the next shoe to drop.
Also, David Sampson has barely been mentioned and his name is on the Bridgegate e-mails. Part of Hudson Lights Hoboken project also.
Stopping ARC and redirecting the money. Who benefited?
Andrew Cuomo why haven’t we heard from you?
Is there NY money you redirected also?
The questions are endless and I think we will eventually get all of them. This drama will be unfolding for years.

My fav park I think.
Catch you on the morrow. Sweet dreams!
I would like to know exactly at what point I became my missus' charwoman. Off to launder her uniforms for her shift tonight.— Liberal Librarian (@Lib_Librarian) February 14, 2014
“Charwoman” isn’t used often enough in conversation these days.
Is there such a word as charman? – you don’t fit my image of a charwoman
No, charman does not exist. “Valet” would be the closest approximation.
Valet seems more like a gentleman’s servant – rather than the man who does the clothes washing
You are not her charwoman but rather her one-of-a-kind hubby.
That’s part of the “partnership” deal, isn’t it?

If you any of you tod gals believe in all that valentine crap, you can be my valentine.
No valentine’s day in my world – which is already the 14th & as usual I will cook the dinner.
Well, since it’s the same world, after all, that we share, no matter the time of day, Happy Valentine’s Day – and I hope you enjoy the dinner!
ty jacqueline – I am cooking pasta with my favorite tomato/basil sauce – yours is probably the only Happy V Day message that will be known in this household – somewhat like thanksgiving it’s not much of an Australian event – no matter how hard the media and the shopping malls try to make it big
We’ll share it – if you share the pasta!
– when I was a newly wed whenever we had a meal with friends (not so many restaurants in those days) I used to ask for the recipes – this sauce was from a lady from Poland – seriously easy (and I had never before cooked pasta) – so many years later – still tastes good

I do not know if I am the only one who feels that beneath the loud noises of the rightwingers and extremists across the globle, a tectonic shift is happening among the consciousness of millions;
this tectonic shift is pulling in the positive direction (e.g. socio-economic justice, sustainability, equality, recognition of the value of community and diversity);
it seems the extremists are trying to make a final stand because they fear the changes that are occurring before their very eyes;
Excellent.. that has been my point of view for some time.
The extremists and wingnuts are losing BIG TIME!! That’s why they keep screaming louder and louder.
