          Yes indeed, COS! Elections do have consequences. Like you, I am always delighted to see Dudette. She brings so much joy, energy, and spirit, to TOD.

    Darn! Knew I’d get beat to first by the pros! :-)

    Was just catching up on today’s posts and laughed out loud at the “So white outside” hashtag tweets! Thank you for those! I needed a little smile because I got some bad news yesterday concerning a dear friend’s health. I’m surrounding her with light, just like I do for my TOD folks who ask for light work, and I am confident she will be o.k., but the laughs today were much needed and appreciated!

    I’m not on Twitter, but did anyone tweet this?:

    “So white outside that I was asked for voter ID in order to vote on how white outside it is.” :-)

      I find it absolutely delightful to think of PBO actually enjoying time to binge-watch anything his beautiful heart desires! To think he can make time to change the focus of the pressure of being POTUS, and just be human!

      Perfect comment :) – I can’t see the US show in my world but the English version – and the books – I just loved – that the politician was called Francis Urquhart – was the icing on the cake.

      • February 13, 2014 at 10:27 pm

        I loved the British version. The American version is DC-centric so ……well, it’s DC politics.

        February 13, 2014 at 10:32 pm

        I recently re-watched the british version and by the end of season 2 found the show deeply depressing. Francis Urquhart Frank Underwood same initials FU

          February 13, 2014 at 10:40 pm

          Gosh – I found it too real to be depressing – powerful man seducing young woman – must admit I wasn’t expecting some of the outcomes – but politics is often mean – why some things that happen for real are hidden from view – unless there is some real journalism.

          I am probably more used to British drama – we see much more of it than the shows from the US (Probably cheaper for our networks to buy – I don’t do cable).

              People have been known to disappear when they know too much – and then follows the coverup.

              It did, of course bring some unbelievable shudders – I haven’t seen the US version so I guess that was changed. I certainly wasn’t expecting it! The brits do like to shock – different to the view most have of their conservative take on anything.

              But please don’t think I don’t see your point of view – it was very startling.

      • February 13, 2014 at 10:33 pm

        Urquhart was so sublimely villainous.

          February 13, 2014 at 10:42 pm

          You have all the right words LL – I also thought deliciously villainous – his seduction technique was never in doubt.

            February 13, 2014 at 10:55 pm

            Urquhart was the consummate villain……beautifully dressed, beautiful home, upper class wife, upper class diction…and totally evil! We loved it…..true some awful twists…..the end of season one was horrible (in a suspensebuilding way) but we went on to all three seasons. We tried House of Cards Am version, and couldn’t get through the first episode, so haven’t watched again.

              However, it is fun to see so many people excited about a TV series……..kind of like the old days…….I think these short seasons are good. Powerful writing, great acting, total involvement.

                So true – most of what we now see is “reality” – which I live with every day. Some drama with good writing good acting is much needed.

    Anybody out there watching the Olympics?
    Jeremy Abbott fell hard, got up and rocked the house! It was something to see!
    We folks back home need to send that man some love for showing the world how it’s done.

    • February 13, 2014 at 10:29 pm

      Saw it. Felt so bad for him but he did “rock” the rest. Of course, his score took a hit.

      • 45 Dudette
        February 13, 2014 at 10:37 pm

        What matters more is how he handled the fall. Straight up class.
        High scores and medals are nice, but that he got up and powered through adversity, that’s what kids should see… Hell, it’s what everyone should see and remember.

            Thanks JOB, but I’m merely a spectator! Jeremy’s the one who showed tremendous heart out there. We should all be proud of him!

            I just love watching the Games – Summer and Winter. There’s so much more to it than just the scores. Every athlete’s got a story. Not everyone who goes will come home with a medal. For the vast majority, just having made it there is a great achievement. For some, doing their best on the same stage as the best in the world is enough. For some it’s about proving something to the world, for still others – proving something to themselves.

            So many life lessons too. The rewards of hard work & dedication. Overcoming the odds. Believing in yourself. Being a part of something bigger. It’s all there. There’s nothing else like the Olympics.

            They might not all come away with what they went there to get, but I’m sure many go home with indelible memories and lives all the more richer for the experience.

      I will finish with watching the Olympics before taking on Season 2 of House of Cards. Just finished watching the old mini series from the Netflix DVD mail of Backstairs at the White House. My daughter got me season 1-3 DVD collection of Downton Abbey. I am on season 2 right now while recording season 4 on tv to watch when I finish season 2 & 3. I have these to keep me busy during Winter months.

        I’m just about to finish up the DVDs of Downtown Abbey Season 3 . I made the mistake of watching the first episode of Season 4 on TV. Dang, that was a major mistake. I’m still hyped to finish Season 3, but kinda bummed that I know too much now.

        I see what the President means about spoilers for House Cards. Guess I need to order the DVDs of that too, so I’ll know what the fuss is all about. :-D

    I don’t know if this will be of interest to anyone here at TOD but I’m pretty sure that the Christie investigation is going to mushroom in ways that may be surprising to many.
    For example: the GW Bridge and the Port Authority that runs it, is a Joint agency of NY and NJ. We haven’t heard anything from NY Gov. Cuomo yet on Bridgegate not to mention that in 2010 when Christie stopped the NY to NJ tunnel between the 2 states and Christie kept the money for NJ well, I don’t remember New York’s Governor speaking up then, either. hmmmm

    Records of this disgraceful event have now been subpoened indicating that Bridgegate is only one of Christies many many problems.

    Stay tuned.

      I’m interested. I had stopped watching MSNBC until I got a link in my email re: Kornacki’s Mayor Zimmer interview. What Christie did with the tunnel money is similar to some of the things Blagojevich was charged and convicted of. I think diverting money EARMARKED for a specific purpose to another purpose without due process is a crime. I believe some of the money if not most of it was federal. Maddow did an excellent reporting on this piece. Also, the New Atlantic article on Christie seduction of the mainstream media, which in turn duped and manipulated the public. I never admired Christie because to me he seemed to have little control over what he put in his mouth and what came out. He always seemed both emotionally disturbed and a thug. There’s also an interesting tidbit in the reporting by Maddow and the New Atlantic about Cory Booker. Cory may have went along with Christie’s election scheme in exchange for assurances that he would get a US Senate seat. Maybe if he had not gone along Buono would be gov and Cory would still be senator. I just thought that piece was interesting.

        idon—-we are on the same page here and I think the Booker info will be the next shoe to drop.

        Also, David Sampson has barely been mentioned and his name is on the Bridgegate e-mails. Part of Hudson Lights Hoboken project also.

        Stopping ARC and redirecting the money. Who benefited?
        Andrew Cuomo why haven’t we heard from you?
        Is there NY money you redirected also?
        The questions are endless and I think we will eventually get all of them. This drama will be unfolding for years.

          ty jacqueline – I am cooking pasta with my favorite tomato/basil sauce :) – yours is probably the only Happy V Day message that will be known in this household – somewhat like thanksgiving it’s not much of an Australian event – no matter how hard the media and the shopping malls try to make it big :)

              :) – when I was a newly wed whenever we had a meal with friends (not so many restaurants in those days) I used to ask for the recipes – this sauce was from a lady from Poland – seriously easy (and I had never before cooked pasta) – so many years later – still tastes good

    I do not know if I am the only one who feels that beneath the loud noises of the rightwingers and extremists across the globle, a tectonic shift is happening among the consciousness of millions;

    this tectonic shift is pulling in the positive direction (e.g. socio-economic justice, sustainability, equality, recognition of the value of community and diversity);

    it seems the extremists are trying to make a final stand because they fear the changes that are occurring before their very eyes;
