Here I am tnmtngrl, just checking in. I have been really busy this past week so mostly lurking. This next week will be just as busy. My neighbor down the hall from has to go into Memory Care and I am helping her daughter sort out and get rid of. She found a permanent place for her and we are moving her stuff the the room she will be staying and getting things she is familiar with before the transition. Elaine (Whynaught) is her name and she is 95 years old, the sweetest lady you could ever want to meet. Carol was worried about her wandering out of the building at night and not being able to get back in. She will be in a protected are. And then after that, we have a month to finish packing and selling what she wants to get rid of. Plus working in the Senior Dining lunch Monday, Thursday, Friday, and stupid doctor appointments again. Busy busy. Finally put on Oxygen for night time and I feel much better. Actually more coherent than I have been for a long time. Low Oxygen levels will do that for you. :)
    Sorry for the monologue.

GOOD MORNING Chips – NW and anyone else who has snuck in while I was typing away. (more snow today) :-(

Roberta, it’s wonderful you’re helping your neighbor, but please take care of yourself. Health first, busy-ness later. Hope your elderly neighbor gets good care and likes her new surroundings. This kind of transition is hard on all around.

Good morning. I had the most wonderful Valentine’s Day I could hope for. Even the weather cooperated and delivered moderate temps for the first time in weeks. Of course, we’re paying for it today with more snow to make the roads slicker. But Spring is now only five weeks away. The days are getting marginally longer and we’re bound to get more and more temperatures in the 30’s. Next week nominating petitions are available in PA, so we’ll be hitting the streets to get signatures for candidates.

    • February 15, 2014 at 7:52 am

Good morning to all. I also extend my thanks to Nerdy and Chips. Jackie, what is Tom Wolff like as a candidate for PA gov? He is running ads and they are on tv here at the south Jersey shore.

Diane, Tom Wolf has good progressive ideas and LOTS of money (his own) that he’s putting into the campaign. He’s hitting Phillie hard with ads, which is why you’re seeing them in South Jersey. He has held no public office and never won a state-wide campaign, so we’ll see if the ads and ideas can put him ahead of the pack. I think he and Rob McCord are the most progressive and also the ones most likely to fight Corbett. I do not feel good about Allyson Schwartz and none of the others have a chance.

The push for organisation started after Volkswagen opened its only US facility in Chattanooga in 2010.

The manufacturer’s 61 other plants around the world have so-called “work councils”, which represent employees’ interests in daily dealings with management.

Mandated by law in Germany and popular in other European countries, works councils have never been tried in a US factory.

Prior to the ballot, VW’s Chattanooga chief executive Frank Fischer said in a statement: “Our plant in Chattanooga has the opportunity to create a uniquely American Works Council, in which the company would be able to work co-operatively with our employees and ultimately their union representatives, if the employees decide they wish to be represented by a union.”

Conservative groups had lead a fierce anti-union campaign in the lead-up to the ballot.

That is what 1968 did to these USA. Nixon won. Dems were out of Presidency but for Carter for 20 plus yrs. The old guard Dems in Congress got lame and old. DLC was born and Unions and Regulations became those the GOP used to demonize Liberal Thinking. Today…..many Dems are not willing to stand and challenge the Lies as delivered by the Media and the TBGOPers.

Hence inequality is to the roof.

GO USA! Lots of boys from Minnesota, New York and Mass playing for the US against the Russions now in Olympic hockey. It’s the 2nd period and still 0-0. Great game. If you have cable it’s on NBCSPTHD.

    McConnell comeuppance! Sweet Schadenfreude

    • 29 Nena20409
      February 15, 2014 at 12:00 pm

McConnell held a pow wow political Coup d’etat in Dec of 2008. In Jan 2009, he was able to coarse the GOP to thwart pres Obama at every turn and in Oct 2010, McConnell said that His Number One Job was to make pres Obama a One Termer. The US Media knew all these and they KEPT MUTE, they were complicit. Dems were Never the Party to LOUDLY scream about the Obstructionists. The few that spoke up were ignored by the 24/7 Media pundits.

Anyone watching “House of Cards” on Netflix? OMG, the 2nd episode is insane. The drama out of the halls of Congress is just off the charts. And in the halls of Congress Frank Underwood has his hands full with the GOP. It mimics much of what is currently going on including the Tea Party insanity including a Ted Cruz character who is their self-created monster in the GOP. I’m a HUGE fan of Netflix – as easy to sign up as Twitter and only costs $8 a month for unlimited viewing of thousands of shows and movies.

I watched the first season of House of Cards twice. Loved it so I looked up the older UK version it was based on also on Netflix. Watched all three seasons of the British original show. Interesting too! Will start season two with Kevin Spacey after the Olympics end.

Reading the description on that article as to how bitcoin works – someone has got to be laughing – all the way to the bank.

The whole thing is a friiggin’ scam.

Kolin Buges, a bitcoin trader from London, said he had travelled to Japan as he was unhappy at MtGox’s explanation for its recent problems on the site which prevented customers from making withdrawals.

He had 250 bitcoins, worth $155,000 in his MtGox account.

“I want to get my bitcoin back, or get MtGox to bring back public confidence that the company is solvent and people’s money [is] safe,” Mr Buges told the Wall Street Journal.

Good luck with that libtard. (yes, I am reassigning that meme to libertarian fucksticks)

“To process Bitcoin transactions, a procedure called “mining” must take place, which involves a computer solving a difficult mathematical problem with a 64-digit solution. For each problem solved, one block of bitcoins is processed. In addition the miner is rewarded with new bitcoins.”

So it’s like digging for gold – except you can stay in the basement and mine mathematical bits. I’ve always found the stock market a bit sus – but it is a pillar of honesty compared to this scheme.
