Love them. Love them. Love them.
Good afternoon TOD Family and Everyone….
Congrats on 1st wtg desertflower!
Thanks for bringing us this post, NW!
Happy Saturday to you!
Hi, Cindy – so glad to see you!
You’re welcome, Ms. J’OB!
Good afternoon Nerdy Wonka….
Happy Saturday to you!!!!!
Happy Saturday to you too!
The world loves them. I love them too!
Hope you’re doing well and I hope that your brother is recovering well from the surgery….
Hiya Cindy! Thanks! We’re both exceedingly good today! Hope you are too!
Yes, decided to have a lazy Saturday : )
Cindy, thank you for your beautiful and thoughtful prayer this week. It was very moving and loving. HZ
Thank you HZ and Happy Saturday to you!
I always share with others, my greatest time in prayer, is to pray for others and lift others up. I try to encourage others because I know that no matter what is not going well in my own life, someone has it worse than me.
When we take our minds off of self, God just has a way of working things out when our hearts are in the right place. I came to the conclusion some years ago; my life is not about me, but what I can do for someone else while making this journey through this thing called life.
So do I! So do I! So do I!
Hi Df, Congratulations!
Happy Saturday to you LDS!
Cindy, so good to be here. How are you?
It is very hard to stay inside when you live in NYC. I need to go for a walk, but the weather is not friendly right now. This trial is taking my mind back to Trayvon’s trial and it is too much too soon. I spoke to family members in GA and there was an earthquake. So good to be with people who cares and loves the Obamas.
Thank you everyone here for just being here. When I get like this I get exceptionally grateful. It helps to stay calm.
Thank you, Ms. Chips and everyone who do what you do when you do it.
(you know who you are)
Enjoyed having a lazy Saturday for a change. Not doing well as it relates to the trial of Jordan Davis. I am praying for his family at this hour of anxiety. I had to stop watching CNN. Nancy Grace sounds very worried about the jurors. She sounded as though she knows what is coming.
I can’t handle it anymore, it hurts to the core to know that if this was the other way around, the verdict would probably have taken less than an hour. I just feel like this is another Saturday evening that blacks will not have justice.
I remember when the jurors was held up in Trevon’s trial; Saturday evening and pouring in Florida. I remember thinking that the verdict was not guilty because Heaven was crying so hard. Of course, the rest is history. It’s calm and breezy tonight but my nerves are so unsettled that I am pacing back and forth, trying to keep busy. I can’t come close to understanding what Jordan’s parents are feeling.
I pray that God will move on the jurors hearts to do what is right because it is right.
Cindy, just be still and know that God is God. As we wait, we pray for peace.
Eh – foolish me – thought I’d give Don Lemon’s rant on CNN a look, but I just can’t – feeling sick about it. Not sure who will say what, but if the chatter is all same-old, same-old, no thanks. I’m not hanging around to see if it is or not – I’ll just wait for the final verdict.
It was not too long ago jacquelineoboomer, on a Saturday rainy afternoon that we waited for Trevon’s murderer to be convicted. This is just gut wrenching : (
Definitely. Glad I have TOD folks to hang with, during this.
I love them too!
Happy Saturday sherijr!!!!!!
Happy Saturday Cindy ~ thank you
Good Evening to 4 of the best TODVille residents: Dudette, Jacquelineoboomer, Cindy and DesertFlower. Hope while I am typing this, I am not missing anyone posting.
Good Evening to Chipsticks!!!
Congrats to DesertFlower.
To be sure, I missed LDS and Sherijr. Good Evening you two!
Thank you Nerdy Wonka for the beautiful picture, a symbol of love on this Valentine’s Day weekend.
You’re welcome, NCLB.
I accept ~ lol, good to see you NCLB
Heeeeyyyy No Child Left Behind…..
Happy Saturday to YOU!!!!
We all at TOD love The First family. Out in the country, too, far away from TOD people love POTUS and FLOTUS.
I am very old and i Never remember the interest that a first lady’s dress caused to rival the interest shown in lots of FLOTUS’ dresses. No, not even Jackie .
This is precisely the problem for the GOP/TP/MSM.
Nothing they do and say. No mud they throw——nothing has dimmed our love our interest our respect.
I am unhinged by what is going on in Florida right now and I see it as proxy destruction of POTUS.
Maybe a nice glass of red wine will help me calm down.
Jurors are coming in…..
Jury has another question: They are discussing as directed but if cannot agree on Count 1, are all charges a mistrial or just Count 1?
Happy Saturday to you!!!
Okay, I thought they had a verdict. I can’t watch this anymore, this is just heart breaking. This hateful man shot and killed someone’s baby for no reason, other than Jordan spoke back to him.
I feel hurt running all through my blood because this is taking too long. The man murdered this child, tried to kill all of the young men; drove off and went to his hotel and ordered pizza. There was no concern for Jordan Davis life. He treated Jordan as if he was hunting an animal, and this is how some in white society are looking at our black children. How long do we have to keep reliving these nightmares of pain, anguish and hurt? I am just so tired; feeling helpless as our children are gun down like animals.
Jury’s coming back in to hear “guidance” from the judge … something he just talked about makes him sound pretty sloppy to me. We’ll see.
I want to believe that those jurors were not pulled from another planet. I hope that God touch their hearts so that they can collectively do the right thing. Justice for the poor boy that lost his life at the end of an unrepentant, cynical, racist guy.
Praying for the same. Can’t stop thinking about the parents.
Oops! Huge mistake!!! Should be “at the hands of” and not “at the end of”.
The judge has a very different demeanor than most judges I’ve seen. He is overly friendly and chatty and I don’t think it’s appropriate. It’s like he’s always trying to prove he’s a nice guy.
I noticed that too. It’s disturbing, inappropriate, and unbecoming.
Exactly. Imagine being Jordan’s parents sitting there listening to that claptrap.
Yes … with the grieving parents right there in the courtroom. I was thinking the same.
Where’d they dig up that judge, I wonder.
He went overboard about the hardworking jury – EVERY jury should evaluate the evidence and check out the rules – and most of them do. Maybe Florida is too used to juries that acquit too easily.
A trial is about the accused and the victim – they should be the focus – not the jury.
Hello there, NCLB!
I have been physically lurking while LOL, praying, dancing, smiling, crying, signing petitions, sending tweets…..fed up with GOP
Most of all, grateful to come here and chill with my TOD family.
So glad to see healing is evident and hope sustains us all.
Healing is very evident. My oncologist cleared for work on Wednesday and I am so glad. It’s been 10 months that I had to stay home for various treatments. Although I will follow a lot of restrictions, but to go to work will make me feel “normal” again and strengthen my sense of hope. I thank all of you for your prayers and kind words.
And yes, TOD is a place I visited everyday even when I was at the hospital. I am very grateful not only to Chipsticks but to all those that contribute regularly by posting an essay, a link, a picture, a reflection, a poem, and a song.
That’s wonderful news, NCLB. Wishing you many more years of good health.
Thanks, Nerdy Wonka.
You are so very welcome. You just brought some joy inside my tears!
A Miracle, that’s what you are!
Wonderful news nclb – so pleased to hear
Praise God….we are so thankful that all our prayers have been effective in your healing. I know that your positive attitude and the dedication of u your doctors have also attributed to your recovery.
This jury is leaving me tense. They’ve come back for the second time to ask about the first count and mistrial. The judge already clarified that if they cannot reach a decision on first degree murder, then a mistrial will be declared on only that count.
Think I heard the sloppy judge admit he should have used “count” vice “case” in his last instruction (relating to mistrial on first count). Not sure. In any event, I agree with you that the only thing to feel is tense about the last few questions (and then some).
I think at this point they are parsing every single word.
does anybody have a link to what they are listening to for the trial?
Here is the one I’m listening to. I think it’s the main feed.
It’s been silent all day except for when court was called into session to answer jury questions but now it’s a bunch of commentary because they think a verdict is near.

I simply pray that Dems running for office go on the offense with the ACA and not shy away from it. Most of Dems need to grow a BIG pair. They have no backbone at times and prefer to join in the mischiefs of the Teabaggers rather than standing their grounds. In fact, that’s the problem: they have political convictions and simply try to ride a wave coming their way.

heres the thing on the Dunn trial.. if I’m reading correctly, how can they possibly find guilty on attempted murder – of the other young men.. and yet not guilty or mistrial on the actual murder of Jordan Davis.. I realize this is still ongoing. But in essence if they can’t agree on a murder conviction.. how the effing eff do they agree on attempted murder?? I am sick of this sh*t.
We don’t know what they’ve decided on Counts 2 – 5 yet.
My only rough guess on this is if they do vote guilty on those counts is that they didn’t think the other three young men spoke to or interacted with Dunn in any way yet Dunn fired at all of them. There was a bullet fired into the back of the car that narrowly missed the driver’s head and 3 bullets fired into the front passenger’s door.
thanks for the info meta.

Mary J. is a great performer, singer, why shouldn’t the French and everyone else love her. I think she is wonderful.
By the way I’ve heard that to yardarm756
You know what I mean.
Very true Yardarm756.
I am beginning to believe that these same Prosecutors are incompetent when it comes to fighting for black families when their child has been murdered at the hands of racist individuals.
They did not do a good job in presenting Jordan Davis life to the jurors. They didn’t do it in Treyvon’s case and these two young black men who are dead, and can’t speak from the grave, are made out to be the killers and caused their own death.
This cycle has to stop. If this man is found innocent, another black male child will be murdered by another racist who believes that blacks have no self worth in this country.
Some nitwit on CNN just remarked that the defense should have shown jury photo of Jordan Davis because he looked just like a young Barack Obama. What????
That’s what I meant upthread about proxy destruction. Racists can’t directly stop POTUS but they will take their vengeance elsewhere.
OK, I’m turning CNN off. Poison.
Time for PBO onTNT with the NBA.

JURY IS BACK
I am grateful that President Obama is able to be on the west coast and carry out the business of our nation while still being able to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather. He is just an hour and 20 minutes away from my home. I feel like he is in our space during this visit. I pray for wisdom and a productive visit.HZ

JURY HAS REACHED A VERDICT.
Please share it when you’re able, as I can’t watch. thank you
looks like the judge is back in. let’s see what happens
Looks as though the verdict is being read now …
Headline says “verdict on all counts.” Hmmm …
turning TV back on
Deadlocked on one count …
A verdict has been reached on all five counts.
Ladies. I can’t urge you strongly enough to get checked out!!! ♥
Well, in my mind, they TOTALLY got this wrong, but whatever.
If it isn’t Michelle Obama – the world agrees also
Count 1: Deadlocked -> mistrial
Count 2: Guilty
Count 3: Guilty
Count 4: Guilty
Count 5: Guilty
GUILTY of attempted 2nd degree murder with discharge of a firearm.
meta, I think I saw that the State Prosecutor has already said they would retry on Count 1 if a mistrial was the result. Is that correct? TY
Yes, I believe so.
1st count – mistrial on that count; no verdict reached
2nd – GUILTY
3rd – GUILTY
4th – GUILTY
5th – GUILTY
Thank you, Jesus.
Tell me about it!
O my gosh,
Thank you Dear God in Heaven in Jesus name….
okay following on twitter.. mistrial on 1 count. If I’m understanding then its 4 counts of guilty of attempted murder.. and yet mistrial on actually murder. total BS.
probably could not agree on M1,M2 or manslaughter – one hopes that was the case
thank you, I didn’t even think of that 99ts. I do hope some of them will talk and explain to us.
Not leaving out the idea that one or more think Dunn fired in self defense – but truly hope not.
however, I’m thinking that theres only a mistrial when they can’t decide on guilt or innocence.. so if they’d decided he was guilty, just deadlocked on 1st or 2nd degree, I’m not sure that’s a mistrial.. someone here should know.
No sherijr – it’s a mistrial if they can’t agree on a verdict – they had the 4 options and had to agree on one of them
I see, I actually they had 2 steps- to find him guilty or innocent.. then if guilty- of which degree of murder. Your answer clarifies for me. I’m thinking 12 people- some finding him guilty of murder one, some of murder two.. some innocent.
I really hope Florida does not let this go, he should be retried on the murder charge.
They may give it away – based on the sentence on the other issues – then again – he will appeal – so could be smart to have another charge on hold
I hope they don’t do that.. justice has not been served on the murder charges. thanks so much for your responses.
Thank you for discussing – I’ve always had an interest in the law – in my world trials are extremely private – no filming – little discussion – only reports directly from the courtroom (no photos). I do think it is fairer to both sides – but difficult to learn about the law as it is practised.
me too – interest in the law. My eldest is any attorney, but not criminal.
Mostly I really just wanted to see Justice for the family of poor Jordan Davis.. I wanted at last that there be consequences for taking the life of a black child in this country.
On the same side there – the law seems to be taking 100s of years to be equal “for all men”
oh you are so right… I do not know how these mothers get up everyday and face it all, with their hearts broken. They have a strength I don’t believe I would have. I wish this was all over for Jordan’s parents. How they do not hate, is beyond me.
I don’t understand. So he is not guilty for killing Jordan?
No—mistrial, maybe he will be re-tried.
they couldn’t decide on his guilt in that count apparently.. just on the attempted murder counts of the other lads.
Jury was deadlocked. Mistrial on Count 1.
Guilty on Count 2.
Guilty on Count 3.
Guilty on Count 4.
Guilty on Count 5.

Hey, Dunn – How does it feel? Now would be the time to hurl out the racist thoughts you’re having right now. Go ahead. I dare you.
Doe it mean that he is not guilty for killing Jordan, I am sorry I am confused?
Matter of mudering Jordan still open. He might have a re-trial.
Cindy, it most likely means they could not agree on whether he should be convicted of 1st or 2nd degree murder. That issue will be taken into account by the Prosecutors when they retry him. The dudes in jail for a long time no matter what.
No, it doesn’t mean he’s not guilty. It means the jury could not agree on that charge. All indications are that he will be re-tried.
No. They could not reach a verdict on the count of first degree murder of Jordan (one of five counts) – either guilty or not guilty – so that count would have to be re-tried by a new jury. There’s “talk” the state will re-try the case. There was more talk that Dunn could plead guilty to a charge of second degree murder of Jordan to get lesser sentencing (years could run concurrent vice consecutive) … but others say he’ll never cut the deal, because he’d have to admit guilt. Look at his face – he feels no guilt. We’ll see how it goes.
How is it possible to not find guilty for murder? Fear of backlash.
MSNBC covering verdict
Rev. Al says “disappointing verdict.”
So he is not guilty for murdering Jordan? I don’t understand.
This jury couldn’t reach a verdict on that first count … he’ll be retried by a new jury on the first degree murder of Jordan.
However, the sentences for the guilty verdicts on the other four counts would give him up to 60-75 years in prison, and that’s the part I’m gratefully hanging onto, in sympathy for the grieving parents, while they continue to wait for justice.
Ok, it appears that this man hasn’t been convicted for killing Jordan. I am feeling sick, this is just another racist getting away with murder.
Yep. I feel sick about it too. While I feel it was right they brought guilty verdicts on the other counts, but still that young man’s death goes unanswered. In that, the jury failed. The prosecutors failed. The justice system failed.
Cindy, he will be in prison for many years for the 4 guilty verdicts.. in fact – he will probably not live as a free man ever again.. hopefully he will also be retried on Jordan’s murder. hopefully.
Tentative sentencing date on counts 2-5 to be set for somewhere around March 24, or whatever, per the sleepy, sloppy judge.
