Good West Coast morning (still !) NW, Chipsticks & TOD family.
Congrats Carolmae on First – way to go!!!
Thanks and good morning!
The video never gets old.
I doesn’t – does it :-)
I wonder what are they gonna do tonight. Hmmmm
It’s a big feather in his cap to have her on during his first week as Host of the Tonight Show.
It will be something fun. I’ll have to set my DVR. I’m not a late night person.
You?, girl, I’m sleep by 9:30pm PST so I know I will only see it if y’all post it here at TOD
WH says President Obama spoke to Angela Merkel on Ukraine today. EU said today that it's moving ahead with sanctions.— Jennifer Epstein (@jeneps) February 20, 2014
Good, NW. I’m glad to see some concerted steps being taken by the US and the EU.
Well off to lunch for me. I’ve missed so much I don’t know what to say.
Out to lunch, bbl
Off to grab a video of me walking over to my coffee pot and back, on my way to picking up the phone to see if anybody in this snowed-in town will come out and give Achy Breaky Grandma a massage. #LetsMove
BBL. Love you guys and your spirit!
Sir Pat Stew is freaking awesome and is doing Twitter right.
The Guardian in reporting about Ellen Page coming out, said Sir Patrick Stewart is gay. He’s not. He’s married. His buddy, Sir Ian McKellen is gay. They’ve been having so much fun in New York while performing in two plays. Their Twitter feeds, tweets, and pictures are the BEST!
This is how Sir Pat Stew responded to the Guardian.
.@Poynter But @guardian I have, like, five or even SEVEN hetero friends and we totally drink beer and eat lots of chicken wings!— Patrick Stewart (@SirPatStew) February 18, 2014
Well, @guardian it makes for a nice change…at least I didn't wake up to the internet telling me I was dead again.— Patrick Stewart (@SirPatStew) February 18, 2014
MT “@Gruaig_Rua: @Poynter Silly @guardian. You can't catch gay by hanging out with #LGBT people."— Patrick Stewart (@SirPatStew) February 18, 2014
Don’t mess with Captain Picard or Aelius Sejanus.
I love Sr Pat’s sense of humor!
wow what a spot on funny response. Sir Pat is one class act :D
Can’t wait to see what Jimmy Fallon and our FLOTUS have cooked up for tonight. You can see that they have fun interacting and promoting exercise.
Bloody overtime goal. Don’t worry USA. We’ll CRUSH their men’s team tomorrow.

Canada’s men team rules!
Ummm we need a SPOILER ALERT ;)
Canada! Canada! Canada!
So, I was called downstairs to catch the final couple of minutes/seconds of women’s hockey! I went so that I could say that I spent some time with offspring.
Hey, VC – I sent you an email. :)
Off to check – thanks for heads-up. ;)
Looking forward to watching FLOTUS/Fallon tonight.

You left out Canada great son…….Ted Cruz.
Yo, Nerdy, they probably need the men’s gold too – to help even things, you know? Women’s gold alone can’t exactly hide Ford and Bieber. Can you help to spread the word? Thanks in advance.

  Phew, DD, I needed that reassurance.
Tell offspring that my friend in Finland hope’s the USA men beat the Canadian men tomorrow, & that they beat the Swed’s, so it will be USA v Finland on Sunday. I told him to keep me posted because I’m not gonna remember.
But you Canadian’s know that I love y’all very much. It’s just a game, nothing personal ♥
GGail, if you think *I* am going to get myself embroiled in a sports face-off, you are waaaayyyy off base, particularly since I never follow any of these sports. I ain’t giving ‘im no message. (In truth he doesn’t follow it either, except to watch a few Olympic finals when the mood hits.) I only went down because he called, and 99½% of the time when he wants to play scrabble or whatever, I say ‘I’m on the blogs; maybe later.’ ;)
When my nephew gets tired of you treating him that way, you tell him, he’s welcome here anytime
;) When you are used to something, it soon becomes your norm. You don’t usually get tired of the norm. At least, not if you have my ‘laid back’ blood running in your veins.
I love this video
One of the most important projects in the fight to support the Affordable Care Act is being accomplished by Charles Gabba, AKA Brainwrap. I urge those who are able to make even a small donation to this cause to support his website ACA Signups . The link for that is here: http://acasignups.net/donate The most effective weapon against RW Koch propaganda is facts and numbers. Charles Gabba has been doing that effectively and is receiving national recognition for it and now quoted by credible news outlets. If you donate, you get a login and can bypass the ads on the site. Help tell the story of Obamacare success!
Thanks for the info, Bill. Any insights into the Cover Oregon website progress?
Hello to my Chips and TOD family. A loving thank you to our NerdyW also. You all are so awesome.
Beautiful day on the West Coast. Grateful for each day. HZ

Very cute Evian ad!
DonnaD – I am so mad at you! I have watched this video almost non-stop since you shared it! I have also watched all the other baby Evian ads that are listed at the end, in between returning to the one you first shared. I am going crazy watching this over and over and over and over………. and grinning. Help me!

So now we hear that Matt Taibii is joining Greenwald’s enterprise. Who will be next—Cenk Uyger, Michael Moore, Markos Moulitsas—all so-called self-identified Left.
Here’s my question: How many of these people will be helping us win in 2014?
Because that is the definition of the democratic Left, Progressive, Liberal whatever you call it.
If you are sitting out the 2014 election you are not a friend of ours.
van jones is probably not far behind in boarding that gravy train.
None of the above have ever been our friends.
truth be told…I would say that they were never friends of ours…
Is this what RWNJs are afraid of? Why they don’t support immigration reform?

DonnaDem and NerdyW posted @WhiteHouse challenge to Canada and PM Harper’s response on the previous thread.
Now that the North American Leaders Summit is over, I found the tweets about our President planning to challenge Canada’s President over Sochi Olympic hockey (from last Friday):

VA House of Delegates just voted to defund Planned Parenthood & prevent abortion assistance for low-income women w/ severe fetal anomalies.— Laura Bassett (@LEBassett) February 20, 2014
NW, surely this will be vetoed by Governor McAuliffe. Next goal for VA is to rid the VA House of leftovers from the 19th century.
Does the VA senate now have a dem majority? Sounds like the VA house is going to emulate their DC house and do nothing than legislate against women – knowing that the legislation is not going anywhere.
And still women vote for these clowns
I also thought that the Dems controlled both houses in VA.
Looking at that tweet – I surely hope the democrats do not control the House of delegates. I think the senate recently passed a bill to repeal the “ultrasound” law – this is probably the answer from the house.
Dems have the Senate, Rs have the House.
Thanks Bill – that was what I thought

Somehow I’ve never seen the film! Just put it in my Netflix queue.
It’s a film from the 80′s. I think I saw it a while ago on the Tuner Movie Classics. I didn’t see the play version so it will be interesting to see how the changes were made for Black characters.

Tornado Warning for Fayette County in IL until 5:15 PM CST weather.com/weather/alerts…— The Weather Channel (@weatherchannel) February 20, 2014
Yes, I know. Hope everyone is safe.
Not sure where Fayette Co. is—-must be southern Illinois. Not that it’s real picture perfect in my neck o the woods—-lightning and tstorm right now. We’ve had everything in the last 24 hours—-snow, rain, sleet, ice, fog. Local weather said could get hail. I think that about covers it. Worst winter that I can ever remember. Picked the wrong year to not go to Florida. Really pouring now—-with high winds—-forgot those—-but here they are. Freaky Friday (Thursday).
Yep, everything but locusts and the plague in my neck of the IL woods, too. Everybody was out rescuing their recycle bins earlier, and battening down the hatches.
Oh, I hope it’s better this morning. I hate the wind more than anything! Take care.

Christie still pretending he knows what he is doing
Chris Christie Makes Things Worse By Staging A Rigged Town Hall
“On his way in to his first “town hall” since the Bridgegate scandal was tracked right into his inner office, Gov. Chris Christie was met with protesters. Inside, Christie tried to off-load mounting criticism of his conduct and the state’s plan for Sandy recovery by shifting blame to the federal government, implying the feds didn’t send enough money, or got New Jersey snared in its red tape.
Bob Ingle, already conversant with the orchestration of Christie “town Halls” shows, and carefully chosen audiences, informed Costa that no Bridgegate talk from the crowd inside was “due to prescreening”. ”
Who would have guessed – a prescreened audience for Gov Christie

“When PBO 1st took office there were no solar projects approved on pub. lands & no process in place 2 move forward" tiny.cc/5krlbx— Vick C. (@sonamie) February 20, 2014
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As part of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan to reduce carbon pollution, create jobs and move our economy toward clean energy sources, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell today announced the approval of two solar energy projects located near the Nevada-California border that are expected to supply 550 megawatts of renewable energy, enough to power about 170,000 homes, and support more than 700 jobs through construction and operations.
Today’s approvals bring to 50 the number of utility-scale renewable energy proposals and associated transmission that the Interior Department has approved since 2009, including 27 solar, 11 wind, and 12 geothermal projects. Together, the projects could support more than 20,000 construction and operations jobs and, when built, generate nearly 14,000 megawatts of electricity, or enough to power 4.8 million homes. Thirteen of the projects are already in operation, including the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, a 377-megawatt solar thermal plant that started commercial operations and delivering power to California’s electric grid last week.
“When President Obama first took office in 2009, there were no solar projects approved on public lands, and no process in place to move forward the hundreds of applications pending from businesses that wanted to harness renewable energy to help power our nation,” said Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell. “With today’s milestone of 50 utility-scale renewable energy projects approved on public lands since our standing start in 2009, and with a number of those already producing energy for the nation’s electric grid, our clean energy future is bright.”

mr. dotster miffed at me that I wasn’t paying him enough attention—and left to go in the den. Shall I tell him about the guy I heard today lamenting that he has to disguise himself as a computer so his wife will pay attention to him? :)
YES WE MUST …. keep the pressure on …
As I almost always do, I went home for lunch. I tuned into EuroNews, and the breaking news was that the Ukrainian parliament had voted to pull all special forces out of the square, and to not use live ammunition. Things are going pear shaped for Yanukovych. From what I’ve read, he’s accepted the EU proposal to hold early elections.
Well it can’t happen a moment too soon for Yanukovych. He’s responsible for the deaths and the slaughter and he must be removed and jailed. What he has done to the people in the square is unconscionable. He’s a thug and a murderer, which makes him the ideal puppet for Putin.
Looking forward to seeing FLOTUS tonight on the Tonight Show.
Hi anniebella – that doesn’t show in my part of the world – so please come back with a review of it all :)
Sure will 99ts.
The GOP seem unable to find a truthful person who has been “harmed” by the ACA. Worth reading the comments here – there is one who says it costs more – but he has a high income – and does not expect any sympathy. Any others appear to be the internet trolls who always have the family who were completely screwed – but no details/no proof.
It seems the US is going well with health care – and every dem in the land should be screaming from the rooftops – not mumbling about the bad start.

I saw this earlier today—kinda feel sorry for the guy. He really wanted that Twix. Put a buck in the vending machine and candy bar dropped half way and then got caught on a hook. Put another buck in—-still no luck. Tried pounding and shaking vending machine. No luck. Then!—-he got creative—-and used his forklift to lift and drop the machine!—voila! 3 candy bars dropped. But!—-lost his job and unemployment. Sad. And firing not necessary.
