Chica, did you choose those hands as a hint that I should just get to work? /painful criticism on your part/

Hel-lllooo, SW! So nice to see you. You are a sight for sore eyes.

      • February 23, 2014 at 7:44 am

…and you are a bright and cheery start to the day. :-D Hope your evaluation thingy doesn’t take too long to complete and that it doesn’t stress you out too much.

          TY

Really appreciate your good wishes, SW, but I already know that I’m in for major stress today and tomorrow. I got two and a half done yesterday, and have 19 and a half to go. I’m telling myself that I was so slow because I was familiarizing myself with the criteria for marking each section, but the reality is it was tedious work. You probably know that it is easier to read something that is well written, than not, and in this instance you are asked to give helpful feedback for each section  . For one of those yesterday I was writing more feedback than the entrant had originally written. Heck, their reference letter provided more info than they had shared! Of course, I won’t mention that I hung around longer in the village BEFORE actually starting, then took an early break after I started to go and bake something as an escape.

          • February 23, 2014 at 8:01 am

Well if you’re like me, you will be more focused now that the pressure is on and the deadline allows for no more distractions/procrastination. ;-) Just remember, this too shall pass and you’ll be able to spend guilt-free time in the village when all it is all done. :-D :-D :-D

Yea, I’m like you, more focused under pressure and I’m am definitely thinking that next week this time it’ll be all behind me.

          February 23, 2014 at 8:00 am

You can bet that I’ll be needing taking frequent stress breaks in the village today, under the heading of survival.

Hey TODobots, WAKE UP!!! If I wanted to talk to myself I wouldn’t have taken a stroll into the village. Sleepy heads!

Chips put something in the water; that’s the only explanation that makes sense. I WAS previously a fairly disciplined person……I really was.

Good day, TS! Happy Sunday to you.

I was thinking the same thing myself – I do not know how I am going to be as strong as MightyP when the time comes to pack up our house – I am still shredding – 32 years of accumulated paper! I have been to every place I can think of online & told them to email the statements from now until forever

          • 23 vcprezofan2
            February 23, 2014 at 8:34 am

TS, did you have to mention ‘years of accumulated paper’? I’m not exaggerating when I admit I still have the pay stubs from my FIRST job, not to mention copies of each job evaluation! My favourite explanation why they are still around is that I cannot throw them out without first destroying the private information they contain, social security info, date of birth, yada, yada. Yes I do have a shredder; I just have no time to shred them, okay? ;)

I got rid of the earliest “stuff” when we moved here in c. 1980 – one should ALWAYS move every 10 years. I am now shredding pay slips, power bills, phone bills, tax records from 1980 onwards – sad.

                February 23, 2014 at 9:32 am

‘pay slips, power bills, phone bills, tax records from…’

You have no idea how normal I feel now that I realize that people (okay, women) all over the world hang on to stuff like this for decades! MP’s revelation that *she* had, made me feel a bit better about myself, but you being on the whole other side of the world doing the same definitely validates me. By the way, you omitted papers written from your university days (the ones with good marks of course), not to mention university texts that are beyond outdated! ;)

                  February 23, 2014 at 9:36 am

It’s not a woman’s thing! 80% of what I’m shredding belongs/ed to Mr 99 – he still has books he had in school – magazines he bought in the 1970s – ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ah – I did shred the University papers about 10 years ago when I gave the daughter my old desk – they were all there – I felt very sad shredding the one and only 100% er – I could have hugged that professor forever :)

                  • 27 vcprezofan2
                    February 23, 2014 at 9:41 am

                    magazines ….oh yea!

Did you hug him/her at all, other than mentally? Never got 100% myself, but did get a few A’s, and even way back then, hugging in such circumstances was not politically correct.

      • February 23, 2014 at 7:51 am

It *IS* addictive 99ts. If a person isn’t careful, they can be so involved in the village to the point that other things get neglected. Self-discipline is a necessity.

Hope you are having (had) a good day and a fantastic weekend. :-)

Hi swbluega – I did have a lovely Sunday, thank you for asking – even baked a cake – which worked and tasted good – quite a rarity for me. Hope your day is also enjoyable.

I’m curious, TS. Have you already seen the finals of the Olympics or will you see that on Monday?

            • 32 99ts
              February 23, 2014 at 8:48 am

I don’t watch the olympics vc – but it is LIVE on our TV – they don’t wait to play it the next day – no-one would watch. So whenever it is happening – I could watch it. Do you get it live?

Honestly don’t know it it’s live or not – just finished watching the final period. Son turned it on before leaving for church so couldn’t help getting caught up in it.

I’m somewhat fixated on the Christie “scandal” – but it sure seems to me the senate mixing up the original investigation seems to be a “save Christie” event. When a GOP senator who is mentioned in the emails – is on the committee?? Is he reporting back to Christie – the administration – the Port Authority??

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!

Yo, Theo! You there? (Hi, Nerdy!) I just watched the final quarter of a men’s hockey game! First time to watch an entire quarter! Won’t say anymore. :grin|:

I looked at a tweet on the side bar comparing PBO with RR…..which president: tripled the deficit, raised the debt limit 7 times, raised taxes 11 times: Of course we know, it was Raygun. The more I learn about RR post administration, with truth coming out, the more I am convinced his administration was a Potemkin village, which sadly has had a long lasting detrimental effect on us, lasting to this day. But, it was a giant fraud!

Good morning, Chips and TODville, and happy Sunday. It’s foggy here but will burn off for a 64 degree sunny day.

THANKS to all who voted for me in the pastry round-up. I’m excited to have made it to the finals.
But I must say the way it turned out is a bit odd. Blogs that were at the top of preliminary voting are not in the finals and blogs that were at or near the bottom are “judges picks” and in the finals. It makes it seem like they didn’t like the outcome or maybe I just didn’t read the rules closely. Anyway, I appreciate each and every one of you.

LOOKING FORWARD TO “THE REID REPORT” STARTING 2/24 at 2:00 p.m. (MSNBC)

Joy Reid is subbing for Melissa Harris Perry this morning and they are having a spirited discussion about the need for the $10.10 minimum wage increase. Republican Avik Roy made it seem like the wage increase would mainly be impacting teenagers. Ha! Joy challenged him and corrected him on the spot. I will post the segment as soon as it is available. Joy is a breath of fresh air. She does her homework and she has the facts at her fingertips.

Good morning TODville. I love looking at those strong beautiful hands. We are in good hands!!!

We are in the middle of a big 2 day storm. It is 19 and the wind is blowing so the wind chill is 5. We are expecting 12″ – 24″. I can’t believe I was complaining about no snow. I am planning to do baking today. Hope everyone else has a beautiful day.
