MoooOOOooorning Early Birds – Happy Friday!
I didn’t say that. :) But now that you mentioned it, was that Danny putting his paws on the keyboard for Mom?
 I see you got your solo first today…by whatever means . ;-)
That was pretty fast Chips. GM & A GM to Danny Boy.
GM tnmtngirl. have a wonderful day. (you too Chips) buy the way, I need a 10″ pot, has Danny got any spares?
Danny has about 96 flowerpot spares Roberta, is there any particular color you’d like?
Pretty Terra Cotta will do. See what he has in stock.
Not a problem Roberta, he has dozens of them – will mail it to you.
Thank you. I can hardly wait to see this master piece.
Good morning tnmtngirl. I hope all is well and that you have a good day!
Good Friday Morning Chipsticks, Roberta…TOD Early Birds/Night Owls/Mid-Day Eagles.
One thing I like is that the TOD Village spans the globe. As a result, TODers live in various time zones…
….so I hope everyone will have/is having/has had a FANTASTIC day! :-D
It’s very confusing though swbluega, it’s almost tomorrow for 99ts, it’s almost yesterday for GGail and the westies, and it’s the middle of next week for Amk.
Thanks for acknowledging me a man ahead of times.
Now give me today’s winning Lottery numbers, mister.
000 – 000 – 000
 Okay, I’ve bought my ticket – if I don’t appear tomorrow, I’ll be in the Cayman Islands with Mitt.
So I do all the hard work and mittbot gets to enjoy it? #typical
OTOH, it might just be the god’s way of handingdownretributiontomittbot.
(see how I confused you?)
“…middle of next week for Amk:
Sometimes when people are commenting about what they are doing (like when it seems to me that Bobfr is getting ready to prepare dinner close to midnight) my first thought is WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?!?! But the upside of interacting with everyone more than offsets the confusion of what time it is.
Hey! Its Good Friday morning for me Chipsticks & TOD family!
Not yesterday :-)
GM swbluega. How is your weather down there? Are you all cleaned up for the snow?. We have below zero again, it’s getting disgusting. No increase in warmth until next week. By that time, we will all be going nuts, I say NUTS in this State. :)
It’s in the 20’s here this morning Roberta, but expected to hit the low 70’s this weekend, then dropping again next week.
This roller coaster ride with the whether is almost as bad as the constant freezing snow and ice in the Midwest and Northeast. Very conducive to catching a cold.

Good morning. Yesterday was such an emotional day, I hope the president hugged his daughters last night and rested well knowing that he had, with no help from Congress, changed the lives of untold thousands of young men. I believe this is why Barack Obama wanted to become president–not for the prestige and the glory, but so that he could help real people–young men of color, sick people with no access to health insurance, college kids, small children and women who are discriminated against in their jobs and devalued by society. He is the only president in the modern era who not only develops and comprehends complex national and international policy, but intuitively understands and cares deeply about every single individual in this country who is not rich and privileged. His presidency has been a test of character for Americans–a test that Republicans, TPs, and emos have failed miserably. Bless you all this morning in this center of presidential appreciation and have a great day.
+1. Aren’t we on a roll this am !!!
GM jackie. Also. Too. bt.
TY, jackie. “His presidency has been a test of character for Americans–a test that Republicans, TPs, and emos have failed miserably.”
Perfect. THIS x 1000 or 10,000!
G’morning Jackie. Excellent comment – should be front-paged because it so eloquently captures what most of us here think on a daily basis. :)
Wonderful sentiments that you’ve expressed, Jackie.
We truly are lucky and blessed to live in the age of the Obamas.
Hope you have a great day.
You too, NW. Appreciate all you and Chips do every day to keep us informed and inspired.
GM Jackie…i echo your words so much…
i listened to PBOsspeech along with the moving introduction from Christian….I was so moved by his speech…one of the parts that stood out for me was when he alluded to the fact that although the issues were not resolved….(in my mind…i was thinking Institutional racism) that he was going to move forward and address th fallout of the stats…namely…violence…high unemployment….etc…plaguing blk and latino young men and boys…so while we activists continue to work to repeal stand your ground, voter suppression etc…..he will work on trying to break thru on systemic issues…using…partnerships of gov…community…business
YES WE CAN!
You are so right and I shudder to think what’s going to happen in 2016. For me it isn’t enough to have a Dem in office, we HAVE to have control of the house and senate too, or all PBO’s hard work will be unraveled. We need to work hard, hard, hard for 2014. I am determined to enjoy this time we still have him for president. I don’t think I’ve ever trusted any president as much as I do President Obama. He continues to be extraordinary.
MtGox bitcoin exchange files for bankruptcy.
#LMAO @ #libertarian fuckwits.— (@amk4obama) February 28, 2014
The MtGox bitcoin exchange has filed for bankruptcy protection, reports say.
The application was made in Japan by lawyers acting on behalf of the exchange and comes only days after MtGox went offline.
On Tuesday, the exchange’s boss said he was working hard to find a “solution to our recent issues”.
Before going offline, technical troubles meant it prevented customers transferring digital cash to other exchanges on 7 February.
Details of the bankruptcy are scant but the application for protection has been accepted by a district court in Tokyo, reported AFP. At the court hearing, the company said it had outstanding debts of about 6.5bn yen (£38m).
MtGox’s lawyers are believed to have decided to apply to the court for protection after US regulators filed a subpoena against the company.
US First Lady Michelle Obama is set to appear on cult television comedy Parks and Recreation.
Her White House office confirmed Mrs Obama will guest star in the NBC show’s season six finale.
Mrs Obama’s cameo, in an episode titled Moving Up, will centre on her campaign against child obesity.
“Time to get real about Pawnee’s obesity… @FLOTUS is coming to town for our #ParksandRec season finale Thursday, April 24!,” the show tweeted.
FLOTUS is an acronym for First Lady Of The United States and Pawnee, Indiana is the fictional town where the show takes place – home to public servant Leslie Knope.
The show’s star, Amy Poehler – who plays Knope – joined Mrs Obama’s campaign earlier this month when she appeared at a Let’s Move event in Miami.
Mrs Obama is not the first US politician to appear on the show – US Vice President Joe Biden made a cameo on the show in 2012.
Great to hear, I will have to check out Parks and Recreation.
Morning everyone! Happy Friday:) Chips…you need to do this for Danny. He needs to start upping his game. Used flower pots are NOT what he should be wasting his time finding…besides, they’re too easy to find! THIS is what he needs to be focused on…..TRUFFLES!
MPs in Spain have voted to curb the power of judges to pursue foreign human rights cases, after the governing party argued against “useless disputes”.
The doctrine of universal jurisdiction may now only be applied in certain cases, for example those involving Spanish citizens.
It was once used to pursue Chilean leader Augusto Pinochet.
When a judge sought arrest warrants for former Chinese leaders this month, Beijing made a diplomatic protest.
One opposition MP, Irene Lozano of the small Progress and Democracy Union, accused the governing Popular Party of giving in to Chinese pressure.
Amnesty International and other human rights groups condemned the move as a “step backwards in the fight against impunity for crimes under international law, for justice and human rights”.
Harry Reid Slams The Koch Brothers For Lying To The American People About Obamacare
Also, in his remarks, Reid called the Koch brothers ‘un-American’ and pointed out that they have to lie to create made up horror stories despite the fact that over 4 million people have signed up through the health marketplaces. You would think that if the law was so awful, and that it was negatively effecting millions of people, there would be no need to embellish, mislead or straight out lie about peoples’ stories in political ads. Yet, that seems to be all we get from the GOP and their supporters.
LH, I wish Harry Reid would start a trend among ALL democrats–elected or not–to call the Koch brother un-American and to tar all politicians who follow their orders or accept their money as un-American as well. It’s time to call these traitors out. They have been subverting our democracy for too long now and people have to start standing up en masse to tell them that our states and our government are not for sale.
Awaiting the First Lady’s appearance on the Today Show. In the meantime, I am being assaulted with the quadruple billionaire Repub Gov. candidate’s ads —-Bruce Rauner—–which are airing every 5 minutes around the clock, and I’m almost not kidding. He is trying to buy his way in, he’s another bored multi multi millionaire, and about every week there’s news that he has given his campaign another $2 million. It’s really shameful. Hurry up Michelle!
I’m not a person that will shed a tear easily, like most men I was taught not to cry, be tough I was told. But yesterday I shed more than a tear, I was actually crying as I looked into the eyes of those young boys that gathered around President Obama yesterday to witness him put a down payment on their future. In my eyes this was some street level business, one brother helping out another brother in full view for the entire world to see. Of all the things that President Obama has done in his time in office, what he did yesterday was beyond anything anyone could imagine; he told a room full of black children, I love you.
Beautifully said, Don… I cried too – all the way through it.
I didn’t cry Don, but I tell you I felt such pride listening to our President and looking at those young men standing on that stage. I just hope this is just the start, and that many more can be reached and help to realize that their life matter, and making something of that life is a possibility. Beside nothing is wrong with a man crying.
I, on the other hand, had a big smile on my face — I think for the same reason(s) that others were crying.
It was a joy to see how the President interacted with these young men and to get a sense of the impact he — and other mentors — has already had on their lives. It made me happy to see the people who were there supporting this program. People from all walks of life who seemed enthusiastic and supportive; not just through financial contributions but by active participation as well.
One thing about President Obama. He is able to put aside the pettiness and can find that bit of good in everyone. So to have an O’Reily and a Mike Lee participate in this effort (trying to see this as a positive as PBO seems to be doing) shows his talent for finding that good and getting something positive from it.
So yes, I smiled. :-)
Excellent point sw: One thing about President Obama. He is able to put aside the pettiness and can find that bit of good in everyone.
You nailed it, this is a skill and an art that our President possesses 10 fold. Also, it shows his humility.. that ability to involve everyone- credit everyone for doing the right thing. His humanity never fails to be brilliant.
Don, this is beautifully stated. That’s exactly what he told those children and any young people watching. Our president is a man without peer.
The End of the Pragmatic Governor
Happy Friday TODers.
Good morning Chips!!
Love how Bo and Sunny in unison turned their heads to look at PBO and veep. I love these two men. I am so glad PBO chose Veep Biden.
synchronized swimming. Just like the kenyan and the amtrak rider.
Oh, yesterday. Yesterday folks. I couldn’t wait to come home to hear PBO’s speech to young men of color and people in America. It was so emotional for me. All I have to say is that this is the best president of my life time.
SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS PRESS RELEASE:
Senate Republicans Block Veterans Bill
“I am going to keep fighting. I am proud that we received every Democratic vote and that two Republicans also voted with us. In the coming weeks I will be working hard to secure three additional Republican votes and I think we can do that,” Sanders added.
The legislation was backed by the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America and virtually every other veterans’ and military service organization in the country.
The Ukrainian President is in Moscow…
Maybe Snowden can give him a tour.
As a child care worker, I would really, really love to work for this program.
Hi @BarackObama, if by CHANCE, you read this, I want to let you know that I WANT to work for this program. Importantly, THANK YOU!

Erin Burnett had ankle biter Tavis Smiley on last night to discuss PBO……..
LOL, this is the only time they dredge him and his pal up. Their words are meaningless. Grifters.
When this happens we need to call out these hosts for hiding behind foolish jealous Black people (who do not represent the Black community as a whole) and using them as cover. Just like Chips called out Chris Hayes last night for his bull-chit. We know WHAT they are doing, and it’s so transparently sickening.
I agree 100 percent.
I e-mailed her this morning…..CNN is horrible. Living in Atlanta , I clearly remember the launch of CNN and also the decline…..
I’m trying to remember what Smiley, West, and company have done besides talk, criticize those who make an effort without their unsolicited approval, and pad their bank accounts from their speaking engagements/seminars.
All talk, no action…that’s why they get no respect from the people who matter.
And the media LOVES these useless idiots because they pose no threat to the status quo.
And that’s why an Obama presidency at this point in time is so perfect. We needed someone who presented a threat to the status quo and who could inspire and motivate others to do the same.
Linda so happy I don’t watch Erin Burnett. Mr. Smiley has nothing I want to hear.
They know how to dig these “I Hate Obama” people up who only live to trash Obama.
And why is Tavis Smiley upset? Because he hasn’t been invited to the White House.
G’morning Chips and TOD! :)
G’morning africa, and Happy Friday to you!!! :)

It is awesome, hf… there has been so many firsts with this administration- all completely awesome. There has not been a day gone by that I haven’t felt like this ‘white house’ really does belong to all of us.. the connectedness I feel with my govt/ my president, is something I have never felt before.

As I’ve stated and continue to state, money blindly thrown into a dysfunctional system only makes it MORE dysfunctional. Gotta address the underlying problem FIRST, and then use the money to implement and maintain the improvements/changes.
My takeaway from the First Lady’s appearance on Today—-broken into 2 segments—–FL said they never talk about weight with Malia and Sasha, that they don’t talk about how they look, their emphasis is how they feel. She said that her main concern is if her daughters are happy and safe and are being taught the best values. She and Jenna Bush talked a bit about how “goofy” (my word) it is that more people comment on what she’s wearing or her hairstyle than the substance of what she’s saying, but she knows that always comes with the territory with first ladies, said that if people are looking at her and noticing her that she always tries to stand in front of something important, so that gets absorbed also.
jenna bush, chelsea clinton, abby hunstman, luke russert, and on and on…apparently now “journalist” = spawn of extremely rich and powerful dads.
no toiling away in smaller markets, proving your worth through cultivating sources, breaking big stories, showing good ethics for these “journalists!” it is an easy way for the few billionaires who own all the major media to control the “trickle-down” messaging i suppose…just keep it “in the family” as they say…
Pres Obama will announced $400 million in "new private sector commitments" from Adobe and Prezi to provide software to schools & students.— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) February 28, 2014
Our President is getting things done – improving the lives of ordinary Americans.
God bless our President. HE.IS.AMAZING.AND.AWESOME.AND………..many other things!!!! :) :) :) :) :)
It’s a thing of beauty HF. President Obama (aka the energizer bunny president) is leaving the elephants in the dust. When he said it was going to be a year of action he was not playing. I just watched this weeks terrific West Wing Week. It’s exhausting to see how busy President Obama has been. Then I compared that to Republican Governor Jan Brewer vetoing the repugnant Arizona law that would have essentially legalized discrimination for the LGBT community, the GOP senators blocking the veterans bill and John McCain lusting for another war. smdh vigorously ……..
And I’ll add—-I know Jenna Bush voted for Obama—-think she and her sister are Dems just like their mom, if truth be known. All the segments she does for Today, all her interests are Dem related. And she was so complimentary of the First Lady. She said Michelle also filmed the segment for Parks and Rec while they were in Miami—with Amy Poehler—-said it is hilarious. She again stated how much fun it was to be with the First Lady, how very much she enjoyed it, full of praise for her.
don’t mean to bring cynicism to that, but i do feel this is true: what better way to rehab the bush family name? get the young attractive daughters into high profile media jobs, with of course no accomplishment in the field mind you, to be the leads in making the family seem all nice again. notice one of the younger sons is running for some office in florida, and jeb’s showing up all over the place now.
this family has done such incredible harm to america and the world, and it wasn’t just george w. either, that i will do whatever i can to make sure they can never rape and pillage the earth as they have done for generations. we must never forget and make sure future generations know the history of this horrific family. none of them can be trusted, in my opinion.
You raise an interesting point 4more, but I do think that in the case of Jenna Bush (and her sis), they’re more like their Grandpoppy Bush Sr., who actually seems to genuinely like and respect PBO and the First Family. I do recall the Bush girls writing a letter to Sasha and Malia when PBO was first elected, and I didn’t really see this as a ploy to rehabilitate the Bush name for Jeb or whoever.
I think people are wise enough to separate the two things. You are 100% right about the damage done by Bush 43, and by Jeb in Florida. I don’t think that Jenna Bush being civil /friendly towards FLOTUS will change people’s views on these issues.
This is Ted Cruz…..
Dominion Theology or Dominionism is the idea that Christians should work toward either a nation governed by Christians or one governed by a conservative Christian understanding of biblical law. At least under this name, it exists primarily among Protestants in the United States. It is a form of theocracy and is related to theonomy, though it does not necessarily advocate Mosaic law as the basis of government. Prominent adherents of Dominion Theology are otherwise theologically diverse, including the Calvinist Christian Reconstructionism and the charismatic/Pentecostal Kingdom Now theology and New Apostolic Reformation.
Some elements within the mainstream Christian right have been influenced by Dominion Theology authors. Indeed, some writers have applied the term “Dominionism” more broadly to the mainstream Christian right, implicitly arguing that that movement is founded upon a theology that requires Christians to govern over non-Christians. Mainstream conservatives do not call themselves “Dominionists,” and the usage has sparked considerable controversy.
The media pundits dance around it when discussing Cruz….
Good News!! http://thinkprogress.org/health/2014/02/28/3344211/wic-update-healthy-food/
Good morning, TODville. There is still water pouring from our skies here in NorCal, so YAY!
To be honest, I’m still choked up about PBO’s Brother’s Keeper speech and all the positive response it got from people who have intelligence and compassion and the will to address the issues he so eloquently presented.
I keep hearing his words, …”If I had a son….”
They keep coming up for me because I believe this is his signal to all young boys that he is there for them, that he feels deeply what they know and feel, that the is committed to helping them through their struggle. He made himself vulnerable at that moment in order to share his desire to work with them in a way that requires a true partnership. And all those young men behind him radiated that sense of grace and pride that PBO knows is possible.
I just can’t believe how incredibly fortunate we are to have this great man leading us forward. And to hear and know, time and time again, that we are STRONGER TOGETHER.
Rise and Shine!
@AlyssaRosenberg @igorvolsky Did she tell you that's why she was going there? Or are you just making uninformed assumptions?— (@aspirational12) February 28, 2014
Michelle Obama is the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS). She is not the First Lady of Black women, or women of color or minority women. She can go on whichever show she damn well pleases – and reach a wide variety of audiences. It is extremely rude and presumptuous to decide which shows the First Lady can or should go.
Okay she has clarified her point which was more mocking O’Reilly, and not criticizing FLOTUS for going on his show. :)
I don’t even think either Obama should waste their time with Bill O’Reilly. He or Fox isn’t worth it.
Even though we may see it that way (and sometimes I do), I don’t think they see it as “wasting their time.” The Obamas are very nuanced in their political interactions, and their focus tends to be on the long-term win-win end result rather than the process (unlike the Clintons).
PBO’s Superbowl interview gave O’Reilly a bump in the ratings – but it also meant that more people watched BECAUSE PBO was on. Sure, his message might have fallen on the deaf ears of some die-hard haters, but I think it also reached more people who were open to what he had to say.
Well, we’ll see what happens. :)
