    Good Sunday everyone – wishing everyone a day of peace and family happiness.

    Mr 99 just revived my faith in technology – I was looking for a document from 2001 – when I know we shared a home computer (lucky to afford the one) and he was so good at backing up data. (Still is, he gets very cross about my poor efforts) – 6 hard drive backups later – there he found it – together with all sorts of things back to the mid 1990s – it is a joy to have live in technical support :)

    Good day to everyone in different time zones!

    Yes, it is snowing steadily outside (and will continue for the next 48 hrs with significant ice to top it off);

    given the weather mess – my ONLY logical thing to do is to burrow inside like a squirrel and rehearse my ” sick voice ” to avoid going to work tomorrow followed by confession to the parish priest next sunday;

      Good morning globalcitizenlinda,

      Happy Sunday to you! In spite of the snow, settle in and enjoy your day with a cup of good coffee, and a GREAT book to read.

      By the way, I hear that bad cough from over here; sounds very bad……. : ) You are forgiven my child : )

    March is coming in as a pride of Lions, both weatherwise and politically.

    I fear for Ukraine and it’s people. They have suffered so much over the years in so many ways.

    I’m grateful for Obama, both domestically and internationally. He has a cool head and a deaf ear to those who want immediate action for ratings sakel Yes, I said it, ratings and maybe some street cred as a correspondent. Anyone think that Romney/McCain wouldn’t have already sent a few troops to Ukraine?

    Domestically, he’s given us a very competent Fema. No winter equivalents to Katrina-the people are getting what they need, and if they need more, this guy can multi-task quite well.

    Be careful anyone who has to go out on the roads in this weather. Here we are already getting the freezing rain and expect the snow this afternoon-4 to 6 or even higher.

    Good Sunday Morning TOD ~ hang in there today.. remember who we having running things: President Barack Obama.. who’s not only SANE and Brilliant.. but enhances this brilliance with the back up smarts of Biden, Kerry, Hagel, Powers and Rice. We could be in no better hands.. no matter what Putin does.. no matter what GOP wants. I read that Kerry will be on all the morning shows today- thus we should have clarity on where WE stand.. not pundit hyperbole.

    Storm coming apparently tonight/tomorrow… no matter, as I’m still glad to be in a MD storm and not the bitter -20 of ND right now :)

    Here’s What Is Going To Happen With Ukraine

    By Kevin Drum

    ———————————

    Following up on the previous post, if you do want to fret about Ukraine, I have just the thing for you. I’m going to tell you how this will all unfold:

    1. Vladimir Putin will do something belligerent. (Already done.)
    .
    .
    6. Having written all the “options are limited” thumbsuckers, journalists and columnists will follow McCain’s lead and start declaring that the crisis in Ukraine is the greatest foreign policy test of Obama’s presidency. It will thus supplant Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iran, and North Korea for this honor.

    a few days ago, I wrote here that this is a great time for the democracy movement in Russia to hit the streets in the numbers higher or greater than we saw a few months ago;

    an active democracy movement in Russia would at least mean that a portion of the current russian military mobilization violating Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity would be forced to remain/return home to deal with the domestic upraising

    I am glad to see that a few of them are beginning to speak out;

    yes, these russian protestors will be treated very brutally – that is WHO putin is and has always been

      You know people can be so dam stupid. Let me ask this are we the U.S. on the verge of nuclear war with anyone?

        March 2, 2014 at 9:59 am

        Maybe a President Natasha Mozgovaya would be thinking about starting a nuclear war, but President Barack Obama is not.

      The media have always overhyped problems, making them “the biggest test” of the Obama presidency. This time though, we are witnessing something very very BIG. So for once I may agree that this is the biggest international crisis the president has faced. This is bigger than the Arab spring in many ways.

      HOWEVER, what is driving me NUTS is the tendency of the media to interpret everything in comparison to Reagan. President Obama is supposedly “weak” compared to Reagan who “won” against communism etc. In the 80s communism was collapsing all over the place because it was an UNSUSTAINABLE ideology, both economically and sociologically. Yes there was some maneuvering from the Reagan administration ( economic and financial actions, backing of opposition groups) , but at the root what was happening had been in the works for decades and Reagan just took the credit for it.

      The situation now is very very different. President Obama is facing a Russia that is stronger. And the USA must now take into account the growing economic and military power of China. The world has become more complex and the ability of the USA to control what’s happening has been diminished. Moreover, George W. Bush has made it much worse; President Obama inherited a country with a serious fiscal problem, and a military exhausted after years of war. The United States is now in a weaker position than in the 80s, economically and militarily. So President Obama isn’t “weak” as a man and a statesman; but the geopolitical reality is that the president of the United States in 2014 has more limited options than Reagan had.

      But try to put that in the head of the stupid Villagers, and of many “old school” politicians and establishment figures. Instead of dealing with reality, it’s much less scary for them to blame President Obama and say he is “weak”.

      In fact, President Obama, as a MAN, is very strong. His knowledge of history, his analysis, his calmness, his integrity are admired by the world leaders. I have no doubt that behind the scenes, he’s doing fantastic diplomatic work. With the help of Secretary Kerry who I admire too.

      One thing I know for sure: I wouldn’t want anyone else than Barack Obama in the Oval right now.

    I guess these hand-wringing ninnies don’t know what a Trident sub is? Ole Vladey-Sue Poutin’ sure does. And there an multiples of them out there at all times, lurking with bellies full of total annihilation. This is not a new development!!

    So the Pope is weighing in – I wonder how many US media hacks and Twitter idiots with a platform will now call him “weak” because he’s not advocating war….

    G’day all. Totally irreverent. ♥

    She was standing in the kitchen preparing to boil eggs for breakfast,
    wearing only the ‘T’ shirt that she normally slept in.

    As I walked in almost awake, she turned and said softly,
    ‘You’ve got to make love to me this very moment.’

    My eyes lit up and I thought, ‘I am either still dreaming or
    this is going to be my lucky day.’

    Not wanting to lose the moment, I embraced her and then gave it my all; right there on the kitchen table.

    Afterwards she said, ‘Thanks,’ and returned to the stove, her ‘T’ shirt
    still around her neck.

    A little puzzled, I asked, ‘What was that all about?’

    She explained, ‘The egg timer’s broken.”

    Good Morning my beautiful Chips. Loving hugs to Mom for continued healing. {{{{{{{{{{{{ Love you Mom}}}}}}}}}}}}}}.
    Sweet hello to my grandson, Danny Boy. {{{{{{Be good to mommy, Danny}}}}}}}}},

    A most prayerful and loving greeting to all of my TOD family who are dealing with family situations, medical concerns, and spiritual traveling on the way. We all are with each other during these times; so keep those words of loving compassion in your prayers and meditations. Thank you so much Cindy for your loving prayers and thoughts. They are uplifting to me.

    Please keep me in your prayers for my appointment and dental procedure on Tues. at 8:00AM. Nervous, yes; but peaceful within my spirit. I had to spend many more hours than 3 and a half under the hand(s) of wonderful doctors; so I move forward with asking for wisdom and grace to stand upright during this procedure. Thank you all for lifting me up on Tues., morning. () HZ
