Sen. Harry Reid was forced to switch to no (he was the eighth vote) so that the nomination could be reconsidered.

THIS. Not only that, it’s constitutionally mandated. The guy who planned and executed the Boston Marathon bombing, gets a lawyer. If John Roberts can become Chief Justice then why can’t Debo Adegbile lead the Civil Rights Division? This hate that conservatives have for the NAACP is disgusting. The Democrats who voted ‘NO’ are cowards. When the GOP comes at you with flimsy crap, you fight back. You don’t bare your belly and become a doormat. I share Sen. Reid’s disgust.

Creamer: GOP’s Obamacare-Bashing Soon to Backfire, with No ‘Plan B’

    ———————————

Nearly 6 in 10 uninsured people have been able to find coverage for less than $100 per month — often with government subsidies that make health insurance affordable

Most important, there are more and more examples every day of people whose lives have literally been saved by the Affordable Care Act — people who couldn’t afford check ups who have found they needed life saving procedures after they got ACA coverage; people who couldn’t afford life saving therapies without going bankrupt or would simply would have died without their new health care coverage.

The problem for the GOP is that all the memories of the malfunctioning website and GOP scare tactics are beginning to fade from memory. Turns out there weren’t any “death panels” — and most of the people whose coverage didn’t meet the new standards of the ACA could get better coverage at lower prices.

Following a House Oversight Committee hearing Wednesday in which a star witness again invoked her Fifth Amendment rights, and the Democratic ranking member denounced a “one-sided investigation,” committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) told reporters that his long-running investigation into the IRS may have hit a “dead end.”

57, I wonder what Angela Merkel would have said if she had talked to Paul Ryan on the phone. “Not connected to reality” would have been an understatement. Ryan’s ego has now gotten so big, he’s floating in space in his own bubble, like Sandra Bullock in “Gravity.”

Because the bubble they have created is made from millions of Americans that the GOP has kept stupid and deranged since the 80′s. They can only function like this because millions of Americans believe their Orwellian vision and the U.S. media has been all but dissolved.

Both are paid by the Tax payers, yet the conduct by Issa……this is NOT the 1st time he has done this….cutting off the mic when an elected official is talking.

Those who tweet should ask Bill Maher why he has exempted Issa from one of those his show would try to Flip?

        • 75 sherijr
          March 5, 2014 at 1:46 pm

I wonder if Cummings has recourse.. if Issa can be reprimanded.. or something, he shouldn’t be allowed to walk away from this clean.

          • 76 Nena20409
            March 5, 2014 at 2:01 pm

I am sure that Rep Cummings does…….there are House Rules. Unfortunately, the Majority……in this case, the GOP leadership can run the House as they please. They know darn well that the media We have today will Never accurately report that this Issa Behavior is not the norm. They will refuse to provide and contrast this to historical modern behaviors and they will just be flip about it as He/She said and move on.

In the olden days, fights and gun fights….well threats of gun fights were recorded. But Dems controlled the House for 40 yrs plus and No such mic cutting ever was recorded to have taken place.

High IQ, well educated, but nonetheless, lacks commonsense? You bet for Life experiences are nothing but skewed for Theories are Not living in another’s shoes.

MSNBC’s Phil Griffin lusted after Book smart over substance. It will Never work out as the poor bloke is just not adaptable to Living Daily Life….as is.

I’m not so sure about IQ part. More like privileged and over-educated; beneficiary of nepotism and legacy preferential hires.

A person with high IQ who has been so privileged in life would be creating stuff that benefits humanity and transforms society for the better, not regurgitating garbage talking points on cable TV from corrupt corporate interests.

With very few exceptions (e.g., Rev Al, Joy Ann), the common theme to Griffin’s hires is not IQ, but financial/economic privilege combined with an absence of real-world experiences.

    The First Victim

It is often said, “In war, the first victim is truth.” It applies just as much today and perhaps even more so given the many means technology now provides us to seek and find information. The information is then problematic because it is increasingly difficult to sort truth from lies, distortion from disinformation, half-truths from wholly fabricated falsehoods.

In this case…..Not really. Since Judge Bork(sp) in the 1980s……the GOP has escalated the procedures.

Justice Marshall was an advocate and he was OK’d by the senate in the late 1960s when LBJ nominated him. It is that Dems never go as far as the GOP would. And in this case, since Jan 20th 2009…..it looks like the Senate needs to re-evaluate what it means to just advise and consent…….truly means.

      From the original article:

Reflecting on his own colossal popularity, the pope criticized “ideological interpretations, a certain mythology of Pope Francis. When it is said, for instance, that he leaves the Vatican at night to go feed the tramps on Via Ottaviano. That never even occurred to me.”

“To portray the pope as a kind of superman, a type of star, strikes me as offensive,” he said. “The pope is a man who laughs, weeps, sleeps soundly and has friends like everybody else. A normal person.”

He acknowledged that he has continued his longtime practice of phoning people who write to him with their problems, including an 80-year old widow who lost her son, whom he calls once a month.

      Remarks
by the NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen at the Press Conference held following the meeting of the NATO-Russia Council at NATO HQ, Brussels

      Good evening.

The situation in Ukraine presents serious implications for the security and stability of the Euro-Atlantic area.

And Russia continues to violate Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its own international commitments.

So NATO decided today to take a number of immediate steps.

We have suspended the planning for our first NATO-Russia joint mission. The maritime escort for the U.S. ship Cape Ray, which will neutralise Syria’s chemical weapons. Let me stress, this will not affect the destruction of chemical weapons, but Russia will not be involved in the escort of the US vessel.

We have also decided that no staff-level civilian or military meetings with Russia will take place for now.

We have put the entire range of NATO-Russia cooperation under review. NATO Foreign Ministers will take decisions on this in early April.

These steps send a clear message: Russia’s actions have consequences.

At the same time, we do want to keep the door open for political dialogue. So we are ready to maintain meetings of ambassadors in the NATO-Russia Council, as we have done today.

I have just chaired a frank and important meeting of the NATO-Russia Council to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

The NATO-Russia Council is a forum for discussions on all issues. Where we agree, and where we disagree.

As Chairman of the NATO-Russia Council, it is my duty to uphold the principles on which our relationship is founded.

Those fundamental principles are now at stake. Our joint pledge to observe in good faith our obligations under international law. And our commitment to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other, or any other state.

So I asked the Russian Ambassador to convey NATO’s firm message to Moscow.

At the same time we have decided to intensify our partnership with Ukraine, and strengthen our cooperation to support democratic reforms.

We will step up our engagement with the Ukrainian civilian and military leadership.

We will strengthen our efforts to build the capacity of the Ukrainian military, including with more joint training and exercises.

And we will do more to include Ukraine in our multinational projects to develop capabilities.

This will complement the international efforts to support the people of Ukraine as they shape their future. And tomorrow, I will meet the Prime Minister of Ukraine to make clear NATO’s support.

Not a Grayson fan, but vid appears to back up his side of the confrontation, looks like his wife, who filed for divorce a couple of months ago, was doing all the shoving. Their 18 yr. old daughter also backed him up, saying her mom became irate and was the aggressor. Sounds like nasty divorce stuff, where a lot of outrageous charges and counter-charges often are made.
