Joshua Axelrod: Obama’s 10 Funniest Moments With Galifianakis

It was only a matter of time before Funny or Die’s “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis” landed a high-profile interview subject. No, not small potatoes like Justin Bieber, James Franco or Jennifer Lawrence. They were all just warm-ups for the guest of the century: President Barack Obama, who took a break from running the free world to take on Galifianakis’s hard-hitting and inappropriate interviewer.

For once, it was Galifianakis who couldn’t take the heat. Every barb he threw the president’s way (“What’s it like to be the last black president?”) was returned with a healthy dose of snark from the usually stoic Obama (“What’s it like for this to be the last time you ever talk to a president?”).

TPM: Obama’s Funny-Or-Die Appearance Driving Top Traffic To HealthCare.gov

President Barack Obama’s appearance with actor Zach Galifianakis on FunnyOrDie.com has made the website the top referrer to HealthCare.gov Tuesday, a White House official said. Tara McGuinness, a senior communications adviser who focuses on Obamacare, tweeted the news. The plug was the point of the interview, for which Galifianakis knowingly chided Obama. “Have you heard about HealthCare.gov?” Obama asked after Galifianakis inquired about his online browsing habits.

“Okay, here we go,” the actor lamented. “Let’s get this out of the way. What’d you come here to plug?” “I think it’s fair to say I wouldn’t be here with you if I didn’t have something to plug,” Obama cracked before touting Obamacare and its website. At the end of the video, a link to HealthCare.gov flashes on the screen. The video has been viewed nearly three million times, according to FunnyOrDie.com’s stats.

White House: Twenty Reasons To Get Covered, Twenty Days Left To Enroll

As of today, there are just 20 days left to enroll in health care coverage at healthcare.gov before open enrollment ends on March 31. If don’t already have health insurance, head over to healthcare.gov to get covered now. You can compare your options based on price, benefits, quality and other features, and enroll in a plan that fits your needs and your budget. Six in ten uninsured Americans can get coverage for less than $100 a month. Preventive services like well-woman visits, cancer screenings, flu shots and more cost you nothing out of pocket. Health insurers are prohibited from charging women more than men for the exact same coverage.

It’s illegal for insurance companies to charge more or deny coverage due to a pre-existing condition.Birth control for women is covered with no out-of-pocket costs or co-pays. Insurance companies can’t cancel your coverage when you get sick. All plans must cover essential health benefits including outpatient care, hospital visits, prescriptions, and more. Because accidents happen, and no one is invincible.  You can apply for coverage online at healthcare.gov. on the phone by calling 1-800-318-2596, in person (find local help here) or by mail (download the application to mail in here) — the whole process takes most people about 15 to 20 minutes.

I have now watched the FunnyOrDie POTUS video 3X today.
    Awesome.

NW you have been kicking some arse. Great Job!

    Thanks, NW. Congrats, LL.

    And to this:

    @stephenfhayes

Smart GOPers would spend less time whining about Pres Obama’s willingness to do nontraditional media and more time imitating him.

    I say this:

    “Smart” GOPers?

    Congrats LL on your Gold.

I am now listening to the Jay’s presser today.

So this CIA activity charged by Feinstein happened during GW Bush? So as usual, she goes off and the AndreaM of the DC presenters run with the story and thereby neglecting to talk about the TalkFest at the senate last night. TThe woman should RETIRE, period!

Feinstein alleged that in 2010 the CIA under John Brennan hacked into congress’ computers while they investigated the use of torture. Whether or not her allegations are true remains to be seen, but the media is already acting as though they know all the facts.

So the media has yet another useless nontroversy to focus on – this is IRS, Benghazi, NSA, ACA all over again. Wash, rinse, repeat…

The thing with the documents started in 2010, before Brennan and under Panetta, from what I gather. Brennan has dug down, re-classifying what had been in the computers originally and not making them available.

Nerdy Wonka, thanks so much for this and, especially, the last post. That Between Two Ferns video made my day! I sent it out to family and friends and my cousin said she heard excerpts on NPR this morning.

I’ve seen other Between two Ferns clips and they were o.k., but not hilarious. This was by far the funniest, thanks to our President, who comedians have said could do stand up for a living if he wanted to. I think it was Seth Myers who said that those who do the White House Correspondent’s dinner gig, are a little intimidated to follow him.

We have the absolutely COOLEST President of all time, anywhere!

I was out all day enjoying NYC’s gorgeous weather and came home to TOD. My what a busy day it’s been here, I see!

POTUS with Zach G. demonstrates everything that has Utterly Defeated the GOP/TP. The coolest smartest sexiest man on earth is the President of the United States!!! The charisma oozing from PBO is not likely to be seen again in any country’s leader. What a letdown the next president will be. D or R—no one will come close.

In other news: I saw a tweet saying if the R wins in Florida tonight it will be a significant sign of things to come. On the other hand
If Alex Sink, the democrat wins, it will be an outlier, a fluke, something of no significance whatsoever.

Democrats having to swim upstream fighting the tide. A 2014 big election would help to level the playing field.

Vicki, like you, I’ve been out and about enjoying this fantastically beautiful day, hoping to soak in all the sunshine and just store it in my skin cells. People will do anything to cover up for the R’s. They are never at fault and can do no wrong even as they bring down the country and the economy with every vote. We have to do every thing in our power to make 2014 a Democratic win.

    Over 4.2M now…..and Counting

The Obamacare recovery continued in February, according to new numbers released by the Obama administration Tuesday: 942,000 Americans enrolled in private coverage last month, bringing the total through five months to 4.2 million.

Do you know if it’s for his political efforts or at the State House? Sounds like he’s thinking of making a run in 2016 as some kind of pseudo “moderate.” Gag.

        Cuomo is following Christie’s playbook.
Goal is to drive up the numbers in his re-election.

In Cuomo’s quest for glory he is doing damage.

Heard yesterday he’s trying to put space between himself and deBlasio … not a good idea to me!

I used to like Mario Cuomo (no longer) and Andrew’s no Mario. I’ve tried to cut him a break, but he sounds too angry and fake to me. Probably another politician with the “top my daddy” complex, like Bush and Romney – all we need is that! Not.

I noticed on the video when President Obama didn’t want to laugh, it appeared that he may have clinched his back teeth because a knot came out on the side of his jaw. I’m going to look for this the next I see him talking to one of the wacko Republicans. :)
