          google translate spits out this:

“Michel shoulder muscles like men. Heh Barack Obama
Cool, heh laugh, but look bad. President Barack Obama?”

makes about as much sense as a republican.

LOL! She has “barack” and PBO’s smiling pic in her avatar, so I guess she’s a supporter across the friendly oceans.

A cold wave has blasted into our area with single digit temperatures and wind chill taking us to 1 degree. Winds are super high with an alert telling us to expect wind damage. I think it’s winter sticking it’s tongue at us saying, “nyah, nyah, you thought I’d gone away. I’ll show you.” I have a mission today that no weather is going to defeat–have got to find birthday presents for a whole list of assorted family members, all of whom have birthdays clustered in March and April. Will be back later. Have a great day, everyone and keep safe.

Make up your own minds what this even means. No wonder WV is screwed. Morning everyone.

“I probably have supported George Bush more than I have Barack Obama. Am I going to switch parties because of that? No. I’m a Democrat, born a Democrat, am a Democrat and will die a Democrat.”

df, I will tell you what it sound like too me.To me it says his district is white racists red necks who don’t like the black President. And he is like his district.

      • March 13, 2014 at 9:39 am

GM Annie..Not making any more excuses for these kind of comments from folks who represent red states….if you make these comments you OWN them…will not try to figure out what is in your heart…it is what comes out of your mouth and what policy you advocate that says it all to me…

        March 13, 2014 at 9:55 am

I could be wrong, but I don’t think so..

    • March 13, 2014 at 9:35 am

I have grown weary of the so called legislators who think that to make these kind of suspect comments is ok or justified in some kind of way…he is from a state in which an unregulated chemical company spilled unknown chemicals into the state’s drinking water…instead of making suspect comments about the President…maybe he should be focused on that…

      • 51 anniebella
        March 13, 2014 at 10:17 am

Well prettyfoot58, he wanted to tell people that he is a Democrat who have supported George Bush a Republican more then he have Barack Obama a Democrat. Why, is he up for re-election and he wanted to let his racists base know how he feel. Democrats can be racists too, specially the older ones who was raised a certain way.

Karl Rove seems worried that some Republicans might be celebrating prematurely after the party’s triumph in Tuesday’s special congressional election in Florida.

“Don’t uncork the champagne,” Rove cautioned his fellow Republicans in a Wall Street Journal column published online late Wednesday.

Celebrate what. Winning in a district were you have held for 30 years. Just barely winning. What Republicans would have to celebrate if they went into a Democratic district and won. But I guess the Republicans have to make themselves feel good, so they will jump for joy over just barely winning in a area were Republicans have carried for years. Look at it like this the Congressman who Jolly is replacing won by 12% and 14%, but Jolly 2%.

Scenes like this will be common all across America if we don’t start spending to fix our infrastructure!

    http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/The_United_States_Of_Rubble

They’re still clearing away the debris along Park Avenue in Harlem. A natural gas explosion already has taken six lives officially, and there likely will be more victims to be found. People said they saw pianos flying through the air. And then, of course, there’s this:

Less than two weeks before two East Harlem buildings exploded leaving at least six dead, Consolidated Edison workers checked the 127-year-old gas main in front of the site and found no apparent leaks, according to a ConEd spokesman.

    A 127-year old pipe.

This might have been a bridge in Indiana, or a levee in Mississippi, or a potholed highway on the Kansas plains. Instead, it was a cast-iron pipe that was laid down in the first Cleveland administration. The country is falling apart. Everybody knows it. (Yesterday, on my usual morning walk along the Charles, I crossed a footbridge over the river and stepped over what appeared to be a fault line in the middle of the span. You could see the geese swimming by below. And the Commonwealth — God save it! — is one of the states that takes this sort of seriously.) In 1984, when he ran for president, Gary Hart, American Cassandra that he is, warned the country about its crumbling infrastructure. He pounded the theme so relentlessly that people mocked him for it. But he was right, and the problem is worse now than it was.

The country needs some combination of the WPA and the space program to put itself back together again. Real unemployment is stubbornly in the low double digits. Meanwhile, bridges fall into rivers, and sinkholes devour houses, and 127-year old gas pipes explode and kil people. And yet we’re too lazy, or too goddamn cheap, to tax ourselves to rebuild what everybody with eyes knows needs to be rebuilt.

Some time ago I had promised Chips that I wouldn’t use the “N-word” and I’m going to keep my promise because a lot of people are truly offended by that word. Yesterday Paul Ryan called every black male that I’ve ever known, lazy. Paul Ryan, a man that could have easily been the Vice President of the United States of American. The fact that he thought it was safe enough for him to utter such hurtful and demeaning language is a testament to the poisonous environment which President Obama must navigate on a daily basis. How do I let what Paul Ryan said about me roll off of my back? How do I get over the fact that the fifty-million people that voted for him to be Vice President more than likely don’t have a problem with him saying what he said? I remember a long time ago listening to Dick Gregory make the statement that the reason that black men used to walk around with boom boxes on their shoulders blasting music is so that they could drown out all the negative stereotypes that were said about them. I work in a federal prison; I’m surrounded by people that are deemed too dangerous to live in society. I like my job, I like what I do for a living, I’m paid well and I’m grateful. But now I have an anger that I don’t know what to do with. Back in my youth I would not have had this anger because I would not have let it get bottled up, I would have released it somehow or someway. But now that I’m older and wiser it gets harder and harder to deal with the disrespect that gets directed at black men like me.

i hear ya. perhaps take the frustration out by campaigning like never before for the midterms later this year, ideally with o.f.a. if we do well this fall and get our president a decent congress to work with, 2014-2016 will create a renaissance in america that hasn’t been seen in many decades which will help the entire world.

GM all. And Don, great comment. And the fact that some people say what he said does not have racist undertiones, screw them. Well, maybe they were right. There are no racist undertones to what Ryan said. They are all up front and center tones.

It may help to think of how PBO handles this; he loves and works even harder ever keeping before him what his true purpose is. All of the hate is to derail him and all people of worth who are fighting the good fight. His and your very life gives the lie to what the haters say. Hang in there, my brother.

Following in the footsteps of other “religious freedom” bills before it, the Mississippi version of the legislation was effectively neutered Wednesday.

The Jackson Clarion-Ledger reported the state House voted to form a study committee on the issue rather than approve the Senate-passed bill. The bill is now punted back to the Senate, which can either reject it, agree to it or propose negotiations. The committee’s findings would be due at the end of the year.

As we here at TOD have been saying loudly and clearly.
Obamacare is a GREAT Program. Miliions of Americans will be getting the healthcare they need and the financial security that health insurance offers.

If you are a Democrat, you are supporting the ACA wholeheartedly.
If you are a DINO perhaps waiting for Hillary in 2016 you mutter about fixing the ACA as though it is a troubled issue you’ve been saddled with.

      Yes, I am angry.

    Pro corporate, activist judges. http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2014/03/13/3398661/supreme-court-ruled-in-favor-of-the-nations-top-corporate-interest-group-in-7-of-8-cases-this-term/

And Don…great comment. I agree that to get that anger/pain/hurt out of your system, you work hard and channel that energy to something positive…like 2014 elections and the ones after that, and the ones after that…. I’ve said for a long time that I guess the people that still feel this way, like Ryan does, just need to die off. Hate to be so cold about it, but the chain of racism needs to break. Young people don’t think like this for the most part…..there is no room in our country for this ignorance. None of us should rest until it’s gone, no matter what color we are.
