President Obama arrives at Bozar concert hall before giving a speech in Brussels, March 26
Will have a round-up of the President’s day a little later, so if you missed anything – like me – panic not!
CONGRATULATIONS!! You go dude!
Last time, almost – this time, you are 1st!
Never, never, never give up!
Now go and celebrate with the Happy Dance……
Au for Don.
Best. President. Ever.
POTUS looks marvelous in Blue suits.
Great Tweet Summary by the one and ONLY NW.
The problem with the press is that they were so dumbed down from covering Bush that they forgot how to listen. Their ears are tuned to buzz words so they can get a “reaction” and they have no intention of paying attention so they lack understanding. They are lazy. They have a predetermined narrative and script that they just plug their in catch phrases and and then run-off at the mouth assuming that what they have to say is more relevant. They are rapidly making themselves obsolete. That is why they keep propping up Putin, because they want to cling to the old norms of bullying because. It is simpler to just retread the same tired norms rather than stepping boldly into a new era of governing.
I’m so damn proud of our president.
The other side of the press Paulita, is that they are convinced that the American people do not support President Obama; therefore, we don’t care about what they are saying.
I hope that we will continue to call them out on their lies at every opportunity because the MSM has been directly involved in sabotaging the President’s work; in their efforts to push the repukes agenda, and make this President look weak.
We the people elected and re-elected Barack Obama in spite of everything the haters threw at us. The press as we know it is rapidly becoming irrelevant. After all, what happens to darkness when just a little light shines on it?
Heading into a weight loss class – hope they don’t toss me out for being too thin!! But I’m interesttes in the topics and they are offering smoothed and 10 minutes shoulder massage after. Incant resist! :)
WOW! Col. Larry Wilkerson did not pull his punches on Joy’s show saying explicitly that people under the Bush admin. committed war crimes and need to be indicted! Is there something in the air?
Paulita, starting with Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and G.W. Bush.!!!!!!!!!!
Hi AnnieB! The first time I ever felt compelled to call a talk radio station was during the fiasco at Abu Ghraib to tell them that Rumsfeld needed to be fired asap!
Yes Paulita, it was shameful what happen under that train monkey Rumsfeld.
Don’t think anything is “in the air.” Col. Wilkerson has always said these things about the Bush/Cheney administration. Always. He never minces words. His anger and frustration and embarrassment always comes out when he’s discussing that gang.
I think that stems from guilt from Colin Powell’s role in the run up to the Iraq War. He’s trying to make up for that by blasting out truths ever since.
Can hardly wait for a video of PBOs speech. Thanks to Nerdy Wonka for all the tweets
I wanted to let everyone know what our local OFA team is doing today to help with ACA.
OFA has partnered with Enroll America and today we are having a phone bank at my house to make calls to the uninsured from the Enroll America database. Today it is calls to Covina in SoCal. This is such a great idea. I am really proud of the way OFA is reaching out to partners to amplify our effectiveness.
Earlier this week we had a tabling event at the local Hispanic Grocery. So many folks were taking our flyers and thanking us for the information. This is a wonderful way to do grassroots organizing.
If you have not linked up to a local OFA please go to this page and type in your zip code to find an event near you.
Here’s the link to the CSPAN video, Linda http://www.c-span.org/video/?318510-1/president-obama-useu-relations
And, thank you for your tireless organizing and DOING!!!
Thanks for posting this link; I had missed Laura’s introduction and the crowd’s reaction.
Bob, thank you for this link. FINALLY got to experience the whole speech, which was breathtakingly awesome. I wish every student in the US from high school on could listen to this speech and discuss it. I wish our media would actually pay attention to what was said, rather than build their fantasy world with their fantasy president. Our president spoke real truth to the young people of Europe and called them to something higher than their own interests. People around the world–particularly in the apathetic US where most can’t even bother to vote– need to wake up, learn about the wider world and stop being complacent about their lives and rights.
Thanks for the link, Bobfr. From the glowing introduction to President Obama’s finish, this was such a strong, visionary speech!
THANK YOU SO MUCH Bobfr FOR THE BRUSSELS VIDEO HOOK-UP…I HAD MISSED THE SPEECH…THERE IS ONLY ONE WORD NEEDED TO DESCRIBE PBO’S SPEECH…’PRICELESS’!!!!!
Just love technology.
Bob, I just wanted to add my voice in thanking you for posting the C-span link to President Obama’s speech. As always, the President was magnificent!
Love hearing this, WIW!! We’re doing our bit here in Portland, OR also to get the word out on enrollment fairs and calling folks to amplify the message and write letters to the editor with compelling testimony of how the ACA is helping them.
.@OFA_OR Getting the word out it's #TimeToEnrollNow. Next: 3/27 enrollment fair 2-5 at 426 SW Stark Oldtown Portland http://t.co/IBHzTY8PNQ— Judith Fardig (@FardigJudith) March 25, 2014
Just love it when we all work together. Just got a call from SEUI representing Home Health Care Workers. They are having a sign up event in our community Saturday and we are making calls to help them also.
I hope we can keep up this teamwork into the election.
I remember when the press declared that the OFA had disbanded. Shows what the f&ck they know.
Oh and some of the emos at DKos greeted that news with glee

Hate will blind the hearts and souls of evil doers. May they be prepared to answer to a higher calling for their ugly and hateful misdeeds towards humanity. May they receive mercy upon their souls when they face their day of reckoning.
Remember that the next time someone says there’s no difference between Repubs and Democrats

The hardest working President in my life time.
Blessings Mr. President, and thank you for your tireless efforts; in making the world a better place for all, and your endless sacrifices.
God bless you President Barack Obama!
I’m so proud of you

Hey, LL, I was at the doctor today and a lovely woman and who I thought was her son (it was her grandson – she was ever so flattered), about 10, 11 years old, was – wait for it – reading a book! It was had stories about science, history, archaeology. He was reading about the theories of the Big Bang and Grandma interacted with him so beautifully, making it clear that it wasn’t just what he understood about the subject but his ability to explain and communicate it to her.
When she went in to see the doctor, he continued to read his book, and God help me, it struck me as unusual. Kids his age never get their noses up from their damned cell phones or tablet screens. I had such a nice talk with both of them. It gave me hope for the next generation.
Remarks by President Barroso following the EU-US Summit
“First of all, President Obama, it’s great to have you here in Brussels, the capital of Europe, in the headquarters of the European institutions.
Your visit sends a very strong signal. First of all to the European citizens, in the sense of how important this transatlantic relationship is for Europe and for the United States of America; to the American people – and I would like to say to the American people that you can count on us as your best friends and allies; and also to the rest of the world. We remain committed and open. We are decided to engage in all global issues, from free trade to achieving the millennium development goals and to climate action. But at the same time we will also be firm in defending our common values: values of peace, freedom, of the rights of the individual, the rule of law, of international law.
The European Union and the United States are working together to make sure that actions that are unacceptable will bear serious consequences. And in fact we can say that it is in this spirit that we have not only been working on issues like Iran or the Middle East peace process, but most recently on the crisis of Ukraine. We have discussed this again today, we are determined not only to safeguard and to support the independence, the prosperity of that country, but also to show that some kind of unacceptable behaviour cannot continue.
We also discussed – linked to this aspect, but not only linked to this issue – the importance of energy, of energy security, at ministerial level. Our teams are going to meet already next week to discuss some issues in terms of energy cooperation between Europe and the United States.
A very concrete, probably the most concrete example of the deepening of our relationship, is precisely the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, not only because it is the agreement that we are preparing for the most important economic relationship in the world. Every day, there is trade of 2.2 billion euros between the two sides of the Atlantic. It is not just because of the huge dimension of this agreement, but because it will be an agreement among equals. Not only are our economies equal in size, but our societies are equal in values. And I believe that to both our economies a new impulse of this Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, will be very important to give a decisive injection of dynamism. And indeed even increase the potential for growth, not only for big business, but also for small and medium-sized businesses, for every household there are great potentials in terms of job creation on both sides of the Atlantic, if we do it right. And today we have confirmed that we are determined at the highest level to make it happen and to make it a success, not only for us, but also for the global economy.
Thank you Bob!

I’ve been thinking that as well for quite awhile now.
At least in the epilogue, the insanity had lasted a short while. One can hope…….
Oh Good Lawdy! I’ve been typing away on the other post!!!
 (VWolfC’s twin)
I was shocked and dumbfounded when I got to the bottom and saw “New Post”. Then when I clicked over and saw 32 Comments – I was mortified that I had been left behind!!! LOL!!!!
It’s getting harder and harder to play while at work!!! :D
You can’t make this up.
They also have to get fat like him… Oh wait | North Korean men must get Kim Jong Un’s haircut nydn.us/QghoQY— Liberal Librarian (@Lib_Librarian) March 26, 2014
Thank God I don’t live in N.Korea
For now GGail,
If repukes have their way, we will all be shipped out, sent back and women; well, God only knows what they will try to do with us and to us.
Some of them are no different than that little man Kim, and if they could do some crazy stuff and get away with it, they would.
Cindy – they can only have their way – if we don’t exercise our RIGHT to vote. I’ve been voting since I got my first Voter’s Registration. It was a highlight for me along with my drivers license, my library card, my HS diploma, my college degree. Those milestones of adulthood.
That is what I fear so often GGail, so many are not caring about their RIGHTS to vote. Every time I hear someone say; my “little vote” will not change anything, I want to scream, and I have SCREAMED at those I knew.
They are counting on the DEMS to not show up in November, and I pray that we will show up in masses, just as we did when President Obama was on the ballot. This is too critical for anyone to take lightly.
That’s why I joined the OFA. Together, we call and encourage people that their One Vote does matter.
Are you involved with a local OFA team Cindy? You would be a GREAT asset!
No, I didn’t do it because of my teaching/tutorial schedule. I knew I couldn’t make a full commitment. However, I am thinking about joining for the upcoming November election. I know that we have to do lots of work over the summer. I don’t just want to vote and get mad because others do not. I want to get out there and make a “real difference” instead of talking about it.
Oh Cindy, you would bring so much to a team! You don’t have to participate in every event and you can even make phone calls from home. It’s more flexible than you imagine.
Go for it girl!
You know what, I didn’t think about it this way. I will!
I LOL’d at this thought…

Ground Control to Kim Jong Un?
C R A Z Y .
my child just came home from middle school and let me know a student shot and killed himself yesterday in his home. tragic. just tragic
Unbelievable! So sorry for your son and his classmates.
it is so senseless NCLB, my heart hurts for the parents. Not sure of the circumstances but I can’t help to see a direct connection to having affordable healthcare. not sure if this is a result of mental health issues, depression or just bullying…. so so sad for the parents.
I also see a connection to having an unsecure gun at home. My heart aches for the parents.
So sorry to hear this nospin.
Please give your child a BIG hug, our babies are faced with so much tragedy, day in and day out.
I will pray for that young man’s family; as they will need much comfort in their time of bereavement, and I am sure they are trying to make sense of it all.
He was only 13 Cindy. What a world we live in. I wish I could DO something….
How sad, he was still a baby. This is another heartbreaking story about guns. In times like this nospin, all you can do is pray for them, and be a shoulder (if you can) for comfort. It’s just heartbreaking.
This is the age group that I teach, and I could tell you some stories that would break your heart; the stuff these kids are dealing with is absolutely mind boggling to me. They are kids walking around with adult problems.
Horrible news. I also hope all the students find the support they need.
Oh my God……..
Horrible! How can the “pro-lifers” not see that gun violence is a largely preventable tragedy?
Good Gracious Lord, Have Mercy.
I am so very dishearten for what your child and the school are going through.
Japan is a nation known for some folks taking their own lives. Unfortunately here in US, there is no discussion publicly to have a serious debate about guns and a nominee for the Surgeon General is being thwarted for our continued dumbing down of this Once Great Nation.

I want his secret for; energy, and always looking good and fresh. I go out for a walk and need 1/2 the day to recover. What is he eating?
Broccoli and french fries.
Oh, yes, and PIE.
The fries and pie is why I am doing 6 miles a day this week, so it will not work for me : (
I must start eating the two of them. Can I melt some cheese on my broccoli? Or would the cheese reduce my energy level?
Being so deeply loved.
That is it Judith! Now I am going to lose the weight and find me a “good husband” and live happily ever after. Hopefully it will work the 2nd time around : )
I know right? he’s always on the move, always working. Sometimes I feel he gets more done in a day than I do in months lol
POTUS is going to meet the Pope. Rush Limbaugh is going to explode. Oh well, who gives a dam?
Is it just me, I don’t remembering any other President actually working as hard as President Barack Obama.
Anna, he is the hardest working President, I believe ever. I don’t remember Bill Clinton, Bush or any others during my time, working like this.
I’ve heard that Roosevelt worked just as hard but that was before me, and he was there for 12 years, so I am not sure if it’s fair to compare the two.
It’s not just you Anna. There’s going to be a serious letdown after 2017 and I’m bracing myself!
Will we lose PBO and our group here too? It will really be hard.
I hope not! :)
no, not just you Anna. That is why there is such a concerted effort to characterize our POTUS as lazy always playing golf, basketball or taking vacations. Trouble is…like him or not, it is apparent just how hard our POTUS works on multiple complex issues all the time. Sort of makes the previous Presidents seem just a bit slow on getting things done.
In my humble opinion, most of the U.S. media hate President Obama because he is way smarter and possesses more integrity than most of the previous presidents. Fortunately, the U.S. media no longer have a monopoly on the dissemination of news. I just love how all of the TOD twitter warriors push back on U.S. media BS!
Anna didn’t G,W. Bush work just as hard?
Just as hard to mess things up, and he did a outstanding job too.
Chips (I think it was Chips) predicted that there would be very little coverage of The President’s overseas trip today.
Alex Wagner didn’t even mention it.
The American people are seriously underserved by the country’s Media.
Maybe tommorrow with The Pope will get some attention.
Well, I’ve just made a purchase on the new OFA store. Hope to bring them luck for many, many more.
Too bad our so called press doesn’t relay that to the people. I remember Bush being in the news every single day and having done absolutely nothing. How many times did we see him on vacation “clearing brush” on his ranch in Crawford, TX. Our President is so hard-working and gets zero credit.
Yes Jackie 4 Obama!
He was always featured on his vacation, always.
The media is all a part of the repukes suppression antics.
Growing up, there was an old saying that I hated, and still find distasteful today; if you want to keep something from the Negroes, put it in a book. The joke was that the negroes would never read a book.
Today’s version; keep the “people” ignorant and you will rule them. This is exactly what the repukes are trying to succeed at.
For those of us that missed it. Here is President Obama’s speech in Brussels today.
Thank you donna, I’m about to listen to it right now.
tyty…I was not able to watch it at work…
I am filled with so much emotion….
LIVE NOW: President Obama arrives at the Residence of the US Ambassador in Italy – http://video.sky.it/news/diretta
Thank you JER!
I need to vent and it may be all over the place. I’ve read two stories on Facebook today that show nothing but hatred and judging and fear…both stories involving children. I heard a caller (from TN) on Ed’s show earlier (about the ACA) and it exposed hate and more hate for PO and the ACA. Then to cap this off, I made three calls to Nashville–Governor’s office and my state rep and state senator. All three offices the person answering the phone was rude and kept trying to interrupt and cut me off. The rep’s office, the woman was EXTREMELY rude. I looked up the bill number I called about and called her back and she was even more rude…..saying she had received at least 200 phone calls today so she was sorry she didn’t know whom she was speaking to. It had only been 4-5 minutes since we talked. When she realized who I was, she did grudgingly thank me for finding the bill number and calling back.
Someone here mentioned earlier about so much negativity……how there’s so much of it…….so much hate and fear and obstruction and complaining and whining and on and on and on. I am just so tired of all that! Feeling really “down” and frustrated right now. But so very thankful for this osasis and for our wonderful President.

NSA reform proposals fail to fully protect privacy – More from @msnbc.com: on.msnbc.com/1jIUQkd #reiders— The Reid Report (@TheReidReport) March 26, 2014
I’m not sure I understand this – the President hasn’t even announced his proposals yet they’re being criticized as not enough? Is Joy Ann now going “emoprog” to gain MSNBC cred? WTF?!?!?
I don’t watch this stuff but I saw earlier in my TL people grumbling that she’s become a corporate shill. Hard to believe but whatever.
@TheReidReport @msnbc Do you have a link to the specific proposal source documents or this more conjecture?— meta (@metaquest) March 26, 2014
yes, we’ll have to see. i don’t mind people suggesting the surveillance state needs some reforms, as long as it isn’t framed as if president obama wants to spy on citizens or some such nonsense, and there hasn’t been decades-long build-up of the system which one president can’t completely fix all by himself, which is all any other major media types and “progressive” enablers have done. hopefully joy won’t fall into that anti-obama framing around this issue.
Noah Smith has the definitive piece on what’s wrong, so far, with the new FiveThirtyEight. For all the big talk about data-driven analysis, what it actually delivers is sloppy and casual opining with a bit of data used, as the old saying goes, the way a drunkard uses a lamppost — for support, not illumination. Smith:
In sum, this so-called “data-driven” website is significantly less data-driven (and less sophisticated) than Business Insider or Bloomberg View or The Atlantic. It consists nearly entirely of hedgehoggy posts supporting simplistic theories with sparse data and zero statistical analysis, making no quantitative predictions whatsoever. It has no relationship whatsoever to the sophisticated analysis of rich data sets for which Nate Silver himself has become famous.
The problem with the new FiveThirtyEight is not one of data vs. theory. It is one of “data” the buzzword vs. data the actual thing.
