Simple.Stirring.Beautiful.Amazing.Moving.Poem. Says so much. I felt it.

I’ve been having a really negative day for no good reason ~ I took a deep breath and my whole body sat up straighter when I read that, LL.

Thanks for skipping down the road for a virtual visit, right when I needed ya! #LifeIsDefinitelyAllAboutMeAsUsual

Is this in a GOP politician’s district – one who doesn’t support infrastructure repairs? [Yea, I can tell it looks like a bridge on someone's property. Luckily apart from cuts and bruises no one was seriously hurt.]

I love the expression on the young lady’s face after shaking hands with PBO (holding her own hand in disbelief) Priceless!!! :)

Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family.

I just have to take a moment to say how much I enjoy the face of that young man with his “OMG” look. Now you’ve got “I’ll never wash my hand”.

I wonder how many fainted :-)

Chipsticks, thanks for the smiles on this horribly busy Monday!!!

VC, you were hilarious on the last thread – your comments were all over the place – you had me cracking up!

Sigh. Some friend you are, laughing at the clear, and public, signs I’m losing it. Wonder if it’s too late to ask for a ‘refund’ on the latest birthday? Maybe a redo might give me time to straighten my mind out.

Hahahaha – you know it was funny too! You had poor amk asking WHO were you talking to – LOL!

Yeah, I don’t know what you had for your morning beverage – but it was a doozy!

Jessie Jackson Jr. has been transferred from North Carolina to Alabama and put in solitary confinement for informing other inmates of their Civil Rights while in prison.

    • 27 vcprezofan2
      April 7, 2014 at 1:43 pm

I didn’t know there was a law against informing inmates of their civil rights!

        April 7, 2014 at 6:48 pm

There isn’t one. He’s a lawyer. Prison guard likely just wanted to “assert his authoritay” to
        be a royal jerk.

          As I suspected.
As I’ve aged it’s been interesting to see how different people (outside of politics) wield their power. Sadly, it’s often been the ones lowest on the totem pole who get carried away the most. Not always, but often.

      April 7, 2014 at 2:12 pm

I want to know why Jesse Jackson Jr. got 2.5 years for actually stealing and misusing his power and Blagojevich got 14 years for mentioning quid pro quo. Not defending Blago but Jackson was truly a crook.

However, informing inmates of their rights should not be reason for solitary confinement.

      April 7, 2014 at 2:14 pm

Wasn’t he transferred to a minimum security prison since his ‘bi polar disorder’ is no longer considered a substantial problem?

That’s what I’ve been hearing on local TV in Chicago.

    • 32 dotster3
      April 7, 2014 at 2:15 pm

No—-he was put in solitary for 5 days at his former prison in N.C. because a guard “took exception” to Jackson informing other inmates of their rights. He was cleared of any wrongdoing in some kind of hearing and then was granted a transfer to a minimum security facility in Al., his original first choice——which also has a medical facility to treat his issues—–it’s on a military base. Expected to be released before his release date in 2015—–by the end of this year.

        Good Afternoon TODVille,

I was lurking briefly but can’t help saying “What a shame!” after reading the accounts of Jesse Jackson Jr..

        Yikes, I apologize…..

        Shame on me.1

oh—-no problem—-I do that all the time—-I was “so informed” on this subject because I had just read the articles in Chgo news. Timely.

Bringing this over. Last entry on last thread. Don’t want you all to miss it.

VW considering tossing the UAW elections results and allowing the UAW in. *************Just found the story in my local paper. Here’s the link. It doesn’t even sound like they want another election……just going to let the UAW come in.

    http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2014/apr/07/vw-considering-tossing-election-results-and-accept/

If this is true…..if it happens, get ready for a total and complete MELTDOWN from the right, especially our governor and Sen. Corker. Oh my!!!!!!!!!!

  11. April 7, 2014 at 1:38 pm

Fun fact: the first time I met POTUS and shook his hand, I purposely held my hand up in the air when showering so that it wouldn’t get wet.

Hey, Chips, I bet you have enough never-washing-hand (or just plain hands reaching) pics for a post on their own? I vividly remember a little girl on her daddy’s shoulder reacting similarly years ago. (For all I know this might be a grown up her getting a 2nd hand shake – they grow so fast).

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Ted Kennedy Jr. is planning to run for the state Senate in Connecticut in his first bid for public office, two people briefed on the decision told The Associated Press on Monday.

The son of the late U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts will announce Tuesday he intends to seek the Democratic nomination for the 12th Senatorial District, two people said on condition of anonymity becauseKennedy wants to make the announcement. Kennedy said he would announce his decision that evening at a library in Branford.

Kennedy is 52-year-old health care lawyer who lives in Branford, a coastal town near New Haven, and has been mentioned as a possible political candidate for some time. He said last month he was considering running for the seat.

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/poll-mary-landrieu-leads-cassidy-runoff

A new poll from Magellan Strategies finds Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) leading the field in her fight to win re-election.

But Landrieu falls short of the 50 percent support she would need to avoid a runoff in the race. The Magellan Strategies survey found Landrieu gains a plurality of the support in the field with 39.3 percent of the 600 voters surveyed, according to The Hill.

Meanwhile, Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), the lead Republican candidate in the race, gets 26.3 percent. The other two candidates in the race, Republican Paul Hollis and tea party favorite Rob Maness (R) both only get 3 percent support each.

As much as these Blue Dog Dems upset me at times, my pragmatic side always wishes for their re-elections, be they Landrieu, Kay Hagan, even Blanche Lincoln (who lost after the amplified counter attacks by X-tra liberal groups and GOP), etc. I wish Miss Mary Landrieu much luck.

Alert that nobody cares about regarding what’s happening on CNN since nobody watches CNN: They’ve swung over, mid-afternoon, from coverage of the missing plane to coverage of a model-socialite, Bob Geldof’s daughter and friend of Paris Hilton, found dead. Sorry about the latter loss.

I don’t linger, but I’m fascinated by how far CNN has its collective head up its collective ass.

These pictures are beautiful! This picture represents what scares the Rethugs to death: The Obama generation….the progressive generation. Many of these young people will be eligible to vote this fall, and ALL of them will be eligible in 2016. I’m sure this gives shivers to the establishment Rethugs. GOOD!!!! We Democrats will embrace them. This is a great generation becoming adults…..I LOVE them, and feel fortunate to still be teaching them.

Residents Chase Westboro Baptist Church Protesters From Oklahoma Town

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church on Sunday staged a protest at Central Junior High School in Moore, Okla., KFOR-TV reported.

The anti-gay group notorious for protesting military funerals wrote on its website that it would protest Moore because the massive tornado that devastated the town last year was “God’s wrath” against “phony ‘Christians.'”

The residents of Moore lined up across the street from the Westboro picketers in a counter-protest.

Hey Chips and fellow TOD’ers! Just wanted to pass along that while in my car this afternoon I was listening to the very end of a show on “POTUS” channel 124 Sirius XM and Christine PELOSI was the guest. The host asked her to name 3 of the best blogs she follows. Cannot remember the first two, Burt her third recommendation was THE OBAMA DIARY! She said it is a great chronicling of the Obama years! I screamed out loud and almost hit the median I was so excited to hear her give the shout out! TOD is known out there in a big way! :)
