Obamas pay $98,169 in taxes on income of $481,098. Tax rate of 20.4%. Now what was Mitt Romney and Ann tax rate percent 14%.

      The one year they released.

        April 11, 2014 at 4:33 pm

they never even released one full year. the one they put out was missing tons of parts, namely the stuff that would show all the overseas accounts and other tax dodging. of course “the news” never let voters know this part. imagine the obamas, or any democrat doing that and how differently “the news” would treat that!

So Mitt Romney didn’t want to show that his tax rate was lower than a bus driver, a multi-millionaire paying a lower tax rate then a plumber, bus driver, secretary.

This speech is so great. President Obama just nailed it — with all of the disenfranchisement going on in the country with bogus voter id laws (which we have to fight vigorously) , the problem is too many people are willingly giving up their power to vote. I think he is talking directly to the folks who stayed home in 2010. He said get out there and VOTE.

  12. April 11, 2014 at 4:39 pm

Our President was surely fired up for this speech. No one does it better than him . Best orator ever, to be in the Whitehouse.
He laid it all out there just now about the POWER of the VOTE. We cannot give up our power. And we have to be vigilant in
helping others not to abandon their right to vote, just because they did not get everything they wanted.

Thank you President Obama for speaking truth to power….again.

Perfect, NW. Why or why aren’t critically important speeches like these shown everywhere and repeated hourly. People are exposed to the most God-awful crap on tv and silly stuff gets constant airing, but the truth is covered over with obscurity. People need to hear, they need to know who’s depriving them of their vote and they need to feel that they DO have the power to change this travesty because as citizens they are the most powerful people in the country if the just pay attention and VOTE!!!

Regarding the latest NSA fluttering. If the story is true, it is definitely bad for the NSA. Of course, based upon prior “refvelations” most of which fell apart within 24 hours, it is best to remain skeptical at this point. Until some actual evidence is provided , of which there is none, I will continue to remain skeptical. I do not consider two anonymous sources as evidence, particularly when it isn’t even stated where the “sources” would have gotten there information.

    THE GOP WAR ON VOTNG

    By ARI BERMAN
    AUGUST 30, 2011

    ———————————–

As the nation gears up for the 2012 presidential election, Republican officials have launched an unprecedented, centrally coordinated campaign to suppress the elements of the Democratic vote that elected Barack Obama in 2008. Just as Dixiecrats once used poll taxes and literacy tests to bar black Southerners from voting, a new crop of GOP governors and state legislators has passed a series of seemingly disconnected measures that could prevent millions of students, minorities, immigrants, ex-convicts and the elderly from casting ballots. “What has happened this year is the most significant setback to voting rights in this country in a century,” says Judith Browne-Dianis, who monitors barriers to voting as co-director of the Advancement Project, a civil rights organization based in Washington, D.C.

Hillary is the GOP choice. I am not smart enough to know whether she is the choice because they Own her or because they think they can beat her. Rupert Murdoch, mike Bloomberg, John McVain all fans of Hill.

It’s a combination of both factors, Vickie. She has a lot of baggage so if she fails or if she alienates the PBO coalition – the Republican will win. If she wins, she is center-right on most issues (with one or two exceptions) which is enough for the 1% to maintain their status quo.

Republican congressman Tom Petri of Wisconsin says he will retire after more than 30 years in Congress.

In a statement on Friday, the congressman says he will make a formal announcement in his district on Monday on his plans not to seek re-election.

Petri is considered one of the more moderate Republicans in the House and was first elected in 1979…. He has easily won re-election in his Republican-leaning district in east central Wisconsin.

David KochWhat else do the Koch brothers want?

In 1980, David Koch ran as the Libertarian Party’s vice-presidential candidate in 1980.

    :medium

Let’s take a look at the 1980 Libertarian Party platform.

Here are just a few excerpts of the Libertarian Party platform that David Koch ran on in 1980:

“We urge the repeal of federal campaign finance laws, and the immediate abolition of the despotic Federal Election Commission.”
“We favor the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid programs.”
“We oppose any compulsory insurance or tax-supported plan to provide health services, including those which finance abortion services.”
“We also favor the deregulation of the medical insurance industry.”
“We favor the repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system. Pending that repeal, participation in Social Security should be made voluntary.”
“We propose the abolition of the governmental Postal Service. The present system, in addition to being inefficient, encourages governmental surveillance of private correspondence. Pending abolition, we call for an end to the monopoly system and for allowing free competition in all aspects of postal service.”
“We oppose all personal and corporate income taxation, including capital gains taxes.”
“We support the eventual repeal of all taxation.”
“As an interim measure, all criminal and civil sanctions against tax evasion should be terminated immediately.”
“We support repeal of all law which impede the ability of any person to find employment, such as minimum wage laws.”
“We advocate the complete separation of education and State. Government schools lead to the indoctrination of children and interfere with the free choice of individuals. Government ownership, operation, regulation, and subsidy of schools and colleges should be ended.”

    There more scary stuff there.

BOSTON (AP) — A Boston Marathon bombing survivor says in a tweet that she left a Boston television studio in tears before a taping of NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis lost her left foot in the bombing and said Friday she asked the national news program not to mention the suspect’s name but the show used it.

NBC News spokeswoman Erika Masonhall says Haslet-Davis was due to take part in a round-table discussion and asked that the suspects’ names not be mentioned. Masonhall says given the nature of the discussion “Meet the Press” could not make that guarantee and regrets any distress caused by the miscommunication.
