Holder Blasts Gohmert: ‘What Attorney General Has Ever Had to Deal with That Kind of Treatment?’

    ———————————————-

“And if you don’t believe that… you look at the way the Attorney General of the Untied States was treated yesterday by a House committee. Had nothing to do with me, forget that. What Attorney General has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment? What president has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?”

And heard ABC promote This Week by saying, “And —-we’ll be talking about the Attorney General of the United States playing the race card!” This was after the first bit of excitedly speculating that Rand Paul will be the GOP pres. nominee. So——it’s Holder who is playing the race card, just out of the blue, just for fun.

Can White Conservative Pundits Please Stop Saying That Racism Doesn’t Exist?

      By: Justin Baragona

      ———————————

Once again, such diversity! Only white people on a panel discussing racism in America. And wouldn’t you know it, they feel that racism is overblown and actually doesn’t exist. At the same time, two of the panelists couldn’t help themselves when it came to ridiculing Al Sharpton, a leader in the black community.
      .
      .
Few things are more offensive that white people explaining to black Americans how racism doesn’t exist anymore. I would have to think that African Americans hate hearing a white conservative whine about a black person ‘playing the race card.’ This is one of the biggest reasons why Republicans get less than 10% of the black vote in national elections, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

      ———————————

      • 33 anniebella
        April 13, 2014 at 10:25 am

If you take notice the ones who is behind the racism is always saying it doesn’t exist anymore. It’s like the man who beat the hell out of his wife, he always have a excuse. It’s not really abuse, he is just trying to teach her right, she made me do it, it’s her fault, there is no such thing as wife abuse she is my property and the Bible said I am the head, so I can do as I please. I have a feeling the white conservatives never believe that racism existed in the first place. If the truth were told, these conservatives knows that there still is racism in this country, in their party mostly, it’s just that they don’t give a dam if it is.

VOTING: PEOPLE GIVING UP THEIR OWN POWER & VOLUNTARILY NOT PARTICIPATING

Obama at National Action Network, defends Voting Rights, issues call to action

    ——————————————–

“So I’m going to make one last point here. We’re going to have an attorney general that looks at all the laws that are being passed. We’re going to have civic organizations that are making sure that state laws and local laws are doing what they’re supposed to do. We will fight back whenever we see unfairly the franchise being challenged.

“But the truth is that for all these laws that are being put in place, the biggest problem we have is people giving up their own power — voluntarily not participating.

“The number of people who voluntarily don’t vote, who are eligible to vote, dwarfs whatever these laws are put in place might do in terms of diminishing the voting roles.
    .
    .
“The least you can do is take them up on the gift that they have given you. (Applause.) Go out there and vote. You can make a change. You do have the power.

“I’ve run my last election, but I need you to make sure that the changes that we started continue for decades to come.”

Huge storm about 3:00a.m.—–oh great——hail just pounding the house, LOUD, and booming earth shattering thunder that actually wiggled the house. 2nd round of hail for the day—-we had nickel size in the afternoon but nearby daughter and fam had bigger than golf ball size hail. Morning. If I say out loud that I think Spring may finally have come here, I’m likely to see a snow storm tomorrow, so in a very quiet whisper, I’ll say that Spring has actually sprung. Went to a loooooog Democratic dinner last night and thought everyone seemed energized by the fight for a new governor. We don’t have a challenger for the R Congressional seat in my district, but the neighboring one that covers part of our idiotically gerrymandered county has a great one who gave a terrific speech. He is actually one of the DCCC’s best hopes for a PA pickup in 2014 because the current R guy is quitting and it’s a 50/50 district. So fingers crossed. Some of the candidates are smart enough to pick up on the Obama campaign’s brilliant use of numerics and told us exactly how many votes they needed out of our county. This is a greater level of sophistication than just vaguely saying Get Out the Vote. So at least some of our guys are learning.

MHP is discussing voter suppression this morning.

    ——————————–

The Democrats’ concerted effort to stop voter suppression will be a focus of Sunday’s Melissa Harris-Perry. Specifically, we will take a look at one battleground state where the fight has intensified: Ohio. We will put the spotlight back on Cuyahoga County, where Cleveland is located, as they defy the current law forbidding county officials from mailing out absentee ballots to all registered voters.

Unfortunately, the way the Constitution is written…….Article one is Never to be amended with regards to speech. The few differences are in screaming fire in a crowded theater, defamation of character, etc. It took years to get rules to marginalize the late Rev Fr Charles Coughlin.

I am writing a business plan and getting ready to try doing what I like to do in the place where I want to be. We’re going to open a food truck business in the Charleston, S.C. area. It’s in the very early planning stages, but we’ve got partners in the form of another couple that is essentially family to us who also have a lot of restaurant and cooking experience. We’ll have our second weekly meeting with them today.

We actually killed the chicken stock last week. As part of our kitchen testing we made a few things with menu potential. One of them was a roasted garlic, bacon Alfredo sauce with fresh fettuccine. That one’s a keeper.

I know! I will wind up DVRing it because my brother just recently got a radio show on Key West radio and it’s free to stream it! It’s called Live and Dead. It’s all live music recordings, no studio stuff. He always works in a couple of Grateful Dead tracks, hence Live & Dead. He’s got 4 hours to fill with grooves. He’s always mentioning me on air, playing some of my favorite blues and jam band stuff, and Facebook chatting me while he’s in the studio. It’s fun!

So, how long before Nora has her new rich guy drug boss pal and the Sheriff played against each other? Things are about to get crazy again!

I ask this as a person who eats on impulse, can never remember the coupons even if I have them, has a small pantry and a limited repertoire when it comes to cooking. Maybe when I grow up, I can be more like you and your wife.

They sure do. So here’s a tragic story concerning my wife and I and New Orleans. Her BFF was getting married in Panama City, Fla and she asked Mrs. Lockewasright to be in the ceremony. I suggested that we could drive instead of flying and then spend the saved money on a week in Charleston, S.C. afterward so that I could show her why I love that place so much and want to move there. She agreed.

So, we I mapped out the drive and made plans to stop in N.O. on the way there. I am such a foodie that most of my long road trips include stops in places like Kansas City for ribs, or Austin for brisket… I was stoked for N’awlins! Alas, her BFF needed us there for the rehearsal. So we skipped the Big Easy on the way to Florida with plans to hit it on the way back.

The wedding in Florida was a blast! The week in Charleston was every thing I wanted it to be. My wife was in Charleston for a day before agreeing that she would gladly move our family there. I will post a youtube video at the end of this comment with the some pictures of a place that I took her to convince her.

So, now it’s time to go home. We load up and drive back to Panama City to have dinner and spend the night on our return trip. They had received a gift card in their wedding gifts that they used to take us out to a nice dinner, we ate and then got some shut eye. The next day we drove to New Orleans and found a restaurant to eat at before getting back on the road to head west. We ordered our food and just as the waiter was leaving the kitchen to bring it to us, my wife got hit HARD by food poisoning from the previous night’s dinner! We had to leave immediately. She was a wreck! I got 2 bites of a shrimp ettouffe that was the best thing I have ever put in my mouth and that was it. She couldn’t even stand the smell of food in the car. We had to throw it away. My poor wife was miserably ill and just wanted to be that ill in her own bed. I drove from New Orleans to Phoenix in one night with only a failed attempt at sleeping in a hotel in Austin in between.

Democrats finally make voting rights a top priority

    by Zachary Roth

    ———————————–

For years, voting-rights advocates have been quietly urging Democrats and the Obama administration to fully embrace the fight over access to the ballot as a defining civil-rights issue of our day. This was the week when it finally happened.

The heightened rhetoric, which came from President Obama and other heavyweights in his party, is the latest sign that voting rights are likely to be a front-burner issue when Americans go to the polls this fall—at least if Democrats have their way.
    .
    .
It’s not just talk, either. The Democratic National Committee recently launched the Voter Expansion Project, which aims to push back against restrictive voting laws by registering new voters and supporting laws that expand access to the ballot.

Thank God. The carefully orchestrated, state by state assault on minority voting rights is truly frightening. Roberts and the other judicial thugs on the Court have deeply wounded our nation. The push back by the PBO and the democrats may save our democracy.

Its “gut check” time for all of us. I don’t know about you, but after these last four years I’m actually psyched to get back to Democrats arguing with other Democrats over HOW MUCH change we want to see rather than being pissed at Republicans all the time for their total obstruction. There’s a lot riding on this one. I hope we can all work together to make that happen.
