Good News http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-04-18/payrolls-rose-in-most-u-s-states-in-march-led-by-florida-1-.html
Payrolls climbed in 34 U.S. states in March and unemployment rates fell in 21, showing the job market was making progress across much of the world’s largest economy.
Florida led the nation with a 22,900 increase in payrolls, followed by North Carolina with 19,400 more jobs, figures from the Labor Department showed today in Washington. Ohio registered among the biggest declines in joblessness.
Gains in hiring will probably help lift consumer confidence and spur household spending, which accounts for almost 70 percent of the economy. The Federal Reserve, in its latest Beige Book review of regional conditions, said the labor market was “generally positive.”
“Broadly, we are seeing improvement in the labor market,” said Michael Wolf, an economist at Wells Fargo Securities LLC in Charlotte, North Carolina. “As the economy gains more momentum, employment increases and spending improves.”
Over the past two months, Florida’s payroll count has climbed by a combined 57,800, the biggest gain over a similar period since April-May 2010. Nonetheless, the jobless rate in the Sunshine State rose to 6.3 percent last month from 6.2 percent in February as almost 60,000 workers entered the workforce.
Dems running for reelection need to get out there, go on offense, and remind people that this good economic news didn’t happen by itself!! And it DAMN WELL SURE didn’t happen with anything the Repubs did or DIDN’T DO. Dems better get out there and kick some ass!
A couple of times in the past I’ve written about what I call the conservative circle of scam, the way so many people on the right are so adept at fleecing each other. Here’s a piece about high-priced consultants milking the Koch brothers for everything they can get, and here’s one about my favorite story, the way that, in 2012, Dick Morris played ordinary people who wanted to see Barack Obama driven from office (he solicited donations to a super PAC for that purpose, laundered the money just a bit, and apparently kept most of it for himself without ever spending any of it on defeating Obama). The essence of the circle of scam is that everybody gets rich at some stage of the game, with the exception of the rank-and-file conservatives who fuel it all with their votes, their eyeballs, and their money.
Today there are two new media stories showing that the circle of scam is humming along nicely. The first comes from Michael Calderone at Huffington Post, who reports on an interesting relationship between Sean Hannity and the Tea Party Patriots. Here’s how it works: TPP is a sponsor of Hannity’s radio show. Then Hannity appears in TPP’s fundraising appeals, and some of the money generated inevitably goes back to Hannity’s radio show. Then Hannity goes on his Fox News show and talks about the terrific work the Tea Party Patriots are doing. Everybody wins!
The details of Hannity’s contract with his syndicate have never been made public, so I have no idea if he shares in the show’s advertising revenue. But even if he doesn’t, he benefits from keeping that revenue high. Last year he moved from Cumulus, where he reportedly made $20 million a year, to Premiere Radio Networks, which, one would presume, pays him something similar.
Could have something to do with why Randi Rhodes can’t compete here…she won’t pay this game, for starters.
Should we even go vote 2016. If Chelsea have a girl, oh no! The media would be talking about William and Kate son marrying Bill and Hillary grand daughter.
Somehow all these cable shows are convinced that if they just keep doing the same thing on every show that this will be successful for them. They will never learn until they hit the complete bottom.
I don’t think I understand what Jen has tweeted here. They’re gonna review 2.5 million comments and agencies will need time for what given NE court case?

The pro-Russian “activists” in eastern Ukraine exhibit tell-tale military training and equipment and work together in a way that is consistent with troops who are part of a long-standing unit, not spontaneously stood up from a local militia.
The weapon handling discipline and professional behavior of these forces is consistent with a trained military force. Rifle muzzles are pointed down, fingers not on triggers, but rather laid across trigger mechanisms.

Excerpt from: Russia’s economy already crumbling, sanctions will finish it off
“2013 was a bad year, but this year the confidence of Russian and foreign investors is unequivocally lost. Investments have been declining constantly as those who can change their money into dollars or, better yet, transfer their capital to foreign banks. According to the Russian government’s valuation, 70 billion USD has been withdrawn in the first three months – more than all of last year! Since the beginning of this year, the ruble has lost 10% of its value against the dollar, though the Central Bank has spent 40 billion USD on foreign currency interventions to bolster the national currency.
These numbers illustrate how vulnerable the Russian economy is: Russia lost more than 100 billion USD over three months even without serious sanctions, and this does not take into account that the index of the Moscow Stock Exchange fell more than 10% in March. The Russian financial sector is under great pressure: the Russian banks lack capital; they used to get loans primarily from abroad. The Russian banks, together with large corporations, owe foreign creditors more than 650 billion USD.
Russia has become a part of the global financial system over the last 20 years and has gotten used to its advantages and comfort. Those who were more fortunate, who were closer to the gas valves and the oil capital, have gotten accustomed to travel, and enjoy capitalism in Europe and the US. It would be hard for Russians to return to a primitive Soviet-type economy, and the associated financial losses would be tremendous. The state propaganda machine has been doing its best to create the image of an enemy who, of course, will be blamed for the extreme difficulties the Russian economy is going to face. But the question is how long the national enthusiasm of the Russians will last once they see the price they’ll have to pay.”

It really is going to go from bad to much, much worse for #TzarVlad ….
U.S. Warns Money Managers of More Russia Sanctions
“The Obama administration told asset managers last week that it was planning additional sanctions against Russia over the conflict in Ukraine.
Officials from the Treasury Department and the National Security Council met in Washington with mutual-fund and hedge-fund managers, according to a person who attended. Their comments sent a message that more sanctions are on the way and that investors, if they were concerned about the impact, should manage that risk, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the discussions weren’t public.
clip
“This is a real wake-up call that there are in the former Soviet Union still a lot of moving parts and more risk than meets the eye,” said Deino at Invesco, a mutual-fund manager with $787 billion in assets as of March 31. “This is going to result in a decisive increase in the cost of doing business in Russia, in the risk premium, and that’s not going to go away for years.””
On Obamacare, the Republican party has bet big on failure for four years. Now the results are in. And they lost. Big time.
Of course, substance policy success and political outcomes aren’t the same thing. And just as importantly they do not always run on the same time scale. So it is entirely possible. I would say it is likely that the GOP will still derive benefits this November from the core of voters who are extremely upset about Obamacare, extremely motivated to vote and also happen to be the same people who routinely turn out in disproportionate numbers in mid-term elections. But on the core of the policy, which I think there is good reason to believe will align with political outcomes in the future, the results are in. And they lost.
The success metrics are plentiful, manifold and really impossible not to see unless you’re refusing to see them. We now know that despite the calamitous roll out of the website in October and November, exchange sign ups significantly exceeded the CBO’s projections. In themselves they were never really goals. And hitting them or not hitting them wasn’t the biggest deal. But they were exceeded. The final tally is 8 million health care insurance sign ups through exchanges.
Hmmm….I’ve never watched Scandal either. However, I will be doing the binge-watch thing at a future date. Right now I simply can’t afford to add one more vice to my already-full plate of TV vices…
n an interview alongside Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Heller dismissed the 8 million sign-ups that President Obama announced Thursday as “all smoke and mirrors,” according to Nevada political reporter Jon Ralston.

Ugh, leader of group that broke away from the IRA and opposed peace process in Ireland has been shot dead in Belfast. This could turn seriously ugly.
Who exactly? Which group?
He was the leader of ‘Continuity IRA’ Vicki, the group that broke away from the official IRA after the peace process. A seriously nasty bunch.

(Sigh)…MSNBC had the potential do so much better than this…and it shows in their plummeting ratings.
Oh FFS!
exactly.
This is why I have stopped watching msnbc. It’s either Rand Paul or Hillary or Christie or Hillary.
MSNBC would have been THRILLED with a Romney Presidency. I don’t think so, I KNOW so.
Say It Ain’t So Joy. This is beyond disappointing. Enough Already!! I will not watch this People Magazine crap.
I fast forwarded through the whole baby conversation. I refuse to watch anyone discussing it.
Me too COS, this nonsense is making my tummy churn!
PEW or Mediaite had a published report that of all TV/Cabler networks, MSNBC is the most chasing after News on HRC potential 2016 candidacy.
Note that Matthews started on Nov 6th 2012 talking about HRC and 2016.
Joy Reid knows better. She is doing what the Griffins and Comcast of the Business want or she will Never have gotten the Host Gig.
It’s a done deal now that Hillary is going to be a Grandma, she will be President 2016. No one else should bother running.
Should we even go vote 2016. If Chelsea have a girl, oh no! The media would be talking about William and Kate son marrying Bill and Hillary grand daughter.

Talking Points with Facts as told by Pres Obama for Dems to Use, Run on and Make great ads for their political ads this Nov 2014.
Full Disclosure. I have never watched Scandal. The little that I know of this show was all TOD’s doing.
On 4-17-14, Scandal was watched by 10.5M viewers. Their most Finale audience.
Hmmm….I’ve never watched Scandal either. However, I will be doing the binge-watch thing at a future date. Right now I simply can’t afford to add one more vice to my already-full plate of TV vices…
I watch it and love it. But I always dvr it since I can’t watch it live. It may be alittle hard to binge watch. It can be intense.
There are far more registered Dems in NV, yet this guy won in 2012.
Seriously?

n an interview alongside Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Heller dismissed the 8 million sign-ups that President Obama announced Thursday as “all smoke and mirrors,” according to Nevada political reporter Jon Ralston.

It high time that Dems stop electing total pretentious idiots. POTUS won NV with 5% points or better. This guy Heller has No Business in the US Senate.
