    Happy (Holy) Saturday everyone!

    We had snow this week but there is hope for sunshine this weekend in the high 60’s so off I go to run errands for the Easter Feast tomorrow.

    What a fantastic week in review Ms. Chips. I’d say “Our Team” had a pretty darn good week and is doing a fantabulous job!!!!

    Our Pa Dem governor primary is now getting ugly–what I hate most about primary campaigns. With one candidate, Tom Wolf, ahead by 26 points only four weeks before the primary, the others are throwing mud and accusations to whittle away at his numbers. We have a big fight to win against Corbett in the Fall and I don’t think this infighting works to our advantage. I can already feel the tensions in our own little county, with some people saying they won’t work for X if Y doesn’t get chosen. Too stupid for words. We have to stand united.

      April 19, 2014 at 10:01 am

      I was eager to hear your update on the PA primary race. I don’t suppose the Clinton Club will let Allyson Schwartz lose without a fight.
      Is Tom Wolf the best candidate, in your opinion, jackie?

      • 23 jackiegrumbacher
        April 19, 2014 at 12:25 pm

        Vicki, Rob McCord is the most progressive candidate and the one I wanted to run and will probably vote for. I don’t believe Allyson can win outside of Phillie and we will lose our chance to defeat Corbett. Wolf is smart and has lots of money. I think he’ll get crossover votes and he’s the only one who comes from the T in PA–the dreaded Conservative area. So if he wins the primary, I will do everything I can to get him elected. This is a must win race. By the way, McGinty actually worked for Clinton, so the Clinton’s can’t openly abandon her either.

    Of course the fox graphic is right on point – with the “percentage allocations” especially as “fox perceives them to be”;

    one small “quarrel” with the fox graphic : you forgot to make the total more than 100% (as fox has sometimes been known to do)

      apart from all the great things this story revealed is the utter level of great respect these young people showed (and still show) to PBO.

      this is how it should be (whether you agree with his policies or not) and it puts so many elected and non-elected officials to shame;

      young people will continue holding up what is great about this nation and about the world in general;

          Because of Citizen United, the challenge for him will be raising enough money necessary to challenge the Clinton machine. The SuperPacs are going to play a much more prominent role in the 2016 election compared to 2008. And I don’t know if any other democrats can raise a lot more money than the Clintons to be able to win the democratic primary. He is definitely one to watch, and he is on my radar. No matter what, I will never vote for Hillary Clinton for President.

          • 44 sjterrid
            April 19, 2014 at 4:10 pm

            I think the “SuperPacs” are going to be very surprised. I will be putting my money and support behind Biden or O’Malley before Clinton in the primary. I’m sure that the majority of Obama supporters will wait to see who decides to run in 2016. I believe the assumption from Clinton’s camp is that Biden will not run. You all remember when it was assumed that she would win in 2008. I believe that If Biden decides to run, Hillary won’t run.

        Oh I would vote for him in a second! He has a great genuinely progressive record in MD.

        On another note, Little Lis needs to be careful when she says “Federal Government” because PBO and most of the Dems do NOT fall in that category of gov’t officials who “aren’t doing anything” about immigration. She needs to come out and say that the GOP is not doing anything, and stop protecting them by saying “Federal government.”

            Thanks Kasai for all the wonderful work you are doing with OFA in your district. Facts are a voters’ best friend in this political climate.

            Unfortunately it’s not just the “opposition” calling PBO “Deporter-in-Chief.” The so-called mainstream media is HARD at work pushing that label because they realize it will help the GOP for the midterms if Hispanics are misinformed on PBO’s policies.

            Chips posted a comment showing that Ezra Klein had a huge “Obama: Deporter-in-Chief” headline on his website, just a few days before some articles came out dispelling this nothing. For all Klein’s so-called “smarts” and “wonkiness” he sure seems to love to take the easy and intellectually shallow road when it comes to bashing this President and helping to spread false info – just like he did with the ACA website.

    http://www.shanghaidaily.com/article/article_xinhua.aspx?id=213464

    SANTIAGO, April 17 (Xinhua) — Chilean Education Minister Nicolas Eyzaguirre Thursday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ending private education.

    “The pursuit of profit is not a good objective for educational institutions. It is not a good ally of a good education,” Eyzaguirre told a press conference.

    The administration of President Michelle Bachelet, who took office in March, has proposed an ambitious overhaul of the education system to provide affordable, quality education, as demanded by a national student movement launched in 2011.

    The government’s proposed reforms basically call for greater public spending on education, free primary education, and an end to state-subsidies of private schools and to profit-oriented universities.

    Ignatius: Obama’s miraculous evolution

    // Either President Obama has been touched of late by the lowly ghost of Prince Metternich, or David Ignatius has. I suspect it’s the latter. Although diplomacy may work in mysterious ways, Ignatius’s Beltway Word appears to be in the Easter swing of things.

    Three days ago Ignatius ventured that Obama was “flummoxed” by Vladimir Putin’s intransigence on Ukraine. But glory be, today Ignatius acknowledges that Ukraine “has always been a fight that mattered more to Russia than to the West”–which is one, though less direct, way of saying that intransigence was weighted in Putin’s favor.

    …Yep, that’s been the dance all along, one almost monotonous in its unfolding. Praise Jesus, Ignatius’s eyes hath seen the glory of the coming of the bored. //

    Putin – the Russia Basher

    “It is hard to imagine to what extent Putin has done his country, and in particular the Russians among them, a disservice.

    With his behavior he has made sure that a majority of the Ukrainian population has changed its attitude to Russians fundamentally and has started to view them as an enemy. As the writer Vladimir Voinovich pointed out so clearly: “they will never forgive us for this”. Indeed, there is a part of the Ukrainian population – in particular among the younger ones – who will never forgive, or forget, this.

    But it is not only Ukrainians. He has made sure that internationally the notion “Russians” has again become synonym to “Soviets”. And now it is not ignorance among observers, like it was in Soviet days, but “Russians” are now really “Russians” and not just a wrong name attributed.

    Also, he has made sure that the orange-black symbol, now propelled into the colors of “the Russian spring” and worn by separatists in the East of Ukraine, by “unidentified green military” in the Crimea and Eastern Ukraine and also used by FSB, GRU and all other illegal insurgents and infiltrators (as well as the crowds of useful idiots who for 500 Hryvnia sell their country and their own freedom, without realizing it) has become a sort of 21st century swastika. It used to be connected to the Second World War, to the fight against Nazi Germany. Now it is the symbol of Russian aggression, of Putinism, of 21st century neo-fascism. And it will never change back. No way will Ukraine ever hold a parade to celebrate the victory in 1945 using these colors as a symbol.”

          Vicki–Wolf is a businessman and a pragmatist. He was the Sect. of Revenue under Rendell and I think he would get things done in the state. McCord is the genuine Progressive, always willing to push the envelope to move the state to the left. Personally, I think this old, middle of the road state would feel more comfortable with Wolf, but my own heart moves leftward and always will. That’s why I’ll vote for McCord in the primary, but will be happy if Wolf is the one that actually wins in November.

        “At the meeting it was agreed to move ahead rapidly with the practical implementation of the Geneva Statement. In this regard the meeting’s participants recognized the need to take immediate concrete steps towards de-escalation. Deshchytsia informed on first steps already taken in this direction. Apakan informed of plans to send the Deputy Chief Monitor to Eastern Ukraine today to work on the practical modalities of the implementation, as well as on the ongoing work of the monitoring teams on the ground.

        The participants in the meeting agreed to meet regularly in the coming days to co-ordinate implementation of the Geneva Statement as swiftly as possible.”

    So PETA is planning to protest the use of real eggs at the WH’s Easter Egg Roll – and has anyone seen that shitty and exploitative ad they used with young children (about 6 yrs of age) supposedly “scolding” FLOTUS about using real eggs?

    And PETA tries to rationalize their shitty double standard (silence on this issue with previous First Ladies/WH Easter Egg Rolls) by having the young children parrot something like this: “So if previous First Ladies jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?”

    The interesting thing though, is that no one seems to be on PETA’s side on this issue – even people who are Obama-hating GOPers.

      few people take PETA seriously;

      remember how they protested that PBO hit a fly that kept interrupting his CNBC interview?

    O, that distribution of work chart is well done! Very clear picture of what went on this past week!

    Nerdy, your 10% was masterful. It’s not everyone who can cram so much into 10% – very skilful my dear; thank you.

    Chips. May I see you in my office, please?

    Lib-L, Good work, ole Chap! You are progressing well.

    Amk, my recent memo says all I’ll be saying to you for now. Read it again carefully

    Hmmmmmm. LPlains – did you go on holidays without submitting a formal request? We don’t work like that around here, you know.
