Jer, I’m guessing this is an honor very few world leaders receive. It’s a sign that the emperor and empress really like him personally. If it involved business only, the prime minister would have come to say goodbye, not the royal couple.

Good morning all. Yesterday Yardarm mentioned that today was his birthday and he was expecting cake. We’ll have to start baking for when he comes on board later.

So now that Democrats appear to be beating the GOP in the midterms and the ACA is no longer a viable “vulnerability” as the MSM once hoped, the media seems to be doubling down on their PBO-bashing.

I wake up this morning to the NYT headline “Obama suffers setbacks in Japan and Middle East.” One one hand, it’s reassuring because it tells me that these corporate stooges are feeling rather threatened by our President’s successes and are scrambling to put out a narrative – false as it may be. On the other hand it’s enraging because there are many gullible idiots out there who swallow the crap the media pours down their throat and don’t know how to think independently or seek out info from unbiased sources.

Well, Hf, I would suspect that they were hard put to figure out what those setbacks are, given the love and respect the president has received so far. But mainly, I have to ask how many Americans care. Setbacks in Asia are so far from their daily lives, it’s like asking them to be concerned with rocks on Mars. The coverage of this trip has been so scant, few even know he’s there, let alone the reason.

Oh boy, hopefruit. I woke up to that headline as well and was going to mention it here but I do so much NYTimes-bashing here I felt uncomfortable about it. ( I’m sounding to myself like a perpetually cranky old woman.)
      So glad you reported it.
It is an utter disgrace that the coverage of this important world trip is couched in failure terms.
The headline writers the Media all over seem to favor screeching negative words concerning our President.
Sometimes the stories are less biased but if all people read are headline the ugliness is all they get.
      Maddening.

The GOP idea of outreach, and the rest of us’ idea of outreach, are really, really two different things. I hope they just keep on talking….

    Opps. http://politicalwire.com/archives/2014/04/25/bevin_endorsed_legalized_cock_fighting_at_rally.html

Kentucky U.S. Senate Candidate Matt Bevin (R) “was in attendance at a cock fighting rally last month when an organizer said the the sole purpose of the event was to legalize the blood sport, but said he was thinking about his own speech and wasn’t paying attention,” the Louisville Courier Journal reports.

“Bevin had acknowledged attending the event but said that he didn’t know it was a cock fighting rally and that he had been invited to speak about state’s rights.”

However, WAVE had a hidden camera at the event and has Bevin on video endorsing legalized cock fighting.

Df, this is priceless. I think this guy should keep it up and it should be adopted into the Republican platform. Let them go on tv telling women it’s all their fault for loving their children too much. I’m sure there are millions of women voters throughout the country who have just been waiting for this inspiring message.

I read this article, and you’re right, he nailed it. However…..we know it’s satire, and we know what he is saying, but we know those on the other side do not understand, do not get satire. They would come away saying….”See…..we knew we are the party of freedom, and the Demos are the party of repression.”
Tomasky is an excellent writer, with a great sense of humor. The writers and people on the right have little to no sense of humor. Their weapon of choice is the bludgeon. Tomasky uses a rapier.

HEADLINE: Over 100? Poll says Obama’s your most-desired dinner guest

// Sorry, “Kimye” — more older Americans want President Obama as a dinner guest than the reality star-rapper duo of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, according to a newly released poll. For its annual “100@100” report, United Healthcare surveyed more than 100 centenarians and asked who would be the most desirable tablemate from a list of potential dinner guests.

For the first time in five years, Obama claimed the No. 1 spot, with 71 percent of the vote. The commander in chief ousted 92-year-old actress Betty White, who had topped the list an impressive four years in a row. This year, White came in second place, with 66 percent of the mature crowd choosing to dine with the entertainer. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton landed third in the survey, with 56 percent. Pope Francis, “Late Show” host David Letterman and actor Tom Hanks rounded out the top six. //

Well THIS should go over well! http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2014/04/25/morning-plum-john-boehner-admits-republicans-are-the-problem/

Late yesterday the news broke that House Speaker John Boehner had mocked his House Republican colleagues for inaction on immigration reform, mimicking them as follows: “Ohhhh. Don’t make me do this. Ohhhh. This is too hard.”
This morning, Boehner’s quotes are starting to get wide circulation. So it’s worth noting their real significance to the immigration debate: He has now effectively admitted that the real obstacle to solving the immigration problem is House Republicans.
This runs counter to the endlessly repeated claim that House Republicans won’t act only because they can’t trust Obama. Here’s video of Boehner:

So now Democrats are embracing O’Care so much that they exaggerate their role in it’s passage – hmmm….

But Chuck Todd and the media told me that the Dems would be running away from O’Care!

Chucky has moved on…now he is saying that the Japan trip is a failure.

      • 43 hopefruit2
        April 25, 2014 at 9:40 am

That’s the MSM’s newest false talking point – after blacking out damn near 99% of the trip, they’ve latched on to a single issue that can be spun in a negative direction.

Now if I paid any attention to Chucky Todd, why is the Japan trip a failure?

        • 46 Vicki
          April 25, 2014 at 10:00 am

It is NOT a failure. As usual PBO is engaged in moving the needle towards solutions.
The simple-minded think anything other than a homerun is a failure.

So I came across CNN discussing that welfare rancher Bundy and I heard Chris Cuomo of CNN, and he was trying to stick up for his friend Sean Hannity of Fox, he said something like Hannity is my friend, he’s not a bad guy. Cuomo was trying to excuse Hannity for the B.S. they started by giving that racists welfare rancher a platform day in and day out to preach his hate. Cuomo were saying that both side does it.

    • April 25, 2014 at 9:52 am

I heard Chris or Jim say on Stephanie Miller few minutes ago that Fox has scrubbed it’s website of nearly EVERYTHING about Bundy. Said there was one small mention of his comments ‘below the fold.” Fools!!!! Idiots!!!!!!!
