Much pride in our president during this Asian trip, as always. Love the way he beautifully shines in every locale. And isn’t it nice to not have to be embarrassed and cringe at presidential appearances, as has been the case, like, say, during the long suffering W years?
Was just reminded by Joel McHale on Letterman—–that the WHCD is this Sat. night——which he is hosting. Hmmmmmm. Not sure about that choice, but it is always interesting and fun.

I just saw that dotster, and I think we can expect a both sides kind of do it theme. Of course, that would be a disappointment, especially with the bloated and over-botoxed room to deliver to. Anyway, I’m speculating. I’ll give McHale all my hope and encouragement for now. Just please, Mr. Joel McHale, recognize the true defeatists in that scary D.C., recognize them for who they are and WHY they are, and
then just kindly roast them on a 10x10x10 pit. ty.

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/political-animal-a/2014_04/the_wealth_gap_gets_worse050100.php. Pretty appalling study of widening wealth gap with overwhelming advantages to whites. Breaks down racial disparities in wealth distribution. Makes SCOTUS decisions all the more disgusting. If we a more just society we need to keep organizing. If people vote, we win.

Just want to add I saw the actress Emma Stone tonight do a lip-syncing of ‘All I do is win’ on Jimmy Fallon. Hilarious! Particularly because I am much remembering the song playing as PBO made his way to the dias at last year’s WHPC! #Loveshimso

Thanks for the reminder kathleen. The President’s great sense of humor was on full display at last years’ WH Correspondent’s Dinner.

This year’s dinner is coming up this Saturday night, May 3rd.

WASHINGTON – The White House Correspondents’ Association℠ is pleased to announce that Joel McHale, star of the
NBC series Community, will be the entertainer at the association’s Centennial dinner on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
“We’re thrilled that Joel will headline the dinner when we celebrate our centennial,” said WHCA President Steven Thomma. ” He’s sharp, funny, and just the type of comic who can navigate the unique challenge of our dinner, making fun of Democrats, Republicans and especially the news media. Washington can use a little good-natured ribbing.”

“In a video posted by Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima on his Facebook page, the three can be heard singing Obama’s favorite song, Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.”

…Based on a story from the Philippine Star, Obama supposedly sang along from his seat. He also stood up and applauded the three after their performance.

President Aquino also supposedly told his men to “stop while we’re ahead.”

The video has garnered comments ranging from “They have a great second career ahead of them! An epic performance” to “Imelda’s parties come to mind.”

Several of Aquino’s Cabinet men also earlier posted “selfies” during Obama’s visit in Malacanang.”

“MANILA, Philippines – US President Barack Obama got a special souvenir from the Asian Development Bank, during his state visit to the Philippines.

US Executive Director to the ADB Ambassador Robert M. Orr gave Obama a book containing his mother’s writings for the ADB, during a meeting on Monday.

Dr. Ann Dunham had worked as a consultant for ADB on two projects —the Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan’s Gujranwalla Agricultural Development Program in 1987-1988 and a technical assistance for the Institutional Strengthening of the State Ministry for the Role of Women in Indonesia in 1994, financed by the Japan Special Fund.

“The Collected Works of Dr. Ann Dunham for the Asian Development Bank” was taken from the archives correspondence, signed documents, reports, and presentations related to the two projects.

“Dr. Dunham devoted much of her working life to helping the people of Asia, including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan and Thailand… She was a pioneer in the field of micro-credit—work that is still considered key to reducing poverty in many areas. We are happy today to be able to commemorate her association with ADB,” Orr said.

Dunham was born in 1942 in Kansas and educated at the East-West Center, University of Hawaii, where she met President Obama’s father, and the University of Washington,

She also worked for the Ford Foundation in Jakarta and Women’s World Banking, establishing micro-credit loans for the poor.

Unfortunately, she was unable to finish her work in Indonesia for ADB, since she fell ill around this time with the cancer that she was to succumb to in 1995.”
