Hello and congratulations, NCLB!! NW, thanks a million for this timely post!! Now off to make my salad to take to our watch party for The Years of Living Dangerously.

On the Hillary’s campaign, brought from the earlier post because I think it is important.

As with many, I am not at all excited with the coronation the media and others (including herself) are planning. However, I’ll vote for her in a heartbeat against any GOP (moderate or otherwise), Rand Paul, and the Bridgegate Gov. of NJ (who has begun walking to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. way before the Hillary craze).

My wish is to have a Dem succeed POTUS so that the small gains we made remain in force.

Hello TODVille! Hello Danny-the-Boy whom I haven’t seen in awhile.

I will too NCLB – vote for Hillary. I used to like Hillary when she was First Lady, I know she was lied about and talked about horribly.. especially by men, I knew a few on my job.. thus she had my support. After her shenanigans along with Bill during the primaries I was disgusted with them both.. and with their nutty followers- I met a few of them too while knocking on doors for then Sen Obama. Anyway, she did redeem herself while SOS, imo. I can’t / won’t blame her for crap the media says/does- because we know it is their modus operandi to get dems fighting each other. With that said I don’t trust her followers.. or like them.. but as you say- she is a Democrat – more to the right than I am.. but I’ll take that any day over a republican of any stripe. I never want to see a republican as President again, not in my lifetime.. and I’ll work hard to help that happen. However, I’m also not so sure that Hillary would win a primary.. we shall see. I wish Gov Patrick would run, actually.. but I am steadfastly in Joe Biden’s corner should he decide- because he has been Aces with President Obama.. and he has my trust and loyalty.

yep they are about the people- and that’s the only kind of President I want :) Hey miss nerdy, you’re kind of awesome by the way.. thank you for your diligence – always keeping our eyes on the prize.

Thank you so much for sharing these tweets and for the wonderful job you are doing bringing us all this information. Like you and sherijr, I hope VP Joe Biden and Gov. Duval Patrick will consider challenging Hillary Clinton. Another person I like very much is the Maryland Governor, Martin O’Malley. If Hillary Clinton ends up being the nominee I will cover my nose and vote for her.

Now if a certain FLOTUS by the name of Michelle Obama were only political and willing to run… :) :) :) SHE would be a shoe in.. damn if only.

      • May 6, 2014 at 5:15 pm

        Sherijr,

        Here’s what I posted yesterday:

        http://theobamadiary.com/2014/05/05/portrait-4/#comment-1018252

I didn’t remember those comments by deRothschild, but this short [Slate] article offers a succinct reminder.

        What an awful person.

And you know, we’ll be hearing/seeing gossip about the “Clinton baby bump” until the infant is born.

        I’m ignoring Hillary.

If Joe Biden doesn’t run (and Carolyn makes good points about age), I’d like to see a Martin O’Malley-Deval Patrick ticket. What the Dems could use are unapologetic progressives, not the mealy-mouthed triangulation and last century’s ideas and cronies that HRC offers. If Deval Patrick were running for President, expect the RWNJ machine go into overdrive because they couldn’t handle seeing two Black Presidents in a row.

        If not Joe, O’Malley-Patrick 2016!

        • 12 dotster3
          May 6, 2014 at 5:19 pm

I like Joe, but I think that job—–whew!——requires someone younger. I like the O’Malley-Patrick ticket idea. But I fear, and it is my “expert” opinion, that it will be Hillary vs. Bush. I hope that “exciting race” doesn’t bore the electorate to death.

        • 13 sherijr
          May 6, 2014 at 5:27 pm

Yes I like O’Malley too- he’s my governor:) As to rightwingers not wanting two black Presidents… oh well.. ’cause we need 43 in a row to catch up, imo :) :)

        • 14 nathkatun7
          May 6, 2014 at 5:33 pm

I am not worried about Joe’s Age! He is still very alert and very vigorous. He would definitely carry on the Obama-Biden policies.

        • 15 vcprezofan2
          May 6, 2014 at 6:31 pm

There is no question Joe has done a terrific job as VP. There is also no question in my mind that he would continue along the path PBO (and he himself) has charted these last years. However. despite his being alert etc. etc. i do not see him as the next president of the USA. Neither do I see Hillary there. Like Dotster, I feel the country needs someone ‘younger'; someone ‘fresher’.

Given the ‘exceptionalism’ of the US, there is no reason why the same few people need to monopolize the upper echelons of leadership until they are forced to retire. Eight years is a long time to be constantly on the go at such a stressful level. Why should VP Joe put himself through another stint? And how can that be good for his optimal health? Quite frankly, I think *THEY* (those at the top for an extended period of time) should be stepping back gracefully (on their own) from running, while offering their wisdom and expertise to guide a new crop of leaders. I’m not sure I’ve expressed well what I really feel, but bottom line is that I’m almost thinking it’s selfish and self-centred for those at the top in both parties to keep trying repeatedly for the brass ring, especially after they have had a good run at it. And I think it’s ‘silly’ (for want of a better work) of majority of voters to encourage them instead of reaching out to younger pols who show character and new insight/vision. I bet a newer, younger intelligent bunch of leaders would not be so fixated on war, etc. (What a ramble! I’ll clarify another day when my brain is engaged.)

    Nerdy Wonka,

Thanks for such an informative post. Just don’t know what it will take to convince non-believers that climate change is real. The most educated conservatives make fun of it; one just imagine what the Bible-word-for-word believers think.

President Barack Obama – a leader with vision, opinions and solutions!

  6. 20 Nerdy Wonka
    May 6, 2014 at 4:29 pm

This is why I give Hillary Clinton and the entire Clinton machine a glaring side-eye. In a general election against a Republican? Yes. Vote for her; because she is better than their nut job policies.

But in a primary? That’s a whole other ball game. This preview of de Rothschild’s comments and borderline racist views of President Obama is sickening. The woman has an unhealthy obsession about his skin color and the fact that Americans elected and re-elected him. To go so far as to back Republican after Republican, bash President Obama on Fox News, write Op-Eds castigating the fact that he is a Black man is disturbing. That Hillary Clinton would choose to associate with such a vile character is very troubling.

Democrats need help in 2014 and her cache is flying high yet this is the first campaign event/fundraiser she chooses to step out in grand style for? It’s wrong and selfish. There are many more worthwhile Democrats who need her help. She would be better served heading their way.

      Is this Lady Lynn ?

      • 22 No Child Left Behind
        May 6, 2014 at 4:53 pm

Whoever that lay is, she is filled with so much hate that the glasses she wears cannot help her. She kept her hateful rhetoric until 2011 from what I read on the link above. However, given how the stock market has done, I don’t know if her mind has changed. Regardless her station in life now, I would like to tell her that Obama is a two-term President and there is nothing she can do or say about that.

As for Hillary hosting events at her place, I don’t care. She needs the help of all her racist friends to beat the Koch-Brothers-machine. But associating herself with this PUMA in chief doesn’t do good to the causes she supposedly espouses.

        • 23 Nerdy Wonka
          May 6, 2014 at 4:55 pm

Actually, Lynn Rothschild continued her “hateful rhetoric” of President Obama into the 2012 election. She even went so far as to back Jon Huntsman and has now been propping up Eric Cantor.

          • 24 No Child Left Behind
            May 6, 2014 at 5:11 pm

That tells me she is a sick and strange wacko. A Dem propping up Eric Cantor? She is lost, lost like Palin and Romney, not to mention the POW in chief.

        • 27 nathkatun7
          May 6, 2014 at 5:46 pm

The “strange wacko” is not as polished but her views are not much different from those of this hypocrite Lady Lynn de Rothschild. Here is a woman, going around with a title of nobility, and has the audacity to call President Obama, raised by a single mother, an elitist? She never even posed to consider the irony of her claims. By the way, what I think she really meant to say was that President Obama is “uppity.”

Hillary does what is best (as she sees it) for Hillary. She has never had our Presidents back..her or Bill. We all need to concentrate on the midterm elections. 2016..a lot can change. Hillary is the old guard, her time has passed and we need to look forward. Holding her first 2014 campaign with Lady Lynn says a lot.

North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis (R-NC), the frontrunner in the North Carolina GOP Senate primary, told a crowd two and half years ago that we must “divide and conquer” people on government assistance. Tillis proposed pitting those who are legitimately in need against those who made bad choices.

    • May 6, 2014 at 5:22 pm

Yep, that’s him. But he and his cronies did not reckon on the power and strength of @MoralMondays, movement for justice and compassion and good sense, which has and continues to lift up the rock under which these heartless dishonest people planned to hide and shone the light on who they are and what they want. Moral Mondays returns this coming week in Raleigh, and has already spread around the country. Seeing his campaign signs around our state gives me indigestion and chills, but then I think of Reverend Barber leading the tens-of-thousands in “Forward Together: Not One Step Back”, and I feel better just like that.

What a compilation! You’re very thorough, Nerdy!

Anyone saying they didn’t get the climate change message is living in a bunker, and even there one would think some of the effects would be felt. I like the way several different tweets included the President’s plan. I’m not familiar with names and faces, but I’d like to think that there were representatives from across the country who were today exposed to the information the O-Admin climate people gathered, and that they’ll take the information back and give it due local emphasis.

    • May 6, 2014 at 5:23 pm

And the best part is they are bypassing the WHPC.

MSM/CW has it wrong — the Obama Administration loves the media. They just don’t like the GOP propaganda machine which is what the WHPC jackals are (posted near the end of the previous thread):

I quoted the article headline… thus, no “President Obama” in this tweet, needed room for a jab against the WHPC jackals.

You can just picture the likes of upChuck Todd, Jake (the snake) Tapper, Jon (Benghaz!) Karl, etc. pounding their heads against the wall at the WH latest (but not last) endrun around them.

My Ct. daughter is nice! Just saw evidence on facebook of 2 huge yummy looking quiches she made to take to her son’s school for teacher appreciation week.
In. daughter, who is a teacher, said a local establishment sent over a bunch of pizzas for lunchy, saying they appreciate teachers too. But this is funny—–they all got an email from Culvers saying they were giving out free “concretes” (?) to teachers this week, and apparently a bunch of teachers made a beeline there after school for their freebie and—disappointment!— a follow up email said Culvers was not honoring their formerly generous offer. Whoops—-and guess they weren’t appreciating teachers after all. Bad goof up.

    For Justice Sotomayor fans:

“Justice Sotomayor, 59, is approaching her fifth anniversary on the Supreme Court, where she has emerged as an increasingly confident figure. In the last term, she asked more questions than any other justice. In the current one, she has staked out positions that have led to testy exchanges with colleagues across the ideological spectrum.

She is a kind of folk hero to the adoring crowds who attend her public appearances by the thousands. Her memoir, which told the story of her stunning ascent from a housing project in the Bronx, was a best seller. Some call her ‘the people’s justice.'”

I got chills when I read this tweet and thought of the humanitarian aid woman who was captured and held for many days, and gained her freedom by US military (Seal team, I think).

I have a really bad memory for visual media — can’t remember the country now — it was reported on 60 Minutes and discussed here at TOD. She really thought she was doomed, but it was President Obama’s order that saved her.

The Boko Harum are dangerous destroyers (from yesterday).

Also, for those interested in a timeline of events:And provides a timeline of events (posted at end of previous thread).
Apr 15 – The kidnapping occurred (the same day the South Korean ferry capsized).
      Apr 23 – #BringBackOurGirls hashtag began
May 1 – Interest spiked when media suggested the girls were kidnapped for sex slave purposes.
May 3 – Secretary of State John Kerry condemns Boko Haram actions and pledges US support.

Teacher Appreciation Day: In case any of you have not seen the little sentence on Google home page, go check it out. It says “Thank you to all the teachers on Earth.” There’s a link which takes you to a 2 minute video that touched my heart. I don’t want to post it because I’m afraid there will be a visual clue, and the best thing for me was to watch not knowing where it was going. The soon-to-be-formed select committee to investigate the Benghazi attacks will have 7 Republican members and 5 Democratic members, a senior GOP leadership aide confirmed to TPM on Tuesday afternoon.

That means Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) will reject a request by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) that the panel be evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats in order to be “fair.”

Democrats are considering boycotting the committee out of concerns that it will be a politically-motivated exercise, although they haven’t made any decisions yet.

FOX News is a big reason why we have so many clueless, confused dummies in this country. Bill Hemmer said that the climate report was just a distraction from the ‘many scandals swirling around this administration’, obviously referring to their obsession and misleading reporting on BENGHAZI! and lying to his viewers about the multitude of scandals. I will never understand the high ratings at that deceitful, country-damaging network. It’s like a bad cult/religion, holding people back, leading them astray, keeping them ignorant.

    • 90 Nena20409
      May 6, 2014 at 6:35 pm

It is really not high ratings.

The righties and yes some Dems and Indies watch Fox. The most their show gets on an average is 1.6M during prime time.

The rest of the viewers are watching the other channels. The problem is that other cablers are now copying by following and using Fox as their style of reporting. That is the biggest disservice to the 24/7 news and also the problem with the MSM today. The Foxification of News.

    • 91 Sandy1110
      May 6, 2014 at 7:06 pm

It’s about keeping their viewers ignorant and ANGRY.

Fox is just more overt about it than the other networks, but they’re all corporate-owned and benefit from ignorant viewers voting GOP.

Darwin’s Finches Stamp Out Deadly Parasite with Help from Cotton Balls
Insecticide-laced nest materials offer a simple fix for parasite infestations

A simple intervention can help Galapagos finches to stave off an insidious parasite. Offered insecticide-soaked cotton, birds from four finch species wove it into their nests and effectively stamped out an invasive nest fly, researchers report today in Current Biology. The fly Philornis downsi represents a serious threat to the iconic birds, whose speciation patterns were key to Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. Its larvae feed on blood from newly-hatched finches and have been known to kill all a year’s nestlings at a given field site.

“Joerg Himmerlich, Reporter of the Swiss Neue Zuercher Zeitung [New Journal of Zurich] emphasizes that “there are serious voices justifying Putin’s policy and denying the right of Ukrainians to freedom not only in economic but also in political quarters in Germany”. The author believes that the so-called ‘Putin’s network’ in Germany includes chiefly a social democrat, German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel, the Bundestag’s leader of the Left Gregor Gysi, “the real star of the German Putin’s network, a so-called expert on Russia Alexander Rahr, who has the direct contacts with the Kremlin’s leader”, and also a former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Chairman of the FDP (Free Democratic Party), Hans-Dietrich Genscher, and a number of other German politicians, experts and businessmen. According to Himmerlich, these people do not want to make a sober analysis of the dangers of Putin’s Russia to Europe and, in order to understand Russia, use the words of a Russian diplomat and poet of the 19th century Fyodor Tyutchev, who once wrote, “Russia cannot be understood with the mind alone, In Russia one can only believe”. “Therefore, Joerg Himmerlich stresses, many important voices in German politics deny the right of Ukrainians to freedom and self-determination in Europe. There is a certain split-up among Germans relating to the true understanding of the freedom as well”. Himmerlich also believes that “whoever believes in today’s Russia in Germany, simply does not understand it”.”

    wondering if the man that breached WH barricades and who the media reports had a “Treasury Security Pass” was pre-occupied and did not notice where he was;

    strange incident – waiting details

Note to self : ignore any election talk that is not focused on 2014 Midterms – I am already too anxious about 2014 so no extra energy to spare

That’s my only message to the Clintons and anyone else distracting Dems from the goal.

From a distance – there is NO-ONE other than the Clintons actively starting 2016 campaigns. The GOP are focusing on 2014 despite having the media talking about those who may run in 2014, Christie was about to start when Bridgegate kicked him sideways & there seem to be no other democrats doing what the Clintons are doing.

Behind the scenes many GOP 2016 “wannabes” are traveling the country and getting books published – a sure sign. It’s the only “job” some of them have. And then there are the so-called RW nervous nellies who are ringing up Jeb, to urge him to run, and he’s on various stages, bloviating. Let’s not even mention the “draft Mitt” crazies.

          Makes me want to gag.

Had to go out & missed your post JoB – I am so intrigued by the number of GOPers who seem able to live on their PACs or donations or whatever – it seems whenever they say hello to someone they book it in as a campaign expense!

Wow, they actually managed to agree on something so fundamentally inhuman. I guess we should be impressed.

PBO said we are sending in all kinds of help and I for one am very pleased to think my tax dollars will be used to rescue these unfortunate girls. I also hope we hear good news and that all girls are safe as soon as possible.

That poor guy. He has paid a price for this public service with a painful case of shingles. Has done all of this accounting of ACA enrollment on his own time these many months. His immune system got run down.

JMPO folks. Remember the first debate between our President and the wannabe in 2012. Remember the perception many had of that debate.

    Two words. gish gallop.

Now apply that concept to what’s happening on the entire news scene.

The rateffers are doing it to us again.

We are running around putting out winger BS fireS.
