What does this “Au” you keep writing mean, Nena?

      Typically, “AU” means Alternate Universe.

      Is Au another language?

Au is Periodic term for GOLD.

        Ag Is Silver.

I have yet to remember what stands for Bronze. I refused willfully to look it up. Going by my Middle school science….memory.

I remember Au from chemistry class. It’s just weird to see you keep writing Au over and over again outside of a chemistry class, instead of the typical word, —-> gold.

      • May 12, 2014 at 2:24 pm

I’d like to think it = gold, and as a Man United fan that’s the only flippin’ gold I’ve seen all year

Yeah, that’s true. It’s just weird to see Au instead of the word gold outside of a chemistry class.

It’s the “only flippin’ gold” you’ll see all year and for the next couple of seasons. Bahahahahahahahahahaha….

    Tim Geithner?

Ed A*s Henry asking about TimG’s Book?

Love the answer by Jay…..detailing the economic situation and what the Team had to do to save the nation.

SS didn’t not contribute to the deficit. Jay is schooling the A*s.

SS Not the driver or main driver, the Obama Team said so privately and publicly.

Gotta love Jay stating what the team has said about SS privately and publicly. You can tell that ace reporter Ed ‘Cheshire Cat’ Henry combed Tim Geithner’s book looking for anything that he could use to ask an accusatory and negative question. So the best he came up with is a nothing burger on the issue of Social Security and the deficit. Pathetic.

Thank you Meta for posting, please keep tweeting this information if you can.

Some guy, can’t remember his name, was on the Stephanopolis Sunday Round Table and tried to suggest that President Obama was responsible for the coward B_______s who kidnapped the Nigerian girls; trying to say that it was due to their foreign policy failure. I could not believe my ears. Donna B. was on the show, and I felt like she should have jumped all over his a_ _ for such lies. I didn’t watch the whole thing, was just too mad to stomach this BS.

What is it that they don’t blame the President for? Donna should have been forceful, as a Democrat, and beating his a_ _ if need be. The Dems allow the repukes too much ROOM to lie; they should be in their face about Benghazi, and asking the same questions about Iraq’s investigation when we lost 4,000 plus of our men and women based on a lie, AND the countless number of innocent people who died because of Bush/Cheney lying us into a war.

DEMS, PLEASE STOP BEING SO DAMN PASSIVE AND FIGHT BACK BECAUSE A LIE THAT IS LEFT UNCHALLENGED BECOMES THE TRUTH BY DEFAULT!

      • 32 Don
        May 12, 2014 at 2:55 pm

Donna B was probably too busy smiling and laughing and calling everybody her “Boo” to notice such a crass accusation.

          May 12, 2014 at 2:59 pm

          Happy Monday to you Don,
Yes, she was just chilling, that’s the problem; repukes lie with a straight face and yell to the top of their voices-with the lie.

Dems sit back and chill (not all) while the lies are being served up.

      • 34 Don
        May 12, 2014 at 2:59 pm

Besides, Donna is one of a handful of blacks that served in the Clinton administration that still sees Bill as some sort of all-knowing “Daddy,” and that they will protect him with every fiber of their being.

        • 35 Cindy
          May 12, 2014 at 3:11 pm

I personally haven’t been impressed with her because she is all for the Clintons and will defend Hillary at the twinkle of an eye. She agreed with the statement that President Obama could have done more regarding Syria with one of panelist yesterday.

Some of the Dems are living 2016 “NOW” instead of focusing on the work that the President is accomplishing “without” the repukes, and preparing for 2014. Many of them never “get it” when they have something good.

They should be locked in arms; walking step-by-step, rolling forward to victory on the accomplishments of “this administration.” When they have the microphone, they spend time talking about what the President could have done-should have done, instead of “preaching” about what he has already done and is still doing.

          I just don’t get it.

        • May 12, 2014 at 3:48 pm

OH GAWD, don’t get me started. I’m still fuming from an OFA invitation I got over the weekend to attend a “Ready for Hillary” event. I went nuts.

            May 12, 2014 at 4:13 pm

            Meta,

I know how you feel. I stopped opening my e-mails from OFA and the others; crying sad stories as to why we need to give or supporting Hillary. I got so fed up with the sad stories and how we were going to lose.

They did that when President Obama was running for 2nd term, and I wrote them and told them to “STOP” speaking failure over his life and predicting failure, it just pissed me off; doom and gloom everywhere and that is why I needed to contribute according to the e-mail. I told them that if they didn’t believe in his victory, they should not be working on his campaign. Ironically, they (emails) stopped.

                Happy Monday GGail!

Good for you! That is not the way to run a campaign; scare tactics, fear mongering and doom is how the repukes do it, DEMS should not step in the water of this type of politics.

      • 41 Don
        May 12, 2014 at 3:03 pm

The passion to protect and stand up for President Obama comes from the voters, and not from other Democratic elected politicians or so called Democratic pundits.

      • 42 Don
        May 12, 2014 at 3:09 pm

The behavior demonstrated my Donna B is not at all surprising when it is seen through a lens that measures a person’s perceived value, Malcom X talks about this type of behavior in one of his famous speeches about the house negro and the field negro.

      • 44 Don
        May 12, 2014 at 3:16 pm

Every sickness that Clinton felt when he was in office was internalized by Donna B and other Blacks that worked in the Clinton administration, it was also internalized by some of the Black Democratic elected politicians that were in office at that time. When Clinton was sick it was “We Sick,” but when Obama got sick it was “He’s sick.”

        • 45 Cindy
          May 12, 2014 at 3:19 pm

Malcolm describes the difference between the “house Negro” and the “field Negro.”
Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. 23 January 1963.

Transcribed text from audio excerpt. [read entire speech]

So you have two types of Negro. The old type and the new type. Most of you know the old type. When you read about him in history during slavery he was called “Uncle Tom.” He was the house Negro. And during slavery you had two Negroes. You had the house Negro and the field Negro.

The house Negro usually lived close to his master. He dressed like his master. He wore his master’s second-hand clothes. He ate food that his master left on the table. And he lived in his master’s house–probably in the basement or the attic–but he still lived in the master’s house.

So whenever that house Negro identified himself, he always identified himself in the same sense that his master identified himself. When his master said, “We have good food,” the house Negro would say, “Yes, we have plenty of good food.” “We” have plenty of good food. When the master said that “we have a fine home here,” the house Negro said, “Yes, we have a fine home here.” When the master would be sick, the house Negro identified himself so much with his master he’d say, “What’s the matter boss, we sick?” His master’s pain was his pain. And it hurt him more for his master to be sick than for him to be sick himself. When the house started burning down, that type of Negro would fight harder to put the master’s house out than the master himself would.

But then you had another Negro out in the field. The house Negro was in the minority. The masses–the field Negroes were the masses. They were in the majority. When the master got sick, they prayed that he’d die. [Laughter] If his house caught on fire, they’d pray for a wind to come along and fan the breeze.

If someone came to the house Negro and said, “Let’s go, let’s separate,” naturally that Uncle Tom would say, “Go where? What could I do without boss? Where would I live? How would I dress? Who would look out for me?” That’s the house Negro. But if you went to the field Negro and said, “Let’s go, let’s separate,” he wouldn’t even ask you where or how. He’d say, “Yes, let’s go.” And that one ended right there.

So now you have a twentieth-century-type of house Negro. A twentieth-century Uncle Tom. He’s just as much an Uncle Tom today as Uncle Tom was 100 and 200 years ago. Only he’s a modern Uncle Tom. That Uncle Tom wore a handkerchief around his head. This Uncle Tom wears a top hat. He’s sharp. He dresses just like you do. He speaks the same phraseology, the same language. He tries to speak it better than you do. He speaks with the same accents, same diction. And when you say, “your army,” he says, “our army.” He hasn’t got anybody to defend him, but anytime you say “we” he says “we.” “Our president,” “our government,” “our Senate,” “our congressmen,” “our this and our that.” And he hasn’t even got a seat in that “our” even at the end of the line. So this is the twentieth-century Negro. Whenever you say “you,” the personal pronoun in the singular or in the plural, he uses it right along with you. When you say you’re in trouble, he says, “Yes, we’re in trouble.”

But there’s another kind of Black man on the scene. If you say you’re in trouble, he says, “Yes, you’re in trouble.” [Laughter] He doesn’t identify himself with your plight whatsoever.

      Hi, muscatinegal,

Now that it’s May, has your husband heard any more from that colleague at the Food Bank who said he (the colleague) was off to work for Hillary 2016?

BTW, how do food banks work? Do local supermarkets donate food to a charity, who then allocates to needy residents? Just curious.

      • May 12, 2014 at 4:12 pm

Wow – good memory about that guy! So much for that supposed May 1 announcement date – I was just thinking that the other day. All we’ve heard is that the guy from the food bank went off to LA for 6 weeks to train and is now stationed in Chicago. I just saw this article about the staff, but our local guy isn’t one of the regional managers: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/ready-for-hillary-field-staff-hires

Our local food bank gets food donated from groceries (including WalMart) and also buys some produce or other needed items that aren’t donated. I assume the businesses get some sort of write-off for donating instead of throwing it away. The recipients have paperwork from somewhere proving they are residents of our town and that they have X members of their household. I’ve learned a lot since R started volunteering there.

        • May 12, 2014 at 5:22 pm

It nauseates me that so many who worked so hard, who literally gave their sweat and tears to PBO in 2008 and 2012 have jumped ship to HRC.

I understand the need to latch on to another Dem, but why not work for a Congressman/woman in a swing district or Senator up for re-election?

Why can’t these Dem operatives see what the rest of us see?

          HRC means:
-WJC rattling around in the WH
          -Dynasty politics
-20th century baggage brought into the 21st century
-Cynical grassroots, not actual community organizing, etc.

      VC,

I posted some AFP tweets on Uruguay on the previous thread.

Uruguay, which recently legalized marijuana (limit 10 grams a week, at $1 a gram).

The Uruguay President was not likely to be wearing a tie at today’s meeting with PBO.

Also, to answer your question from this weekend re: new Twitter profile. The number of people you recently followed/were followed by appears in the timeline on the Twitter profile (where you’d expect to see a tweet).

I use no apps associated with Twitter. I used to use Tweetdeck, but have given up on that app.

      • 62 vcprezofan2
        May 12, 2014 at 4:03 pm

The number ….. appears in the timeline on the Twitter profile (where you’d expect to see a tweet).

A415, Thank you. Your explanation didn’t work for me. I still didn’t see any numbers anywhere near my profile. I’m glad no apps are involved, but I would love to know how to locate the new followers info. I am wondering if it wasn’t there because I have not updated my profile in the new format.

        • May 12, 2014 at 5:53 pm

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. The follower info only appears in timelines of people whose profiles display in the new Twitter format.

Here’s what you see if you go to @Phil_Radford’s timeline (just scroll down a bit from his most recent tweet).

So you can see he recently followed 73 people.

You can see your followers in your twitter profile – twitter.com/sonamie
          Recent followers appear in “Notifications”

LL recommended unfollowers.me, which is great.

You login using your twitter account and it lets you know:
          not following back
          mutual follow back
fans (people who follow you that you don’t follow back)

No surprise tweets in your timeline, that say something like @sonamie followed 29 people and unfollowed 400.
