99ts, thanks for your kind words two posts before.

As for the GOP tweeting about the new polls, let’s not hold our breath. We might perish.

That’s just a signal to Chuck Todd/ABC-WaPo/CBS-NYT to commission another “All-time-low” poll for President Obama or the ACA. Watch out for that some time next week…

Good Morning early birds – do hope the heat wave and the fires are calming down – thinking of those involved – we know of the horrors of the fires.

Good Morning AMK. I caught a bit in the news this morning. It is a nightmare, indeed.

Fires in California are very, very scary. The landscape is especially dry and there is no water to spare. It’s frightening.

    Good Morning TODVille!

    Congrats on your first, Chipsticks!

Hope to be able to watch POTUS today. It’s going to be a moving ceremony, the dedication of the 9/11 Memorial Museum. I feel the pain for those who lost their loved ones. Still.

Happy Thursday to all. Rain is in my forecast this morning and this evening. Well, better than snow.

Morning. Heavy rains and projected flooding in this part of PA this am. In the photo above, the woman in the white jacket is Allyson Schwartz who’s running for governor. That is the very first time I’ve seen her smile at anything. Shows that our president can charm anyone.

Every person watching that interaction is smiling Jackie – what an amazing man that he can always bring out the best in people – simply by being with them – old and young and everyone in between.

Methinks Shinseki dropped the ball despite this being one of PBO’s top priorities. That’s why WH is sending in their point man to VA.

My question for the Republicans is if you care so much for the veterans then how could you vote against veterans benefits, or what was that bill 41 Senators voted against recently?

Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has called for a new interpretation of the constitution, which could pave the way for the military to fight overseas.

His call came hours after a panel of advisers – picked by Mr Abe – released a report recommending changes to defence laws.

Japan’s constitution bans acts of war and “the threat or use of force” to settle international disputes.

China has criticised the move, accusing Japan of taking “negative actions”.

Under Article 9 of its post-war pacifist constitution, Japan is blocked from the use of force to resolve conflicts except in the case of self-defence.

But Mr Abe has indicated he wants to re-examine the role of Japan’s military to meet the changing security environment in the Asia-Pacific region.

    chinese ‘criticism’ is beyond ridicule.

Good for you, isonprize. This is the time we fight back and focus attention on the things we care about–education, health care, the environment, infrastructure, immigration and respect and help for those who need it.

    Oh NOOOOOO! http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/05/15/us-usa-economy-idUSBREA4E0F920140515

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell last week to its lowest level in seven years, fresh evidence that the labor market was strengthening.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits declined 24,000 to a seasonally adjusted 297,000 for the week ended May 10, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

That was the lowest reading since May 2007 and brought claims back to their pre-recession level. Claims for the week ended May 3 were revised to show 2,000 more applications received than previously reported.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast first-time applications for jobless aid ticking up to 320,000 last week.

    Obama’s fault!!

We had a spectacular example recently of how going too negative can backfire on a candidate, which should serve as a warning to Republicans who think a 100 percent attack focus on the President and his party will work for them in a general election. We have a good candidate for PA governor, Rob McCord, that I and many others supported until he started running vicious attack ads against front runner, Tom Wolf. Rather than hurt Wolf, the ads backfired big time and both McCord’s party support and his polls have plummeted. In the list of things that could hurt Republicans in the fall, I’m adding nastiness because I think that’s their first instinct and the one that most repels middle of the road voters.
