Chipsticks!!!! : )
Looking “golden” Cindy! Congrats! :-)
Hey, you didn’t wait for me!
Sigh. You probably forgot that I’m home today, CC. I’m home, so give me a ding before the next post, okay?
 That would be immoral!
Egg. zack. lee! Hence my appeal to you, the expert on immoral ‘Fiiiirsts’!
Wat’s wong? You trying to deny or wiggle out of our BIFF union?
O yeah, good stepping up there, Cindy! I shall have to keep an eye on you today.
O yeah! I’m home from the students today.
They are restless, it’s going to be alllllloooonnnngggg 2 weeks before they are set free. : )
Needed to prepare for the storm (screaming, no work turned in, “is school over yet” yells etc….)
Well then, enjoy your many triumphs on top of the podium here. At least we don’t scream (well, some do when certain pics appear but generally you can ignore them for that time. ….Wait a minute, I have a vague recollection that *you* might be one of the screamers. Forget what I said on the subject.)
Yep, I did scream from the hilltops this morning,
Why I love President Obama and Attorney General Holder; moments when emotions can’t be contained, shout it out : )
I’ll pray to the proper decorum gods for you too, Cindy – not that my prayers of these past years have modified the others’ behaviour one iota. In fact, opposite effect…the screams seem to get louder! ;)
Thank you my friend, thank you : )
This Administration team just leave me in awe at times. I am (whispering) just so damn proud of this Administration : )
Re Pres O and his Admin …..
They have brought so many, many, many moments of joy, intense pride, joy, confidence in their decision making, joy, trust, happiness …. Honestly, outside of the #ACA I’m convinced Pres O + his Admin have made a tremendous positive impact on the HEALTH and mental well-being of an untold number of world citizens!
No doubt vcp,
It’s that level of confidence and pride that wakes up a sleeping spirit in the human race.
I believe that “most” individuals prefer to be happy than sad; positive instead of negative, hopeful over despair, and President Obama and the Administration exudes this power and once you get a taste of it, there is no going backwards because…….
Ain’t nobody got time for this.
Full speed ahead!
COME ON GUYS!
The BIRTHDAY BASH is over here.
Prettyfoot58 showing some new moves. Shake that groove thing.
Go Prettyfoot58…….Go Prettyfoot58………it’s you Birthday, it’s your Birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY : )
Of course Chips starts a new post before I can get thru the R&S and comment. I really am interested in what people think about the VA now so I am reposting my comment.
Thanks, Chips for such a great R&S.
Good morning TODville! It is such a beautiful spring morning here in Montana. We have had some wonderful rain, now the sun is shining and my lilacs are almost out, my tulips are so beautiful. I love spring.
Happy Birthday, Prettyfoot!!! Hope you have a wonderful day!!
I would like us to talk about what is going on in the VA. I am appalled but I feel this has been going on for along time and the Congress needs to take some responsibility in this because of all the cuts they have made. The press and pundits are going to try to make this a Obama scandal. Since my husband is a Vet we are very aware of most that goes on. Here in MT things are pretty good, but It can be better. I also don’t think VA Sec Sinseki should resign. Alcyee, Yardarm what are your thoughts? And others. I need more talking points.
HAPPY MONDAY mtmarilyn,
Glad to hear that your weather is gorgeous. I just left a message for you to bring your comment over. I can’t remember the individual who said it, but his comments were, President Obama needs to answer for this. They are going to try and make it President Obama’s fault, they are already putting it out there.
The VA issue is a big one. And yes, some of the responsibility falls on the current administration. My concern is not in the backlog itself. Although funding is now at record levels, utilization is also at record levels, so some backlogs are bound to happen.
Shinseki tried to widen access by going more through non-VA providers but that was resisted by the GOP.
What I find most disturbing is the falsification of records charges. This is extremely bad and, if found to be true, people need to be held accountable. And that means however far up the ladder it needs to go. I obviously am positive that the WH and Shinseki had no knowledge of this, but I do think the administration should have made a stronger statement about all this than they have so far.
To be honest, I am sonewhat surprised the GOP hasn’t made more of a stink about this, because this is something the public cares more about than Benghazi. They are probably afraid that, since a lot of this goes back to their own actions in the past, that it would come back to bite them in the ass.
“To be honest, I am sonewhat surprised the GOP hasn’t made more of a stink about this..”
There is likely a good reason – a very good reason, one which has not been made public by the GOP media or anyone else, and one which likely would point fingers squarely in the direction of the GOP…I think this VA story, like many of these sudden “problems” that appear in the media at politically convenient times, is another one of those which we aren’t getting all the details and that the GOP likely bares the lion’s share of the responsibility.
I think vicki’s comment explains the reason for a lot of what we see/hear with regard to this story.
I agree the falsification of records is very troubling. How could it go on so long and the higher ups not know. Much change needs to come, but Congress must put the money where it needs to go.
I think we need to let this story play out. I always caution against making any kind of judgment until the FULL story is revealed – and that almost always happens months down the road.
Hi marilyn. I wrote a bit on why I thought the VA troubles are hitting the news in a big way now and I am happy to do so again.
PBO has a long and excellent record of care and attentiveness to the concerns of the military. The current brouhaha, while it is about real issues, is an attempt to blunt the huge advantage POTUS has with service families.
To specifics: 1) Early on in his Presidency PBO intervened in, changed and ended the horrific Stop-Loss program. The President authorized $500.00 per month overtime pay for any soldier who was a victim of Stop-Loss andd either they or their survivors were entitled to collect the money.
2) The Obama administration at every turn sought raises and benefits for servicmembers.
3) PBO made our military WINNERS when he took out Osama Bin Laden.
4) GOP screeches “support the troops” while sending our children into unnecessary wars, ill and under equipped.
5) Our troops are coming home and will not be deployed irresponsibly on this Presidents watch.
6) When Colorado tried to withold absentee ballots from miliitary overseas, the Obama administration fought that and the ballots went out.
There, I hope some of this is helpful.
Thanks Vicki, that is very informative.
Shinseki under attack…again
By Nancy LeTourneau – May 15, 2014
In order to understand the current issue about the backlog of claims for medical treatment of veterans, this article about Shinseki’s work in that area (published prior to the current controversy) is critical. It outlines the following steps taken by Shinseki to reform/improve VA services (and likely ruffled a lot of feathers):
1. Reduced the definition of “backlog” from 180 days to 125 days, raising the number of cases that fit in that category from 85,000 to 150,000 overnight.
2. Expanded eligibility for veterans affected by PTSD and Agent Orange, raising the backlog to 450,000.
3. Improved VA outreach – especially to Vietnam veterans.
4. Began the process of automating a system that was still based on paper claims – thus beginning the process of actually reducing the backlog.
Thanks, Ladyhawke, I had missed Nancy’s article. It is very good.
Why Is ABC Trying To Turn The V.A. Scandal Into Another #Benghazi?
Thanks again Ladyhawke. Such great articles. I knew I could count on TOD!
Good morning, MtMarilyn & all of TOD! Beautiful day here, however, I am buried in paperwork, and then any housework that I feel up to.
Like you, I am appalled by what I am hearing about the VA, however, based on current reporting, I DON’T think that Gen. Shinseki should resign. PBO has opened VA medcare to ALL veterans, hence, an increased patient load; additionally, goal was set that vets receive primary care appts within 14 days; tracking system was put in place to measure goal compliance. Problem I see is old regime employees unable to comprehend new admin way of doing business. The employees cooked the books because they thought they’d be in trouble for not meeting goals (old regime thinking); purpose of tracking was to find where the system was overburdened so that resources could be reallocated (new regime thinking). Cooking the books turned out to not only being self defeating, but exacerbated the problem.
Personally, I’ve seen great improvement in the overall system under this administration. In general, the service is better, the employees have a new, improved attitude. That is because the PBO administration has increased the budget and provided additional resources to the VA. I say “in general” because from 1995-2008, what I witnessed was those that advocated for themselves received good service, while those that didn’t fell by the wayside. After three months of being jerked around, seeing a different doc each time, and finally being insulted by a little pipsqueak resident who suggested maybe I was mentally ill or not dealing well with retirement; it took me crashing into the Philly VAMedCntr Director’s office in January 1996 and slamming a copy of my military health record in the center of his desk in order for me to get the appropriate medical care. I’ve had outstanding care since that day.
For those calling for disbandment of VAMedCntrs, I disagree. While it is true that the general med functions could be handled by civilian docs; those same civilian docs are ill equipped to handle service/war related illnesses and injuries. Larger VAMedCntrs, that are located in cities that have med schools/teaching hospitals, not only treat veterans, they do significant research on treatment of war injuries and serve as a training ground for civilian docs.
Thank you all for your comments. I haven’t had the time to check up on this much and I am starting to hear about it around town. I knew I could come here for answers.
Alcyee, thank you. My husband is also in the system and receives great care, but it is also because he is very proactive. I have other friends who complain much but do little for themselves. This is so important now, I so worry about all the young men in the system now. All of my friends are from the Vietnam era. They have gone thru so much, I worry about those who don’t speak out for themselves. I do know this administration cares and is working hard to update it all. This will take time. Thanks all.
Considering that the sequester had the effect of furloughing outside contractors and adding to this mess, it is no wonder! I posted a story about this with a link some time ago from the Washington Post. Google ” effects of sequester on VA” you’ll see it . My husband is retired Navy, so it’s important to address. I think they put many expectations on the workforce there and never increased funding for them to DO their jobs properly , so they hid the fact that they never could
There is also a back story on Shinseki. I don’t recall the details but the GOP was livid when PBO appointed Shinseki. Apparently prior to the VA work the GOP disapproved of Shinseki’s “soldier friendly” opinions.
Three years ago, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden started Joining Forces to show their appreciation for the incredible families across America who do so much for our country not just with words, but with real, concrete action.
While MSM & hangers on are busy packaging 2016 for $ we have a very big job to do right now: elect Democrats to House & Senate. BE A VOTER— meta (@metaquest) May 19, 2014
HAPPY MONDAY META!
As always, thank you for getting the message out there.
MSM is trying to make us forget that 2014 comes before 2016. By invoking their noise about Clinton & Clinton, they hope we forget to vote and they are trying to drown out President Obama’s accomplishments and the fact that he is “STILL” the President and not Hillary.
Chips, it’s hard trying to read each post thoroughly while at work. Slow down!
R&S is great – that which I was able to view and read. Now, I’m on to the new Chat with less words and pictures. I might be able to keep up :-)
Sheesh, you make VC look like this fella:
But at least I have an excuse….I’m working! What’s vc’s excuse???!!!?!!@@@!!!!
I have an explanation for why I’m unable to keep up
/voice heavy with affront/ I AM working! I don’t understand why you think it’s not work to be reading AND writing comments. That’s one of the problems in the world – people discriminating against the work other people do, implying it’s not as *hard* as *their* work!!! /insert angelic smilie here/ But I’ll forgive you, Gx2, because I’m a *nice* person.
Because she IS (almost as fast)!
WordPress weirdness….grrrr…… Let’s try this again.
Happy Birthday, PrettyFoot!
I’ve had a kind and supportive email response from the Gratefulness.org team, regarding the trolling of candles on the PBO site. She said she was very sorry to see this kind of thing on THIS group page, and apologized. Thanked me for reporting the offender(s) and assured me she would remove the unwelcome candles immediately, tho it may take up to 15 minutes for them to go out. I wrote back with our appreciation and included the TOD link, but I suspect they already know who we are! Notice I said, We, but I mean the best BT’s in blogdom!! Xoxo
Oh, thank you so very much. It really pained me to see that filth in a place where we have sought to be a sense of peace and love. XOXO
Big deal …. and little surprise that #TraitorSnowden’s first stop was Hong Kong …..

Indeed Bob! Eric Holder & the FBI made a live announcement earlier this morning (please check the Rise n Shine thread), so our TODers on the West Coast were probably just barely getting out of bed! :)
Thank you hf. I had seen the earlier news releases, but wanted to be sure everyone had access to the actual indictment which is available at the link in the tweet. Hope your day is going well!!
Thanks – the more this info can be disseminated, the better. :)
They are gone. Isn’t that wonderful??! :) http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=PBO
Happy Monday MightyPamela,
progress is made when “one” person dare to take a stand.
Thank you for standing up!
I’m so glad to hear that. That was just despicable.
Well done, MP!!!
That’s great news MP!
Happy Birthday PrettyFoot :) wishing you a wonderful day~
thank you so very much…:-D
Happy Birthday Prettyfoot58! Hope it’s a fabulously fun one!
HAPPY MONDAY DUDETTE!
Hope you’re having a fabulous day.
Thank you for bringing over the party music. We’re partying over here, holding things down until prettyfoot58 returns.
She’s out celebrating lunch, as amk would say; with daughter unit : )
Hopefully we will have a crowd by the time she returns.
But in the meantime……party over here, party over there……party every where.
Absolutely Cindy! We must continue to parrrrrr-tayyyyyy!
Cindy, you are on a roll. You’ve collected many gold medals lately for being FIRST. Congrats.
Happy BEAUTIFUL MONDAY laraofzhivago!
Thank you on the congrats. It will last but a minute : ) then I am back to the classroom.
Hope you’re having an AWESOME DAY! ENJOY……….
Laraofzhivago is No Child Left Behind. I don’t know how to rectify this mistake. I wanted an avatar so badly that I messed up my account. Sorry.
Well, I thought you had some cool story to tell about changing your identity — maybe some espionage-type intrigue.
But it’s just Word Press goofiness! Bummer! ;-)
I wish I had some espionage story, something to get back at the Chinese hackers, or at GG and Traitor Snowden. Unfortunately, I don’t. It is all WordPress related.
Wait! who dis? : )
It’s me, No Child Left Behind!
O my goodness……
Funny thing, when I saw the name, I was wondering, is this someone from Czechoslovakia-don’t know why Czech stood out?
I had to spell this word in 6th grade for a spelling B. I missed it and had to write it 100 times. Maybe I am still traumatized : (
Mrs. Henry was a “mean” teacher. I can laugh now, she probably kicked the bucket with her hate filled heart. There were two AA in her class, and I was one of them. Others missed their words, they didn’t have to write anything but we did, it felt like she hated us for being there.
The only picture that comes to mind about Mrs. Henry, is that witch from the Wizard of Oz. : )
Ok No Child Left Behind, fix this, I like NCLB better : )
Dr. Zhivago is a story and film that I love very much. Story happened in Russa, and Zhivago at some point lived in the Ural regions. The revolution was that of the Bolshevicks, at first.
Yes, it is Russian. Not Czech. Czechoslovakia makes me think of the protagonist’s handler in A perfect Spy.
Ok, then you can keep it…..I approve : )
We love you, no matter what name you use.
From No Child Left Behind.
Thanks, Dudette. I am trying.
Cindy, I am here to wish Prettyfoot58 a HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
Let’s get this part started.
So many people born in a May to share this celebration(me, too)…….the more the merrier!
We really love a good party so this is right on time.
Who is next?
HAPPY BEAUTIFUL MONDAY LDS!
Hope you’re having an AWESOME GOOD DAY!
Trying to show off some new dance steps but I keep bumping into people.
Getting crowded in here Chipsticks, Nerdy Wonka, Liberal Librarian, anybody, somebody.
Move us to the next dance floor : )

VP BIDEN TURNS DOWN PROM INVITE, BUT SENDS CORSAGE
…Biden couldn’t make it, but he sent a handwritten card and a corsage — baby’s breath, white roses, and red, white and blue ribbons. Biden’s office says he was touched by the invitation and personally picked out the corsage so Maselli would feel special. … http://bigstory.ap.org/article/vp-biden-turns-down-prom-invite-sends-corsage
Aw, that’s so sweet. Class act!
You’re right Dudette – Uncle Joe is a class act. He & PBO are always taking the time to let us know that *we* matter.
Actually the note and the corsage is even better than him showing up. There’s no heavy security, no uncomfortable pat-downs, no awkward stares and silence, just a forever keepsake.
I hate to resurrect the past but, here again, POTUS shows as his judgment is superior than that of his 2008/2012 challengers. The 2008 POW went fishing in Alaska and brought down to the lower 48 a fish called PALIN never seen or known before, even by him!
The 2012 Mittsy was fishing only for the 1% after proving that he could make money by shipping job overseas. From his own mouth, he disparaged the 47% and called them lazy and takers.
President Obama, on the other hand, picked up VP Joe Biden, a seasoned lawmaker, a man who can work with both sides of the isle, a gentleman, a classy man, a man of compassion, irreproachable here and abroad to the chagrin of the late night comedians that have adopted a caricature of the VP.
Yes, I too love VP Biden.
Good point, GGail. :-)
A forever keepsake AND possible White House visit.
Ok, at first I was happy for the chile….now I’m jealous! :-)
Not only did he send a corsage he’s arranging for her to visit the White House too. How cool is that?
I love My VPOTUS!
I’m going to ask President Obama, VP Biden, and AG Holder if they will escort me to my ?0 high school reunion, nope the missing number is not important. Let me see if I can get an invite to the WH, flowers or something : )
LOL. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Helloooo, Hopefruit! Your earlier tweet to Ezra (I am still playing catch up ;) ) sent me looking through my FLASHBACK file. Here’s a video clip to support the FACT that PBO and income inequality go back a long way (this was Nov. 29/2007) and Klein* (whose article I didn’t bother to read) is a waste of time. [* I took a 'vow' with another tweeter not to click on any VOX articles or link. I noticed that Ezra used a short link disguise, but I assumed his link led to VOX.]
Thanks so much vc – THIS is the video I was looking for! I had a WaPo print article from 2007, but the video is better because it really gives direct evidence for PBO’s platform on inequality! :)
And please do hold on to your FLASHBACK File – something tells me that we may be needing a lot from it in the coming weeks and months, and years…
YVW, love. :) That file isn’t going anywhere (unless my laptop dies; come to think of it, maybe I should get off my duff and back up some of my stuff ASAP). Did you notice how our guy started out with his trademark (IMO) humour? Of course you did! Doesn’t matter where you place our guy, he puts others at ease. We are blessed, despite the efforts of GOPs, MSM and the EzraKleins of the ‘liberal’ world!
well, well, well. vc, I’m impressed! Good job girlie :-)
Y, TY Gx2! :) (It’s all PBO’s fault.)
Here’s another reason why we need to take these so-called “political data experts” with the appropriate amount of salt…

I am not sure but have I just heard one of the toddlers – April – ask Jay about the failed, silly, senseless, racist rally of Saturday?
LaraofZhivago is No Child Left Behind.
I’m glad you revealed your true identify NCLB, because I intended to continue to view this “new comer” with a side-eye a little while longer :-)
It’s always good to be cautious.
Now that I know it’s you NCLB – it’s all good :D
Happy Monday to you!
I did view it with a strange take. See my question up stairs…..Wait! who dis? : )
Happy Monday Cindy.
You know….I think I’m the ONLY person who went to work today!
How come I didn’t get the “play hookey” memo or text or email or even phone call???!!##@@!!!!!
I had to break before I break. 2 weeks and the sweet little darlings go home to their parents for the next 10 weeks to run them bat crazy : )
Source tells me that Wolfeboro Police Commissioner Robert Copeland, who called President Obama the n-word, has resigned— Wesley Lowery (@WesleyLowery) May 19, 2014
If this is true, then good. But what really needs to be addressed going forward is the whole culture of systemic racism that plagues police departments nation-wide.
Thank you for this bit of news.
Awaiting official confirmation from one of the TV line up tonight.
By the way, this is No Child Left Behind. I messed up my account!
It is nationwide hopefruit2, rampant in Florida. When the head sets the mood of what is tolerable, the tail will follow.
Repukes never speak out against this ugliness, it festers until we hear about the death of a minority, and then and only then, does outrage occurs. Notice how the stations have stayed away from this?
I enjoyed the video that was posted here yesterday, seeing the people in NH speak up was a beautiful thing to witness, especially the young man who sounded nervous.
What? did Mitt talk some sense into the racist geezer?
I doubt Romney had anything to do with it. It was the ordinary voices of people from NH who decided that enough was enough.
Romney only came out after the fact – and I think, for political reasons. There is a closely contested NH senate seat, and Romney himself might run in 2016.
Exactly. And their town council (or whatever they’re called) were quite surprised by the backlash. They wouldn’t have said or done anything if the People hadn’t made their voices heard.
82 years old and still hanging on to that job. A close family member has a B.Sc degree in Criminal Justice and can’t find a job. I hope he did resign, disgusting piece of poop.
Huh? What was that?!!
I’m listening/kinda watching the briefing and for a couple of seconds, some TV show broken in to the White House feed. Looked like Jake from Scandal talking to some blonde woman! it was just there for a few seconds. What on earth?
Did anybody else hear/see that?
Yes. I got the same thing and couldn’t understand what was happening?
Now the toddlers are all hyper about the VA scandal, or pretend to be so that they can attack Jay and the White House.
Nice to know I wasn’t hallucinating. :-)
I was thinking the same thing about the media jackals. I don’t know how Jay puts up with their crap day and day out. SMH!
Here is the official report:
Again, this is No Child Left Behind.
Here’s my biggest beef. This police commissioner said these racial slurs in March. One woman confronted him and then the same woman reported on him. Now this was said in public at a restaurant. The racist 82 yrs old was loud and those who were present and close enough, heard him. Now this is May 19th. Why had it taken so long for this racist crude fool to be exposed?
Please don’t get me wrong. At a Town-Hall last week, over 100 people showed up expressing their anguish, disgust and demanding that the racist idiot resign. From the little that I have read, the town has ZERO provisions on the books to unseat or fire the commissioner.
Next thing you know that creep will be offered a talk show on Fox News, he’ll have someone running a blog for him well-funded by some RW “think tank” and Donald Sterling or Sarah Palin will give him a job as a security consultant.

Who did that to him?
Rolling on the floor; no, no, who did this to this little fellow. He looks as though he is saying; I am shame for this despicable dress up. Lawd, why me?
I think you nailed it. He is ashame. To make matter worst, the pants are below his waste, like those of so many Black teenager I see and which I always resist to pull up.
When I am in the hallways at school and they pass by me, they run because I do just that.
It is disgusting and I am always on the boys for walking around like this. Sadly, I see grown men doing this crap as well. Something that has such an ugly negative connotation to it, and they embrace it like a fine glass of wine. Sickening.
The worst is that I thought that it would have disappeared a couple of years after its “introduction” in fashion. No. It is still widely accepted, adopted, replicated, and spread. Such an unbecoming way of carrying oneself! So sad.
That’s just WRONG! :-)
#tcot http://t.co/IjTxtj3Xas— Larry (@crazylary51) May 19, 2014
HELL YEAH! HAUL THEIR ARRSSSS IN!
I have yet to see a Google report categorically stating that the racist has resigned.
He was just waiting to get his job offers lined up.
He will be headed to FOX or joining Limpbaugh for his daily fix.
Below is a little exerts from the link you have graciously provided.
Robert Copeland, 82, the head of Wolfeboro’s three-member police commission, turned in his resignation to the town manager and police chief Monday morning, police officials confirmed.
His resignation comes as several of New Hampshire’s most prominent politicians — including Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R) and Jeanne Shaheen (D) and Gov. Maggie Hassan — had called for Copeland’s ouster.
I’ll say it again, ‘cuz these are the times in which we live: “Next thing you know that creep will be offered a talk show on Fox News, he’ll have someone running a blog for him well-funded by some RW “think tank”,and (either) Donald Sterling or Sarah Palin will give him a job as a security consultant.”
He is 82. Time to go sit down one side.
Hey Miss Pat!
It’s been a long while. How are you?
I agree he should “go sit down one side”.
But 82 years of hate……..can you imagine the venomous demons he struggles with day in and day out?
laraofzhivago (aka No Child Left Behind) posted the link upthread.
Maybe Donald Sterling or that Bundy rancher will offer that racists guy a job.
Earlier this month, CNN faced some criticism for pitting Bill Nye “the Science Guy” against a climate change skeptic on Crossfire for a debate that was equally balanced despite the fact that more than 97% of scientists are on Nye’s side. A few days later, HBO’s John Oliver remedied the situation by having 96 scientists join Nye in a debate against three anti-climate change folks.
Another member of the scientific community who’s not happy with the media’s tendency to give equal times to both sides is Cosmos host Neil deGrasse Tyson. On the latest episode of his StarTalk Radio Show, Tyson spoke to former CNN science reporter Miles O’Brien, who shared his frustrations with the standard operating procedure of that network and others.
Tyson and O’Brien began by discussing how journalism could be more like science, complete with a “peer review” process to help prevent errors. “Accuracy in journalism, that leads to the phrase, ‘Is it fair and balanced’?” Tyson remarked.
