Bob! Beeeeeeautiful photo!
Just imagine, Chips, 1914 in Warsaw and now, today, in Warsaw … What an amazing 100 years and President & Nobelist Obama is striving to lead humanity to PEACE.
Hey Chiparoo, just DM’d you.
Just replied LL, thank you, you bunch of excellence.
Thank you nospin and theo!
Bob!! Congrats:) I was back there talking to myself……again…..
Congrats Bob on First and thanks for this photo!
Somebody, please tweet this to Ted Cruz
My idea with Ted Cruz is ignore him as he thrives on attention.
Damn…what a gorgeous picture! Thanks for posting Bob, and congrats on #1 :)
Thank you, hf!!!
This is a picture for history.
Hi Anna :)
Congrats, even tho you beat me. I do enjoy reading your contributions to TOD
Thank you Anna :)
happy 2nd to you Anna.
Thank you, was hoping………….oh well, maybe next time.
Congrats Anna on being the first Second! :-)
hey Anna – no worries. The trick is to never read the post first. Don’t even stop to skim the topics until AFTER you post. Chips and Nerdy always tempts us with the goodies and you can get side tracked. :-)
Damn these threads are moving faster than I can refresh my page!!!!!! Thanks for the PBO link Chips…….I’m going to be up watching CA election tallies….
AMK…..pay attention to CA-17 primary tonight. Might get a chance to have first Indian in congress… http://vote.sos.ca.gov/returns/us-rep/district/17/ ….going to be interesting to see who makes runoff for Waxman’s 40 yr. held seat…..only 16 people vying :)
I wish Ray Mabus would have left the Sec. of Navy gig in the Obama Admin to run in the MS-Senate….This T-nut is beating Cochran & might even avoid a runoff….he would have won easily!
Forgot about my fellow Guju…. Ami Bera in CA-07……..he won a special in ’13. Would make two Indians in congress…….
Essential insight, for everyone to ponder ….
War breaks men down. Judging anyone that is broken is not the job of any other person.— Brent Wallace (@CynicalLongkat) June 03, 2014
The words I’ve been trying to find ever since the fools started attacking a man who has been a POW for 5 years.
Wow, so profound.
Thanks Bob for sharing
Regarding the whole Bergdahl nonsense and the PoliticsUSA article goes, I thought this comment was pretty insightful:
“It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so pathetic. I’ve learned that when the President makes a decision and he doesn’t go out of his way trying to defend it against all of the nonsense that the right spew, I know then that he’s letting them hang themselves. Works. Every. Time.”
“…. I know then that he’s letting them hang themselves. Works. Every. Time.”
If I forget, can someone put up Chris Hayes show in the morning from tonight? He did a good job on Bergdahl piece
Until Tomasky (sp) couldn’t help himself and say “maybe it wasn’t the right thing to do” (bringing a POW home). They just can’t help themselves – NEVER 100% support
It’s statements like that which make me appreciate the all-voluntary military even more. They see how their lives mean nothing to those with microphones, and yet each year, we see more people graduating from the military academies. We see parents encouraging their children to fight for what they believe is right. We see families saying goodbye to their loved ones.
The way these Republicans and left wing commenters are carrying on, you wouldn’t think we just finished honouring the fallen military during Memorial Day…
My family have been fighting in wars – to my knowledge since the Crimea & according to the family history since the border wars England/Scotland – on both sides!
I am tired of war and sometime in the ’60s I joined the crowd saying all war is bad. I find it sad that too many “celebrate” war on our various memorial days and remembrance days. It is 100 years since the “war to end all wars” started & still we have not learned. A major premise of PBO that resounded among everyone – bring the troops home.
Thus said, I also support your words – the GOP is the party that would fight first and ask questions later – and they are the party who would “desert” the troops when support is needed. They try to defend the indefensible. They throw veterans to the wind in their attacks against the President – the light bulb of such seems to have just dawned on the likes of Chris Hayes.
I keep this bookmarked – includes mention of President Obama’s 2009 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech.
Lessons From Lincoln’s ‘Just War’
Thanks JoB – reading it now
Believe me – I am probably as anti-war as you are. I come from Canada – a land of “peace-keepers”. But, having watched Michelle Obama and Jill Biden highlight the plight of those who fight, and those who wait for them to come home… And having watched President Obama honour those who were ignored or even spit upon, despite valiantly serving their countries… I’ve grown to deeply respect those who risk their lives so many more can sleep peacefully at night. I don’t agree with war, but I certainly respect those who serve. It can’t be easy.
I’m sure you and I agree on quite a lot in this area – especially since your family has known military life for so long. :)
I agree with all you say theo – those who serve should be treated with love and respect – but I just don’t like that too many “celebrate” war. In thousands of years we give lip service to peace – it is sad
I love what FLOTUS & Dr Biden are doing – they really know what is needed.
What the hell is wrong with these people……..especially the companies permitting this? Only thing I can do is no longer shop at Target…this is nuts!!!
Gun-control group assails Target for letting gun-rights activists carry weapons into stores. on.wsj.com/1pQi4rX http://t.co/WD3P0bru9p— Jim Roberts (@nycjim) June 04, 2014
This really makes me sick. All those arguments about people carrying guns to fight off wild animals and protect themselves from intruders, etc. What is the point of this? When kids see this, what are they supposed to think? The selfishness of this act is beyond the pale. It’s just disgusting.
I thought these stories were restricted to the south, and not BIG corporate America like Target! ………I even read today the NRA is apologizing going after the gun-rights groups advocating these policies….
“There was some confusion, we apologize, again, for any confusion that that post caused,” said the NRA’s Chris Cox on a NRA radio talk show.
Now, the truth is, an alert went out that referred to this type of behavior as weird, or somehow not normal. And that was a mistake. It shouldn’t have happened. I’ve had a discussion with the staffer who wrote that piece, and expressed his personal opinion. Our job is not to criticize the lawful behavior of fellow gun owners.”
Target is already on thin ice with the hacking issue. This is not good.
WELL SAID THEO…IN EVERY WAY….DISGUSTING AND A POOR EXAMPLE FOR OUR CHILDREN…GOD WEEPS!
Be wonderful if someone came up behind these fools & out them in a bear hug – just how would they get to the weapon?
Gotta say LP – I’m very relieved I don’t have to face this in my world
I remember seeing video of Jewish West Bank settlers walking around on their daily business with submachine guns strapped to their backs. I thought: “Well, that’s not a sign of a healthy society.” And look what we have here now. Maddening.
You are fortunate……I would also like to scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef…..another item on my bucket list.
This is just plain sick, what are these stupid ass people trying to prove walking around with guns like that. If it was my people doing that it would scare people so much specially if they had a hoodie on.
Good evening TODville. It has been a very long day. I have been an election judge today. From 6am to 8:30 pm. For a primary we were steady all day. Even with many mail ins. I have hope for a good turnout this fall. Now to go back and read all that has gone one today, Haven’t been able to even look at any news.
Thank you so much for being involved – in such a big way – in our election process!
Thank you Jacquelineobommer. I believe it is my duty to work the elections. Besides for me it is working in my neighborhood so I get to see alot of people. It is a very long day though.
I bet you slept “like a baby,” that night, mtmarilyn! :)

I just saw a headline on LA Times saying the Army might pursue desertion charges against Bergdahl? what?!
Interestingly that headline on the front page has now been replaced – the article might still be around – that was probably from “an unnamed army spokesperson”. I couldn’t find the article to confirm my thoughts.
I read a similar thing earlier…but then it said they probably won’t do that… just wait and see what happens. I wouldn’t get my stuff in a bunch just yet.
Totally agree. There will be all kinds of distractions out there, purposefully pushing a narrative. The military hasn’t even fully debriefed the returned POW, and there is NO WAY they would be officially announcing anything at this point. This is not the game the media thinks it is.
Thanks DF – I didn’t even click on it, to save my sanity…
OK……..we can’t sleep on Bruce Braley…..gonna need to fire up the OFA turn out machine. Can’t afford having this lunatic woman replacing Tom Harkin!

I think the lunatics winning primaries is a positive for the democrats – be interesting to see if some of them suddenly track away from the stupid in the next few months
The problem is, every once in a while, the lunatics make their way through (especially when Dems don’t vote). Cases in point: Allen West and Joe Walsh. Plus, Gov Scott Walker.
Fortunately they don’t last too long
Let’s get ready to roll, nath and Chips!

I am ready, JOB! Now what can we do to convince Feinstein to retire early? We need a real Obama supporter in her seat. Unfortunately, her current term doesn’t end until 2018 — two years after PBO.
We’ll just have to keep hoping!
@sonamie I hope you won't mind if I borrow this photo from you. Love it. http://t.co/j8CGiSWVha— (@MsJudyJones) June 03, 2014
Bob’s post about 100 years of history and the President in Poland is what I’ve been dwelling on all day. I wrote a bit about this earlier…..I’m a child of the Cold War. When I grew up Poland, Czechaslovakia, Yugoslavia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia were all part of the Soviet Union. They were behind the IRON CURTAIN…..they were forbidden places. East Germany was a huge threat, we thought, then the wall came down and we saw they were a paper tiger.
Now they, and we, are celebrating 25 of freedom, and I’m so glad PBO is the Am President who is present for these celebrations.
This visit of his, and these celebrations show that CHANGE CAN HAPPEN when good people work for it. It does not come easy, and the old guard always goes down fighting, but let this wonder we are witnessing in Europe right now keep us encouraged to work for change, and see the right’s yells for what they are: the death throes of a dying beast, as archaic as the woolly mammoth.
RACHEL MADDOW 06/03/14
1) Right wing organizes bashing of American POW
Rachel Maddow reports on the passion and outrage with which the American right is objecting to the return of American soldier Bowe Bergdahl, rejecting the longstanding American principle of leaving no soldier behind.
2) Right ignores due process in zeal to condemn American POW
Patrick Murphy, an Iraq War veteran, former congressman, and the host of “Taking the Hill” on msnbc, talks with Rachel Maddow about unexpected passion on the right for leaving an American soldier behind in Afghanistan as a prisoner of the Taliban.
The Taliban and their ilk must be scratching their heads wondering why they’ve been working so hard all these years.

So the media reports are now down to the each way bets – in 2 weeks the President will be proven correct – story will be overtaken by the next GOP “scandal”
Meanwhile we are hearing nothing about Benghazi!!! and the VA!!!

Thanks, but I can hardly work through all the negatives in this country! :)
They are totally out of control now.
I wonder if these idiots realize some of these words they’re uttering can’t be taken back, and are very hurtful to the POW, his family, and every decent person hearing this crap. It’s a real shame.
I’m concerned for the parents.
So now we judge someone guilty before they have a trial? Does not sound like they belief in an American right to a fair trial.

If anyone’s still up, here’s a good livestream for events in Poland:
President Obama won’t meet with Putin, but European leaders will. That sure is isolating Putin, isn’t it. Makes me wonder how much can the Europeans be trusted.
GM anniebella. This program is on C-Span live tv right now also.
Thanks COS. Morning to you.
c-span link – thanks COS
I don’t trust these European leaders either. Why are they meeting with Putin?
I am hearing lots of talk of how the soldier deserted his post, is it possible that the guy had some mental issues. I mean war is hell, and it affect every individual different, and people need to stop playing politics and wait and see what the U.S. can fine out from the soldier. But I don’t understand how anyone could say that he should have be left with the taliban. The U.S. sent him over there to fight and the U.S. should do all they can to bring him home, unless he gives up his right to be a American and choose to live over there. And I have not hear so far that is what the soldier wanted to do. It is ashame what the Republicans has become and I am seeing some Dems are nothing to be proud of. Media don’t give a dam about the truth, they just want controversy.
This!!!! The media is fueling this fire to the nth power.
One thing POTUS have learn is he can’t trust the Republicans, it he would have told them it would have been leak to Fox or Jonathan Karl, Chuck Todd or someone. And I’m not to sure about the Dems like Sen. Feinstein either.
It sure would have. None of these folks could have been trusted and would have ruined the mission.
Stick A Fork In Republican Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, He’s Done
“Nothing turns voters away from Republican candidates faster than having to endure Republican governance for a few years. Voters have turned sour on Corbett, with just 27 percent approving of his job performance while more than twice as many (58 percent) disapprove.”
“A Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released today shows that Republican Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett is doomed in his bid for re-election. Democrat Tom Wolf leads Corbett by an eye-popping 55-30 margin.”
I hope this will be the case for other governors also. The people in Michigan and Wisconsin need to wake up.
“Thank you Obama” – the crowd yells :)

These people have too much ‘mad’ in them; it’s eye-opening to me that people can live long lives with so much vitriol inside. I used to think uncontrolled hatred would shorten one’s lifespan, but I was obviously wrong. A pity.
It used to before they invented the “blood pressure pills”
So that’s it! Ah, shucks. :( Now I’ll have to wipe away that hope….thought….I mean …idea … in the back of my head that some of them would soon do themselves in.
fact: from the beginning America doesn’t leave its military behind;
fact: we don’t know the total facts of Sgt Bergdhal’s disappearance; all we hear is speculation;
fact: only the words of the POW will clarify these circumstance;
suggestion: we owe a captured American soldier a chance to explain himself/herself about how he/she ended up being captured. so we should to hear their side;

Thank you and good morning……it was the only one I could find in youtube format.
Wow, that is so chilling. Bowe Bergdahl appears to be pretty dazed, overwhelmed by the light of day? Not really able to walk steadily? I don’t know the circumstances of his captivity, but it almost appears as though he may have been kept in dark without exercise or perhaps we don’t know the nature of his illness. In any case, I am glad he is back in our care, safe, no matter the circumstances.
He doesn’t look like he is used to daylight. See his eyes trying to adjust. Except for the clothing and healthy weight, the Taliban don’t look any different then the open carry people in Texas. Well no. Women with the Taliban.
POTUS just now boarding AF1. I guess he’s running late?
