Early Bird Chat

On This Day – Pete Souza: “The President had attended the fourth grade closing ceremony for his daughter Sasha at her school in Bethesda, Md. As he was departing, he noticed some pre-school children peering out of a window at a child care facility adjacent to Sasha’s school so he walked over to say hello to them.” June 9, 2011

Hi everyone – getting chilly in my world – I do not like winter – some folks say we do not have a winter – but my bones think differently. It is getting cold

Must be like it is here. My bones get cold, too! I’m fact if it gets below 70, I have a sweater on. It’s so pathetic ! Think cozy thoughts,99!

Pathetic is what my daughter told me today – “really Mom – we only have 2 months of winter”

24C is my limit & that equate to about 75F

        Enjoy your day df :)

Well, 99ts, you cheered us all through our abysmal winter, it’s only fair to do the same to you. Bundle up and think the warmest, happiest thoughts you. This, too, will pass.

Good morning. Last night’s post was so great, I got caught up in it once again this morning. Wonder what new outrage de jour the GOP will set churning in the media this week. I look forward to the day when people finally get that they’re being manipulated and tune them out for good.

INDIANA IS LOADED WITH MILITIA AND WE CAN ONLY CREDIT OUR OWN HATE AND FEAR FOR CREATING SUCH PEOPLE…WE ARE MOST OFTEN OUR OWN WORST ENEMY. I HAVE SEEN SO MUCH OF WHAT HATERS HAVE TRIED TO DO TO OUR PRESIDENT…IT MAKES ME WANT TO VOMIT AND I WILL BE IN THE STREETS PROTECTING A PERSON OF COLOR BEFORE MYSELF. BE CAREFUL AND WATCHFUL BECAUSE THERE IS A SHADOW OF MILITIA HATRED CAST OVER THIS COUNTRY…GUARD THIS PRESIDENT…AND GUARD HIM WELL.

And this is what the RW rhetoric is encouraging every time they scream about the govinmint

    http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/shooters-metro-ambush-left-five-dead-spoke-white-supremacy-and-desire-kill-police

The shooters were a married couple thought to be in their late 20s who were new to the Las Vegas Valley, according to a law enforcement official close to the investigation. Police are looking into their links to the white supremacy movement and found swastika symbols during their initial investigation.

They were weird people, Monroe said, adding that he thought the couple used methamphetamine.

“The man told Monroe he had been kicked off Cliven Bundy’s ranch 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas while people from throughout the U.S. gathered there in protest of a Bureau of Land Management roundup of Bundy’s cattle.” Jessica Anderson, 27, said. She lived next door.

Reached Sunday, the rancher’s wife, Carol Bundy, said the shooting and the April standoff against the federal government were not linked.

“I have not seen or heard anything from the militia and others who have came to our ranch that would, in any way, make me think they had an intent to kill or harm anyone,” Carol Bundy said.

Why am I not surprised? And beware the comments – there are some loons who would follow in the shooter’s footsteps.

    • 38 99ts
      June 9, 2014 at 8:17 am

And from a commenter at LGF

“I have to wonder (with a good deal of my cynical humor), just how insane do you have to be to have been kicked off the Bundy Ranch?”

    • 39 africa
      June 9, 2014 at 8:30 am

This is much of GOP creation. They will continue to excuse themselves until tragedy comes to them personally. And our hapless media just chugs along.

    • June 9, 2014 at 8:38 am

WHAT? If they don’t have an intent to harm or kill anyone, then why are they armed to the teeth?

    • 41 vcprezofan2
      June 9, 2014 at 8:48 am

No interest in reading this article, but wonder if Carol Bundy said this with a straight face >>> “I have not seen or heard anything from the militia and others who have came to our ranch that would, in any way, make me think they had an intent to kill or harm anyone,” Carol Bundy said.

Wasn’t it folks who came to ‘our ranch’ who had their rifles sighted on government officers who were only about to do their duty? Maybe those stories were made up. /smh/ The wilfull disconnect of these people is so hard for me to comprehend.

      • 42 99ts
        June 9, 2014 at 8:52 am

Of course they say it with a straight face – as does any other RWNJ – not to mention the GOP pundits and politicians who make a cork screw look straight – given the way they talk and behave.

People should KNOW what is happening in these shootings – most of the media will not call it what it is – domestic terrorism – the information should be spread and the GOP, who encourage this behavior should be called on it – again and again and again.

Ay yi yi, TS. It’s so repetitious, so boring in its repetitiveness, yet so insidious.

          • 44 99ts
            June 9, 2014 at 9:09 am

I really think it’s frightening rather than boring vc – many of the supposedly leading politicians in the US are encouraging this type of behavior. I have to be pleased that I am not there – but the US has massive world influence – and that impacts us all.

Anyhow – on another tack completely – how are you and the teenager coping? Are you coping with teenage reality yet?

            • 45 vcprezofan2
              June 9, 2014 at 9:23 am

I humbly accept your word change – it IS frightening in one sense. I probably defaulted to ‘boring’ because their attacks have become so predictable, but you are right.

re teenage reality – am still trying to chip at the edges because the reality as it’s presented here won’t work for me over the long term. Coincidentally we had a loooong discussion last night where one of the points tabled was that I am more than willing to listen to your POV, but that won’t translate into you getting all your way. Seems my lady figures if something doesn’t please her it should be changed; otherwise what’s the point talking about it? I thought it was a productive discussion, though I did notice that I was ignored this morning until my lady was going out the door. Do you think I should be grateful I got an ‘ Aunt, I’m leaving now’? ;)

                June 9, 2014 at 9:54 am

Not grateful – but perhaps pleased – maybe you are getting through :)

I went into disbelieving mode when my delightful daughter turned into a teenager – I am very rare to criticise parents/caregivers because sometimes it doesn’t seem to matter what you do – the children take no notice, argue, disagree and pout.

Actually, sounds a lot like the way the GOP treats PBO – some folks never grow up – fortunately my daughter did!

“have came”. Well. At first I thought ‘typo’, because one has to stretch ignorance to deliberately abuse even ‘American’ English so badly. If this portends the future of human intelligence, doomsday will be a relief!

    Good Morning BFF and TOD.

ACTION ALERT: EDUCATION ACTIVISTS PLAN TO PROTEST CORBETT AND CHRISTIE AT UNION LEAGUE – PHILADELPHIA ON MONDAY, JUNE 9

On Monday, June 9, hundreds of protesters will gather outside the Union League building at Broad and Samson Streets, Philadelphia, at 4PM. Governor Tom Corbett is expected to arrive at the private fundraiser at 6pm. The fundraiser was organized with Chris Christie and the Republican Governor’s association, and according to press release issued by PCAPS (Philadelphia Coalition Advocating for Public Schools) … http://www.ragingchickenpress.org/2014/06/08/action-alert-education-activists-plan-to-protest-corbett-and-christie-at-union-league/

Gov. Corbett is deeply unpopular in Philadelphia thanks to his deep cuts to public education, and he is typically greeted by large protests whenever he visits the city. In January, Corbett canceled a visit to Central High School at the last minute in the face of student and teacher protest. It would have been his first documented visit to a Philadelphia public school. … http://citypaper.net/article.php?Schools-activists-to-protest-Corbett-and-Christie-at-Union-League-20499

For reasons that probably relate to TPM trying to get some paid up members – they seem to have stopped being 99% GOP items over the past few days – maybe they have realised that NO-ONE on the right is going to pay to read their stories.

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/mcconnell-obamacare-kynect-contact

McConnell Has Taken Almost Zero Interest In Kentucky’s Hugely Successful Obamacare Exchange

McConnell and his staff have so far shown almost zero interest in that success (Kynect). Audrey Haynes, Kentucky’s Secretary of Health and Family Services, told TPM in a phone interview last week that the form letters (6), which referred people who had had problems with the site to the state government, are the only known contact between Kentucky’s most powerful congressional representative and its new insurance marketplace.

Just a quick post to wish everyone a great day.

Great posts here — thanks for those who posted the newspaper story re: Las Vegas senseless murders by two kicked out from Bundy Ranch.

Hope media reports the crickets from their own (i.e., Fox News) about what these “patriots” (aka white supremacists) are really all about (remember, I’m a blue dog Dem).

And yes, WaPo needs to read Chait and others who report on actual deeds of our President (Chait should continue to keep his mouth shut on things he knows nothing about, i.e., race relations).
