An Israeli military leader is saying that nuclear deal with US/Iran is “likely.”
Buckle up. Shit, as they say, is about to get real.

I don’t know if I’m supposed to laugh at Ed Henry, his question, or have a brain freeze.

Watching the press briefing while I have some time and OMG…how Jay Carney and Josh Earnest don’t punch the crap out of the WHPC every two minutes, I will never understand.

Jeeeezus! They have got to be the dumbest set of people working in any sector.

NYT and many other outlets reported that President Obama’s second student loan reform proposal will help an additional 5 million people. What does Jim Avila say? Isn’t it irresponsible for the POTUS not to tell the American people how many millions will be affected by this new student loan reform proposal? Josh Earnest answers with the 5M response and Avila repeats a variation of his stupid question.

    Are you fucking kidding me?!?!?!

Then he asks Josh that since the GOP says it can’t trust President Obama on Immigration Reform, why doesn’t President Obama just pick up the phone and reassure John Boehner which will then reassure the American people that he is indeed trustworthy.

I repeat: ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!

President Obama has been the one person pushing the Senate and House to do something proactive about Immigration Reform. Finally, the Senate moved forward. Republicans in the House are blocking legislation and that somehow becomes President Obama’s fault? Is Boehner not an elected official? Is he not adult enough to move the legislation forward for a simple vote?

If this is what the public is being subjected to on a larger scale, no wonder we even have educated people falling for the BS.

Lt Col Bateman, over at Charlie Pierce’s place, is an amazing writer. He has been doing a lot of chronicling the Civil War. But some of his most devastating writing has been about guns. He has received death threats, people have found his parents, etc.

Well, his military service just ended. He has been stationed in England, but he is now coming home. And boy, is he coming home.

    http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/i-am-coming-home

I have been overseas in Afghanistan and in NATO nations for half a decade while the insanity of the National Rifle Association expanded and exploded, and the NRA became, essentially, the tool of death in the United States. They made mass killings normal.

Well done, NRA. But this shit is too much.

Constant cop-killing, by people who echo the NRA talking points and the conspiracy theories of the Internet wackos.

So I will come home, and perhaps some of those 3,000 nutjobs who sent me hatemail might want to meet up, because I am more than fricking willing, you whining, little boy-toys who need guns. So many of you have threatened me that I am literally booked, but any of you who feel you have been left out, go ahead. Book a date. You bring your gun to try and convince me that you are not a complete and total idiot, and if you bring a gun, let us see which tool works best.

Wimps need guns. Come and get me.

Lt. Bateman is real, Japa, and he should frighten every insecure pinhead with a gun in this country. We will need masses of people like him to turn back the ugly tide of hate and violence. And we will need a Congress that is not a quivering mass of compliant jelly that dances to the tune of gun manufacturers.

One comfort is there are far more intelligent, genuine, fully trained and experienced veterans than there are idjits and loose cannons. If it came down to it, those truly honest and patriotic vets would stand with police and National Guard all across the country to defend the rest of us, if the crazies succeeded in bringing about any kind of coherent ‘revolution’. I do not believe they are smart enough, or capable enough to pull off anything serious, just these tragic, small but huge, incidents in pockets. I do have to wonder where is the police union in all this, they see the worst of it, and now their own are being targeted, and falling.

The President is quite perturbed about tax loopholes, favoring the rich. Cannot understand why more aren’t enraged. He interrupted his prepared remarks on college loan debt to discuss it. We are with you, Mr. President!

And the President is saying “some of these Republicans in Congress.” Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition! That’s how we need to talk about Congress – it’s not all of Congress; it’s the damn Republicans.

ABSOLUTELY BILL R….I DON’T BLAME PBO FOR DETOURING TO THE SUBJECT…PARENTS NEED TO WAKE UP…PART OF THEIR ‘ATTENTION’ PROBLEM IS THE FACT THAT THE REPUGNANT ONES HAVE THEM BRAINWASHED AGAINST ANYTHING PBO DOES…AND…INSTEAD OF LISTENING AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING…THEY LEAVE IT TO THE HALLOWED HILLS OF THE DO NOTHINGS. WHAT THESE BOYS IN CONGRESS DON’T UNDERSTAND IS THAT…IF OUR COUNTRY FAILS…THEY AND THEIR SILK TIES WILL BE UNDER THE RUBBLE…THAT’S HOW IT WORKS…IT’S CALLED JUSTICE BALANCING THE SCALES OF INIQUITY!

Things that make me go “squee”.

I’m filling in at another library today. A little girl, maybe 9 or 10, just walked in.

Why does this make me squee? Because, she walked in alone, which means she’s probably at home alone while her parents are working. And what did she decide to do while she was alone? COME TO THE LIBRARY!

    I love my job.

I am truly grateful to the President for taking these steps. My daughter is one of those stuck with student loans.
She also attended American University like the young man that introduced PBO, so that made it resonate even
more with me because I know what that tuition is like.

She had asked for a deferment because the job market was so bad. The good news is that she is one
of the 217000 added to the job market in May. For that we are grateful. However, if the 10 percent cap on payment
is in place plus the opportunity to refinance the interest rates, then that would make life a lot easier for her and millions of others.

I certainly will be taking up PBO’s clarion call to get in touch with congress to get off their butts and do
something to help the current generation get out from under the heavy burdens of loans they are now carrying.

So, I take a few hours off – and at a glance I missed more than a couple of posts! Ay me! :)
But, I didn’t spot a Man U supporter entering, as I was leaving, the grocery story. His t-shirt wasn’t red, but “Manchester United” was clearly emblazoned on the front – it was white with black lettering. I muttered ‘Man U’, nodded and smiled (he smiled back), all the while thinking, ‘Chips sure does follow me around’! Before Chips this is not something I would have noticed.

    • June 9, 2014 at 2:55 pm

That is absolutely true Nerdy Wonka, they do owe more on student loans than credit cards.
My daughter whom I mentioned in my post above refuses to take out any credit cards.
She doesn’t want to be completely buried in debt and that’s what would happen if she added CC debt to student loans.

POTUS has millions of followers on the Twitter WH Account. The OFA has millions as well. I am not on the Twitter, so I am sure that, okay, I am hoping that whenever the POTUS speaks, his messages when ignored by the National Media is getting to those through the electronic media. I do trust this Administration where young people are concerned for they have a greater track record of informing them than the MSM.

POTUS and McDonough seem to be very good points. I have the feeling McDonough has the President’s back in a way no previous Chief of Staff did. He is not in this for anything for himself, as I felt with Rambo.

I’m so glad the president is taking these actions on student loans. Where I teach, the students graduate with horrendous loans, and frankly, what we give them is not any better than what they could get at much less expensive community and state colleges. I truly hate to see them burdened with debt. A number of my freshmen are not coming back, but ARE going to community and state colleges next year. When they tell me that, I tell them I completely understand. Those colleges are expensive enough. We are ridiculous in my estimation, as are all private, religious schools. I don’t know how people do it.

LL, tonight I’m participating in the Rocket Readers program at our local library. We volunteers will tutor any children who are brought between 6 & 8 to help them in reading. I think we have 12 volunteers, and 26 signed up so far. I’m looking forward to it. This program is totally free for the parents and children. Will let you know how it goes. I, too, spent my summers at the public library…….in Kansas it was the coolest place in town, one of the few to have air conditioning at that time :)

    • June 9, 2014 at 3:24 pm

      Awesome, Carolyn, enjoy your tutoring!

    • June 9, 2014 at 3:45 pm

Along with escalating faculty-administrator salaries, sports programs and compensation for professional schools, I think the high cost of college is partly because a lot of them felt the need to provide more and more very nice amenities for students. It’s really gotten out of hand.

Like I told you, they can get bad results on any issue when a 1/3rd of the American public are against anything this president does, 100% of the time. Then you take the T Baggers who claim they’re independent, and are also against the President 100% of the time. So…, is it any wonder these polls suck?
