Hahahaha…Yes, watch the MSM spin…they are probably furiously faxing memos from Rove and Luntz as we post/speak. I’m waiting for Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell tomorrow with their “Cantor’s loss is bad news for Obama” chorus…. LMAO!

Robert Draper Book: GOP’s Anti-Obama Campaign Started Night Of Inauguration

    By Sam Stein – 04/26/2012

    ——————————————-

WASHINGTON — As President Barack Obama was celebrating his inauguration at various balls, top Republican lawmakers and strategists were conjuring up ways to submarine his presidency at a private dinner in Washington.
    .
    .
According to Draper, the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.),
    .
    .
For several hours in the Caucus Room (a high-end D.C. establishment), the book says they plotted out ways to not just win back political power, but to also put the brakes on Obama’s legislative platform.

“If you act like you’re the minority, you’re going to stay in the minority,” Draper quotes McCarthy as saying. “We’ve gotta challenge them on every single bill and challenge them on every single campaign.”

Cantor engineered the unanimous GOP votes against the stimulus & health reform, plus the Tea Party budget nihilism. What a squish!

Now if this was a Democrat, the media would be claiming doom and gloom for the Dems. Chucky Todd saying what bad news for the Democrats. Every news show would open with Democrat loses, bad sign for midterms. Let’s see what they say here..

Cantor loss front page on Ha’eretz the israeli newspaper.
Not a single jewish member of congress remains.

I wonder how big GOP Jewish donors like Sheldon Adelstein the macao and Vegas gambling billionaire, will react. He was clearly a star they pinned their hopes on.
AIPAC is in tears I’m sure.
For me, Eric Cantor is an embarrassment to our shared heritage not a leader to be proud of.

    Holy Moly!!

I just got home and I was as shocked as everyone else. Apparently no one saw this coming (even our all knowing Washington pundits). A couple of people got the alert on their phones tonight and then our team leader came in and gave us a talking too about how you have to work to GOTV right up until the last minute. She reminded us that the only poll that matters is the one that counts the votes on election night.

I bet Cantor and his people are devastated. This is what happens when you take your seat for granted. It couldn’t have happened to a better more deserving person.

From an earlier tweet – the pollster who said Cantor would walk it in – also has Rick Scott ahead in Florida. Says all we need to know about GOP Pollsters. Cantor lost by 10 points – that is huge

The GOP likes to talk about “appeasement.” Usually referring INACCURATELY to POTUS’ foreign poliicy.

Hey, GOP. This tonight is what appeasement looks like.
GOP tried to feed the RW hordes a little bit.
How’d that work out for you, Eric???

Cantor, who barely contained his dislike for Obama, was a lead player in forcing Boehner to shut down government in 2013. The shutdown was seen as disastrous for Republicans, and more recently, Cantor began to steer center, for instance in advancing an interventionist foreign policy and in embracing aspects of immigration reform.

          Then Karma came and said:

          Be Gone Cantor!

And this is a conservative district!!

    • June 10, 2014 at 9:50 pm

Because, dear Jovie, it shows that the GOP prattling about having the TP in control is all a bunch of hooey. And, hopefully, this will make sane people see the light and vote Dem.

He’s also just a rep not a leader. Cantor should now push for immigration reform until he’s gone just to be a bitch. If immigration is dead, so is the Latino vote for upcoming races, goodbye GOP.

dood, the guy with the enormous power and who used that power at every chance to drag down governance to gutter levels is gone. And you don’t think it’s a BFD? Also. Too. The brat, even if he gets elected, will not have any such power.

“Conservative districts” isn’t protecting the conservatives, is it?

This defeat means a lot at different levels.

Again, I have to caution folks – do not expect VA Dem nominee Jack Tramell to be a Liberal dream. He is running in a solid red district that has undergone gerrymandering. He will not be associating with PBO, or pushing the most liberal policies. BUT…if he’s anything better than that Teabagger BRAT, he’s worth a shot. And over the coming weeks/months, we will get a chance to see what he is made of.

Here’s a statement he put out this evening:

// “I am honored and humbled to accept the Democratic nomination in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District. I am running because I believe Virginians are hungry for a radical change from the dysfunctional and reckless politics being practiced by those in Congress – and the results of tonight’s primary election are the proof. In the coming months, I look forward to a spirited campaign where can talk about the issues that matter to our community, and how we can get Congress re-focused on the priorities that truly matter to us.” //

Why is it that with all of his money, Cantor relied on such lousy polling companies. Polling companies have been off before, but this was a lulu of an discrepancy. And why didn’t Cantor’s phone bankers and GOTV people pick up on this kind of voter unhappiness. Either Cantor was way out of tune with his district or his campaign staff completely failed him. What on earth did he spend his millions on?
