 Following in our President’s path, I is, and I forgot to make the comparison. This really should be my answer to Chips going forwards.

        Morning, Nena!

Just received an excellent, biting (Cantor in the ass) e-mail from the DNC. Might have to donate.

My eyes always start to cry whenever I listen to President Obama, even during a grad speech. I am weird or always tired or hopelessly in “like”. :) P.S. I also noticed that he is looking especially snappy today.

School President really could be Geithner’s female relative – same understated brilliance and awkwardness, humility, and similar facial appearance. :) LOL!

Which is good for the Dem party. We don’t need a party governed by a bunch of loony fringe extremists, making it harder for the sane, reasonable politicians!

      • June 11, 2014 at 7:42 pm

        Interesting tidbit from that article….

The simple fact is that politicians and campaign professionals do not care about people who do not vote. Democrats who turn out to vote in general elections but not in primary contests are taken for granted. Left-leaning citizens who don’t vote are simply ignored. No politician ever looked at an angry social media rant by a non-voter and wondered if maybe they should change positions to encourage that person to vote for them; instead, they look at the most reliable voters and try to figure out how to retain their loyalty in the next election.

        ********

the most reliable voters of the Democratic party…are Blk folks…esp Blk Women…don’t see the Dems catering much to that demographics…

Words no #NEOCONSTER ever wants to hear …

“We’ve earned our unparalleled position in the world through decades of responsible leadership. We affirm our exceptionalism by working tirelessly to strengthen the international system we helped build. We affirm it daily with our painstaking efforts to marshal international support and rally nations behind our leadership. We affirm it by taking strong action when we see rules and norms broken by those who try to game the system for their own gain. As President Obama told those graduating cadets at West Point, “What makes us exceptional is not our ability to flout international norms and the rule of law; it’s our willingness to affirm them through our actions.”

As we leave an era of American foreign policy dominated by war, we are in a much stronger position to shape a more just and secure peace. In doing so, we will be vigilant against threats to our security, but we also recognize that we are stronger still when we mobilize the world on behalf of our common security and common humanity. That is the proud tradition of American foreign policy, and that is what’s required to shape a new chapter of American leadership.”

Absolutely ESSENTIAL reading for all TODers (especially all you lurkers ;) ) …

“For a moment, assume that turnout was roughly 45,000 and Eric Cantor got the votes he did, roughly 28,000 (official results here). 28,000 out of 45,000 is almost exactly 62%. If McLaughlin had been correct about turnout, his poll would have proven on the money. It’s those additional 20,000 voters that screwed up his math, but his estimate of the total number of votes Cantor would get is deadly accurate.

McLaughlin credits Brat’s super anti-immigrant stand with some of his margin, but the rest, according to McLaughlin go to Democrats who decided to take advantage of Virginia’s primary system where there are no party registrations and voters can choose any party’s ballot on primary day. McLaughlin even credits Democrats with the lion’s share of the increase in turnout.”

Cantor’s Loss Undermines Media’s “Dem Enthusiasm Gap” Meme

I wonder how much of this is McLaughlin covering his arse – he may not get too much money from GOPers for polls coming into November. The pundits seem to be blaming him, rather than Cantor, for losing.

      • June 11, 2014 at 7:41 pm

I think he’s doing more than covering his ass, 99. The turnout and gap, as Spandan notes, points directly to Dems being highly effective.

That’s bad enough news for the #TeabaggerBrat, but having a Libertarian enter the race is not the news he wanted to hear today.

Dems can win this district if they want it badly enough. Same applies Nationally. We can control the 114th Congress if we want it badly enough. GOTV is the only thing that matters, as you know.

        Yes WE MUST

One of the commenters at the end of Spandan’s piece said her cousin lives in Louisa County, District 7. The commenter’s cousin said “Democrats hated Cantor with the white hot heat of 1000 fires.” They saw him as the total obstructionist who just made weak Boehner do his bidding. They were determined to get him out so he couldn’t do any more damage”. She also said the Democrats know exactly what Brat is, but he wouldn’t be in any position of leadership. And yes, they did hold meetings and make plans…..grassroots organization.

When I was listening to Al Roker talk about POTUS interview with Jenna Bush, they mention something about Sasha 13th birthday then Al said something about Sasha going to a One Direction concert for her birthday. How nice for her.
