    Tricked into conversation again (at home and by Chips)! Some of us are slower learners.

        Mais oui; I always fall for this distract-with-convo tactic, Layla. I’m either too polite to resist, or too nosy. ;) ;)

            Very funny, Gx2! :grin: :grin: I haven’t figured out the buttons on my new gadget, and at the rate I’m going I’ll probably still be saying that in the summer. In fact, I turned it off, until I have more time to maybe look up the instruction booklet. ;)

      I don’t want to hear anything Peter King have to say, because Republicans like him go along with whatever B.S. the Tea Party cook up.

    The 13-page essay, titled “God and Advanced Mammon — Can Theological Types Handle Usury and Capitalism?,” was published by “Interpretation: A Journal of Bible and Theology.”

    According to the Journal, one section of the essay discussed how if Christian people “had the guts to spread the word,” government would not need to “backstop every action we take.” Then it stated:

    Capitalism is here to stay, and we need a church model that corresponds to that reality. Read Nietzsche. Nietzsche’s diagnosis of the weak modern Christian democratic man was spot on. Jesus was a great man. Jesus said he was the Son of God. Jesus made things happen. Jesus had faith. Jesus actually made people better. Then came the Christians. What happened? What went wrong? We appear to be a bit passive. Hitler came along, and he did not meet with unified resistance. I have the sinking feeling that it could all happen again, quite easily. The church should rise up higher than Nietzsche could see and prove him wrong. We should love our neighbor so much that we actually believe in right and wrong, and do something about it. If we all did the right thing and had the guts to spread the word, we would not need the government to backstop every action we take.

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/rand-paul-trapped-amnesty

    “We’ve been somewhat trapped by rhetoric and words and amnesty is a word that’s trapped us,” Paul said during a call organized by immigration reform supporters, as recorded by the Wall Street Journal. “We’re trapped in a word that means different things to different people. … I really think that some of it is we’re trapped in this rhetoric and we have to get beyond that.”

    Paul says that he supports immigration reform, but he voted against the comprehensive Senate bill.

    On Wednesday, he reiterated his support for reform, and said that he would need more assurances that the border is secure.

    “I’ve always said I’m for it, I just want to be part of the process,” he said. “I don’t feel that anybody really wanted my vote because they never asked me what I thought.”

    //////

    Twisted Logic…..this fool has some lefties following him?
    As a Senator with his Own Mind,…..he wants to be asked for his votes? This beats all. Seriously?

    2014 Kids’ State Dinner Winners Announced!

    // The judges were extremely impressed by this year’s entries. The winning recipes were chosen based on USDA’s MyPlate recommendations and based on the challenge criteria of being healthy, original, tasty, and affordable.

    The winners represent every U.S. state, three territories, and the District of Columbia. These fifty-four children, ages 8-12, along with their parents or guardians will travel to the White House on July 18th to attend the third annual Kids’ “State Dinner.” During the event, the kid chefs will join the First Lady and enjoy a healthy lunch featuring a selection of the winning recipes, followed by a visit to the White House Kitchen Garden.//

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/democrat-voters-did-not-defeat-cantor

    In more Democratic districts, there was higher turnout in Tuesday’s primary than there was for Ken Cucinelli, the GOP gubernatorial candidate in 2013.

    However, turnout was even higher in Republican precincts, and Brat carried the precincts won by Cucinelli in 2013 with 56 percent of the vote, according to the Times.

    “But it would be hard to argue that Democrats made up the margin of victory. Turnout was still far, far higher in Republican precincts. Democratic areas did not contribute a large number of votes: Only 5,722 votes were cast in precincts where Mr. Cuccinelli failed to eclipse 40 percent of the vote. Mr. Brat won by 7,212 votes over all,” Cohn wrote.

    /////

    7,212-5,722= 1,490

    Independents were not counted, right?

    The margin could have been smaller, right?

    That 5,722 Dems actually went and voted to get Cantor eliminated is a BFD!

      Yes. I watched most of the hearing and Bagel did very well. Some a**hole Rethug asked how what PBO did was different than when Nixon broke the law. Hagel said “what”? The house wants to impeach PBO for getting a soldier back…..what jerks.
